We just moved to the Napa ish area and we have tried, ahem, quite a few wineries in our first year here and this is the place the husband and I always recommend. The wine thief is always a great time and they have the best collection of wine. Definitely check it out! 🍷

Google
The Wine Thief made our trip to Napa! Thank you so much gentlemen. Not only were they able to zero in on our taste pretty quickly, but their wit and irreverent humor made the tasting even better. Long story short, Mo heard my husband talking about Wisconsin and pulled me aside to recommend a specific vineyard which made a great trip into a phenomenal trip. We will be back to Napa and we will DEFINITELY be stopping by at the Wine Thief when we go.

Google
My wife and I were in town with our friends and were looking for a place to wine taste in downtown Napa. I emailed the awone Thief and Matt responded very quickly with a phone call. He set up a tasting for us based on our tastes. The Wine Thief has a huge selection of small producers and they are all fantastic! If you are looking for a wine bar that has it all, look no further. Speak to Matt or the owner Andrew.

Google
The best wine tasting experience in Napa valley. MO and DAVE are an amazing team that help get you in the spirit of wine tasting. Very fun and great selection of wines. You don’t want to miss this spot if you’re visiting Napa. Will definitely be stopping by here again.

Google
You have to stop here! Andy makes sure you laugh and enjoy everything you taste. Everytime in Napa, we come see Andy. He has never let us down. The wines he has is pick for his tasting room are unique but what you are looking for. Tell him what you like or do a tasting and you will never be disappointed! Must visit!

Google
What an amazing experience! I’ll never forget what I learned from Andy’s stories and his explanations of wine pairings. Thank you for making a special occasion even more memorable!

Google
Andy was not only a great curator for our tasting, but also an amazing winemaker. His Syrah was a perfect addition for dinner. We have a great time learning about him and trying some delicious wine! Perfect end to our weekend Napa trip.

Yelp
Such a lovely place with a nice atmosphere, definitely welcoming! The wine tastings went great!

Yelp
Our first time in here and it was fantastic! We loved the vibe and the wines were excellent. We will absolutely go visit again. Andy took exceptional care of us! See you soon!

Yelp
We had already been doing wine tasting nearby and decided to check this place out. They serve 5 different wines for tasting. You can just tell them your preference and they can choose for you. Matt did a great job finding wines we enjoyed, and he was very knowledgeable and professional. My favorite wine was the Cobden Wini Old Federal Vineyard Cab. Matt informed us that it was the winemaker's dad pictured on the bottle, doing some kind of math?!? My favorite part of the experience was the "welcome dogs"... yes two adorable dogs that showed us lots of love while we were there, starting from when we entered the venue. This place is spacious and gives off a fancier, more formal feel than the tasting room at Feast It Foward next door. But both experences were great in their own ways.

Yelp
RUDE, poor experience, not a good selection. So many other options in the area spare yourself

Yelp
Our annual stop to see Andy and taste his ever-phenomenal collection. We love, love, love his collection of offerings. We don't "need" anything in our cellar, but HAVE to take home his vino. A stunning Pinot, barrel aged Malbec, Cabernet Franc and we ARE rich, deep Cab fans. Gotta go- enjoying the experience.
google avatar

Yelp
This has to be my favorite wine tasting room! Andy is so funny and friendly! The wines he recommended were amazing!

Yelp
Had a great time talking to the owner, AJ and learning about the boutique wineries he represents. Also so nice to be able to taste delicious wines while walking about downtown Napa! Loved the location right next to Oxbow Public market and The Model Bakery! We joined the club so we could gain access to their wines. Well done!

Yelp
We did a tasting at The Wine Thief on the 4th of July, which was also my husband's birthday. It was surprisingly empty, so we enjoyed an intimate tasting with Andrew. We expressed our like for deep-red wines, and he formed a customized tasting for us. All of the boutique wines we tried were the best of the best among Napa valley. Throughout our tasting, Andrew had us "guess" which wine was from his winery. It turns out his pinot was our favorite! He did give us an extra pour due to my husband's birthday. We also taught my hubby to throw wine corks. It's the new classy version of beer pong. This definitely made our experience. We will certainly be back when in Napa again.

Yelp
The sign brought us in !! The wine and Karyn kept us here for an hour +++ we loved their wines the AJ Pearce was the best and the Stage Coach Temp if you like Reds These are the ones! Lastly, we got to meet Andy the owner was fantastic ... to hear us story was just heartfelt!! Thanks for a great wine tasting experience.

Yelp
The Wine Thief will steal your heart as you consume some of the best wines in Napa Valley. Andrew was an amazing host with immense expertise about wines, Napa Valley, and not only his own line but the other wines they serve as well. My husband and I found this little gem walking around Napa and stopped in because of the name. As soon as we entered, we got a friendly greeting, and the tasting began. We tried so many wines, including the "Stagecoach," which had a prominent spice to it, the "Toro Block," a unique red with a lovely finish, a 2019 "Spring Mountain" with a touch of spice, a 2019 "Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon" with a super smooth finish (one of my favorites), a "Sugarloaf Mountain" cabernet from 2018, and last but not least, a 2019 "Extended Barrel Aged Malbec" that stole my heart. No matter your taste in wine, there is something here for everyone, and we loved the intimate setting. The wines were truly top-notch, and I would (and plan to) order some for the holiday season. Despite the many choices, it is easy to choose once you try a few, and Andrew was more than generous to let us try his wines. The only other thing I can say other than what I've already said is that this is a must-visit location when you're visiting Napa Valley, and finally, although their slogan, "Drink it like you stole it," is very catchy, these wines make you want to sip slowly because the quality is beyond what you may find at even the most highly rated places in the area. Once again, thank you, Andrew, we will be back! Lillian Mareddy.

Yelp
Had a wonderful visit to Thief... They were very welcoming. We got to meet the owner and wine maker and had a lovely time! So appreciate the attention and the wonderful venue right near downtown.

Yelp
Matt and AJ ( the owner) have been nothing but amazing. Beyond welcoming the moment we walked in. And the private tasting was perfect. Amazing customer service and great wine.

Emy S.

Yelp
You need to come here to try Napa Valleys personal best. Skip the big names. Intimate tasting with the owner himself (Andy) representing Napa Valley best winemakers at it's best for the those with distinct taste wanting your unique palate satisfied come here this weekend.

Yelp
Shout out to Sven for providing such an incredible experience! As inexperienced wine lovers, we came in totally lost but wanting to experience a fun tasting experience. Ultimately we did three tastings at different locations and this one blew them all away! Sven was super patient and showed genuine interest in us as people, clearly even enjoying and being able to intelligently answer our crazy slew of newbie questions. Not only that, he even had us tasting $100+ bottles of wine!! Even more, we had the opportunity to personally speak with one of the vineyard owners about his wine and his story. I wish we had saved all our time and money from the other tastings we visited and just did multiple at the Wine Thief. These guys truly know their stuff, love their jobs, have ZERO pushyness, and are simply great people providing GREAT wines! (Be sure to grab a bottle of the Solamente!)
google avatar

Yelp
Having been to quite a few tasting rooms I'll say the wine thief is very impressive. The wines they have are high end and from small producers like other tasting room but they seem to pick the best wineries. We actually enjoyed the wine thief more that most of the winery tours. Next time I'm Napa will do one winery tour and few other tasting rooms downtown including the wine thief. The guy who did our tasting, Matt, was extremely knowledgeable and made the experience superb. Make sure to request Matt for your tasting.

Yelp
Karen demonstrated exceptional kindness and imparted her extensive knowledge on oenology, enlightening us with her expertise in the realm of wines.

Yelp
A great experience with owner Andy in his cornerstone tasting room. We learned so much while experiencing flights of fine wines. I loved the Book Thief by Muzak and tried the Wine Thief due to its title. Great experience, I highly recommend it!

Yelp
we felt like we got a big dose of owner's small man syndrome. unfortunate but sort of amusing i suppose. YMMV!

Yelp
Seriously wish that I had come here my first time to Napa, and my first day this time. Moe was SO knowledgeable and personable. He has a wonderfully dry sense of humor and a huge personality. His whole goal is to find you wines that suit you best and wants to help you discover what suits your palate, whether you're a newbie or a pro he will be able to help you. I will never take another Napa trip without stopping here and doing a VERY REASONABLE tasting and chatting with Moe.

Yelp
Fun spot! We had a nice time trying some great wines from all around the Napa Valley. Located across from the Oxbow Public Market, east of downtown Napa. This place is cool because you can try many different labels. There are several vintners represented here and they are all small (under 500 case to 3,000 case) range. Mostly wines you have never heard of, but fun to experiment with new stuff! They seem to focus more on reds but do have whites to taste as well. The wines are available to purchase and price points vary. I liked the chill vibes here. A few cozy sofas as well as several stand around tables and even a community table. Makes for meeting new people and small talk easy. We will return next time we are in the area!
google avatar

Yelp
Our weekend getaway ended on a sour note. After an enjoyable time in the tasting room, we purchased 4 bottles of wine. We were told the wine wasn't on location and it would be shipped to us. We were told we would have it within a week. The week came and went with no wine being delivered . After numerous phone calls over the next month, we never received the wine even though on two occasions we were told "it will be shipped today". I eventually contacted my bank and filed a dispute in order to get my money back for the wine that was never received. Very surprised and disappointed the way this was handled on their end. Needless to say I will not be back!
google avatar

Yelp
The Wine Thief reminds me of the old Napa where you could go somewhere with a group and actually relax over a glass or bottle of wine and a fun time. No frenzied, overpriced tastings here! They have a versatile selection of wines and always relaxed, friendly service. When you finally find parking or manage to leave the overcrowded Oxbow market, make your way here to restore your sanity over wine and a chilled out vibe. Such a gem!

Yelp
Most excellent experience! Mo was the most real, funny, and extremely entertaining wine tasting host! He went over all of our options with us and really listened to what we liked and disliked in order to find us the best wines to try. He was very knowledgeable about each of the wines that he chose for us to sample. He was able to hone in on our tastes and preferences to help us choose the best wine bottles to take home. We ended up finding a couple of real amazing new wines that are not available in some of the larger stores because they were not mass produced. Very top notch quality wine with excellent ratings! When visiting Napa, you cannot pass up The Wine Thief! Thank you so much Mo for the wonderful experience and memories. We will definitely be back for truly some of the best wines in the area!
google avatar

Dayna G.

Yelp
I can honestly say I loved the AJ Pearce #sauvignonblanc utterly delicious!!!!! I'm so glad I purchased that bottle & thank you kindly for the discount If I'm ever back in Sonoma, I'll be back for another tasting. Thanks for a great wine experience.
google avatar

Jennifer M.

Yelp
AJ the owner is a real cool Bostonian cat! Great wine tasting of unique wines only available there. Beautiful taste room. 2big rooms for a nice group to have a private tasting . Don't miss it. Finish with Oxbow next door for lunch. Enjoy!

Kimberly P.

Yelp
Dave was an incredible host. He explains the wine, history of it and then pours the samples. Most of the wines here are small batch (from what he mentioned). Really delicious wine. Stop in for a glass or a wine tasting (VERY reasonably priced). You'll be pleased!
google avatar

Yelp
Who could have predicted that the best tasting room in Napa was the one within a short walk from our hotel? You must absolutely go to this place if you're in town! If you skip it, you will lose out on a phenomenal experience! Not only is the wine great, but the guys here are entertaining as hell! Andy and Mo know their product and provide useful info along with a vegas style comedy approach that is pure entertainment! I don't give 5 stars on a first visit (my rating system gives 5 stars for consistent excellency) but am making the exception for Wine Thief because I know others who go here regularly and their experience is the same as mine was. This is really a 6 star place! I have a few tips to make your experience as good as it can be. 1) stop at the bakery across the street and grab some bread and a little oil for the tasting. Share it with Andy/Mo. 2) plan to take your time. The more time you spend with them the more information they can provide about the wineries and the wine you're enjoying. They have so much knowledge about the growers, the winemakers, the wineries, the different regions etc. etc. Don't let that knowledge stay bottled up inside them! Give their brains time to breathe! 3) plan to laugh, share stories and jokes and be entertained. If you have a stick or bug in your butt, have it removed beforehand. These guys are pure fun and it would be such a waste not to be part of their show! 4) buy some of their wine and consider joining their club. Apart from all the joking around these guys are serious about the wines they pour. You'll be able to dial it in and find something at a reasonable price that you can drink every day. Ask questions and consider their advice. It's a great opportunity to learn and enjoy (usually you only get to do one of these at a time!) 5) Once you get home, drink every day. Order more wine. Plan another visit out to Napa and the Wine Thief!

Yelp
Great service very knowledgeable about not only the wine but how it was grown. Sven and Matt were super helpful making our time fun and enjoyable.
google avatar

Walt B.

Yelp
The best variety of interesting tasting wines I have ever experienced! Although it's a pay for tasting, it's not often you get to try a $125 bottle! The staff is also helpful in explaining the various wines and their origin.

Yelp
My wife & I discovered this 'hidden gem' by happenstance. Not wanting to deal with the 'post-COVID' traffic facing us on our drive South we made a u-turn back to the City of Napa. The Wine Thief was the only wine tasting room that was open for business thus limiting our options. I have to admit I was hesitant on visiting a wine tasting 'room' while in the heart of the Napa Valley littered with an abundance of actual wineries. The Wine Thief and notably our host, Matt made this experience one of, if not the best wine tastings we have been a part of. The wine we were served was simply fabulous. It was also quite affordable especially in comparison to the 'big vineyards' offerings. The 2016 Cabs we tasted and purchased were twice as good as JP's Insignia and at 1/3 of the cost. I really have to hand it to Matt, our host, very knowledgeable and gracious. We've already boasted about this place to many of our friends and plan to return on our next visit North.
google avatar

Amanda B.

Yelp
At about 2:30pm, I called The Wine Thief hoping to get a last minute tasting reservation. Sven answered the phone and told us to come on in! It was such a pleasant experience and Sven was so knowledgeable. Whenever we finished a glass, he was right there pouring the next tasting immediately! I'm so happy we found this gem of a tasting room during our trip.
google avatar

Felicia R.

Yelp
We loved The Wine Thief! We came to Napa for a quick visit and wanted to see what all the excitement about this establishment was all about. We had such a good time! Not only did we have a great conversation about wine but we were able to have a little fun too. We left laughing and having plans to come back next time we are in California. Thank you Wine Thief for the delicious wine and good times!
google avatar

Chuck H.

Yelp
My wife and I stopped in here and absolutely had a great time. The owner and the guy doing the tasting were hilarious. They are good old New England boys who love busting balls. It's a great time and they are super knowledgeable about wine. We thoroughly enjoyed the wine we had and ended up buying a few bottles. I highly recommend stopping in and enjoying in the fun.
google avatar

Rosie B.

Yelp
We enjoyed our Mother's Day weekend in Napa specially the wine tasting with Sven. The wine is delicious!!! Sven was super friendly and provided us with awesome recommendations of things to do in beautiful Napa! We will definitely be back to visit Sven.
google avatar

Nancy R.

Yelp
Andy was the most welcoming host! I am so glad my trip to Napa ended on the best tasting room ever! If you want a great find for some unique and rare wines, this place hits the mark.
google avatar

Olivia H.

Yelp
We ran across this place in downtown Napa after a day at the wineries--and what a find it was! The wines were delicious, and the service was impressive. Our initial pourer was young but extremely knowledgeable, and by the end of our wine flight, the owner of the establishment (who produces several of the wines) was serving us and striking up conversation. The one downside I could find was that seating is not available for tastings unless you are making a larger purchase. As a result, we did our tasting leaned up against tables. While this was no problem for us, it might be difficult for some patrons when doing a larger flight.
google avatar

Clayton N.

Yelp
Extremely rude worker. I hate leaving bad yelp reviews, but this one earned it. I've been to Napa several times but never have I encountered something like this. We came for bottlerock and decided to stop here before going in. We had a group of 6 of us and from the time we came in, the man working was extremely rude and uneasy. It was a beautiful warm day and he complained to us immediately for keeping the door open for too long while the whole group was entering. He had a very off-putting tone, almost as if if was a hassle for him to help us. Mind you, this was around 2pm and we were the only ones in the establishment. As we were leaving he very rudely tells us that we need to clean up after ourselves and not leave our empty wine glasses on the table.
google avatar

Monique E.

Yelp
AMAZING SERVICE! My husband and I visited The Wine Thief after grabbing a quick lunch at Gott's, and we were not disappointed. Andy and Austin (?) were great - and introduced us to a few new wines and our new favorites. Next time we are in Napa, we will definitely come back to The Wine Thief. Just an FYI, the wine tasting fee is not waived with the purchase of a bottle or two. I didn't ask (which is my fault), but I assumed the at least one of our tasting fees would be waived with the purchase of two bottles. I'm looking forward to our next visit, and am planning on joining their wine club soon!
google avatar

Yelp
First day in Napa and thought we would just stroll around the town and find some unique places to go. Quickly we discovered The wine thief. Ended up spending a large part of the day they're enjoying that only the fabulous wines but the knowledge of the wonderful staff and owner of the wine thief. If you're looking for a place to enjoy a very high-quality boutique wines that you would not be able to get anywhere else, this is the place for you. We immediately became wine club members which we rarely do since so many places seem to produce the exact same thing. However here knowing that they are pulling from so many different unique wineries to come up with the best selection two times a year it was irresistible. Andy the owner is a delight. His knowledge of wine is something that I could sit and learn from all day long. On your next visit to Napa don't miss this place!
google avatar

Yelp
My wife and I came here to kill 20 mins before walking to dinner...we stayed 5hrs. Andy, Dave, Mo were the most entertaining and accommodating guys we've ever met. Unbelievable wines & company !! Located next to Gotts and Oxbow market...stop In for a glass...stay all evening.

Krystina M.

Yelp
WONDERFUL!! I came in here on Saturday for a tasting with one of my friends. The wine options are really neat and the staff is awesome! We ended up spending close to two hours in here. I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants to try unique, small lot wines that you wont find at a winery (they are small producers, so they don't have tasting rooms) The prices of the wines and tasting options are so reasonable and there truly is something for everyone!

Gina O.

Yelp
Terrible experience! I stopped in on Sat, 9/8. There was one small group of people hanging out at a table and the one host was at the far end of the bar talking to the only other person there. The host (short, Hispanic looking guy who was very nice to my group a couple of years ago) never even said hello. There were 2 menus on the bat and I picked one up. He said they were for someone else and then grudgingly came over, handed me a menu and asked what I wanted to taste. I mentioned the 7th Letter- a great red blend that I had purchased before. He said they didn't have it. I asked if they had it to purchase even if not to taste. He said no. He asked me what I was interested in and I said maybe something similar. He said he didn't have anything like that. And stood there and just looked at me. So I left. For Heaven's sake- this is a wine tasting room representing several vintners and you don't have anything to suggest!?? I went next door to Mark Herold and had a great tasting and then I found Feast It Forward just around the corner. Great place, lots of people having a good time, super friendly staff and great wine. I bought half a case. Needless to say, I will not be going back to Wine Thief.
google avatar

Mike S.

Yelp
This tasting room is a total gem in downtown Napa. The staff and proprietors are highly knowledgeable and down to earth about the wines they represent. There was not one bad wine we tried. AJ and the staff took us through a flight of the wines and it was a highly educational, social, and fun experience. If you come to Napa and don't at least stop in for a tasting, you are missing out on great wine and a great time!
google avatar

S S.

Yelp
This is by far the most fun wine tasting experience I have had in Napa! My friend and I randomly popped in after eating lunch at the Oxbow Public Market. We got there around 1:30 and stayed until after 6. Mo was the best! He had me crying laughing and the music had my ass dancing all over the beautiful tasting room. Their wines are exceptional! I can't wait to go back for another visit! Hopefully for the jazz festival...

Marcus A.

Yelp
We went to Wine Thief after stopping by a few vineyards in Napa. And oh my gosh this place was amazing! They have some of the best wines and best service we have ever had. They only carry small batch wines, as small as three barrels! The owner of the place (also one of the winery owners) was helping us through the $30 tasting for 6 pours. There is also an option for a $20 tasting for 4 wines. We ended up spending a couple of hours here. It was a fantastic experience, and one you shouldn't miss.
google avatar

Jennifer P.

Yelp
When you are tired of driving from winery to winery, look this place up. They have about 8 wineries there. We met half of the wine makers when we were there. They hangout and talk thru their wines. Pretty cool experience without having to pay the huge fees at the wineries. The bartenders are super knowledgeable and really craft the flights to your liking. We liked that you could go in and relax, drink at your pace and just talk to locals. Will be back for sure

Yelp
Great spot to stop and have a taste. The wife and I stopped by to check it out and had a great time. Great vibe and I dig the way the taisting is set up. Looking forward to going back next trip. You gotta try the G Cellars Mountain Cab. Cheers

Lexi L.

Yelp
Awesome venue and selections of wine! The staff was incredibly helpful and friendly making the experience so welcoming and fun. We are so glad we stumbled upon this place and will definitely be back for another tasting soon!
