Had a great experience at The Wheelhouse, an awesome Asian fusion spot. I ordered the summer salad and the Japanese curry—both were excellent. The salad was light and refreshing with strawberries, mint, and cucumbers. The Japanese curry was super flavorful and very filling. The chicken was perfectly cooked—moist and tender—and the bread had a nice crunch on the outside. The curry gravy was rich and delicious, with chunks of potatoes and carrots served over jasmine rice. I’ll definitely be coming back!

My wife and I went here on a date night recently and the new-look menu and restaurant were amazing. We split the pork belly fried rice and both enjoyed it even more than the original fried rice from the food truck days. Highly recommend!!

If you’re debating on where to eat, then definitely pick this place. I went here on a whim, and it was absolutely amazing!!! I ordered the Queen Calita and Carne Asada. Out of this world! Flavors were amazing! I don’t normally leave reviews but I had to because it was that good!

We used to go to the Wheelhouse when it was a part of the hotel. They had some great menu items when they were there. Although they kept a few original items there were also new items. We went for lunch and it was much different than their other location. It's in historic downtown and the decor is more geared towards a nice sit down experience vs the fast casual experience at the hotel. They did well with the decor. They staff is super friendly, very helpful in answering questions, and attentive to their customer base. However, the quality of the food was slightly different than what we experienced when they were at the hotel. Not sure what happened, but I think they are still adjusting to the new location and adjusting to the menu changes. We felt the good was more tasty at the previous location. The prices are slightly more expensive and the portions are a little bit smaller. We would be willing to give it another try after a couple of months, Again, the service was great and it's a lovely location just waiting see how things go.

Incredible spot!! New location is top notch and fits their vibe perfectly! Great vegan options, wonderful mocktails and very attentive staff! Highly recommend!

Atmosphere is amazing, crew is amazing. My Jang Gang drink was very delicious, everything is very fresh and made to order. Bar is very clean and the restaurant is spacious which is nice!

Amazing location, great food, and drinks that tie the whole experience together. The staff here really know how to provide a memorable meal

Tried Wheelhouse for our anniversary dinner last night. Food, atmosphere and service were all terrific. We had made a reservation so our table was ready on time and prepared with a special vase of flowers and a card to welcome us. They pay attention to the details which made for a unique and memorable experience. We highly recommend and we will be going back!

Yelp
Last night was our first time back since they relocated to VIB from their old food truck location. I ordered the drunken noodles with grilled tofu, which I don't think I'd tried before. Wow, best meal I've had out in a while. The lowest heat option had just a little burn but not lingering, sauce was flavorful and umami without being too salty or overpowering the other flavors, noodles well cooked (al dente), tofu was firm with a nice chargrilled flavor (you could tell it was actually grilled), and there were some nice fresh additions like broccoli florets, shredded carrots, cilantro (and maybe mint?), plus lime slices. The single portion was huge, enough for two meals easily, and a steal at less than 10 bucks. My husband got a (huge!) burrito with chicken, mojo sauce, and fresh guacamole and enjoyed his as well. They have local beers and kombucha on tap, and some nice looking homemade desserts. Atmosphere was pleasant, modern hotel lobby, quiet, with nice large windows. The lady at the counter was very friendly and smiling the whole time she interacted with us. Food came out fast but it was clear they cooked it to order. Eating my leftover noodles for lunch and they're still on point next day and after being nuked XD All around great experience. We'll be back!

Yelp
Food was good. Flavorful. The Thai has a pretty good kick to it. This restaurant is an open area in the Best Western lobby. Not real comfortable. Lots of tvs and a bar though. For service you go to the counter and order and pay. I would come again if I happened to be close.
google avatar

Yelp
This restaurant is actually inside a hotel. Very quiet and pleasant vibes. The staff are friendly and helpful. Accommodations for food allergies and restrictions. Thai and Mexican options available.

Yelp
The orange tofu is to die for! The owner is super friendly. And the strawberry , mango margaritas are so yummy.

Yelp
Food was so good & they had Springfield Kombucha on tap I had the Pad Thai & my hubs got the Thai Basil chicken, we both loved it.

Donna B.

Yelp
Food is great.. nacho's with chicken and peanut sauce , orange chicken with great white rice and a salad. Service is slow , so not fast food... quiet but cool... doors let in drafts... it's kept clean, bathroom also. Would definitely go back and would be a good takeout place !

Yelp
Limited menu, but great food made fresh with fresh ingredients. What drew us here were the solid vegan offerings, though it is not a vegan restaurant. Service was friendly and prompt even though it was a bit busy when we arrived. It was a little hard to find until we realized that it is actually in the lobby of the Vīb Hotel.

kevin B.

Yelp
Amazing food loved all of it, and the kombucha was some of the best I have tasted. Chicken could have been cut a little smaller, but that is neither here or there. The food was amazing, and the chicken size didn't take anything away from the meal.

Yelp
These guys ovah here! Never had a bad dish with these guys. Always fresh, always flavorful, always perfect serving sizes. The service is always top notch - so kind and polite. One time I had to use the bathroom and when I returned to my table they immediately met me with my food and said they didn't want to bring it over until I had returned. THESE GUYS OVAH HERE PAYING ATTENTION TO MY BATHROOM HABITS TO KEEP MY FOOD SAFE AND WARM! 4/5 stars for life! Bathrooms were ok.

Yelp
Very tasty Fusion food. Huge portions, great prices too. Counter staff very friendly and helpful too. Bright open space, easy entrance and parking. Give it a try!

Austin L.

Yelp
Food is great you'll wait a little while longer than other places. But boy is it worth it! The owners are amazing people and very friendly. It's inside a hotel so expect some foot traffic but there's loads of seating. The kimchi fries are phenomenal. 10/10

Yelp
Got the Pad Thai and it was so good! We added chicken and it made a great meal. The Wheelhouse has this great Asian food fusion thing going on and so their foods taste different than your traditional dishes. For example, the Pad Thai has lime and cilantro and it tastes so good. I haven't tried much else on their menu, and it is kind of in a weird location (bottom floor of a hotel) but the food is worth it! They also source desserts from local bakers which is a cool thing.

Tara J.

Yelp
Tasty fresh food that will melt your tastebuds. Healthy offerings with a creative flair! Great Marguerites!

Yelp
Steak burrito, both sauces, as hot as you can make it. The best burrito I I've ever had/ever will have. I lived in Springfield for over ten years and would get this at least once a week. Since moving to KC, I wake up in the middle of the night dreaming of this burrito. I travel all over the US for work and nothing will ever compare to this burrito... I heart you wheelhouse (p.s. their other stuff is great too.....) *Only writing this review because I am eating a lack luster burrito in Utah just anticipating the excitement for the next time I pass through Springfield and get a wheelhouse burrito.

Yelp
A favorite for happy hour. Great from scratch nibbles and wonderful service! The vastness of the lobby and lack of ambiance results in a 4 vs 5.
google avatar

Yelp
Springfield has been a crappy trip (for work). However this place made better. Michael is an amazing server, bartender and host--he was doing it all. I definitely recommend the Drunken Noodles (ask to add Thai spice) and the "Spicy Gal".

Yelp
We are out-of-towners looking for vegan + allergy friendly spots and this was perfect. The lady working went over every item on their menu and was extremely knowledgeable about ingredients. I showed my list of allergies which she took to the chef to make sure there were no additional ingredients of concern. The food was good but the peace of mind was even better!

Yelp
This place has really gone down hill after the move. It seem raising prices, and lowering quality and size seems to be the norm for "hipster" restaurants. We tried them a few months ago for the first time in forever, and noticed prices were $2 to $3 higher than they were when they were in the food truck. We waited in line, places our orders and sat at the bar. There were 2 people in front and I have no clue how many in back. One person in the front was strictly working bar, while the other was running food, taking orders, cleaning plates and areas etc. The kitchen was throwing food out faster than the lady could deliver it. There were stacks of plates under a small heating lamp waiting to be delivered. The kitchen staff after making a dish just stood around, why didn't they help serve?!! I watched our food sit under that lamp for 15 minutes.. By the time we got it; it was cold and soggy. We returned it and left... Well yesterday the wife wanted a Peanut Chicken Burrito. We use to split them because they were so big; they were worth the $8 though! When we drove across town to pick it up "making sure it was the large one" which they said they only do the large and no lunch size anymore. We were served someone a little bigger than a Taco Bell burrito for $10!!!! NO THANK YOU! So if you want "okay" food at a inflated price then this is the spot for you.

Yelp
If you have not been to Wheelhouse, you NEED to go! The food was fresh, local, hot, and full of flavor, with good portions for what you pay for. Me and three kids had the vegan Pad Thai but I added smoked pork and they added chicken. Wow! Best Pad Thai, and best smoked pork I've ever had. The sauce was great, the balance of noodle, and veg was on point. Spice was just right and the peanut was not overpowering but still fully in front. Wife had chicken nachos with a green verde type sauce and was very flavorful! It was the happy hour portion for $5 but still was a good size. One of my daughters got the garlic Lo Mein off the happy hour menu. It was very tasty and also a good portion for the price. Oldest son got a Kimchi Falafal sandwich and it was the bomb!!! The spicy Kimchi was soooo goood! Me and wife both tried a few of their drinks!!! All fresh, and different than your run of the mill cocktails. Kids enjoyed fresh made fruit spritzers as well! But what really made this an amazing dinner, was our server Melissa!!! She knows how to treat customers! She was very kind, talkative but not in the annoying bothersome way. She allowed us to sample many of the drinks, bitters and ingredients that were being used. We felt like we were over to her house for dinner and drinks! If the food don't make you want to come back, which it will, Melissa will make you want to come again! You must try this place!

Yelp
I ate here for the first time last week. The peanut butter chicken tacos were great. The tortilla chips were hard as rocks and oversalted, so I couldn't eat them. I ordered the same meal today, and was extremely disappointed. The peanut butter chicken tacos were served with a small container of the peanut butter sauce on the side, and it was like water. The chips were still like rocks and had enough salt for 5 pounds of chips. I'm all done with The Wheelhouse.

Yelp
Came in with a big group of 10. All of our food came out super quick and was really fresh and tasty. Tacos, fried rice, pad Thai, kimchi French fries. Everyone at the table was very very pleased. Any time I'm back in Springfield, I'll be eating here. So good.

Yelp
Inside the New Vib Best Western hotel, the peanut tacos were fantastic, Thai Mex favor and hit the spot. Highly recommended

Yelp
The expression is it's "within your wheelhouse", neaning your speciality that your particularly good at. So when I saw they served Thai and Mexican. I should've known better. The single worst facsimile of pad Thai I have ever tasted. Unfortunately I run into that a lot in this town they are tons of restaurants but none of them are very good. I am not sure what the sauce was but it definitely wasn't pad Thai. And I have never tasted so much lime in my life. It was like eating lime noodles, bland, spice-less, no heat what so ever. The Tofu was good. The quest for quality pad thai continues. WheelHouse, pick a lane, Thai or mexican and maybe the food will improve.

Yelp
Fabulous place to try! The staff was super friendly and truly cared about their job. Everything is fresh. My wife and I sat at the bar. There are four TVs and the restaurant is attached to the Vib Hotel. Our server was very nice and she even gave us a free cupcake for Veterans Day plus a military discount! I highly recommend this place for lunch or dinner. You will be really impressed!!!

Yelp
Food truck turned hotel anchor restaurant. Tasty, fresh food in a cool atmosphere. We both had lime Shrimp tacos with pinto bean dip, salsa & chips. The tacos were made from homemade tortillas, which were super gorgeous, but fell apart the moment you picked them up. These are knife & fork tacos and were so full of plump spicy shrimp, fresh greens, cilantro, onion, guacamole & sour cream that we didn't even mind. I washed mine down with an amazing blueberry thyme Kombucha from Spring Branch. Looking forward to our next visit!

Yelp
I had the Thai basil crispy tofu with egg and rice and it was soo delicious! Definitely would stop for that again! For dessert I had a s'mores brownie and a lavender iced latte and it was the best brownie I have ever had! The coffee was delicious as well!

Yelp
We finally visited the Wheelhouse for the first time and were not disappointed! Love the new location inside the VIB hotel. You order up front at a counter. They serve breakfast, lunch and dinner. They give you a number and you find a seat wherever you'd like in the hotel lobby. There's plenty of seating and it's a nice casual spot. Food arrived in about 7 minutes. We ordered a spice level 3 for our Mexican and it was delicious! Will be coming back soon. Nice spot for a group hangout or casual meal with a friend!

Yelp
I really enjoy the wheel house. A nice blend of Asian and Mexican concepts. My go to is usually the Peanut Chicken Burrito. It's got a nice balance of flavor and you can get it with some spice. The portions are also very generous. I like that they have a lunch size available as well. The service is also pretty quick and they have updated their outdoor seating very nicely.

Adrienne B.

Yelp
I've eaten here before and it was good but tonight was extremely disappointing. I ordered drunken noodles and it was completely inedible. The flavor was bitter and chemical. The whole dish tasted so strongly of anise that the other flavors were drowned out. Worst of all, the chicken was just dry, shredded chicken dumped on top with no sauce or anything. I would still cautiously recommend this place but whatever you do, don't get this dish. It was awful and now I get to eat peanut butter and jelly for dinner after paying $15 for takeout I couldn't eat.

Yelp
We live in KC and were here on business for my husband's work. We were looking for a good street taco for lunch when I found this place. My husband is low carb and wanted a place that he could eat, so we chose here, and man, one of the best decisions ever! I ordered the mojo tacos. The girl taking our order was very nice and explained the different heat levels (1 is the lowest, 5 is the highest heat) and how my husband could turn the regular carb items on the menu into low carb. I got the level 3 heat which had just a tad bit of heat. My husband ordered the sweet steak, but as a bowl, so without rice and a wrap/tortilla. He had the level 4 heat and said while it had some spice, wasn't crazy, burn you for life heat. Was just the right amount. We both loved our food. They both were visually appealing, but also tasted fresh and like real food, not some fast food crap. They have their own take on their food, which is refreshing. We will definitely come back here again the next time we are in Springfield! The food is definitely worthy of 5 stars, but I have one little nit pick - which is their little outdoor seating area does not have shade! It was only in the upper 80's when we were there, but it was sunny and hot, and felt more like in the upper 90's, too hot to sit there and eat. We took our food back to our vehicle for air conditioning while we ate. To be fair, I'm a fair skinned redhead and I burn in like two seconds in the sun. And I think their web page says you can go eat inside the coffee shop next door (which we wanted to try but didn't have time this visit) but that seems kind of weird to me. I think some umbrellas or a simple canopy would do the trick. Just need a little shade :) But do yourself a favor - if you like good, quality food with uniqueness, try this place! It's a great meal, at an affordable price, that you won't forget!

Yelp
You know you've found something special when a food truck vendor hands you a burrito in a box and, with a look of genuine concern, warns, "This could get messy." What elicited these semi-ominous words of caution, you ask? Look no further than my standard order at The Wheelhouse, which combines their veggie mojo and chicken burritos into one human-head-sized bundle of unspeakable deliciousness. And yes, it really is that massive - so big, in fact, that even with my insatiable appetite, I often fail to finish it in a single sitting. It's also big on flavor thanks to liberal use of Wheelhouse's mojo sauce and my request that they make it extra-spicy (4 on an available scale of 5). Honestly, it's probably the best burrito in the city, and even with all the extras (say yes to the guacamole; you won't regret it), it's comparable in cost to what one might expect at a Chipotle or Qdoba. Wheelhouse's menu has a number of other gourmet takes on ethnic classics that other diners might find appealing, but when I've found something this good I rarely deviate from it. So, if you see me toting a burrito-shaped to-go box somewhere on St. Louis St., you can safely assume you know exactly what's inside - and soon to be inside of me.

Yelp
Great vegan menu and the restaurant is modern and bright. The Buffalo cauliflower is really good. I would recommend trying it.
google avatar

Allie G.

Yelp
So many vegan options - but also amazing meat options too! As one of the only affordable healthy options in Springfield I am so happy I found this place!
google avatar

Julie H.

Yelp
Chicken peanut burrito bowl is the best and the vegan (cauliflower) wings are addicting.
google avatar

Brookelyn C.

Yelp
On our 15hr drive home from Colorado to Memphis my husband and I were so excited to find such a killer spot with vegan options and a bar, especially in these smaller towns where there isn't much to choose from. The service was great, drinks were awesome, environment was comfortable, and food was amazing. Highly recommend if you want some clean/delicious grub and a refreshing cocktail to wash it all down. Wheelhouse will most definitely be our main stop if we're ever driving through.
google avatar

Yelp
I was down in Springfield for work staying at the Vīb hotel. I thought, looks okay, maybe I will grab a bite. Two weeks later and I have had the chips and bean dip almost daily. The Kombucha on tap is beyond amazing! I suggest lavender, but they are all good! The fish tacos are delicious, I do wish they were grilled, but either way, they are delicious. Kimchi is a great side for me, as I grew up with my best friend's Korean mom making fresh Kimchi regularly. Love this little place!! Oh desserts? Don't get me started!
google avatar

Jake L.

Yelp
A great find if you want healthy, fresh vegetarian and vegan options in Springfield. House made falafel as an appetizer was pretty much a meal all by itself. The vegan aioli paired well. I went with the veggie bowl plus tofu as an entree and it was a huge portion. Tons of tofu, a good peanut sauce, veggies, rice and greens. I threw in a couple of the falafel from the appetizer as well and I hungry for hours. Friendly staff, kids menu (quesadilla and cheese sandwiches for mine). Would definitely go back next time I'm in town.

Kaylie K.

Yelp
We circled around the parking lot for a bit trying to find the place.. it is inside of the hotel! Other than that, amazing food! Lots of options for a lot of different diets. Fried rice was awesome. Highly recommend. Great service and beautiful set up. Also lots of great looking desserts. We didn't try any, but they sure looked good!
google avatar

Yelp
Cold days require deliciously warm food. And today was the perfect day to try Wheelhouse for the first time. We ordered for delivery to our work and were not disappointed. As always, we ordered two different meals to split. The burrito, with a level 3 spice, was not only filling, but this fusion item was fantastically delicious! Because we were still full, we opted to eat our second item, the Drunken Noodles, at home. The reheat went well and the meal was satisfying. However, the chicken was dry, something a coworker had mentioned as well. This is our reason for a 4/5 star rating. We hope to eat in house next time and try a few more offerings. Definitely going back!
google avatar

Amanda F.

Yelp
I had heard great things about this place but was pretty underwhelmed. Cauliflower wings were a surprise hit with my group -- very good. Everything else was just okay. Based on our experience I don't think I'd go back or recommend it.

Yelp
Great food truck in Springfield, and may be the best tacos I've had in the area! They have a bit of outside seating underneath a small canopy in case you'd like to relax when the weather is nice, but I took my order to-go. I had the sweet steak tacos, with a "3" spice level, and a side of guacamole (order comes with chips and two small corn tortillas for a total of ~$10). Pretty solid portion size, and the flavor was great. I liked the Mexican cheese and good quality meat. I would definitely get these again, but they have quite a few unique fusion combinations that I'd like to try on another visit. The Wheelhouse website and online ordering can be a bit tricky to manage, so you may encounter some issues. However, the food was made quickly, I received a text confirmation, and it was ready for pickup in about 30 minutes. The staff at the counter were very friendly, and they recommended calling in if you have any type of discount or promo code to redeem.

Armand G.

Yelp
We got the orange chicken, pad Thai large and drunken noodles large. The one positive is that the pad Thai and drunken noodles was a lot of food. I think two people can eat from a large plate. As far as the food we honestly did not like it. Everyday Thai that is also in Springfield is way better in taste. I don't think we will be going back to wheelhouse
google avatar

Tara M.

Yelp
This food truck is spot on. Vegan friendly. Huge portions. The vegan Reuben was amazing. We had the veggie burrito special and pineapple fried rice as well. Tons of flavor. The staff is awesome. Super friendly.
google avatar

Paige T.

Yelp
This is such an unexpected place- it's inside a hotel and has bits of Thai, Korean, and Mexican food. I had the drunken noodles with shrimp, which were pretty tasty but could have used more heat and veggies. My coworker had the kimchi fried rice and loved it. Nice modern decor and it's a quiet spot, good for conversations.

V F.

Yelp
Oh you guys are sneaky. All these great reviews... what a bust. We arrived at the lobby all very nice, ordered $70 in food for a family of 5. Pad Thai, cauliflower wings (peanut sauce), kimchi fries, drunken noodles, chicken basil and orange chicken. The noodles were over cooked and all clumped together it al turned into a huge piece if dough, the noodles are not regular length either, overwhelming taste of Thai basil The Thai basil chicken was way to crispy the sauce was good but the chicken was left in to fry for too long. Where is the Kimchi? Tasted nothing like kimchi The orange chicken is Katsu chicken with what taste like a generic store bought sauce my son immediately said the name of the store brand sauce we get at the H-Mart. If you have an experienced pallet , avoid it. You will compare it to everything good you've had and the past and it will not live up to the hipe. This "fusion" had to work at some point to make it to a hotel lobby. The bar and the locations are in great condition but to make matter worst we all got the runs and still have a 6hr drive.

Yelp
This place is located in the Vib Best Western hotel on Sunshine. All I can say is, they started as a food cart and now they have a presence. The place is packed all hours. Tells me they have a following and the food must be good. And it's warranted.
google avatar

Leah B.

Yelp
The Wheelhouse is a counter-service restaurant on the ground floor of the Vīb hotel at Sunshine and Glenstone. The interior is bright, modern, and casual with plentiful seating, large windows, and airy high ceilings. A welcome addition to Springfield's somewhat lacking vegetarian restaurant scene, this is one of the few places in town with a variety of vegan offerings. I had the vegan drunken noodles, my husband had the chicken pad Thai, and my daughter had the orange chicken which was on special. All the dishes were well-prepared, served piping hot, and were lovely and flavorful. A word of caution: they ask you to specify a heat level between one and five for your meal. I chose two and it was almost too hot. So maybe start with a one and work your way up. Also, the large portion of noodles is **large.** This is also a nice place to have coffee. We had an iced caramel latte that had plentiful whipped cream over coffee that was nice and strong. They had desserts in a case but we didn't try them. The staff was pleasant and efficient. Finally, follow them on Instagram! They have a great presence there and you can find out more about daily specials and such. We will definitely be back, most likely for breakfast because I have heard good things.

Yelp
pad Thai was awful. overly drenched in sauce. could not taste any of what it was eating of the meal. it should be noodles with sauce not sauce with noodles. disgusting.

Lacy H.

Yelp
I don't like to leave poor reviews, however I also don't like to pay for poor food. We ordered both Asian and Mexican food here and all of it was extremely bland. When I asked for salt, the employee said he didn't think they had any. The chicken strips and french fries were pretty good. I wanted to like this place, but the food just wasn't good at all.

Tony N.

Yelp
Today, I came in and had the pad Thai with chicken and my girlfriend had the pineapple fried rice. The fried rice was actually pretty good, but on the other hand the damn pad Thai was horrendous. The sauce that they had on the pad Thai took away the flavor of the noodles and chicken because it was overly drenched in the sauce. This is to the workers, next time you serve the pad Thai, ease down on the sauce and then it would actually be good. We also had the kimchi fries which was not that bad. The fries were kinda of bland and need salt like how fries are meant to be.
