I was expecting a juicy wet Bubble Tea drink. Instead I got a fancy, elaborate, crazy thick Mango dessert. It was surprising. Can you imagine "The Shok?"
I've been to the Wok twice, but the first time it was closed for remodeling. So this is the story of my second trip. I came here *just* for the famous Bubble Tea, so this is a review of that.
You can find the Geeks in here, the Cheerleaders, and of course, "The Jok."
Decor: Their new decor is great. It's a huge place, they really expanded it. It still smells like a building site, though.
Star Wars characters eat here. Not so much Kirk but you may see "The Spok."
Menu: It's full of Viet, Korean, Chinese, Japanese and Thai dishes. All over the map. Usually that kind of menu means that everything is okay but nothing is great. I have no idea.
There's a secret way to get in. They won't open the door and let you in unless you know "The Nok."
Service: Not so great. She recommended the Mango Bubble Tea and I appreciated that. But I specifically asked for the shaken, not the smoothie type. And I definitely got the smoothie, because like others said it was more like a dessert. I still liked it though. And also she didn't seem too thrilled to have me in her place or with the fact that I dropped my change. And a chef was sitting outside the whole time, smoking. Right near the doors. Not my fave thing to see on my way in and out of a place.
Don't wear your normal dress to this place. Wear "The Frok."
Bubble Tea: Well it's complicated. The good and bad, listed below.
The good:
a) I really liked it. I'm not sure why, since there were so many issues with it.
b) It was different to any other Bubble Tea I've had.
c) The size was really large and I appreciated that, it offset the cost.
d) The bizarre chalky milky flavour with a hint of mango is strangely addictive. Maybe it's crack.
Oh wow, is that the time? I need to get on with the bad list. I just noticed "The Clok."
The bad:
a) The bubbles in it were chalky, old, inedible.
b) The whole thing had a chalky flavour and consistency and while it was addictive, you may not like it.
c) There's only a tiny hint of mango flavour so if you want it to be very mango, you'll be disappointed.
d) It's well over $3 so it's not really cheap.
And don't leave your car open in the parking lot. Make sure you use "The Lok."
So come here and try a Bubble Tea and see for yourself. They're like no other Bubble Tea you'll ever have. It's like a fancy dessert.
And if you're in the mood for some action, then just text me and ask for "The C*k."
