I've heard good things about this place but I will have to go again and hope I have a better experience. I got avocado toast and the avocado was loaded with lime and face twisting amount of lime and topped with a crazy amount of green onion, that part was okay because I like onions but ALL I could taste was lime, I like lime but it was too sour to eat. The staff was also not very friendly. Since I've heard good things I will try it again and hope it was just a bad day.

Google
I’ll give 5 stars when you get a LIT OPEN 💡 sign! The tiny little open closed dot isn’t cutting it and we keep on driving. You always look closed! I’ve been a loyal customer since the beginning. Thx 🙏

Google
I deliver food for Uber Eats and I have eaten literally every bowl around town. This was my first time eating at The Whole Bowl. Though I have delivered from there before I don't usually have time to stop and eat while I'm working. After the warm smells and the happy people as I was making deliveries I took the time to come back to get a bowl for myself. So glad I did. The sauce is so good and the price is $4.50 cheaper than the closest competitions bowl. There are a lot of bowls out there with the same combination of rice and beans, cilantro, black olives, sour cream, and avocado but they have the best sauce by far. And a big plus is that the serving size was big enough I have a little left over for a snack later.

Google
The experience that I have with Whole Bowl on N. Vancouver has not been the best. The staff is rude and lack attention to detail. Frequently "forgets" adding cookies to the orders and they never make right, but instead, insist on customers buying another cookie or making a complaint with the manager. These cookies are $4.00/each, and I can't imagine how many cookies are being missed in a day. This same thing happened today with my coworker, who went there for lunch. Her cookie was missed so she went back 30- minutes later. When she told them her cookie was missed, she was offered a free 10 day old cookie or to buy a fresh cookie. I can't support a business that treats their customers poorly.

Jacquelyn Hammond

Google
Regularly forgetting to add over priced cookies to orders and often rude when providing "service". Offered colleague a 10-day old cookie when she returned to ask for what she paid for. Given the options in the area, I'd skip over this spot and find something else nearby as it's not even the greatest rice/beans combo. Not sure about the other locations, but this one is a persistent let down. Won't be returning.

Google
So good! Didn’t even realize how tasty and fulfilling it would be. The kiddos didn’t even realize they were eating vegetarian food! The person working was extremely friendly, personable and quick! We had our 4 bowls and chips within a couple minutes! I wish we had one closer to our house but I will definitely be coming back when we are close!

Google
What a good comfort bowl of food come grab you some of this whole bowl. It is absolutely amazing. The sauce is delicious.

Google
Hands down my favorite bike ride snack. After 30 miles of riding, it is now a ritual to stop by here to fuel up. I always leave feeling full and feeling good.

Yelp
I've been getting this 2-3x/week because it's truly addicting and honestly very affordable. Super friendly staff and totally fills me up for a day of hiking, cycling, or just exploring the city

Toni B.

Yelp
Yummy food, consistently good., definitely one of our favorite places. Healthy fresh food that tastes great!

Yelp
Whew the hype is true!!! The big bowl fully loaded was truly what I needed today! Delicious and packed with veggies and beans and flavor! They have vegan options available too! Love that they list the calories on the website as well! Delicious and hitting calorie goals can't beat it! It's an order at the counter type place no inside seating! But, there was seating outside!
google avatar

Yelp
I LOVE the Whole Bowl and always try to make a stop whenever I visit Portland. Post-pandemic, the cost has increased by $2 but love supporting a sustainable local business that encourages vegetarian and vegan eating! Plus, they have the BEST coconut water and an impressive hot sauce selection. The service is FAST! However, do not expect have anywhere to sit. It's a window and there is no seating. Pro tip: bring napkins and cuttlery for the car! Additionally, it is only street parking. We lucked out today with a spot nearby with a compost to toss or trash in!

Yelp
Man, stop playing. If you need a whole Bowl of love for, what is it, eight bucks? Then you need to go to Whole Bowl. Why am I even writing a review? I must be bored, because everyone has already said everything that could possibly be said about this place. Let's see if I can say something new. Okay, here it is. Stop obsessing over dining decisions just this once. Walk in. Say one whole Bowl please. Pay. Eat. You will now have a perfect warm delicious Bowl that hugs your body from the inside out. And you didn't need calabrian chili fritters with truffled honey Mayo and a drizzle of Yuzu reduction gastric.

Yelp
Went here for the first time yesterday, and....HOW DO THEY MAKE RICE AND BEANS TASTE SO GOOD??? Seriously, my mind is blown. Ingredients are simple and healthy, and tbh, I didn't expect much. I mean, it's rice and beans and cheese and cilantro and olives and sauce. We just needed something healthy food to bring with us to trivia. How good can that simply bowl possibly be? I don't know if it's because my expectations were low or whatever, but oh em gee, this bowl was delicious and very filling--and for less than $10!! WHAT. Plus, the dude putting our bowls together was super friendly. It's now part of our trivia plan: Whole Bowl to pick up and then off we go to trivia.

Yelp
Simple, healthy and delicious. Not to mention it is super addictive! It really is like eating a hug!! You feel so good after eating it!!! It's so easy to order and it never disappoints you!! The price point is just perfect! The big bowl is a savory blend of brown rice, black and red beans, tillamook cheddar, sour cream, cilantro, black olives, salsa, and our special tali Sauce. I love them all and wouldn't give up on any of them!! They only have one item in the menu with two different sizes! If you want options this isn't the place for you but if you want to fall in love with food, this place won't disappoint you!!

Ori G.

Yelp
I was tip shamed by the employee who made my bowl at the Hawthorne location. After handing me my bowl he asked if the Tesla parked out front was my car after I replied with a Yes, why? he responded in an extremely rude tone with "THEN YOU SHOULD TIP!" This experience really upset me because I am the biggest fan of this place & I regularly tip. I have been to multiple locations around town & have always been treated with respect by everyone until this one time I didn't tip. Again, this occurred at the Hawthorne location.

Doug M.

Yelp
My favorite bowl in Portland! So good/healthy and less than $10 which is rare these days.

Yelp
The whole bowl offers a tasty if not simple lunch item, worth your time to visit. Having the 1 item on the menu, with a variation in bowl size, keeps things simple and fast. If you like vegan, just ask for no dairy. My only gripe is the price - though not expensive it is slightly overpriced for a small bowl of rice, beans and other ingredients.
google avatar

Humam T.

Yelp
This is a small one; there's no seating inside. There is a counter that you can stand by and eat if you are so hungry and can't wait. The lady there was friendly and helpful. She took time to chat with us. Of course you get the same yummy healthy food there. If you skip the cheese to make it vegan, you get extra avocado for the added protein.

Yelp
This place is close to my old work location, and I often ate there for lunch. It's a simple concept with only one menu item... the infamous Whole Bowl which you can get in a small or large sized, and customize it to your liking. The bowl is a savory blend of rice, beans, Thali sauce, cheese, salsa, avocado, olives, sour cream, salsa, and cilantro. The Thali sauce is like liquid crack and really makes the bowl unique. I've seen recipe versions on line, and it seems rather easy to make but I've never tried. As I said above, it's fully customizable so anything you don't like, such as dairy, can be omitted. There are several locations in town, and they're all consistent. It's a pretty healthy lunch at a good price!

Myrian C.

Yelp
Very good place and service. The bowl is delicious made with brown rice, beans, cilantro and more. The special salsa the made is delicious. Every is fresh.

Yelp
Location: I love how there are multiple locations of Whole Bowl in Portland, Oregon! My favorite location though is the one on SE Hawthorne. The one on Vancouver is a nice location if you just want a to go order. Reservation: No need to make a reservation here! Food: I normally order a big bowl. It comes with brown rice, black and red beans, tillamook cheddar, sour cream, cilantro, avocado, black olives, salsa, and their AMAZING TALI SAUCE! Customer Service: Customer service is good. All the workers seem so sweet! Positives: If you only get a few topics, some of the workers charge you less than what a big bowl normally cost. For example, sometimes I get brown rice, black and red beans tillamook cheddar, cilantro, and tali sauce. Because I didn't get all of the toppings, I usually pay $3.00-$3.50. They have a nice selection of beverages as well! LOVE!

Yelp
Friendly, Fast and Affordable! The only have one thing on the menu, which is a delicious bowl with rice, beans, veggies and sauce. You can customize by removing ingredients but you really wouldn't want to. I think the portions were excellent. It only took about 2-3 minutes for my food to be prepared and it only cost $6.50 for the Big Bowl (the larger option). I also tried one of their cookies. It complimented the meal perfectly. It wasn't too sweet and you could tell that it was more healthy than your average cookie, without it being bland. The food was great but the value is really the Star here.

Sasha B.

Yelp
Words cannot describe how much I love this place. I wish I could buy the tali sauce in a bottle and just drink it. The workers are always so nice and make my day. I get it minimum 3 times a week but think about it everyday I don't have it.

Yelp
For a quick, healthy, and inexpensive meal, The Whole Bowl is hands down one of my favorite places in Portland. Sure, they only serve one thing (in two sizes), but they do it so damn well that you'll want it again and again and again. I get the larger size, which is still an incredibly reasonable $6.50. Rice, beans, cheese, sour cream, olives (which I ask to be removed), cilantro, avocado, and tali sauce. It's so warm and wholesome. I always feel so good about my choice to have this for lunch. Also, this location seems to move pretty quickly. If I ever have to wait in line at all, it's only a couple of people. And since they're making one thing over and over with only minor variations, they make that shiz lightning fast. Perfect for a quick lunch. I love The Whole Bowl. Love it love it love it.

Yelp
Whole Bowl is the best! For only $6 for a regular size and $6.50 for a large bowl, it's the perfect place to come for lunch if I need a quick bite. I work fairly close to this location, so this is the spot I frequently come to. I always get all of the toppings, which turn out to be more than enough to keep me full. The convenience, price, and speed of going in and out is the main draw for me, as well as it tastes SO good and healthy, like I'm getting all of the essential things I need to stay energized throughout my workday!
google avatar

Mark H.

Yelp
I was hoping for a bowl that has a lot of veg and some protein. What WB offers is a bowl that is primarily rice and beans, with a little grated cheese, avocado, cilantro, and yummy sauce. All well done, just not the vegetable cascade that I was dreaming of. Wife rates the Kombucha "world class" and will definitely be back for that.
google avatar

Brandon E.

Yelp
Almost missed it when we drove by. The food is killer! My kids even loved it and didn't even realize it's vegetarian! The person working was so kind and personable and was able to make our 4 bowls in a couple minutes. I wish they had a location closer to where we live. We will definitely come back!
google avatar

Dana W.

Yelp
We love Whole Bowl and intentionally drove here across town before they closed. We were disappointed to find the door locked and the worker inside wearing headphones and refusing to make eye contact with us. DON'T VISIT THIS LOCATION!
google avatar

Bill R.

Yelp
Wow great little place, great combination of ingredients I had chips and 2 cookies with a Whole Bowl - sour cream I'll be back
google avatar

Yelp
Been back many times now and it seems they've gotten their act together. This location is now as good as I remember the others being, and am a regular customer.

Yelp
OMG we spent our requisite time trying to find a place that could potentially accommodate my new dietary lifestyle. We found a few options near each other - because you know that there is always a smidgen of subjectiveness to thee reviews. Our route was dictated by the bicycle ride we would have to make from home and and back. The goal was no more than 35 miles round trip as I am recovery from multiple injuries to the same foot. Needless to say we found #TheWholeBowl in north Portland. May I say for such a small menu your options feel unlimited! Two size options with about eleven ingredients to choose from to make your dish. If your dietary constraints are more restrictive than vegan you will love this place. Brown rice, black and red beans, a bit of avocado and small amount of black olives was delicious and VERY satisfying. I ended up sharing my bowl with the hubby. Additionally they have cold drinks, no alcohol, but kombucha in bottles and on tap. This most definitely worth the effort to visit. Plus the staff was uber friendly too
google avatar

Yelp
This singular item restaurant, provides customers with a unique twist to a potluck and picnic staple, the seven layer dip. Definitely recommend accompanying your bowl with chips and their vegan cookies.

Yelp
Needed something fast but still somewhat healthy that I could grab and take back to work. I have been curious about this spot but resistant thinking: 'it's only beans and rice.' So desperation and hunger called mid project and I needed something quick. The Whole Bowl was close by and I went for it... walked in and a lovely lady (whom is studying interior design- I didn't catch her name) was super genuine and friendly and the whole process took about 2 minutes. This is mostly a take-out joint although I think there was some bar seating. Clean and efficient! Got back to deliver the bowls (we ordered the smaller size with everything, although they can customize)- and smiles all around. Granted it is beans and rice mixed with extra yumminess. Perfect amount of food, super reasonable price and tasty. Highly recommend when you need real food that's fast.

Yelp
We loved this simple, healthy, filling food. It was the perfect meal during a quick pit stop in Portland on our way up to Seattle. Wish we had this in Seattle too!
google avatar

Emily M.

Yelp
Quick healthy and filling! My fav spot for lunch on the run. The sauce is extra special!
google avatar

Yelp
I've died and gone to vegetarian/gluten-free heaven! Tali Sauce is delicious! It's so fresh and just right! And GF Chocolate Chip cookie.
google avatar

Yelp
Like Yelp says, five stars, as good as it gets! I've been a Portland local my whole life, but just tried Whole Bowl for the first time this year - wowza I've been missing out. Visited the Whole Bowl on Vancouver for lunch today, my bowl was brimming with healthy but tasty morsels, and the customer service was A+ even though there was a long line. I'll definitely be back!
google avatar

Brian E.

Yelp
I'll hit every location they have! $6 for a good portion of delicious food!

Yelp
Usually super tasty, but I just went in again and the girl barely put any sauce on it so it was bland this time

Yelp
I was a very loyal customer to all the Whole bowl locations. I work downtown and built a very good relationship with the bowlista Marrissa Joyce. She ALWAYS made me a perfect bowl and ALWAYS greeted me with a warm smile and good vibes. I literally saw her everyday. As soon as she saw me walking up she had already started my bowl. Her customer service skills were astounding and when I was losing my mother she always had kind words for me and I always felt better after leaving her cart. I left home to attend to my mother's affairs and was gone for awhile and when I returned I went to get a bowl and to see Marissa and to my surprise she was no longer employed there. When I inquired about her the new girl Becca I believe was her name was rudely stated we fired her because she was stealing and no longer was employed there! I do not believe for a minute that Marissa was a thief nor do I think it is professional to disclose such information to customers. I was hungry so I ordered a bowl anyways and Becca was extremely rude , short and seemed like she would rather be anywhere but at work. She also made my bowl wrong and the beans were hard enough to hurt my tooth. I felt like I bit into a rock. When I informed her that information she literally rolled her eyes when she thought I couldn't see her so I literally just left without my bowl. I NEVER was treated that way by Marissa. Needless to say I will NEVER go to another Whole Bowl again. I make it a mission to support local women owned businesses but the way Becca spoke about Marissa and the poor customer service I experienced soured me to Whole Bowl. I hope Becca does not continue to treat loyal customers this way or speak on former employees in such a manner or loyals like myself will stop patronizing this establishment! BRING BACK MARISSA!

Yelp
Simple, fast, so delicious. Love this place!!! I'll have to take a photo next time, because I ate the meal far too quickly.
google avatar

John S.

Yelp
There is a business philosophy that says limit the scope of what you do, and in that way, do it exceptionally well. This pretty much sums up The Whole Bowl. I buy their large size, take it home, add a pre-cooked organic chicken breast or thigh and I have a complete, heathy and most importantly, CLEAN meal. You can eat here, feel good about what your putting in your body AND enjoy a delicious meal for under $7. TWB does what they do very, very well...

Yelp
I live in the area and frequent many of the excellent restaurants off of Williams and Vancouver Streets. Today I was in a bit of a time crunch, so I thought I would ride my bike down to the whole bowl and grab some lunch. I arrived right at 11:00 when they opened but the door was still locked. I knocked and the lady behind the counter looked at me and just went back to work. I waited outside for 10 minutes thinking that they would open anytime. I knocked again, repeatedly, and a man finally came to the door. When he came to the door he told me that I was welcome to come in, but it was going to be a few minutes. Really? I've been here several times and the customer service is marginal at best, but I've never had it be this bad. I believe that the N. Vancouver location does all of the cooking and prep work for their food trucks. Obviously the food truck prep work is more important. With all of the other excellent choices in the neighborhood, I won't be back.
google avatar

Megan C.

Yelp
This place is easy to miss unless you're looking for it. That being said, look for it! They only have one item and it doesn't look like much when you buy it. But it's amazing and very filling. Highly recommend!
google avatar

Anna H.

Yelp
Healthy, vegan options! So delicious--I eat lunch here weekly and it never disappoints!!
google avatar

Melissa T.

Yelp
I don't get it. It's basically a taco bowl for 6$?? Why doesn't this place have more options? Regardless it was good. The staff was friendly and the line went quickly.
google avatar

Ytteb R.

Yelp
Simple and tasty! Worth it! Love the wooden spoons!! Makes me feel healthier by eating it
google avatar

Tara M.

Yelp
"It's like eating a hug." This dish is comforting, filling & tastes so fresh! I'm always satisfied after I leave the Whole Bowl. The service is quick - I usually come on my 30 min lunch break & leave in plenty of time to eat & enjoy my meal.
google avatar

Kielie K.

Yelp
This place is amazing!!! I have been wanting to try The Whole Bowl for a while now and I'm disappointed I waited to long! This is my new food obsession!! I get The bambino bowl with everything and it's the best thing ever! The ingredients are so simple and so right!!!

Ann C.

Yelp
I have enjoyed the food at this cart but when I went there recently the server was not wearing a mask. I don't think this is safe or respectful of the health of us all.
google avatar

Lavosha B.

Yelp
Love whole bowl, I go here at least twice per week. I order my bowl vegan and upside down; yes upside down. I do this so that I don't lose my toppings, I'd rather lose a little rice if anything is Gona fall at all. It's a must try!
google avatar

Sean D.

Yelp
They serve one thing only, and it's tasty. Price is very reasonable, especially for Portland. Actually you can't get more Portlandy than The Whole Bowl!
google avatar

Portlanders X.

Yelp
Couldn't recommend this place enough. Always the perfect filling lunch, flavorful and hearty without being too much food, even the bigger size. The sauce is the best ever. I've been going here for at least 10 years and the quality has never gone down!
google avatar

Michael B.

Yelp
Excellent place to eat clean and healthy. Friendly attitudes and good vibes in tow. Go here and eat well.

Beth H.

Yelp
Came in for dinner yesterday and ordered the Whole Bowl fully loaded. Not only was the food fresh, warm, and super tasty, but the service was fantastic! The girl working was inviting, friendly and service was quick! The sauce is absolutely out of this world, and for the price, it's a no brainer. Do yourself a favor and go here!!!
google avatar

Yelp
I just had a coworker order $100 worth of food from the whole bowl on Vancouver and they charged us 20% gratuity.....what is the gratuity for? if we would have ordered two separate $50 orders would they not have charged us? I understand doing that at a sit down restaurant but was the gratuity simply a tip for them to make the food its their job to make? I'm so confused and annoyed. I thought they'd throw in some free chips, but instead they asked us for MORE money. wait, they didn't ask, they informed my co-worker that if she wanted to place an order that big they would charge us MORE.
