This place far exceeded my expectations. We sat on the patio and not only was it a gorgeous evening, our server was the sweetest and the food...phenomenal. Really. If you want an amazing meal and not to leave feeling overstuffed but perfectly satiated, order the following (to share between 2): Razor clams Pork belly clam chowder Grilled tuna Windsor fries (with the caviar bump) Mary Alisa's dank chocolate cake Vanilla panna cotta Okay maybe one dessert would have been better but we just couldn't choose. Oh and for cocktails, highly recommend: Figment of Imagination (with mezcal instead of tequila) Mezcal margarita (not on menu, just ask) Not a single thing was mediocre. If I were forced to choose between desserts, choose the chocolate cake. I'm not a big chocolate person but for whatever reason, my favorite cake is chocolate with white ice cream. It was pure heaven. Amazing. Again, this meal far exceeded my expectations. And they weren't low! Also, our server, Izzy, was just the sweetest. Loved her! Oh yeah, we did actually have a frozen cocktail and a dozen oysters at the raw oyster bar across the street as well.

I've been for dinner a few times and always enjoyed it, but thought brunch was actually better. Perfectly crispy bacon, excellent blueberry bread pudding, the banana pancakes were delicious, and everything felt and tasted fresh (especially the horseradish for the oysters).

Google
Had an outstanding meal here back in November - our family live locally and insisted we visit, and I’m so glad they did! Everything from the oyster menu was super fresh and a great way to appreciate the variations between different varieties. Service was friendly, cocktails were delicious, and the Windsor Fries (cooked in tallow and served with a delicious garlic mayo) are genuinely the best fries I have ever eaten. Can’t wait to go back!

Google
Amazing late 1800's building. Decor was rustic and the food and cocktails were very good. We had brunch and their oysters were fantastic and shucked to perfection. Sercice was great and the bar was great. A must visit, and be sure to visit Island Creek raw bar as well right near by. You will not be disappointed.

Winsor House has been through many hands over my time in Duxbury. This place’s food used to be a lot better when Island Creek first bought it. Dont get me wrong, raw bar is excellent. I don’t drink but the mock-tails are on point. I had the spicy pineapple marg and it was quite good. However the food is sub par. My mom had the striped bass and it was a piece of fish with some greens thrown on top and one grape cut in half placed on the plate. Definitely lacking. I started with the smoked pork belly clam chowder and it had mussels in it, in the shells… I had to pick thru the chowder and find the clams and the shells were in it. I had to pick the mussels out of the shells and they were covered in chowder so my fingers got all gross. Bad look. Just shell them and throw them in, I don’t want to have to shell clams in a chowder My cioppino was ok. I’m fine with picking shells in that because they weren’t covered in soup. The crusty bread and sauce was decent but the rest of the dish left something to be desired. The shrimp were overcooked and for showcasing lobster and coating nearly $50 a small claw and less than half a tail isn’t much for what you get. They try to make up for it with shrimp but they weren’t good. The waiter was nice and it was a bday celebration so even though we said we couldn’t eat dessert they still came out with a piece of cake and candle for us and comped that which was nice

This is such a wonderful restaurant! Great location, restaurant set in a beautiful old home, great service and amazing food! Brunch is always incredible as is dinner. If you don’t want an interesting menu or to pay the service charge for the many hard-working employees, don’t go here. If you want uniquely created cocktails and food in a cool setting, this is your place. We love it here!

Went with a friend for dinner on a Friday evening. She ordered the tuna and I the halibut. Hers was very good, mine superb. Both were perfectly cooked with creative flavors and a lovely presentation. So the kitchen is quite good. The biggest negative was the intolerable noise level in the full dining room - terrible ambiance. We had to shout to hear each other. _Really_ bad and pretty much ruined the evening. They need a dramatic improvement in sound absorbing materials in the dining room. Service was very friendly, but quite slow. Would not return unless I knew it was a non-busy time.

Google
Good food and drinks but way overpriced for what you get ($15 for a small piece of charred cauliflower, $38 for a tiny piece of sea bass, the list goes on) and then to surreptitiously add 8% to your bill total for “back of house” is ridiculous.

Yelp
It was my first time in a few weeks ago on a Saturday and it was really fun. From start to finish, my family and I had a blast. Lots of laughs and just a really good vibe. My brother made the reservation and told them it was my 'birthday'. It wasn't technically, but we hadn't celebrated it earlier in the year so I guess it was fine....but the server (who was professional, hilarious and absolutely adorable) wrote happy birthday on all of the menus and was quite funny about the occasion. We ordered a few courses and had a few rounds. The food was delicious and the drinks hit the spot. I hope we didn't take the table up for too long, but we were having a great time. Looking forward to return again sometime!

Yelp
Came for the weekend brunch and was impressed with the food but found the service to be mediocre,we had two servers One was very friendly and welcoming but the other server wasn't all that interested,it was nearing the end of the brunch shift so maybe that had something to do with it. Owned by the folks at island creek oysters it's located right across the street in a storied old inn that was warm and inviting. Of course we started with a selection of local oysters,perfect... onto the smash burger on a English muffin with cheese and a "big Mac"style sauce it was the perfect brunch bite with fries and garlic mayo. Also had the New England breakfast of two eggs, crunchy delicious potato rosti and bacon with grilled sourdough bread. Price point was decent. Will be back to try dinner in the warmer months.

Chris C.

Yelp
I don't know why this place doesn't have a higher rating. Everything I had was very well done. The poached halibut was delicious. Very complex flavors. Well balanced and pleasant to the eye. I had it with an organic Chardonnay that was light and a perfect match. All in all a great dining experience. Of course, the oysters were our starters - Mimi's from Maine yum - but I will go back for the halibut! Jack was a solid server too!

Yelp
I enjoyed trying out this restaurant with friends! Absolutely beautiful restaurant with multiple rooms. Everyone enjoyed what they picked and loved the oysters! I do with they have more normal breakfast options on top of what they currently have. The coffee was delicious and drank every sip of it!

Yelp
Winsor House is elite. Menu can be intimidating for some but almost everything is excellent. Will not find better oysters anywhere. Burger is terrific, high quality sourcing & A+ prep on nearly every dish. Cocktails are great too.

Yelp
A gorgeous place that offers both a historic and a contemporary setting. The food is fab - we had the oyster po-boy and the burger. Friendly servers too. Will return soon!

Yelp
An amazing historical house converted to a restaurant that has amazing oysters and delicious food options. We had the burger and 3 dozen oysters and it's work every bit of the time there. Our table was adjacent to the bar and was centered to the main dining area. The atmosphere was rustic and the sound was just right. Our server was tenacious and kept asking us to order while we were enjoying our oysters and brews.

Yelp
Oysterman Burger + a fried oyster never disappoints! All-around great vibe, bar, and cocktails.

Yelp
Overall I absolutely loved the Winsor House. The service was great, friendly and prompt. Very quaint and comfortable inside, classic New England feeling. The food was delicious but the menu was quite limited (dinner) we would love to come back for their Sunday brunch.
google avatar

Stephen S.

Yelp
Sunday brunch at the Winsor house. Sat at the bar, had great service from our bartender. The Ambiance here is fun, historical yet modern, (if that makes sense). The brunch menu is eclectic and unique. Not your traditional eggs Benedict menu. It's creative but make sure you take a look before going. Would definitely go back, but probably not for brunch.

Yelp
Where to start. When were visiting family and they took us out to dinner. We ordered oysters then tried to order a bottle of wine. They only have one bottle of Chardonnay on their wine list, at a seafood restaurant, and they were out of it. One person ordered a bowl of chowder and her entree. Waitress asked if she wanted soup before the meal and she said yes. Then the entrees, which are so OVERPRICED came out and no soup. Halfway through the meal they brought the soup out and was told to take it back and off the check. Waitress looked like a deer in headlights. Now the entrees are such small portions and so overpriced it's not funny. Only two of the four of us said theirs tasted good ( we both ordered the same thing). One said the sea bass which was flown in from California, WHY??? You can catch sea bass here in the Atlantic Ocean, tasted fishy. The grilled tuna was 1/4 inch thick and tasteless. The only thing that tasted good was the attic char. But was smaller than a snickers bar. Needless to say we did not order dessert and all left there still hungry. Not to mention they add an 8% "Heart of House administrative fee" Save your money and go somewhere else better.

Yelp
Went here for our anniversary and had some of the best service I've had at any restaurant, anywhere. They were so accommodating, quick, and welcoming. I had the chowder which was INCREDIBLE. The pork belly stayed crispy while still being submerged in soup?? Magic. I had the arctic char and I really enjoyed it, the flavors were delicious. It had an apricot and pea salad topping. My husband had the burger which he really enjoyed, but the french fries were the star of the show! Going back tonight with friends, will update with our selections!

Jonathan A.

Yelp
Where do I start! The food was out of this world! From the presentation of plates, vast selection of fresh seafood, and perfect ambiance, look no further for the perfect date night spot! We had a lovely night, starting with a platter of oysters. For dinner, a burger (with fries) and hamachi crudo. I should also mention our drinks were fantastic! Kudos to our server for the evening, Olivia M., for providing us excellent service and tasteful recommendations. The chocolate cake is a must-have!!!

Yelp
Great food - awesome brunch menu. The smash burger and tallow fries are delicious...the coffee cake was perfect...could've ordered anything on the menu and been happy. Great server, too!

Yelp
I'm uncomfortable with a mandatory 8% service fee prior to walking in through the door. So basically when dining and you're a generous tipper (I.e. 20%-30%) on entire bill (including alcohol)...the restaurant operates to price gouge their customers even further. I purchased two expensive bottles and two cocktails along with dinner and noticed a mandatory 8% (defined as tip for the back restaurant employees). Restaurants that mandate gratuity generally have 20 percent and call it the day. They don't state that it's 8% excluding the usual tip for front workers. This restaurant commands higher prices and still expects you to cover their overhead. SMH every time I think about my visit. Left such a bad impact on dining out. It far surpassed the food and service. Covering a restaurant's overhead is not the responsibility of its patrons/customers. Owners/management team should account for such costs when operating a business. I left thinking...are we (customers) paying for their oyster bar expansion and remodeling?!

Yelp
Amazing food, service and vibes here! Came for Easter dinner with the fam and enjoyed it all. Got some drinks and oysters at the bar before sitting down for dinner. Bartenders are great! Crispy Veggies and bread service was delicious! Spring toast was good (personally, not my favorite but everyone else at the table loved it). Bluefin tuna crudo was awesome. We all loved our meals (tuna, halibut, monkfish, clams). Owen was a great server!

C J P.

Yelp
Prices large, portions small, food fair...An 8% administrative charge is something I have never experienced while eating in literally a thousand plus restaurants...I gave it a 2 only because the waitress was polite and did her job well...This restaurant came with the highest of recommendations but turned out to be a bust more or less...Nice setting though...Alas a 1 and done...

Evan D.

Yelp
In 2 words: Dog Food. Salad had sand on the lettuce. Entree, a steak, was awful.
google avatar

Brian M.

Yelp
I thought this was a 5 star all the way! We were seated right away. The server came up quickly, and was VERY friendly. Every single app and entree was had was amazing! Great soups, burger, fries. I really, really enjoyed the food and would go back. It is a quaint neighborhood place. Keep up the good work.
google avatar

Elizabeth J.

Yelp
It's really unfortunate that they charge an 8% fee to supplement back of house employee wages that should typically be paid by the employer, and then tax is calculated on top of that. You're essentially paying a 30-35% tip for dinner, assuming you're paying the wait staff a decent tip as well. The food, drinks and service was all great but we likely won't be back because of this price gouging situation.

The Peoples Critic C.

Yelp
Small menu small beer menu good service Food was good lots of taste but way over priced And make sure your dogs are fed before you leave for restaurant because you ain't bringing a doggy bag outa here Tiny portions

Yelp
Meh. Went for the first time today and it wasn't the experience we were hoping for. This is a pretty unique establishment with several different open areas for seating but even with a slow lunch crowd we got seated right by the hostess stand is so there was the constant ebb and flow of people coming and going as we were trying to enjoy our meal. It took us 15 minutes to get our drinks. Over 30 minutes to get our food and never were checked on until 2/3 of us were done eating and the 3rd was waiting for someone to come by to ask for ketchup which didn't happen until their food was cold. Seemed like they couldn't care less about whether we actually enjoyed our meal. Food was not better than fast food, service was painfully slow (our server took our order and then was nowhere to be found) and while this establishment has the potential to offer a nice ambiance, that's not what we got. Might give it one more shot but would sit at the bar or specifically request a better table. Won't be in a hurry to return, though. Nothing like it taking over an hour to eat lunch, never being checked on, offered a refill or having a single empty glass or dish moved out of the way.

Yelp
Great spot for oysters and drinks. Friendly staff. Good selection of unique wines and crudo.

Yelp
11/12/22 My first visit to Winsor, and 4 of us were very underwhelmed! Our waitress was pleasant, but oversold every item on the menu. I am wondering why a 'seafood' restaurant would be flying in fish from Iceland, rather than use as much local seafood ingredients as possible. Not one entrée between the 4 of us was an actual entrée size. I had the Artic Char, about 3 oz. with a small handful of frisée - that's it for $32. The poached tuna was much the same, very small portion with a spoonful of salsa - that's it for $34!! The driveway clams (should stay in the driveway) consisted of 10 clams, watery broth and 1/4 cup of beans with a piece of toast. I think because we were all still hungry we caved and ordered one slice of the DANK chocolate cake to taste, and it was dry and not chocolatey at all. The super kicker was an 8% Admin Fee was added ($26 in our case), in addition to leaving a tip. Come ON people!! Is this now the new norm?? Underwhelmed and Overcharged for sure. Not one of us will never return.

Bill J.

Yelp
We had a wonderful evening sitting by the fireplace enjoying oysters with caviar and a glass of white wine.

Lori J.

Yelp
Last evening my husband & I enjoyed a wonderful dinner at the Winsor House. The oysters were fresh, briney and a perfect size. I really enjoyed the watermelon & tomato salad. The salad was delicious. Our server Owen recommended the perfect wine to accompany my meal. He was spot on. The Camp Chardonnay was crisp & light, and went well with the oysters. My husband enjoyed his " not my burger, not my problem" dinner as always. Dessert was yummy. It's a tough choice between sitting outside under the arbor with the twinkling lights or inside this beautifully refurbished house. We chose inside because of yesterday's high humidity. The air conditioning was not too cold & not to warm; it was just right. We had a very enjoyable evenin.

Yelp
On a recent snowy night, of which we've had many, we went to the Winsor House in Duxbury for the first time since they came under new ownership. I had been wanting to try it since they opened under Island Creek Oysters so I made a reservation a week in advance. On the snowy night we went, there was hardly a car on the road because of the weather. But when we arrived, the parking lot and the restaurant were jam packed. So I do suggest getting a reservation. Since we arrived 20 minutes early for our 7 PM reservation, we thought we would go to the bar. But I could see that their new, large rectangular bar was full. However, when I checked in at the desk, they said our table was ready. My final thoughts on the place are that the staff is helpful and very nice, the food is very good, but everything else is kind of weird. The prices ranged from very low (burger is 8.99) to ridiculously high (a 7 course tasting menu is $90 per person). Other strange things about The Winsor House: the first 2 courses of the tasting menu are 1) raw oysters and 2) crudo - a choice between 2 raw fishes. While I would enjoy that, I know some people don't want either. The names for many of the items on the menu are confusing: the title for the burger is NOT MY BURGER, NOT MY PROBLEM, the title for fried oyster sliders: UGLY SLIDERS, the title for the only steak on the menu: HERE'S YOUR STEAK with no mention of what kind of steak it is. At the end of the $90 Tasting Menu there is this statement: $45/Get Weird Pairings. I presume that refers to alcoholic pairings for each course, and the word "Weird" is an acknowledgement of the weirdness of their approach. As far as the food goes, the salmon meal was delicious. It was served with a tasty sauce and accompanied by good fruits and vegetables. My husband had the steak and he loved it - a perfectly cooked bavette steak with another great sauce and good accompaniments. The Winsor fries are on the Small Plates menu for $5 and they were some of the best French fries I've ever had. A side called Everybody's Crispy Broccoli had good flavors (honey, yogurt, and mint) but the broccoli was so undercooked it was almost impossible to eat. Also, I got 2 raw oysters, and they did not come with mignonette. We decided that we would go back and try a few other things sometime. I expect some of these things will change eventually.

Yelp
So much to say. Food: Awesome. Mostly seafood. One main tofu and one main chicken dish. super healthy. No filler carbs, starches, etc. Broccoli app was to die for. Sounds weird, right? It's legit. And who doesn't like a fried oyster on a kings Hawaiian role? Nobody. Main striped bass and main halibut were wonderful. But the portions were very small for the price. And there were exactly two halves of a pistachio on my halibut that described as having pistachios...skimpy is a good word here. Cocktails good but could be a bit boozier. And only three whites by the glass to choose from. Add the Gruner to the glass list please. Ambience: it's historic and cozy. Always has been. New renovation is nice. Some schizophrenic design choices in tile, for instance. The wall color combination in the front room with the new bar is wrong. Cream trim with a strangely grey wall. The colorful tiki bar baskets/lights with color cords over the bar. Odd. The design flow is off. But, the new bar in the front is great. As it always lacked bar space. Service: fantastic. Knowledgeable. Timely. Nothing but good things to say here. Cost: Expensive. Most won't care because they are wealthy Duxbury people. But not for the average Joe and jane. Especially with the tricky way they not only add a service charge for the back of the house but they do it above the line so you are taxed and expected to calculate tip with it included. With a small fish entree already costing $34...just add a dollar to the menu costs and pay your back of the house staff a living wage.

Kara C.

Yelp
Really great spot. Definitely not a cheap meal. Have been recently for both Dinner and Brunch and I prefer their brunch menu. The pancakes are amazing. Good service and great vibes. Can usually grab a table walk in

Yelp
Completely overpriced and the wait staff look like patrons, That admin fee is completely ridiculous. They can afford to pay their own staff! I will never go back.
google avatar

Shawn M.

Yelp
Overpricing at its finest! The ribeye which I only got because I thought I read the price at $35.00 (which is my fault) was actually $85.00 when I realized it at the end. Zero salt and flavor. They did cut the ribeye up for me which I never had happen before but it was marinated in some sort of bland creamy chive sauce . Not great ! (For $85)I also think you should not have teenagers with dirty sneakers, shorts, and nose rings working there if they are going to be serving you $85.00 ribeyes.. . Del Friscos in Boston has ribeyes for $65.00 BTW... The hostess was nice and very attentive no complaints there . Drinks were ok . The cocktails were decent .I would of preferred my cocktail in a martini glass instead of a regular glass with tons of ice cubes. (Not to be picky but paying. $85.00 for a ribeye it's time to be picky ! )I liked the interior it had a couple different decorated rooms where they could seat you. They also charge an 8% admin fee to help cover the cost for the workers in the back who are not included in the tips. This is something new to me , apparently a few others commented on this and were not very happy with adding more money to the bill. Once again You can't have $85.00 ribeyes and then ask your Paying customers to pay more money to cover the cost of the workers that you should be paying yourself .. The Halibut was awesome I will admit.

Yelp
Ok, giving this place another try. The Winsor House was recently bought by Island Creek Oysters and it's had a nice update which has made it seem bigger while still retaining its Yankee charm. I went with my partner and another couple and we were seated in the paneled wood area not far from the entrance. The menu is all new. The food ideas described are refreshingly unusual but the menu itself relies on overly clever names for the dishes. We had a selection of oysters, which were well presented and tasty. I had some fried oyster sliders and the "not" clam chowder, both of which were top-notch. 2 of my companions got burgers which they rated as "eh" kind of greasy and gristle-y, and and another got the "Driveway Clams" (???) which he liked. The "Dank" chocolate cake was dark and moist with a great cream cheese frosting. The service was best described as earnest - the server seemed new, was unable to describe the dishes, and didn't know to clear dinner plates when dessert was brought, but she was pleasant. My one big quibble was the noisiness. Hard surfaces and loud music piped in. My Apple Watch actually alerted me that I was in an environment with dangerously loud noise levels, it registered over 90db continuously during the time I was in the restaurant. It was tough to have conversation or to communicate with the server. Since this venue is on a good sized property, I think it would be smart for them to consider some sort of outdoor dining situation.

Yelp
We had the most amazing long weekend in Duxbury and our hosts made kid-free dinner resos here for our last night. The place is adorable and the food is even better. The outside seating was hopping - we were seated inside (which is totally fine since I always seem to get eaten alive by mosquitos). My husband and I and our couple friends ate and laughed and made a bunch of memories at this dinner. It'll hold a special place in my heart. One of those nights where everything is perfect - not because it was crazy expensive, or over the top, or exclusive, but because we were around a table of food and good convos. Can't wait to make it a tradition!

Yelp
Winsor House now known as Winsor House at Island Creek Oyster Farm because Island Creek Oyster Farm took over. Food was excellent!! Absolutely delicious! Great atmosphere! Great service. The only bad thing was going on their website and trying to make reservations with Open Table. Open Table said first available table for 2 would be at 8:30 PM for tonight. Called them and the hostess fit us in for 6:00 PM and they had plenty of seating available. Other than that, 5+ stars for the service, ambience and food. Great place for date night. Ordered a dozen oysters, assorted from the area. Fresh, beautiful and cleanly shucked. No shell fragments what so ever. Then added the razor clams ceviche. Refreshing. Wife ordered the salad with salmon and I ordered the haddock. Both excellent, perfectly cooked, very tasty and delicious. For dessert, we shared the dank chocolate cake. It's the best! Highly recommend all the above. Definitely returning to this gem on the South Shore soon.

Yelp
Excellent all around. Phenomenal fare. Tartare was amazing and the clams were the best I've ever had

Lisa G.

Yelp
The restaurant has a rustic atmosphere with a decent size bar and they also have a small raw bar They have Interesting, creative cocktails and wines, not your usual choices The bartender was very helpful and knowledgeable. The oysters were tasty and very briny and the broccoli with yogurt, crispy and light. The Chowder entree was flavorful with tender clams & mussels but the portion was very, very small for an Entree and it was $24.00 which was too high. The Driveway Clams entree same thing...portion was too small for the price. Watch out for the Olive Oil cake dessert!!! It is delicious with sour cream topping BUT, we did not realize it came with Caviar, which it did not need and it was $45.00!! OMG! It's a lovely local place but the prices are over the top.

Yelp
Amazing food, service, and ambiance. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars! I wish they would also open for lunch.

Yelp
We had a girls night out this past weekend we wanted a fancy place for our celebration, we were told the Winsor House is the place to go. We walked in to a busy place with no one at the hostess station. We waited 10 minutes before anyone even agnolished us. Finally got seated to our paper placemat menu. Waiter comes over in Old jeans and a T shirt on. ALL the staff were dressed like bums! For $45 a plate can we have a server in uniform please?! I felt like I was at a 24 hour diner. The food is ridiculously over priced for what you get. Not even a roll to start. No starch or veggie just your small portion of protein with alot of filler salad on the plate. We never get dessert because we are usually full, but we ordered dessert because we were all still hungry! $13 for a piece of chocolate cake that tasted previously frozen for sure. The straw that broke the camels back, is when we received our $380 tab for the 3 of us, was a $25 surcharge for the back of the house employees. WHAT??? The food is so overpriced you're telling me you can't afford to pay your staff what they deserve? Since when is it the customers duty to pay your dishwashers and pantry help? Will definitely not recommend, nor will we ever go back.

Yelp
Duxbury is keeping this place a secret! We were intrigued but our expectations were tempered by the lack of reviews and press. The experience blew us away. First, while waiting for our table we had time for a drink in the beautiful backyard. The lights and the firepit set the stage. Once the bugs got too bad we moved inside to the bar. This is where we started to realize we were really in for a treat. The execution of cocktails is surgical. Perfectly balanced and wonderful. We tried a variety and all were excellent. Watching one of the barbacks polish wine glasses to a perfect shine told us that this place is aiming for a different level than most restaurants in this area. We observed a similar level of precision going on in the raw bar. Attention to detail is everywhere. Razor clam ceviche and Hamachi Crudo were stellar. The crunch of sea salt and delicate flavor of olive oil let the seafood shine. Driveway Clams was a standout as well. Prices are very reasonable for this level of food quality and execution. Run, don't walk.

Yelp
Delicious food, great staff, and the outdoor space was awesome! We really enjoyed getting to roast s'mores after our meal by their outdoor fire pit. Definitely a stop worth making if you are in the Duxbury area!

Yelp
Love love love the food and service! Both times we have eaten here we were FREEZING every table next to us also commented on the low low temperature in the restaurant... they have fire places but can't use them for some reason?! they need to do something and out the heat because everything else was just fabulous. I also agree with the previous comment the portions could be a tad bigger they say apps are perfect for sharing (tapas style) but the prices are far higher than tapas.

Yelp
I ate at Winsor House for the first time today and the food was excellent. However, that's not the reason for this review; a server spilled some chowder on my wife's phone and wallet, which is no big deal! Things happen at a restaurant. Regardless, the manager comped our entire bill for the evening, and the bill was not small! The service was outstanding and we are so grateful. Could not recommend more highly!

Yelp
We have driven by this place many times while visiting Duxbury, but had never actually stopped in. Looking for a place to enjoy dinner outside we decided to give it a try. We were happy (and lucky) to have landed a seat on the patio to enjoy our meal. We started with two people having Caesar salads and two enjoying oyster shooters. For entrees there was one sea bass, one fish and chips, and two mushroom pappradelle. The fish and chips were excellent. For those of you who have seen previous fish and chip reviews know, I am a bit of a fish and chips snob, and these were perfect. Lightly breaded and fried but not so that you lost the flavor of the fish to the frying oil. Reports on the mushroom pappradelle were that it was excellent and both plates were cleaned. The sea received an it was good but don't know that it would be ordered again. The service was good, though we had to ask for bread twice before it was delivered. That said, when the bread arrived it was hot from the oven. I will likely return on future visits but will probably try some other local places first.

Yelp
Stopped here per the suggestion of our Airbnb host. It's incredibly adorable. I'm from New England and can definitely say this place is SO New England charm. A historical, beautiful inn with tasty chowder??? Oh, you bet. My one qualm was the service. It was so hot and cold. I felt like we were playing hard to get. At first, I thought it was an age thing because I get it - I have a baby face. After ordering a few drinks and flashing my ID to prove that I am indeed almost 30, the service was still odd. We had to basically beg for a drink menu, and even once we ordered some wine, I could clearly see the waitstaff poking fun at my expense. Otherwise, the food was great! The atmosphere was charming - warm due to the roaring fireplace and full of happy people. The apple and burrata salad was SO GOOD. I would definitely go back and make a reservation. Perhaps they treat those who call first differently?

Yelp
Usually, I don't change a review over one bad experience. However, since my initial review, I've returned to the Winsor House many times and have had multiple bad experiences. Essentially, the same thing keeps happening over and over again- my husband and I are completely neglected by our waiter/waitress, while another table is being over-serviced by that same waiter/waitress. Last night was the straw that broke the camel's back. Our waiter completely ignored us the entire night while he socialized with the table next to us. At one point we were just sitting there waiting for him to take our order for 20 minutes while he chit chatted with the table behind us, sat down with them, and showed them pictures on his phone. He spent the entire time kissing their asses and acting like we didn't exist. When he brought my chowder it was cold, which I'm sure was because it sat waiting while he hung out with the other table. And when he brought our burgers, they were almost inedible because the buns had disintegrated into mush because they sat out for so long. This also happened with a waitress on my birthday. She was too busy ass kissing the table next to us, which resulted in our meal lasting 2.5 hours. I think the waiters/waitresses need to be trained on how to be professional and treat all customers the same. The current environment feels more like a "club" where "members" are treated one way and "non members" are treated another.

Yelp
This place has had an amazing face lift and we are happy to support ICO as they are a Duxbury company that we have watched grow. But we had a bit of an issue with their 8% admin "heart or house" fee that, after an almost $500 bill, we were expected to pay to further support their staff, placing the fee above the subtotal line. The food and service was amazing and we were willing to pay the fee because it Was clearly disclosed on the menu. However, when the manager came over to discuss, after we had paid, he was combative, shameful and unprofessional. He abruptly interrupted us, while trying to convince us that because the restaurant was getting more business and the employees were working harder that we should want to supplement their higher pay. This is not an issue we have faced at any of the other restaurants in the area. The best thing about this place was the ambiance and our server Helena, but the food was over priced and the fee was pushing it. Figuring out how to pay their employees is their responsibility and should not be expected of their guests, plus the management was incredibly insulting and disrespectful about the entire situation instead of actually managing it.

Yelp
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner at the Winsor House Inn. Made the reservations on Open Table last minute and by the looks of how full they were we lucked out getting a table. The beet salad, scallops and prime rib were all so good. Looking forward to going again soon.
