"It may not be the most characterful of pubs but the views are far-reaching, the service is friendly and the chef-owner can certainly cook. There’s plenty to choose from here, with an unfussy set menu, an adventurous tasting menu and an à la carte which balances the two. They also hold monthly themed events." - Michelin Inspector

We have been to the White Post a number of times, including for our wedding reception earlier in the year. Brett and Carly (and the rest of the team) are fantastic and always go out of their way to make you feel welcome. Anyone looking for lush food with a brilliant view, friendly service and a warm atmosphere needs to give the White Post a visit!

Food was great, all very very nice. I had the seafood platter as did my husband and everything from the starter to the cheeseboard was great. Fantastic view out the back of the fields, wonderful on a warm summer evening.

Excellent Sunday roast, selection of 3 meats for the table to share with all the expected trimmings in generous portions. Great puddings as well. Staff very friendly and attentive too. Cracking place.

Great food every time I have been! Don't listen to the other one/two star reviews, they obviously know nothing about fine dining! Staff are always friendly and the owner is super nice

Mediocre service with uninspiring menu. But this is a “gastropub”, it’s certainly not a restaurant. Staff are perfectly pleasant though many appeared inexperienced. Expensive when adding drinks, making it not great value. Wouldn’t bother going back.

When I arrive, the first thing you see is a beautiful view, then when you enter the place you feel a comfortable and beautiful place, as if it were a house. then I loved the deal!! It is as if they know you and treat you with great humor and attention, for them my first 5 stars!! Then we ordered some scallops, and fish and meat, the food was very delicious and well presented, we loved everything!! I would repeat without a doubt. I recommend 100%

Went for Sunday lunch with a party of 5. The food was average and significantly overpriced. Yorkshire puddings we’re rubbery and cold and the potatoes weren’t crispy and had that re heated taste, hence not freshly cooked. No green veg served just roast carrots and parsnips which were soggy. The lovely view from the restaurant and pleasant staff were its saving grace. I would recommend the Half Moon at Mudford or the Virginia Ash at Henstridge instead if this place,

Today was the second visit in the week. Sunday lunch today, which was epic. Best Sunday lunch I ever had. Legends for staff. Photos of the visit attached. Only one thing, the table was booked for noon, but the young lady came to our table at 1.25 and asked us to leave, as the table was booked for someone else. I hadn't even finished the coffee. I had to race the coffee and leave, having paid for the best meal. I did ask if there was somewhere else we could sit, to finish the coffee and perhaps consider pudding, but she never came back to say. Otherwise, awesome 😀☘️

Yelp
I was lucky enough to see a Tweet from the owner and head chef offering a deal that was so good, I drove for 4 hours to see if it was a good as it looked. It was. Once you go in, its warm and lovely inside with a real fire and staff that are about as passionate as you can get. And then you see the view. Its incredible. We luckily got there just in time to watch the sun set in the distance, over the stunning countryside. Perfect. Our dinner was outstanding. We paid just £150.00 for a 10 course tasting menu, bed and breakfast. Dinner was not off the standard menu, as my wife doesn't eat meat, however, Brett, the very talented owner/chef catered perfectly with dishes that include scallops, mackerel, risotto with pumpkin and black truffle, sea bass and salmon. I was even given a beef main course of fillet, a mini burger and braised beef with marrow bone. Incredible! After all the above, we had to endure desserts. Fortunately, they were equally good. Frozen pineapple ravioli followed by a crowd pleasing trio of chocolate deserts. To finish off, I fancied a brandy. They only had Somerset brandy - as I was told, they do EVERYTHING they can to keep everything local, including the brandy. I couldn't be happier. I spoke to Brett, the head chef and he said he was just happy cooking great food. I think if he carries on at the standard that he is currently at, he will certainly end up with 3 AA rosettes and maybe even a Michelin star. Its really that good. Back to breakfast. It was simply perfect. Great ingredients, the eggs are from the families own chickens in the garden, he bacon and sausage are from a local farm. All the ingredients are top class with great cooking. I have eaten breakfasts at 30+ venues in my home city of Birmingham. This would be the best. Its that good. It was certainly one of the best breakfasts I have ever eaten! The cooking is top class too.

Yelp
This pub/restaurant used to be a drinking pub, but has just been taken over by Chef Brett Sutton. The new White Post is a lovely restaurant and pub with 3 rooms available for Bed and Breakfast. Specialising in modern British cuisine, the menu is seasonal and uses predominantly ingredients from local Dorset/Somerset producers.
