Kim-Joy’s Graphic Novel “Turtle Bread” Tackles Baking and Anxiety | Eater

"A charity-run café in Leeds that supports women facing significant disadvantages by offering practical baking and barista training alongside employment opportunities and access to psychotherapy, so participants can work in the café while receiving mental-health support. The program treats baking as an accessible intermediary for building confidence and opening up emotionally, using communal food-making to foster connection, wellbeing, and pathways toward employment — a model that inspired aspects of Kim-Joy’s graphic novel." - Jaya Saxena

A lovely find! I love the ethos behind the business and the great work that they are doing. Staff were so friendly, welcoming, and patient. The service was fantastic! Chai latte was delicious, and the granola was so good I would've bought a bag of the stuff!

5 stars all round for this excellent hub of magic. The service is kind, friendly, quick, and the food is incredible. And not expensive for the excellent quality. This little cafe has become my go to, even when i’m not at work. I also have been on a no bread diet. And there has been no problems in designing me my own salad, specific to my annoying needs. This needs people to shout about it a little more. Genuinely wonderful.

A lovely little spot! Delicious coffee and sweet treats, we also had some excellent toasties which were a generous portion and just as tasty as everything else. Highly recommend - and all for a good cause!

The Wren Bakery is one of the best coffee shops in Leeds. Everything about it is amazing: coffees, food and most importantly the staff. They are all so smiley and always make sure you are having a good time !! (Prices are very affordable as well!)

An exceptional little cafe, a bit off the beaten track. Excellent chair latte and tuna melt sandwich. Really lovely staff. And it's a social enterprise that helps women get into work. What more could you want?
