To the women working at the front desk: I’m not sure why it seems necessary to scold my kids before they’ve even had a chance to do anything. When we check in for the pool, they are literally just standing behind me, yet somehow it warrants being yelled at. Yes, we all understand kids aren’t allowed in the hot tubb, you’ve made that abundantly clear. It’s interesting how consistently unfriendly and unwelcoming this front desk manages to be toward families with children.

Have patronized the Woods for years. Everything up there is incredible! Food, golf, customer service is always great. Would recommend for any type of event/gathering.

I'm at a nearby cabin and went to the gym in the sports center. It's very simple, there are also many other facilities. The woman working at the front desk was very helpful and kind she even said goodbye when I left.

We stayed at a private cabin and used the gym. It could use more strength training equipment but there’s plenty of cardio equipment. 80% cardio 20% strength Beautiful view and quiet location for a romantic getaway.

The Woods is a magical place to get away! We rented a cabin and the rental came with golf passes and lake access. In addition to those treats, The Woods has an amazing spa, restaurant and sports center. We're sure there was more to enjoy and discover, but sadly our trip came to an end. But not before a wonderful moonlit walk through the forest and the most peaceful sounds and surroundings!

Love the Woods! A hidden gem for a winter girls spa weekend! Just visited for 3rd time! Perfect cottage for 8! 4 bedrooms w/private bath. Very spacious & walk to spa! Great customer service! Great time with great friends. Will be back!💕

I stayed in August 2020 in one of the Meadow houses. Their website is a bit dated and lacks good quality photos, however the place is beautiful. It's an easy drive from the DMV area. The Meadow house is a simple layout with a big porch with patio set to seat 10. This was much appreciated in the era of COVID and staying outside. It did have a small charcoal grill in the front lawn. The house had 4 rooms, 2 on each side, all identical. It was very clean and I appreciate the large bathroom with two lights and a vent. The living room furniture isn't that comfortable but doable. It has a dining room table that can comfortably seat 8 and a small kitchen bar with 2 stools. There's also a small desk in the area that we used as our drinks bar. Full size refrigerator and oven. The houses are well spaced but it is the country so sound travels. Across the way was a men's getaway for NFL fantasy football draft and we could hear their laughter and loud conversation but nothing that kept us up. The nearby pool is for HOA members only so you have to drive over a mile away to the other pool - but this pool has a great view of the mountainside! We didn't do any walking of the nearby recreation area or try to use the sports facilities. Overall, it was a great visit at a great price for us to getaway.

Yelp
Review for neighborhood only. Large development in rural WV with lots of homes/townhomes/condos/cabins and nearby nature/hiking trails. We saw lots of deer in the neighborhood and stopped a few times to let them cross the road. There's a golf course and club house with a restaurant but we didn't check those out during our visit. Only downside is many of the streets didn't have sidewalks so walking the neighborhood seems a bit iffy since you have to walk in the street. I enjoyed staying here and would stay again if I'm back in the area.

Yelp
Wonderful golf facility. I meet up with my nephew from the DC area for 18 holes and a nice lunch. It was a two hour car ride for each of us and worth the trip, especially for my nephew who birdie the 18th hole. Good day! Ed

Yelp
I utilized the hair services and had my hair colored and cut with toner treatment. The color turned out great as well as the cut.

Yelp
This is the 2nd course I have played in the area and it is top knotch. Well maintained course with a starter in place. I was able to complete 18 holes in 3:15. This says a lot about the management of this course. I would have given the 5th star if the pro shop was more established and the food/drink cart would have been around more. I wasn't able to get a drink until the 15th hole. They do have bathrooms throughout the course and the ball washers are in full operation. I will be back!

Yelp
The Woods as a place to live is fantastic and I couldn't recommend it enough!!! The Woods Grill restaurant is awful and has done nothing but decline in the past four years. The food is unimaginative, the protein portions have been cut drastically and are overcooked beyond death, the frozen, NOT fresh vegetables, are bland and soggy and the "chef" and his kitchen staff are slow. More than once our food sat under the salamander getting baked beyond recognition to the point it was inedible. The waitresses are nice and friendly but every time we've dined there, a communal plate of french fries sat next to the cash register and soda machines that they eat from with their fingers, lick their fingers and then grab your drinks or food to serve you. It's just disgusting and we've stopped going there for dinner. Lunch is a better choice. Burgers, personal pan pizzas and wings are good choices. Until the owners hire a trained chef, train their wait staff and allow the chef to run the kitchen, I'd advise staying away.

Yelp
Perfect place to live and enjoy nature. Golf, tennis, swimming, hiking and a beautiful well kept community. We chose to make this our permanent home after visiting in 2020.

Yelp
Really enjoyed playing golf at the end of October. Course was great, as you can see from the pictures. Course was doing a nice job of working through the COVID-19 issues. Attendants were all friendly. I would play here again, great views on the course. The executive course was also really nice, would recommend playing that also!

Yelp
Love this place. The Mountain View course layout is nice and the course is well kept. The mid length course (Stony Lick) is really different. It follows the streams through the valley and is very tight. I have been going there for years and am never disappointed with the course, or the staff at the club house and pro shop. This year they have new golf carts with USB plugs which is a life saver for all of use device addicted people. :)

Yelp
Rare to see many people here using the golf course or pools. Well maintained year round. Most of the cabins and townhouses are vacant. Especially in winter. Absentee owners who inherited the place when mom and dad passed away. Kids come up to play golf and burn wood in the fireplace. Maybe 25% are occupied year round by new owners as their only residence. A few kids in the neighborhood and school bus service. Really great high speed Comcast internet. ATT mobile is LTE and only game in town. Very quiet and large herds of deer occasionally saunder passed your windows.

Yelp
My wife and I liked this community so much we bought a house. The people that work in the Pro Shop, restaurant and the realty office are all terrific. Try it for a vacation, you might wind up as one of our neighbors. Scott

Yelp
I play here at least twice a week. Two 18 hole courses. Stony Lick is a great option for less experienced players and golfers looking to tighten up their iron game. It also has a set of tees and an extra large cup near the greens for "soccer golf". I gave up soccer years ago but it looks like a lot of fun and is growing in popularity. Mountain View is the longer "championship" course. It has a solid layout with a good mix of tight holes and forgiving ones, short and long. Greens have just enough undulation to reward good approach shots but keep things interesting on misses. That said, both courses are playing great this year. Hats off the maintenance crew and staff!

Yelp
This is a beautiful East Coast resort just north of the Food Lion (I love saying that). It is a small community that is huge, if you's catch my meanin'. Everyone is really friendly, and incredibly welcoming. There are many different places that these condominiums and homes are throughout the property, rolling around the hills of the golf course on property. It was really lovely this time we went... the lakes were freezing over, the deer were EVERYWHERE... it was a stunning time of year. The house my mother in law to be... (fun to say) has is stunning. She made some additions to it, and it just floats over the forest littered with Aspen trees and more..... a stunning place. Hardly a cabin, this was a beautiful home where we had a 7 person thanksgiving.... and I watch "Meet the Parents" for the first time afterward.... a real treat with a relatively new, normal family. Hooray. Whatever the case, a great escape, with a wonderful spa, and a great place to go hiking, play golf, and apparently hunt (they recommend you don't hike around those parts). haha seriously. The F&B is good, but they fired this awesome guy named Luke, and everyone is up in arms. Sounds like F&B has the normal staffing problems in any remote town. Without judgement, I enjoyed my meal in the pub... even thought they weren't sure what a gimlet was. I mean... I can't be a snob, can I? (I hope the sarcasm really shined through because otherwise I sound like a snot.) Also... want to mention... WOW-EEEE-WOW... those people are really, really nice. I didn't experience that all the places I went in the East for the last trip... but it was wonderful there.

Yelp
I always look forward to my weekend in The Woods enjoying my little slice of paradise. The Woods has two amazing 18-hole golf courses, various indoor and outdoor recreational facilities and even a "pub." But my favorite part is simply watching the breathtaking views and all of nature in wild and wonderful West Virginia. I would reccomend The Woods as a tremendous value for any vacation or second home opportunity. Many retiring folks decide to reside there perminantly. What a fabulous community!

Yelp
The woods community is a fairly nice and clean, safe place to call home. Most of the people who live here are kind and take a bit of pride in keeping the neighborhood tidy . The median age is a bit older as it was originally designed as a resort community. They have two golf courses, a multi-purpose Rec center with indoor pool, a small gym, hot tub and indoor basketball court. Other amenities include hiking trails, tennis courts, fishing, and two outdoor swimming pools. Pretty much everything and outdoors person could want. The one issue is as a homeowner, the membership dues and initiation fees can be rather expensive and are not interchangeable. You can only upgrade your package, never down grade or select your own package. You have to pay on the package that the previous homeowner had with the house. Of course you can opt out and not have a membership, but then if you decide to sell your house then unfortunately the new homeowners are unable to purchase a membership because of this. That's just not the best way to do business in my opinion but it's also not my call. I can only give my thoughts on the matter.

Yelp
A great mid-length golf course, particularly enjoyable for golfers of varying skill levels.

Yelp
Restaurant Pub: New Chef - some new items on the menu - nice improvement on freshness, tastiness. An asset to the community.

Yelp
A great laid-back resort with activities for all. Hiking, golf, swimming, a full spa, - there's even a Saturday morning yoga class! The golf courses are great...one long and one short. Green fees are very reasonable. We took a really nice long hike to a big lake. The food at the golf club was typical sandwiches and snacks. The food at the Walden Lodge was just OK and a little pricey. Better to stay at one of the rental homes and do some grilling. We shared a cabin with friends recently and did just that. The resort offers some small cabins and there are others available through private rentals (Berkeley Springs Cottage Rentals for example). Or if you don't want to cook, drive over to Berkeley Springs...lots of good choices there. And other fun stuff too like mineral waters and art. One last thing...it is a bit buggy...like all of the DC area. Bring some bug spray or get a place with a screened porch!
