White Hart

"There’s a lot to love about this imposing 15C chantry house. There’s the three-storey, vaulted dining room for starters, joined by a cosy open-fired bar and a minstrels’ gallery, while outside you’ll find a terrace, a vegetable garden and an outdoor kitchen with wood-fired oven. The cooking is guided by their own seasonal produce, with both British and Mediterranean influences on the flavoursome, carefully prepared dishes. The friendly service team run the restaurant well." - Michelin Inspector

Google
Words really cannot express how much we enjoyed eating here! Absolutely fabulous food, service and atmosphere! From the minute we walked in the first time, to the minute we left after our third visit, we were already planning when we will be able to get back down from Scotland! Friendly, smiling staff which made our visits so enjoyable. A lovely first meal, followed by our Anniversary meal, and finally finishing with Sunday Lunch, which is by far the best Sunday lunch we have had in a long time. Thank you to to the bar, restaurant staff and chefs, you have an absolute gem of a place and we look forward to seeing you again.

We sought out a traditional British pub with finer dining and this ticked all the boxes. A quaint location, gorgeous surrounds and a building steeped in history. The food was delicious and service was excellent. The lamb was succulent and tasty and the pork was simply Devine!! We really enjoyed the decor and setting of this venue.

Amazing food and the set menu was incredible value for money. The staff were also fantastic. The only downside is the access. Was difficult getting down the stairs with a buggy.

What an amazing dinner, wonderful welcome & service. The flavours & presentation were unbelievable. We are touring in our motorhome & we booked dinner & staying overnight in the carpark. Thanks. Would definitely return if in the area again.

We came here for our anniversary meal. It was fantastic and the staff were lovely. The food was cooked very well and the portions were bigger than we had exspected. We will absolutely return. Recommended.

Google
Outstanding food and service. This is the best 'pub lunch' (it's fine-dining x pub-lunch really) I have ever had. And the sticky toffee pudding is a work of art. The setting is very lovely, in a 15th century farmhouse, and complements the food, with a sense of rustic classiness. I would come here every weekend if I could!

Google
One of the best restaurant in Oxfordshire. This is my third time going there, this time we bought our family as their first time, they were very impressed and enjoyed the food so much. Staffs are super friendly and helpful.

Google
A nice place to have lunch outside. It's an old (historic?) building. We sat outside and had the set lunch. The plates were beautiful. The fried octopus and haddock were solid, but the not-fried dishes were better. The service was very good. Will come back for the lunch and have some local ingredients.

Yelp
Set in an historic hall, the White Hart is really something special. Great home cooked food, served with some lovely touches. Seasonal menu. Superb Sunday roasts though sometimes you need to order a side of veg to go with them. Their signature roast pork and crackling is delicious. Good wine list and nice cocktails and Gins; non alcoholic "mocktails" options too.

Yelp
An amazing restaurant in a historic 15th century pub owned by a husband (chef) and wife team. The food was exquisite and the presentation was wonderful, nicest belly of pork I can remember eating. Typically smaller portions but very tasty and filling. The desserts were awesome and the hot chocolate fondant was ever so light, creamy and rich. A good selection of wines and all other drinks from the pub served by staff who couldn't do enough for us. Extremely busy and a good idea to book as I don't think there are many restaurants of that standard in the area. Quite a few certificates stating that they are in the Good Food Guide and Michelin Guide etc.

Yelp
A charming 15th century building converted into a bar and restaurant in a pretty little village near Oxford. Friendly and welcoming they have an excellent menu with a three course meal costing from around £23. http://www.whitehart-fyfield.com

Yelp
I was taken here by my relatives and, having never heard of it, was very pleasantly surprised. It's actually very well known and is definitely worth booking in advance: we just turned up on a weekday lunchtime and the place was nearly fully booked. The staff are exceptionally polite and friendly, the inside is nice to sit in, but outside is nicer on a sunny afternoon. I had a lemonade which wasn't very Some of the starters can be ordered as main courses, but they're substantially sized as it is. I had the salmon main, which, like most good food, came out looking disappointingly small, but more than filled me up and was absolutely delicious. My auntie ordered the mezze platter of pitta and olives with some exotic dips, which the waitress explained. We had strawberry tart for putting, which I think was aimed at those with more sophisticated tastes than me: the sauce was balsamic vinegarthere's nothing wrong with chocolate or cream if you ask me! The dishes are quite expensive (£13-£20 for a main), but worth the money. Most of the ingredients are locally sourced, so you can feel ethical as well! Food is served: Tuesday - Saturday: 12-2:30pm and 7-9:30pm (nibbles available in the bar from 6pm) Sunday: 12-4pm

Yelp
Highly rated establishment in many of the well known guides incl. Alistair Sawday's Special places, Michelin Restaurant Guide, Good Pub Guide, Good Food Guide, AA Pub Guide. Although more expensive than the average pub, it is not overly so. We went for the Sunday Lunch Fixed Price menu - 2 courses £17, 3 for £20.00. The food was delicious and IMO much better quality and more interesting than the standard pub fare. Fresh and, where possible, locally sourced it represented excellent value for money. We found the portion sizes about right, neither mean or overwhelming. The service was very good and friendly - my father's pudding came was presented with a candle on it - it was his 80th birthday - a nice touch. Well worth going out of your way to visit.

Yelp
My favourite restaurant in Oxfordshire... the menu is always changing and uses fresh and seasonal ingredients. The pork belly is almost always on the menu and is absolutely to die for! The owners Kay and Mark are lovely and their staff knowledgeable and friendly. Now to find an excuse to go back soon...

Yelp
Lovely building, OK service. Nice food, VERY expensive and felt ripped off. Many places around the area much better service and much better value for money! Not a 'Pub' with a restraunt just a nice-ish place to eat. No real atmostphere.

Yelp
Happening on to this wonderful pub was a very fortuitous event for us! We assumed we would find a pub along the way from Cardiff to Oxford but we never imagined it would be this special. The food was worthy of a Michelin star (compared to many we've eaten at in France). The waitstaff were so kind and very friendly. The main courses were so beautifully presented and even more delicious to eat. The sticky toffee pudding alone is worth a trip to Gloucestershire never mind the pub being situated in a beautifully preserved 550 year old+ building and running as a pub for over half a century. They have a great selection of beer and wine too! There was only one down side to this pub...as we didn't sit outside on the gorgeous patio, we were subjected to loud, odd music that was an unsettling mix of 80's Rock and r&b almost hits. Without this weird selection of loud music, it would've been a perfect dining experience. Easy to fix...next time

Yelp
Excellent place. Traditional British fare, seasonal menu, locally sourced. We come here twice a year, and every time we try something original, new and amazing. This time it was pumpkin chips and pumpkin lasagne. Fan-tas-tic!

Yelp
Famous for being "visited" by the notorious Bullingdon Club a couple of years ago, The White Hart is an absolutely stunning 15th Century building - huge beamed hall with minstrel's gallery. Fabulous food - imaginative menu and apparently mostly locally sourced, not cheap (main courses around £15), but good value for excellent quality. Also very professional friendly staff. Nice bar area with good real ales including from local Oxfordshire White Horse Brewery. The garden is lovely - a large patio area with water feature and lawn beyond featuring beautiful deer statue. The White Hart is well worth a visit - if only to check out the historic building itself.

Yelp
A great gastro-pub. We've been coming here for over thirty years. Obviously many different versions over that time but always a favourite. Great, sophisticated food, ok it's not the cheapest, but compares well with any restaurant. Roast pork and gravadlax are two favourites. And starter sharing platters, especially the fish one. One tip, Sunday lunch is great but they run a smaller menu, leaving off some of my favourites. Any other day is actually more representative of the chef. Nice garden if the weather is good. Only downside: the loos, which have a 15th century feel. But I expect they are constrained by listed building regulations.

Yelp
Went along to their hog roast, live music & beer festival on Bank Holiday Monday. It was an excellent day. It was busy but staff seem to cope very well with food & drinks order. Sadly they stop serving food at 3pm and they also shut on Sundays at 3pm. There is a lovely feel to the place. The restaurant is very quaint with vaulted ceiling. The garden has plenty of tables & a large garden area for kids to play. Dogs are welcome outside. Food is more expensive there than in other pub/restaurants in the area but you not only pay for the quality of the food but also for the setting.

Yelp
We were treated to a meal at this establishment by friends. We found the owners to be welcoming, the building to be interesting, the staff efficient and the wine and food was excellent. We will be returning when in need of some serious pampering! I&M, J&M

Yelp
Sadly this amazing traditional English country pub has become yet another miserable gastropub with expensive "cheffy" nonsense replacing the wonderful old favourites and previously warm friendly atmosphere.
