We have been trying to come to this place since like forever and every time we went the wait was just too much. So I had big hopes for this place. We got to this dinner on a Saturday at about 7:30 am. We sat on the bar since all the tables were occupied. We were attended right away. The server was attentive, always checking on us, but not friendly. They seemed the type of servers that just do their jobs but there’s no like friendliness. The food came and it had good presentation. It was a little of a wait to get our food, which I definitely like it. Unfortunately, I wasn’t crazy about the food. We had avocado toast and the eggs, corned beef hash, toast and roasted potatoes. We had also coffee, orange and cranberry juice. I understand the food is what you get at any dinner, it wasn’t that tasty to me. I will want to try more from their menu though. I will go back there again to try more of their menu since their menu is very extensive. Glad we tried it!

Open for late nights. We went after the club and it was fantastic. The food was ok. The service was very good and fast. I will definitely recommend

Google
Took forever for the food to come. And then it came in pieces. 5 minutes French toast and French toast came. 5 minutes after that the sausage came. 10 minutes after that the cheese eggs came. The pancakes was falling apart dry. The chicken omelet the chicken was very dry horrible

Google
Honestly just bad & fooled me the reviews was good and I was already in Quincy so I thought it would be good, food was burnt and they forgot to my waffle in my back & I had to go back inside to get it & one side looked fine and turn it around & my walffle was burnt.

Came for breakfast on May, 17 2023 (was our first time here). It's a small cute place and looks like most of their customers are regulars. Environment was simple, but cozy. We ordered Californian and President's Benedict(s) plus strawberry pancakes. Food was very delicious and tasted like home made to us.

Google
A real diner and has a great community feel. Waffles, omelets and avocado toast were delicious! They have Irish back bacon 🥓, yum. That is something you don’t get out West much. Great service too!

Home fries 🍟 is great - it’s the best I can find in Quincy! Omelette 🍳 is awesome too! Good morning with great breakfast 🥞

I've always enjoyed coming here for years now! One of my fave spots for a diner in the area! It's wonderful home cooked food, it's cozy inside, wicked friendly staff always! It's like home away from home in a way!

Yelp
Nothing beats a good ole classic diner! I'm sad this beloved institution will be closing its doors at the end of June. So come while you can before June 30 to get your favorite breakfast or lunch plate. My chum and I came here and took our time indulging in our breakfast and taking in the atmosphere. The only thing that makes me happy is the owner says she hopes the diner will come back to life just somewhere else. I'm sure loyal customers will find it hard to let go. This diner has been here since I was just a wee kid. As bummed as I am its closing, I hope to see these classic dishes come back at another location so that everyone who has strong ties to the Wheelhouse, knows it still lives on!

Yelp
The Wheelhouse Diner is a great place if you're looking for your classical American breakfast or lunch. Though, it is very small and tight packed, the Wheelhouse is a nice place and gives you a nice 1980's vibe to it, music playing in the background, and a nice playlist to serenade the experience.

Yelp
Everything a diner should be. Fast service, quality food, excellent staff and customer service. Nothing makes me happier than sitting at the counter on a Sunday morning with a cup of coffee watching my breakfast be made. Wish i lived closer - this would be a staple for me.

Yelp
i'm writing this while waiting for my breakfast. It seems to take for ever, due to lack of adequate staffing. Only on waitress serving about 20 people, all by herself. It's an impossible work stretch. ...our food just arrived and one can sense the kitchen being overwhelmed; I'm talking about the presentation of the food. My friend is barely eating her scrambled eggs beacon and home fries, complaining that it's not warm enough. I don't have much of a problem with mine, although I can confirm that the food had cooled off. In conclusion, my main complaint is about under staffing.

Taylor K.

Yelp
Honestly one of the best breakfasts i've ever had. The food is phenomenal. The food came out fairly quick. The atmosphere makes the place and the waiters are so nice. As soon as I walked in I got greeted by one of the owners kids i believe. They let me sit wherever I would like and the service was great. One of the best diners i have been too. I love the music, people, food and atmosphere.

Yelp
The Wheelhouse diner has been around for over three times as long as I have. It's the kind of place where regulars are known by name and order before they sit down. It is small, crowded, and loud! Not just due to people and kitchen, but with 70's and 80's(?) music blasting. The service also was maybe a little gruff. All of these things I'd argue are part of the experience. I stopped in for breakfast, and settled on the Spicy Omelet [sic], which came with home fries and toast. The omelette was pretty standard, except for one thing: they have some kind of special spicy sauce in the omelette which I quite enjoyed. The home fries however, left a little to be desired. They felt like potato pieces that were parboiled and left on the griddle to keep warm and develop a little bit of crust. However, it seems they didn't move around too much, and therefore had some burnt bits, and others that only got to know the griddle by proxy. Overall, not a bad place to get some breakfast, but you have to be in the right mood for the experience.

Yelp
I'm glad this diner open late and I was able to come in for a bite. This place is small and sometimes get crowded. Since this place is tiny don't expect a lot of staff because space is limited. However, on busy nights if there were an extra waitress that will be nice. Food is what one should expect at a diner and for me this place hits my tummy spot. The food is good very good for a diner. Heck it is even better than ihop and certain breakfast spots I have been to. The corned beef hash is made from scratch (not from a can) and is made perfectly here. I would suggest dicing up the home fries a lil as they are quite big. The baked haddock, to my surprise, was also decent.

Yelp
Bro. This little narrow diner blew my mind. Still can't get over how all of these self-proclaimed "Massholes" are so friendly, but the staff here really blew the "northerners are rude" cliché right out of the Atlantic. I was greeted with a smile, a menu, and a "Hey, how ah ya?" as I sat myself at the bar. I asked for a water and a coffee to sip while I perused the menu, looking for the perfect New England breakfast. Torn between the Irish breakfast and the Italian, my distaste for blood sausage ultimately led me to the pepperoni, sausage, mushroom, egg, and cheese concoction known as The Italian Breakfast. Who knew pepperoni and Italian sausage could meld together with eggs so damn well. Served with toast and grilled potatoes, this delicious dish proved to be more than I expected. My wait time was virtually minutes as I watched the cook behind the counter slather everything on to a steaming hot griddle and prepare one of the best breakfast dishes I've ever had. 5/5 would recommend and I'll definitely be making another walk before I leave for home next week. Thanks, Wheelhouse, for an authentic east coast experience.

Yelp
Great little diner with a small town feel. Came here on a Sunday morning at just about 9am and was able to walk in and get seated with no wait. Waitress was super nice and accommodating. Menu is quite extensive with options for everyone. Ordered my son the buttermilk pancakes and they were fluffy and moist. Wife ordered a grilled croissant with scrambled eggs, hash and topped with Hollandaise sauce. I had the 3 egg omelette with keilbasa and cheese. All the food was great...with the exception of the home fries. They needed much more seasoning. They were bland. PRO TIP: If you are a party of 4, sitting in the booth and are tall (I am 5' 10"), don't sit in the window seat, take the aisle. If you sit by the window, your knees will be hitting the metal post under the table. It's super uncomfortable. Lastly, limited parking. Also, if you have the chance to park around the actual diner, back your car in as it's a very busy intersection and backing out into the street took a bit of time. Overall, a good breakfast in a cool diner!

Yelp
Stopped on my way back from dropping off at the airport . Had the "Eye Opener' Special. excellent, hash , home fries, eggs and toast . A nice eye opener at 6AM !

Yelp
Hole in the wall small diner! Just what we were looking for!! Solid breakfast. Nothing fancy but it hit the spot!

Tara S.

Yelp
Terrible service fraudulent activity I ordered a Uber eats they said I called and canceled my order when I never called and still got paid while I never called or received my order! Shameful to try to scam customers and when I tried to call to dispute the charge they blocked me ! Terrible service and people

Miranda H.

Yelp
I went for the first time the other day and the food was stellar, the ambiance was great and the staff was awesome. It's really cool to watch them cook right in front of you. The prices are really affordable. I wanted to *especially* commend the amazing chef on the grill - who I overheard saying she was at the famous Taylor Swift rain show the night before - and was still at the diner making incredible food for everyone the next morning!! That's dedication.

Kevino C.

Yelp
Spectacular breakfast spot! Service was quick and accomodating. Our waitress was amazing and was super nice. Let's go Sarah! Menu selection was plentiful and prices are okay for a diner. I got the mixed berry cheesecake pancakes ($11) and they were so tasty! The berries were very fresh and the pancakes were soft and warm with a slight sweetness to it that complimented the tart flavor of the berries and jam. The cheesecake bits inside added a unique texture to the whole dish and with syrup, created a delectable early morning sweet treat! The crispy french toast ($9) was also great. The cereal crust gave the softer interior of the french toast a slight crunch along with the crisp of the outside. Amazingly delicious! The side of bacon ($4.50) was also crispy and had great flavor. We also ordered an oat cup ($7) with nutella and it was scrumptious! Perfectly sweet with a great balance of chocolate flavor from the nutella. Mmmm! Overall, an amazing experience with great staff, great food, and a great atmosphere. Definitely recommend this place and definitely will be coming back! You can also get a free meal on your birthday!

Yelp
Great little diner!! The parking is limited and there is a bit of a wait for your food, but it's worth it. I went for breakfast and it was delicious. The portions were great and the food arrived hot and fresh, so if you are in Quincy, MA...Check out The Wheelhouse!

Yelp
Like any usual lazy Sundays where my boyfriend and I don't have work early, we woke up around 1pm and was really craving some breakfast food. Everywhere around Quincy was going to close at 2pm, so we looked up this place, we've always seen it (almost every single day as we drive up and down Hancock). But I've just never gone in because I never trusted these types of diners. But this place closes at 3pm so we decided to give it a try. We were able to park in the little parking area they have in front. Walking into the diner, we found the first booth to be empty so we just sat down; should have probably picked a table closer inside since half way through our meal it became pretty cold since they have the door semi open - probably to let the smell and air out to ventilate. Our server was this lady who was VERY sweet, I believe her name was Paula. She went behind the booth to makeus bacon herself when we told her that our side of bacon hasn't come out. Every time she spoke to us she sounded so sweet, from apologizing that our food is taking long to grabbing us more napkins, we left her a big tip because she was just such a sweet and hardworking lady. As for the food, we're benny people. I ordered the Irish Benedict while my boyfriend ordered the Presidents Benedict. The Irish Benedict had corned beef hash and the Presidents Benedict had shredded beef, it was super flavorful. I loved both of them. The homefries that they came with were flavorful with burnt pieces that added such great flavors. I was extremely surprise that our food was so great. I would definitely come back here another time since we live so close. The only thing is, you're definitely going to smell like food afterwards since the food is made out in the open.

Yelp
There were bugs inside of my pancakes. I ordered pancakes and at a first glance they looked fine. When I bit into them, there was a crunchy and bitter after taste. When I spit it out I found bugs inside of the pancakes. This is a disgusting restaurant and should be shut down immediately.

Yelp
So we dragged a friend who grew up in Quincy and had never been here when we visited. I would say we were impressed with the food for what it is good ol' greasy diner food which is always best for breakfast after a night of alcohol. It's a small place in general with like four parking spaces around it but it was fairly easy to find parking in the surrounding area. We got the Irish breakfast and the corn beef hash. Both were great in the amount and the quality. They came with two slices of already buttered toast which was a nice touch. I was impressed with the speed of the cooking and it was fascinating to watch from the bar. Service was speedy and efficient and everyone was super nice. Definitely a place to go in Quincy if you need classic American diner breakfast foods. They do Ubereats and open late!!

Leo G.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast spots anywhere. I drive from Hyde Park usually on the weekend to get Eggs Benedict...and the waffles are great too..They give you your full money's worth.

Maggie G.

Yelp
This is the best avocado toast I have ever had. The ice coffee is also great. They build a website, so it is quite easy to order foods online.

Monica B.

Yelp
This was the best breakfast I have had in a long time! 2 perfectly cooked over easy eggs, ham, home fries (well done just the way I love them) toast and coffee just $8!!! When I say delicious, I mean delicious! Went hungry, left stuffed, great price and great service! You couldn't ask a for better experience. Kudos to the cook!!

Melissa B.

Yelp
Overall a good breakfast experience. I got the corn beef breakfast. The breakfast potatoes amazing, the eggs over medium great, but the corn beef the absolute worst I've ever had! If the corn beef was at least edible 4-4.5 star but with this terrible corn beef 3-3.5 tops. They can do better

WIllie N.

Yelp
Good coffee. That's about it. That's all I wanted to say but yelp insists I write more. So, one wait person, one cook, bad a/c, 45 minutes for egg sandwich and pancakes. The former was mediocre the latter raw and taken off the bill. Maybe they were having a bad day but I wouldn't go there again I am too in love with breakfast to risk it.

D H.

Yelp
A neighborhood staple. Their prices are great for the portions they always serve. Can't go wrong with stopping here for breakfast.

Darrell Y.

Yelp
#7 Breakfast, Service was mediocre Toast was burnt Home fries was burnt Beans were out of a can, no special treatment Was on the road and couldn't return it. Haven't been to the Wheelhouse is awhile, Nothing like it was. Definitely my last time Good riddens

Francis Y.

Yelp
It was Sunday, pouring out, we wanted breakfast but too lazy to cook. We secretly hoped the inclement weather would deter others from going out. Maybe that was the case for some establishments but definitely not the case with the Wheelhouse. It was packed and for good reason. This place serves stick to your ribs kinda comfort food at great prices. Although this place is tiny and looks like a whole in the wall that's frozen in time, this is a favorite spot locals go to for breakfast. They have a really small parking lot but there is street parking. If all else fails, there's always parking at the shopping plaza right down the street. Enter through the right hand side door of the diner and exit through the left. There's a method to the madness since people who are waiting for available seating are waiting on the right hand side of the diner. The staff here work hard! It's practically non stop busy! I am obsessed with their corned beef hash so I got the #5, which also comes with toast, eggs and home fries. My friend got the the Lumberjack with a side of pancakes and another got the same with a side of French toast. The coffee is decent. I would have taken pictures except we were all too hungry by the time we were seated. The portions are big so I didn't have to eat dinner until almost 9PM. The only reason this place doesn't get 5 stars is because the home fries are always a little blah. It's greatly improved because at least now they are no longer on the raw side but it's still not as crispy as I would like them. Oh one last thing to know, breakfast is free on your birthday as long as you show your ID. Yum.

Bill L.

Yelp
This place is great ! Food is fantastic And Ann is the best waitress ever ! Great American Chop Suey, Beef Stew... All breakfast selections are excellent !

Jeanne R.

Yelp
This place is a gem .. Amazing food ,good atmosphere, cozy and most are from Quincy. If you do visit Quincy you need to go to this place. Great breakfast. Yummy yummy ..

Andrew B.

Yelp
This must be the most original diner I've ever been too. The whole place is the size of a shoe box making it very cozy. Where other places can you sit at the bar top, chatting with the cook while he's making your omelette? To top it off, the chocolate milk was NOT from Hersey's chocolate syrup! I'm soo ready to go back.

Melodie R.

Yelp
The food was delicious! I've gotten the lumber jack breakfast. It comes with two huge pancakes, that were unfortunately undercooked & the reasoning for only 4 stars; Toast, eggs & home fries! Home fries, I like more crunchy but that's a personal preference. Awesome food. Staff were pleasant.

Karl B.

Yelp
So my wife and I were regulars years ago when we lived in Quince 45 years ago. It was our absolute favorite breakfast place! Moving away we never got a chance to come back. Sunday morning we were traveling back from Boston and we decided to go for old time sake. The place was actually cuter than ever. Our waitress was not friendly at all. I ordered the hash and eggs. They couldn't have been better. My wife ordered eggs benedict and specifically requested cooked medium-medium well, not runny. They came extremally runny. No biggie we'll just send them back. That is when the waitress became very agitated and rude. I was finished with my breakfast for 15-20 minutes before my wife received her breakfast, When we left she practically threw the change at us. In the almost 50 years together with my wife and countless times going out to eat I can count on one hand having a waitress as rude as her. We will unfortunately never go back.

Tammi M.

Yelp
This review is strictly based on their delivery. Easy online ordering process. Quick delivery, only took about 15 minutes to arrive. Prices were decent and the person on the phone was very nice. The food was hot and fresh. It was goid but to be honest, I've had better. Portion sizes are definitely smaller than OB's Cafe and Newcomb Farms. All in all, I'd order from there again.

Jose C.

Yelp
The Wheelhouse Diner is fantastic. If you love old school diners where the cooking is done in line of sight and the scent of cooking bacon, sausage, and coffee fill the air - this is the place to go for breakfast. I ordered the cheesecake pancakes and didn't eat until dinner. Help keep this place going and go have breakfast here!

Scott K.

Yelp
Cold food, slow service, terrible coffee, no excuses. The cook is clearly over their head. Couldn't handle multiple orders at a time. SLOW!! Meals came out separately and one was cold. Maybe we hit a bad day, but will never be back.

Sheila G.

Yelp
I got delivery from here this morning and it was just not good at all. Part of my order was wrong. I paid extra for Irish soda bread, one of the main reasons I actually ordered from here because I love that bread and they sent me Raisin Toast. I ordered Texas style French toast, the only Texas size about it is the amount of cinnamon they use. It was so dried out and that was after loading it up with butter and syrup it was still super dry. The sausages tasted like they were cooked yesterday and reheated this morning. The hollandaise sauce was like water as well. I normally don't write reviews but this was just so so disappointing to get after waiting extra long as well to receive it. The Irish White pudding was good though as well as my Raisin toast. Sorry Wheelhouse but this was definitely a first and last visit from this customer!

Kevin M.

Yelp
Really great food, very long wait, terrible service. Could not get coffee or water no matter who we asked (one employee said "someone will bring it", then sat and stared at us. wtf?). We gave up. I dropped 40 bucks on this? Not worth it.

Leo M.

Yelp
We once were in town for a wedding, Where Quincy was of close setting, We went to the Wheelhouse Diner, Where the breakfast couldn't taste finer, And we left there without any fretting.

Jean M.

Yelp
Came here for the first time yesterday. Good diner breakfest big portion! I will be back if in the area. Got the steak omelette next time I'll try the pancakes.

Henry P.

Yelp
Old school, legitimate, finer diner in Quincy. Quincy... oh, how I lament thee. Land above Wolly, with you over abundance of Chinese restaurants and nail salons. Here, where in the 470 block still lives an old school railroad car diner. Local. Locals. Working class. Tightly knit. Tight space, but well worth it; clean. Parking is limited. Service is fast. Breakfast, oh my, very very good old school great or healthy. Must tries eggs Benedict. Endless cup of coffee. All treats served on old school Homer Laughlin heavy flatware. Well worth it. Inexpensive eats.

Scott D.

Yelp
One of the best breakfast my fiancé and I have had in a long time, eggs Florentine were out of this world and the breakfast steak and mashed potatoes were so good, Great chef running this place! Can't wait to go back!!!

Cyndy K.

Yelp
Consistent, delicious breakfast served all day! Tasty corned beef hash. Eggs done a perfect easy over. Whole wheat toast perfectly buttered and toasted. Great friendly and efficient service!

Tara S.

Yelp
Just had a delivery from here via Uber eats. The food is stone cold but luckily we have a microwave in our hotel room. Please don't offer delivery to a location if you can't get it there resembling something that a person would want to eat. It's not even snowing out for heavens sake. No butter for the French toast and waffles. Cheesy fake maple syrup. In New England during sugaring season. Fake syrup. And the Butterscotch syrup is a smattering of Nestle's butterscotch chips. The poached egg on the eggs Benedict was perfect but the yolk hardened up when we had to heat it up in the microwave. Just skip this plac

Jill G.

Yelp
Love this diner! Great classic breakfasts. The corned beef hash was off the charts. Eggs and bacon were perfection. Service was great. Get there early but even if there's a line it's Definitely worth the wait

John H.

Yelp
This is a great place for casual breakfast and classic American food. The French toast is absolutely delicious.

Joie T.

Yelp
The worst diner/breakfast food I have ever had. The eggs Benedict was bland and repulsive..I couldn't eat it. I am beyond shocked as to why this place has such good reviews. Would not come back.

Jaymes M.

Yelp
Tiny place with good food and great prices. This place really is a hole in the wall, but a little gem. Walking in, you'll find about 5-7 booths, and then a counter where you can sit and watch the cook do his magic. Sit at the bar, it's kinda fun sitting there watching your meal get made. I ordered the Italian breakfast as an omelette...might I say Yum?! I can't wait to go back and try out lunch and dinner. If you're looking for a place where everyone knows each other and calls each other by name, this is the charming place you are looking for.

Jon P.

Yelp
Good Place! Stumbled across it while driving down Hancock St and being relatively new to Quincy, it looked like a place worth checking out. Breakfast was good. I will be back soon. I think I've found my go to breakfast place.

Josh C.

Yelp
Classic breakfast diner experience. Such affordable prices, along with a menu with plenty of variety

Josephine M.

Yelp
Great diner open late! 12a-3p on the weekends. Cash only, ATM inside. Extensive menu & specials. Outstanding service. Limited lot parking but more spots on hancock street. I had the eggs benedict, great eggs and hollandaise sauce but canadian bacon was quite chewy, would have given 5 stars if not for that. Overall a great experience and will definitely go again!

Marisol D.

Yelp
I ordered from this place for the first time last week. Ordered an omelet and it was ok. Today I received a promo code by text and I was like oh great I'll give them another try so I placed an online order right away. I tried to enter the promo but there's was no place to enter it so I decided to pay when I picked up the order. When I got there I explained to the lady at the window that I had a promo code and she told me it was for my next ordered. I explained that I had received it prior to placing the order and wanted to use it. She was SO rude! Gave me an attitude about it and walked away with my credit card. She came back and slammed my card and receipt on counter and walked away. Like wow!! I did enjoy my food but will not order from here again.
