"It might be set within a restored 19th-century farmhouse, but The Woodspeen has a contemporary feel courtesy of its fine terrace and an airy, Scandic-style extension with a vaulted arch ceiling. Menus centre on the seasons and bring together ingredients from the kitchen garden and the surrounding area, in dishes that utilise big, punchy flavours – such as anchovy emulsion and wild garlic salsa with roast lamb rump. Arrive early for a drink in the intimate bar; the ‘25 Yards’ gin is crafted using botanicals from their garden." - Michelin Inspector

"Mouth-watering seasonal menus bring together ingredients from the local area and the garden of this neighbourhood eatery. Flavour is paramount and dishes have a comforting, modern style. ‘Eat Out to Help Out’ continues on Sunday evenings throughout September: get £10 per person off your bill when you spend £20 or more on food (from 6pm on Sundays)." - The MICHELIN Guide UK Editorial Team

Beautiful place, enjoyed the apero out on the terrace. Delicious dishes, especially the mains and desserts were very well balanced. Pacing of the dishes a bit too quick for us, but otherwise and experience we’d definitely return to and recommend!

Honestly, a bit disappointed. We waited an hour to have our food brought out.. and it came out cold… the food was mediocre. I would expect much more from a place that has a rating of 4.8 out of 5. Not worth the money nor is it worth the time. We ordered the steak, mashed potatoes, carrots, cod fish with chips, peas and new potatoes. My daughter couldn’t stomach her plate because the fish was so fishy. In fact, I’ve never ate cod that tastes like the sea lion smell. Not eatable. The steak was mediocre at best. It came with capers.. or so they looked like it because it was really whole peppers?… not sure what it was, but it was not pleasant. Everything that is put on your plate should go along with the dish… this did not. It was like biting into something horrible. Again, I would not recommend this place. Save your money and go elsewhere. The only thing that was somewhat decent was the sour dough bread.. but it also came out cold.. I don’t know about you, but when it’s cold outside, and because of how posh this place is, you’d think they could at least bring out warm bread.

We have been here many many times and won't be retuning!! It has changed. For the worse. We went to the woodspeen last night and one of our party was sick all night from the cod. We were sat next to the kitchen and could constantly hear the head chef being extremely rude to both the kitchen and the service staff. The kitchen is open and you have guests paying over £100 a head in hearing distance. Read the room. We were being constantly walked past with a wooden trolley with food on. The food arrived at separate times, despite us being touching distance from the pass, with the meal that was late to the table not being cooked well and then making the person sick all night. We were given dessert menus, we asked for coffee and didn't get the truffles, I asked for them and was told "I was given different instructions" whatever that means! We were then suddenly told to leave the table within ten mins while drinking our coffees, what would they have done if we ordered desert? The best course was the starter, and we had cocktails in the bar before. Those were messed up as well, and arrived at different times too. The margaritas could have done with a half salt rim, and it was lacking in any sugar syrup, as it was very salty. I have more to say, however will leave it there. If the venue would like more information please contact me.

Birthday dinner, spectacular presentation and quality of selected dishes. Staff were very personable and engaging, would highly recommend this restaurant if you want the next level dinning experience.

First of all this place is absolutely gorgeous and the food was so so good. We stumbled across this restaurant while stuck in traffic. And we arrived with our toddler, bags and in our work clothes (after installing a messy Christmas display covered in pine needles) the restaurant has a formal feel and next time we pop by we will definitely dress up for the occasion. Thank you for a lovely lunch. X

We have visited the Woodspeen several times over the last few years and has always been superb. Christmas Day lunch was no exception - we had a fantastic 5 course meal, the menu was exciting and every course was delicious. All the staff were very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable, table service was timely and we did not feel rushed. This was our first time in 40 years eating out for Christmas Day and absolutely made our day so thank you very much! Highly recommend.
