Nestled in bare-brick vaults, this charming wine shop and bar serves up a stellar selection of international bottles paired with tasty sharing plates.
"A year is a long time. Arguably not long enough for us to finally open a savings account, but it’s a long time nonetheless. And maybe this person you’re meeting up with has changed a lot over the past 12 months, afterall the Kimye divorce news affected us all differently. That’s why The Winemaker’s Club is the perfect choice if you’re not sure if you want to spend 30 minutes or three hours catching up with someone. A moody wine bar underneath Holborn Viaduct, you can either have a glass of chianti and be on your way, or spend several hours working through their great wine list whilst nibbling on charcuterie and their extra cheesy raclette toasties. That being said, even if your mate has turned into the kind of person that shows you pictures of their completed jigsaw puzzles, this wine bar is so nice that we have a feeling you’ll want to stick around." - heidi lauth beasley
"Underneath Holborn Viaduct is The Winemakers Club, a candlelit wine bar in a couple of 150-year-old arches that looks like the kind of place Hannibal Lector would drink a nice Chianti. Winemakers is best suited for the evening thanks to its underground setting, and the outside space is protected from any potential downpours. Tables can be reserved and there’s a pretty accessible list. So get a group together and try something new. Not least the excellent raclette toastie." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"Winemakers are delivering bottles of wine around Deptford, to order yours send them an email." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak
"The Winemakers Club—bless its soul—has seen more of our third dates than we care to admit in a public forum. For all intents and purposes, it’s an exposed brick cave with sex appeal. Candles flicker, charcuterie is seductively nibbled, and compliments are exchanged over bottles of Chianti classico. Despite being housed in a series of 150-year-old arches in Farringdon, The Winemakers Club still has that IYKYK feel and the ideal atmosphere for seduction—a bit French and very flirty. "Looking for something less lairy and more low-key? The Winemakers Club is almost definitely the answer. It’s a candlelit wine bar based in some 150-year-old arches in Farringdon, and the vibe is part intimate underground bar, and part horror film set involving a blood (and grape) thirsty sommelier. Tables can be booked for six or more people and there are raclette cheese toasties to soak up all that claret." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
