There's not a lot to say, except this is a shining star in Wellfleet. A terrific menu cooked beautifully, a lovely front yard to eat in under gorgeous Cape sunsets...

Wonderful restaurant - with an early bird special from 5-6 pm. We have not been here for some time as we moved. Since we were back visiting, we decided to drop by. I had the New England clam chowder, a salad with choice of dressing, and the prime rib. Delicious! My wife had the Kale soup and baked cod. She lived hers as well. Give it a try! I strongly recommend.

Google
Amazing food, wonderful service, great atmosphere, fair prices. Excellent swordfish, gourmet quality steak, fine dessert, excellent bread- we forgive the $5 surcharge! We eat at many well-rated restaurants but this is definitely at the top of the list.

We really walked in to this restaurant with great expectations. It is very quaint and tastefully decorated. We found prices to be reasonable. However, our server could not answer basic questions on the type of bread he was serving and made no attempt to get an answer; the crackers were stale; the restaurant won’t accommodate any variation to their menu (i.e. only children could have French fries; adults can only choose from baked potato or rice); and lobster and baked stuffed shrimp were very small. There were other issues too but don’t want to knit pick. We would not go back or recommend this restaurant.

The food was very well prepared, but lacked any distinct flavor (a steak & fresh caught cod). The wait staff were very nice. This might be a good place to eat, but I would not recommend it for anything special.

My family of 5 stayed on property recently and needed dinner quickly. We ordered 2 chicken teriyaki and 3 NY strip steaks. It was ready in 20 minutes and my kids devoured everything. The baked potatoes were amazing and the flavor of the chicken was the best teriyaki I've personally ever tasted. We went back the last night of our vacation for the same items. It was still incredible! Very reasonably priced as well!

Quaint, cozy pub and restaurant with basic yet tasty food steeped in lots of New England charm. What's not to love? The fish and chips were good. Friends at steak tips which were very tender though mild in flavor. Strong pub menu, with lots of options. I'll go back to try some of the other dishes.

My husband and I discovered this place on our honeymoon 16 years ago and loved it. Went back twice on that vacation. This year, I took our 2 kids here and they loved it so much, they wanted to go back twice! The early bird special is a great value!

Yelp
Looks like an old house so we missed it and had to circle back . Sign is on top of restaurant . We were not able to sit in restaurant because of private party so we sat in bar area . Lots of fishing paraphernalia on the walls . Dated furniture which gave it a retro vibe . Server prompt . A few fresh fish specials that server said were caught that day . Went with stuffed shrimp . Hubs had fisherman's platter . Decent portions . Average tasting . Clean and affordable .

Yelp
My absolute favorite outer Cape restaurant. The fish is always fresh and tasty and the chocolate pudding cake is a treat. Love hanging out in the tavern - old school charm.

Yelp
Very nice people and great service! They are small but there is something very comforting about it. I stopped by this place with my family on vacation and was very pleased with my visit. Would definitely come again.

Yelp
The worst meal we've had in a long time. Had low expectations to begin with, but the food was beyond bad. Saturday evening at 7:30pm at the peak of the season on the Cape (late July); almost empty restaurant with only 2 tables with diners. Should've been a sign that says - run now. Ordered chicken wings and Caesar salad for appetizer. Server comes back in few mins to say they don't have chicken wings (???). Ordered chicken parm, shrimp scampi, bluefish special, and baked seafood. All pasta dishes where completely tasteless and had a lot of water in them; the cook didn't even bother to drain the pasta. No salt was added to anything. Chicken tasted horrendous. Bluefish had raw onions and melted cheese on top. Whoever is in the kitchen clearly does not care about what is being served. Horrible; stay away.

Yelp
Not sure what a few of these reviews are about, except maybe this isn't a city restaurant lol. Old school family business, friendly as heck, quality traditional seafood menu. Any busy place this far out on the cape has trouble keeping enough staff during shoulder seasons, and there are also tour buses that can slow things down... but was great for me. I got the only empty seat in the Tavern section. Baked scallops, fresh made slaw & potato salad...and a drink still under $20. Great deal, and really good.

Yelp
Cool ambiance for a place that's been around since 1894. Other than that it wasn't that great for the price. My wife and I had the striped seabass blackened and it was ok although my 5 year old did like it. My moms salmon was very dry and my son's steak was just average. Very nice staff and the treasure box for the kids is a very nice touch.

Yelp
Hard to believe that there are so few reviews here for the Whitman House Restaurant. I know it isn't a trendy establishment, but the food is always solid and dependable. I am partial to the Bass Tavern which is always full of locals. Get the striped bass if it is available, you won't find better. Kudos to Susie the bartender.

Yelp
If I could give less than one star I would. They charge 4$ extra for the same size of chowder served as an appetizer but for a meal. Waiter had RANCID breath, could not pronounce words correctly and would not let us do separate checks with a party of 13. "No Cell Use Allowed"... what is this 1856? If you like overpriced, mediocre food with poor service this is the place for you.

Yelp
No question the best restaurant on Cape Cod. Outstanding service and excellent food. This place is a classic restaurant the kind you can't find anymore. A must visit quality and service at its best!

Yelp
It started out good when we sat down and ordered a bottle of 2013 Jordan Cab and some little necks. Our server "Izzy" was somewhat attentive. So we ordered our dinner and then a table of 6 came in and we were an afterthought. The service was awful from there and to me that is an insult to the highest degree. When we asked for our check and handed the card to him that was the last we saw of him. The hostess brought it over to us. I hope he doesn't wonder why I gave him $20 on $167. If he does, he is an absolute moron. This being said the 2 star rating is for the horrendous service. The food was decent and the ambiance was as well. Too bad because this was my wife's birthday and they knew that ahead of time but neglected to acknowledge her. Shame on them. We will not be back and I would be very hesitant to suggest that anyone goes there.
