San Francisco Bars With Great Arcade Games | Eater SF

"Sister bar to Mission Street’s popular, craft beer covered dive the Sycamore, the Willows has a bigger space, a fuller kitchen with more pub grub like burgers, and several pinball machines plus a big pool table. The place attracts a steady after work crowd for any combination of those attributes. What it lacks in pristine cleanliness, it makes up for in character." - Caleb Pershan

Pretty chill little bar. Enjoyed the karaoke on Sunday night. Pretty damn good burger. Drink prices are pretty decent. Crowd is mixed. Good time.

Google
Took 1h to get simple burgers with fries. You order at the counter and tip straight away, guess that's why they don't care after that. Not cool at all. We came with a party of 5, ordered at the same time and they were bringing out food with 5-10min intervals. And besides food was nothing special

This place will not disappoint! It is chill! I’ve come here twice and will keep coming back I know it. They have good drinks! My favorite is the whisky hibiscus refresher. Both times I’ve some in on a Sunday for brunch. The burgers where very good! We tried the cheeseburger and fried chicken, both were really good. But the fries are even better!!! Their sauces that come with them are good too. Shock to see that not many people have been around brunch. I recommend seating at the bar if you like to converse with the bartender. They are cool. Also they have many board games, pinball machines and a pool table. * disclaimer: I am known to sample the material, then I remember to photograph.

Perfect hidden gem hangout spot. SERVICE: We had a post-wedding event at The Willows. A few days before, we emailed with Tim. He was extremely responsive and welcoming. He reserved us a spot and ensured we were well taken care of. The entire team was quick and accommodating. BAR: There are two areas, which are both decent size. The primary area consists of a bar, pinball machines, booth tables, a community high-top table, and lowered seating around a pool table. The second area consists of more private seating. The bar is a mix between a sports bar, lounge, and dive bar. There are windows on two sides, which provide good lighting. There are multiple TVs, which are great for sporting events. The pool table, pinball machines, and board games are a nice touch, which allow for multiple forms of entertainment. The venue is pretty clean and well-spaced out for easy flow. DRINKS: We chose the venue, in part, because it offers beers, well drinks, and cocktails. All three are affordably priced and provide options for all. We were impressed by the cocktails and options. FOOD: The menu includes sandwiches, salads, fries, etc. We had brussels sprouts, fries, and burgers. Everything was surprisingly good for bar food! OVERALL: I love a bar that provides a good space for people to lounge, talk, and gather. The different seating, entertainment, drink, and food options are all perfect. The volume isn't too loud. So, we could all hear each other, which I like. We stayed for several hours and would have stayed longer if we didn't have a dinner to make. I highly recommend The Willows for nearly any type of hangout or day.

Google
Good beer (I got the barrel house lager), one of the best burgers I've had in a while (DIY burger), reasonable prices for Bay Area. Seems like a nice place to hang.

A lovely bar with great brunch options and kind staff. Theres even a nice tra selection. I liked the biscuits and gravy, but found my side of fried chicken to be dry. I'll definitely go back for something else though!

Shady experiences with the bartender on Thursday, 2/27/25. 1. When I asked for the price of a beer, the bartender told me I could do "favors" if I couldn't afford it. I asked if he meant dishes, and he didn't respond. 2. The bartender put a $60 hold on my credit card without telling me. My actual purchase price was $13. I only found out because my bank sent me a notification in real time. When I asked the bartender about it, he responded by talking to my friend (not me, mind you, the person who asked and whose card he had just taken) that the hold was placed on my card "just in case she can't afford it". I asked if the $60 was a two day hold. Bartender said it would fall off by midnight that night and that it was "normal protocol" to place a hold. The hold did NOT fall off by midnight that not. It fell off today, Monday 3/3. Disrespectful and dishonest, i do not recommend visiting.

Great place to hang out! I went on a Sunday evening and they had trivia going on - very fun! The food was so good! I got the adult happy meal and my boyfriend got the steak and cheese and we both agreed it was one of the best we’ve ever had. Drinks were so delicious!! Staff is friendly and fun - check it out!

Yelp
Every neighborhood needs a classic dive bar. You know, the kind that's sticky, salty, a little questionable, and somehow always exactly what you expect. This place has everything a dive should: dim lighting, grimey everything, and bartenders so aggressively rude it almost feels like performance art. You walk in and immediately know you're not here for the ambiance... or the customer service... or basic cleanliness. But the food? Honestly solid. Their $20 burger is actually kind of a banger: juicy, messy, and way better than it needs to be given the surroundings. When I lived around the corner I was coming here at least twice a week for dinner. Now, here's the kicker: I checked my email receipt after my last visit and saw that the bartender had changed the tip amount. Super shady. I called, and they did refund the difference, but still, not exactly confidence-inspiring. Come here if you want a good burger, a divey drink, and the feeling of being lightly bullied by your bartender. Just check your credit card statement.

Yelp
A hidden gem where you'll find plenty of locals keeping it a cool and fun spot. Their food is great. The "burger of the month" is always yummy. I almost don't even look at the menu anymore because I always trust the burger of the month no matter what it is. Brunch here is super good too and, of course, plenty of beer, pitchers, liquor, good music and a pool table. One of my fav places in town and a great spot in SoMa.

Yelp
Staff here were friendly, and the food was tasty. We ordered a couple burgers and some cheese curds. There were so. many. curds. They were tasty (not super authentic...no squeakiness) and the burgers were big. I would have liked to give 3 1/2 stars if possible. It's a place I would be fine going back to but not one I would necessarily seek out. It had a bit of a dingy feeling- not dirty, just dark with a dive bar vibe.

Mike H.

Yelp
Bar wasn't busy. Waited 10 minutes to have my order taken. Bartender couldn't be bothered. Left without ordering. If zero were a possible rating. I would have selected that.

Yelp
I've been here around four times now, and I LOVE it. It's just super relaxed and they have $8 cocktail specials. My friends and I stop by here for drinks before heading to 1015 Folsom for a concert. The people are always so nice here as well, and the place has a pretty open divey feel.

Yelp
Okay bar and grub place on Folsom and 12th. Crappy neighborhood, but this is SF now. Cheeseburger was okay, service just so-so. Sat at the bar and there were only two other customers there, but the bartender didn't seem to care much about me. Had to aggressively wave him over for another beer because he never looked at me. Whatever. Food was okay but I doubt I'll be back.

Yelp
This place is a local business which usually makes very good food, but I had a very bad experience tonight, as last night on September 23, 2024. I stopped by at 10:30 at night craving a barbecue burger, Kelly (the gentleman) behind the bar took my order, the burger was $21. I also tipped six dollars. I was really looking forward to having a barbecue burger to go. I got home and instead of onion strings. There were thick circular onion rings and instead of barbecue sauce there were some kind of white spicy sauce, I had asked for extra barbecue sauce on the side and jalapeños on the side. There were no jalapeños on the side and there was no barbecue sauce ( not even on the burger), I called Kelly back at the Willow and told him about it. He was apologetic and understood what a let down it was as I had told him that I was looking for barbeque and told me: come back tomorrow and we will remake you the right burger." Today September 24 2024 I went by And the person behind the counter said the chef did not like what you said and he's not going to be serving you tonight so we're not going to help you. I found that to be very rude so therefore, I will not recommend this business . Customer service skills is ZERO, attitude is TEN if the scale was FIVE. Local business should be nicer to earn the business not treat customers poorly. They will go out of business if they keep this up

Steph 4.

Yelp
I often come here for a drink however there's this one bartender who worked on 5/15/2025 around 3:15pm who gave my order to someone who he thought I was there with and didn't care that I never received my order. The fact that he gave my order to someone without letting me know is a red flag. He didn't care that I didn't receive my order or anything. He told me to go find the people he gave it to and get it from them. I hope he gets fired because he just scammed me for my money. One day he will get his karma and I hope I see it.

Yelp
Nice tap room with a pretty good selection at fair prices. I haven't tired the food yet. There are gnats flying around inside since the doors are kept open, but that's typical of any Soma businesses that leave their doors open. Dog friendly!

Yelp
Came here with some family and friends after a nearby show around 9pm on a Friday. We came in with a party of 8 and the place was at about half capacity. So they were not overwhelmed with customers, but certainly understaffed. I can only imagine how stressful an understaffed restaurant/bar can be for the front of house workers, but the way our party was treated was unacceptable. I cannot make any excuses for the girl who was working the bar that night. I'm not one to make assumptions; but the way she treated our party, specifically those of Asian descent felt very intentional and calculated. We were treated rudely and disrespectfully by her from the beginning and I couldn't figure out what our group could have done to provoke such behavior. Whereas the two individuals of our party who were not Asian, were treated the expected standard. It left a sour taste for our whole group, especially after what was a great start to our night. The food wasn't anything special and the quality of the ingredients were noticeably below average. I appreciated the ambiance of the place, but I just hope they employ better individuals. There seems to be a recurring pattern of how certain patrons are treated here based on other reviews. I wish nothing but the best for this business and I hope others have a better experience than me.

Yelp
We come by the Willows pretty often for drinks but we've always been tempted by the food. Finally we made plans to go for a Friday lunch as I really wanted to try the vegetarian sloppy joe (it's only available after lunch and most of the time we're too early). We showed up around 3ish for a late lunch/early dinner and while the place was busy, it wasn't packed and it was pretty easy to order drinks and our food at the bar. It came out quickly... the Impossible sloppy joe for me and chicken tenders for my partner. He was expecting some sort of frozen chicken finger type thing but instead was incredibly surprised at the incredibly well-seasoned and large chunks of juicy delicious chicken and breading he got served. My sloppy joe was just dripping with awesome tomatoey impossible ground "beef" and I almost inhaled the whole thing. The fries were also cooked to perfection. We were super happy to come here for food and we'll happily make this one of our regular lunch locations.

Yelp
Fantastic service by Tom. Had to download yelp to give him this review since I enjoyed him as my bartender so much. Made my night so much better. Hard recommend to swing by this spot!

Yelp
All the women who work here are awesome and the men suck. I like when queer people are working here because even if they're busy doing their job they're not coming off like I'm bothering them asking a simple question about my order or getting a drink. I'm not sure why but it seems like every time I talk to a man working here he is always trying to give me a hard time for no reason. Today I ordered door dash and when I asked the dude working at the liquor bar about the order he was like "well I don't see it" in a very confrontational tone and I mentioned that I'm only asking because the app says it's ready and he told me pretty much "oh well" then my order came. I've seen him be welcoming to customers before so I know he can do it.

Yelp
Burger was fairly massive (very tasty). Good vibes. Fantastic service. Chilen in the hole.

Yelp
Good service. Always Friendly. Good assorted bar food. Good burgers and fries. Too expensive of course. But at least they know how to serve the food hot. I've been in this town 60 years. None of the food in San Francisco is worth the prices anymore. None of it.
google avatar

Anahi G.

Yelp
So, I work right next door and decided to give these folks a try.... Careful ordering off the menu online. It's not accurate. They don't have fried pickles andddd this $13.75 burger somehow ended up being $20 (just the burger...) no change, no receipt... a shame! If there was any due diligence- it would be a to-go spot... after this though, I think not!

Mandi M.

Yelp
The southern fried chicken sandwich was great! The bar had a nice ambiance and the provided board games were a lot of fun for the group.

Heiylo Azalea S.

Yelp
Good vibes, but honestly the service could have been better. There's two bars inside as there's two rooms. I went to the bar in one room and asked for just an orange juice (I'm doing a dry month) and the bartender there was very sweet about explaining that the bar in that room was just beer and shots, and the other bar would have more. So I go to the other room and first thing I noticed is the bartender was gone, nobody knew where he went. Wasn't gone that long, but it definitely wasn't a good look. And then when I asked for an orange juice he openly rolled his eyes. I got my orange juice but I didn't feel welcomed by him at all. Sober people or people doing dry months shouldn't have to feel bad for coming to a bar and not ordering alcohol. I'll definitely go back, but if he's the bartender again I hope his attitude improves next time.
google avatar

Mia D.

Yelp
Go to local divey bar. Bartenders on the average are good but can be overwhelmed at times. Food is ok. Trivia is fun tried it once. Get rid of the pool table takes up to much room. I don't see a lot people playing it when I've been which has been more than a dozen times.
google avatar

RD R.

Yelp
The burgers are the bomb and fries are some of the best I've ever had! My buddy thought so as well. The servers were attentive and friendly! Definitely going back!
google avatar

Maher S.

Yelp
I waited for 1 hour to get a burger and it never showed up, then the server gave me attitude and never explained why it was delayed. I was so hungry and ended up canceling my order and leaving the place. I have had their burgers before and I know they see good but the service and wait time is a big NO, sorry.
google avatar

Abigael Osana T.

Yelp
nothing but good vibes and the best bartenders here! came out to trivia wednesday with a group of friends and had the greatest time. the food took me by surprise and i love me a bar that has great drinks AND food!
google avatar

Filip S.

Yelp
Really fun bar with DJ, two rooms/bars, pool table, and a board game selection. I came here with a large group of friends on a Friday night and had awesome time. The bartender was friendly, music was spot on, and the crowd was fun. The only reason I cut a star is because of their limited beer selection. Otherwise, highly recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
If you're looking for a quick bite and a final round after a night out, The Willows is the place to go. I ordered the Reuben sandwich and a side of fries. Everything came up super quick, and the service was really great! Don't come in expecting mind-blowing quality or Michelin level food, but do come hungry cause the portions are huge and the food is tasty. The only reason I can't give five stars was because the volume inside is really loud. It's difficult to have a conversation in here late at night, but it's also a bar nearby plenty of clubs. So I'm sure if you come in during more regular hours you'll be able to enjoy the space without having to shout! Really enjoyed myself, will be back!!
google avatar

Barbara B.

Yelp
Absolute poor poor customer service! Wow! It's a great location near the clubs/bars but time for retraining of FOH. I prefer to rank all businesses in this area with high scores since I frequent on weekend nights. I have no idea with the drinks or food since service was crap... Pass on... Plus, I work in the industry... Too many other awesome businesses in the area to spend money on friends...
google avatar

Yelp
This place has the best burger south of market, the super crispy fries are always excellent, and the burgers are fantastic they use these Waygu burgers have been excellent and I always got back for more for lunch, early or later dinners in SOMA with a full bar and pub experience this is the place! Also this place has ample outdoor dining spaces, and good for groups!
google avatar

Yelp
Yea I agree Nick has got to go The bar staff is nasty I get wanting to be cool and funky but Nasty and rude? No Food was terrible too- bartender shoved it in front of me and laughed as I ate it without silverware I wasn't going to ask He was already hostile and swearing at others Screw this place
google avatar

Irah S.

Yelp
the elote was so good omg and the vibes are great def gonna go again sometime! Happy hour deals are actually really good too.

Di P.

Yelp
It's a dive bar/restaurant. Nothing special about it. The drinks are decent but pricey. The food is ok too. The environment is kinda dirty though. Expect to swat flies while enjoying your food and drinks.
google avatar

Daniel V.

Yelp
Definitely not a bar for 49ers fans. Also whoever works Sundays is a miserable bartender. Saw him rip down the halloween decorations when asked to get a beer from other room.
google avatar

R B.

Yelp
Delicious. We just ate brunch and devoured everything. Had very old skool SF vibes. Forgot to take pics, so here's a picture of our finished meals! We ate there around lunch-ish and had the DIY Burger and Breakfast Table. Wish we had something like this in the Outer Sunset, but it definitely wouldn't have the same vibes.

Yelp
Just say No and walk by this place. It took well over an hour to receive our food. I asked three time and was told they'd check and no one ever got back to me. Once the food arrived the fríes were cold, so obviously they had been done for awhile. When I said I'll be sure to complete a review, the employee just said "whatever ". The table next to us was also waiting on food for an long time. If you like good food and good service, skip this place.
google avatar

Jason D.

Yelp
Disclaimer; I would've given 4 stars, if it wasn't for the following: We came during a Sunday (happy hour all day) and ordering three things specifically because they were on happy hour - Fried Brussels Sprouts, Moscow Mule, and the Pint House Margarita. We were charged full price for all three. Not a huge deal, I asked the bartender about it and he gave me $5 cash back. Cool. We also ordered some food - Chez Manny burger and the Southern Fried Chicken. When the burger came out, it didn't have anything on it that the Chex Manny described. No goat cheese, arugula, or pickled onion. That's what my lady ordered, so that's what she should get, right? I went back to the kitchen with her plate, told them about it and they took the plate to fix it, no words exchanged. I waited about 10 min outside the kitchen to get the "fixed" burger, when my lady texts me to say they brought her fixed burger 5 mins ago. Glad we got it corrected, but it was not fun to waste our time on simple stuff without a word being said. I'll come back again, but please, make sure the staff know what is what. Cheers.

Yelp
I absolutely love this place; it's eclectic, offers a wide variety of...everything, and has sassy waitresses that aren't afraid to chat and exchange witty remarks! We started out with bottomless mimosas and bottomless bloody marys (yes yes yes bottomless is the way to go!!!!) then we transitioned to more drinks. Here's a list of what we got: Mimosa: Yum; better than your average Cook's and cheap OJ kinda deal. Definitely a winner. Bloody Mary: Light on the alcohol, but I prefer it that way if I'm going to be inhaling bottomless ones...great flavor and adds a good amount of spicy kick to your taste buds! Scorpion bowl: The complete opposite of my bloody mary. This is meant to kick you in the face and get you hammered FAST!! Definitely got a good amount of alcohol here--not that any of us were complaining. I think this bowl is meant for 4, but 2 can have a great time with one of these ;) Hangover meal: Their homemade biscuits are delicious, and even more so with sausage and bacon! I don't really think it needed the mayo, but everything else was on point! The fruit was also very fresh and the potatoes (with the exception of a couple burnt/toasty ones) had amazing flavor! Carne asada scramble with guac: I actually don't think this dish needed the guac (extra charge), even though it was very tasty guac indeed. I really enjoyed the large amounts of carne asada, and it went very well with the cheese and eggs. Maybe I'll go all out and add a biscuit to this next time. Fries: Great for the drunchies. These fries are very salty, and some were slightly limp (I actually don't like super crunchy fries though), so it was exactly the way I liked it. They also give you a giant basket of these, so make sure you share! Overall, YES, I'd love to come here again! I waddled out stuffed to the brim with delicious food and alcohol, and there are so many more things I want to try on the menu (and at the bar!) Definitely give this place a try!

Yelp
Nitty Gritty burger joint in soma with great American food and cheap beer. Great spot for happy hour, work lunch or if you want to get a solid dive bar experience.

Yelp
Best burgers and totally awesome DJ's playing 45's and records playing a super fun and random mix of funk, soul and indie rock. They said they play on first and third Saturday nights. I guess that makes it alright, baby what have you got to lose?

Eric H.

Yelp
Y'all will NOT believe what happened. Ive probably been here like ten times at this point and on sunday at 7pm, I walked in and the bartender immediately told me no as soon as i walked in. I thought it was really weird and just left. I was not being belligerent or combative. How about offering me a water and not serving me a drink if you thought I was too drunk? Im not exaggerating when I say he literally followed us blocks away to confront us because my friend flicked him him off for being a racist (Im asian). GUYS. The bartender literally left his job to confront us on the street. Im speechless and actually embarrassed for him. I can't believe that happened. I feel like the bartender was just looking for a fight. And he tried insulting my friends sweater for some reason...? I don't think Ive ever encountered such an emotionally unstable bartender.

Bryan C.

Yelp
I've been to The Willows many times -- pretty standard bar with good food, but the bartender working at 7pm 03.20.22 changed my perception of this establishment. We walked into the bar and my friend was immediately denied service. We were not belligerent or disruptive, we literally just walked into the bar and were immediately denied service. The denial of service felt racially motivated (towards my friend) and I confronted the bartender about this. After we exchanged some colorful vocabulary, we respected his decision not to serve us and left the bar. The bartender then chased us outside to accost us on the street, clearly looking for a fight, talking about the clothes I was wearing -- being petty and immature. This person is a liability for the establishment and should have his employment evaluated for harassment. I've never seen this kind of behavior from bar staff and from the reviews, it looks like we are not the only people this bartender mistreated.

Dee G.

Yelp
You know, there are some reviews on here that try and talk down about some of the staff. I come here, from out of town, over 200 miles away from here, and this is my goto stop when I come to see my cousins and friends. I have sat here for 12+ hours, eating and drinking and never once saw any rudeness from staff that was not deserved. The cook Manny, he is worth his weight in gold!!!! The food is outstanding!!! Josh has a great attitude and tries to get along with everyone. Even those that are trying to be disruptive. I will continue to spend my visiting days here. Live the vibe. Wish the music was a tad better is my only complaint.
google avatar

Angela D.

Yelp
I got the Drunk Happy Meal and it was a delight!! Wagyu Beef Cheeseburger, fries, toy, a little lolly - and duh, a PBR + shot of either tequila or whiskey. It is totally worth it for $22.95. Service was pretty quick. It was a Saturday night and not busy at all. Lots of outdoor seating and found a parking spot easily.

Yelp
3.75 Walked in, friends were nowhere to be found. Walked toward the bar and noticed another room on my left. Oh hey. Very dive bar-esque. There were tools and ladders, and bags all over the place. While we were looking through the menu, a gentleman was hanging up a frame while two ladies watched him making sure it was properly hung. Uhh, should we be here? Surprisingly, they have 805, woot. While we waited for the pool table to open up, we decided to rummage through the old board games stored on the shelves along the walls. After dominating in scrabble, woot, the pool table finally opened up. After dominating in pool, woot, we decided to play one more game before heading out. What is one thing a person can do to prevent pregnancy? Stick it in the butt! WOW. You win bro, game over. Kudos for providing fun games.

Yelp
Lukas is hilarious. Food is excellent. I hate mustard so I replace it with their homemade jalapeño ranch. Don't come here if you are on a diet. The beer and drinks are also very yummy

Yelp
Jamie W. and I are not barhoppers by any stretch, but we happen to be in the area after a memorial service we attended at Slim's for a beloved neighborhood activist. We were feeling peckish, and I had heard good things about the Willows, a space I had not been to since the old Hamburger Mary's days. When we entered, it was fairly quiet at around 7PM, surprising since SoMa is known for its crowded watering holes no matter what the hour. We initially parked ourselves at the side bar in the middle room where the pool tables are and started perusing the menu. They offered quite a robust selection of goodies. There were temptations bordering on absurd like Pork Belly Donuts and Fried Chicken Sliders, and believe you me, they were under serious consideration. However, common sense washed over us like the loose urinary tract of a moose, and consequently we went with salads albeit big ones. Jamie ordered the $12.75 Cobb Salad, which brought together green leaf lettuce, chopped bacon, fried chicken slabs, blue cheese crumbles, tomatoes and cucumbers into a symphony of healthy tastiness as it was tossed in a tarragon vinaigrette dressing (photo: http://bit.ly/1PcV5Il). It was quite a hefty bowl to come out of a bar kitchen. I was in the mood for kale and went with the $11.75 Kale Greek Salad which came with tomatoes, red onion, pepperoncinis, cucumbers, olives and crumbled feta cheese, all of that tossed liberally in extra virgin olive oil and lemon juice (photo: http://bit.ly/20aSdNQ). It was really well executed, and while we ate our salads at a communal table already inhabited by a trio of laptoppers who never looked up, the vibe was low-key enough for us to eat in relative peace. We weren't completely healthy, by the way, as we shared the $5.75 Basket of Onion Strings with Chipotle Aioli, addictive crispy greasiness that reminded us that we were indeed in a bar (photo: http://bit.ly/1OCtYB4). FOOD - 4 stars...surprisingly good and hearty salads for pure bar bites AMBIANCE - 3 stars...spacious, low-key bar could provide a leisurely afternoon hangout SERVICE - 3 stars...the food certainly came fast enough TOTAL - 4 stars...overlook the hipsters and come for a bite

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday and it was awesome. Not too crowded, but not dead either. I was hoping the basketball game would be on but they didn't seem to have any TVs but it was all good. I was really intrigued by the pork belly donuts but decided to skip them and try them on a future visit. The bottomless mimosas are only $12.50 (with food purchase) and they are seriously bottomless- my glass was always refilled quickly without asking. Got the biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon and it was awesome. Huge home made biscuits plus creamy sausage gravy. The potatoes on the side were nicely seasoned and crispy- it is sad how many places mess up breakfast potatoes and make them either bland or soggy, but these were great. The bacon was alright- nothing too noteworthy but its bacon so nothing to complain about either. My small complaints would be that after a while, the food did get on the salty side and the sausage gravy had a little too much pepper for my taste. But overall, an awesome spot. Their menu during the week looks equally interesting and they have a nice cocktails list plus daily specials AND 15 beers on tap! There's even a separate craft beer bar (that was closed on Sunday I think). I am sure I will be back for brunch, and maybe during the week as well. Overall a good spot with solid drinks and a great menu.

Yelp
The Willows now has the distinction of having San Francisco's meanest bar tender. I went to order some lunch with my two daughters, after having walked for some time trying to find a place to eat in the area. This was on Saturday 10/9/21 at about 4 pm. After checking if this was the correct place to make an order, I asked the black haired lady who was behind the bar if she had a slushy or any other drink for children, I received a curt answer of "no". OK, we were hungry so took a look at the menu for food. My younger daughter, 8 years old, was to short to see the menu on the bar top (and also tired from walking), so climbed to sit on the stool to see better. For a short while, we were happy having found a place open with food. Then, before we could finish looking and order, this black haired lady scolded my daughter, she had to "get off the stool". It did not matter that my daughter was just a customer who wanted to order food (after being told this was the place to order), she had to get back right away. Now, some here in S.F. may think it's cool to treat children this way, and believe in the excuse that there is some law that you can't order food at the order area sitting on a stool (there is not) -- however I think this smacks of something else. Yet another establishment and lady who thinks they can get away treating the most vulnerable class of San Franciscan's anyway they like. Maybe you can not treat the pantless men this way in S.F. (who happened to be right around the corner this day) --but kids? In S.F., they are free game, so many adults see them as just getting in the way -- but for me, this gives The Willow's the distinction of having "Meanest Bartender in San Francisco", for treating little girls like nothings, throwing them out hungry just for wanting to sit a moment to make an order. Most reading this will think it's nothing, I beg to differ. Time to start standing up for our little ones who have had their lives interrupted by so many COVID measures and other mandates that put children at the back, our smallest citizens who are frequently abused, and rarely listened to. Please say no to The Willows treatment of children, and if anybody who cares a little about the dignity of children and knows this Black Haired Bartender, please tell her you read this yelp review, and that you agree, she is "Meanest Bartender in San Francisco" to effectively throw a little girl out for just trying to make an order. And I wonder, does this mean bartender remember when she was little, can she be so blind to the "meanie" that she has now become??

Yelp
Went to the Willows for brunch with friends. I really liked how sassy the menu was for some of the items! I ordered the carne asada scramble and we ordered a pitcher of mimosas. The food was pretty good and I liked the mini tortillas and the mimosas are always great. Would definitely come again if I'm in the neighborhood!

Yelp
Quiz night Wednesdays: this pub has regular weekday events such as pub quiz Wednesday's as well as live DJ thursdays. First time here with a friend, it's a very casual almost dive-y bar for reasonably priced after work drinks: lots of craft beers and even whiskeys, but I don't see any wines which is my normal booze of choice. My long time customer friend mentioned that the bartender is one of the least friendliest he has encountered in town. But he still comes back so I guess service is not bad enough to deter him. Pub quizzes can get a bit noisy. The quiz master Steve tends to drag the night on especially after first two rounds, more drinks to be had... We ordered a patty melt, which was not bad although a bit greasy. Food here seems to be pretty average pub grub. 2 Stars as I didn't find the place very comfortable with bad service and a rather rowdy crowd, but if you're looking for a casual dive bar and don't mind the noise, it could be more enjoyable...perhaps I just didn't drink enough!

Yelp
Pork belly donuts?!!! I was intrigued. These donuts are really battered chunks of fatty pork belly, in theory delicious but actually lacking in seasoning. The chili cheese fries were pretty good but again nothing special. They have a happy hour which ends at 7pm (not bad!) but even without the discount the prices are very reasonable. Note they have 2 sections of the restaurant, one serves beer wine and food and the other side serves cocktails. Order on the right side, get a number and find a table. Enjoy!
