After reading reviews, I had high expectations, but unfortunately reality fell short.
The restaurant car park was very busy on a Sunday afternoon, so much so, some cars had to park on the path (be aware you may not be able to park in the restaurant car park). The venue is beautiful, the restaurant is classy but not over fussy, you feel immediately comfortable. We were sat at the table and ordered the set menu at £32 per person for 2 courses, we decided to have the mackerel, road beef roast dinner and the salted caramel sponge. The mackerel was beautifully presented but there were 9 bones, aware this isnt easy to de-bone but this is possible if you take your time. I mentioned it to the server and she said she would tell the chef. The roast beef was the star of the show, super soft, cooked perfectly but that was overshadowed but the amount of salt on everything, the veg in the pot was un creative and the larger pieces of cauliflower were undercooked. The salted caramel after the heavily salted main course was a big miss, I didn’t enjoy it, perhaps with a different main it would have been enjoyable. Was really hoping this was going to be brilliant, on our first visit it simply wasn’t.
