New Detroit Restaurant Opening in Corktown with Axe-Throwing, Tacos, and Beer - Eater Detroit

"Similar to the Ferndale location, the Yard at Corktown will stock more than 500 board games, and a variety of classic bar games including pinball machines and shuffleboard. The Corktown location is the only one with a large outdoor area for dining." - Monica Williams

This place is a must check out!! It's like a an amusement park for older people who can actually interact with the games. The service was great the food was delicious and the weather was just beautiful for the night. There's enough games for everybody to go as a group or to just meet someone when you get there to play with. They even have professional marksmen games! Drinks are plentiful and bar areas where too. It's a great romantic date night or fun with friends

The yard is a very fun place if you like board games and other fun backyard games! I was there when it wasn’t too busy out, but I can see how that place can get packed easily! Looks like it would be better to make a reservation for any size group that you want to go. The drink service was good and the food service was more like a Street truck style. You place your order on a computer and then pick it up at the window. The burgers did not come with fries. The burger was just OK. Still a very fun place to go and a cool experience!

It was good experience! The vibe was great! Loved all the game options! Lots of space to move around! Only thing could’ve made it better was if we got some drinks! But that means we have to go back! Which we all said we would!

We returned for a date night Saturday night, and we had a great time. Everyone was playing games, they had chill R&B music playing, and the food and drinks were good. The pizza is Detroit style and maybe could have used a few more minutes to get a little crispier, but it was super cheesy and melty and reminded me of when I was a kid. their fries are the super crispy kind, and the burger and chicken sandwich was decent. Their system of ordering food was also really efficient - they were packed and I got my order within 25 minutes. They also make nice strong drinks, and the bartenders were nice. Be aware, you must pay a $10 entry fee on Saturday nights, but I think it's well worth it. For that price, you have access to all the outside and board games, so you could have a cheap, fun night out. Even with food and drinks, we spent about $100 which is a pretty good price for downtown.

We held a company event here and I have received excellent feedback from the attendees. The space is so fun, everyone had a good time and the food exceeded expectations. Geoff was a pleasure to work with and his team does a great job! Very cool place.

We had so much fun here, on our team outing! They have the most friendliest staff. The game were fun! The was great! I hate to say this, but, the sofas in VIP were to low for these arthritic knees. I thinking of taking my daughter volleyball team there as an outing.

Real or hype? Three stars says HYPE. There is a $10 cover charge for adults. If you’re coming with a group I would suggest making a reservation or arriving super early. We arrived on a Saturday just after opening. There were a decent amount of people there. All the games are free with the exception of axe throwing and the arcade games. There was a wall filled with different types of board/card games. Cornhole and cup pong were on one side. Large connect four and other games on the other side. Music is kept at a very low level. Drinks were just ok. They could use better mixers. The lemonade used for the lemon drop was gross. Definitely just basic mixology skills from the bartenders. But hey they can only serve what the establishment provides. Food was very minimal and mediocre. Axe throwing…hmmm…. You pay for an hour, however, it’s not solely the people in your group. The time you pay for is not exclusive to your group as others will be able to throw during your “reserved time”. It’s an ok spot. Definitely a lot of hype. From the outside looking in, drunk people always seem to have a good time.

This is a must check out spot in corktown! Its a playground for adults with a ton of games and other things too do. The service was great and everything was reasonably priced. There is a $10 entry fee but it is well worth it. The food was good and the drinks were poured fairly.

Yelp
I loved the vibes of this place! $10 cover on the weekends. You can chill and play board games or throw some axes, garbage can + volleyball pong, cornhole, etc. Food truck - easy to order from.

Yelp
Such a fun time!! There is a huge selection of board and card games, so the time flies by when you're here. I didn't try the food but we got drinks and the service was very quick and helpful! The bartenders were also very nice. There is a $10 cover on weekends but honestly it's not bad considering you could spend the whole evening there playing games with your friends, or even go for date night. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
I don't want to hear that there's nothing to do in Detroit when places like this literally exists . First of all it's such a vibe, this place is huge. So many photo opportunities if you're an Instagrammer. You can have drinks , food , do activities , watch the sunset . The options are endless. My drink and pizza was really good and of course , the pizza is Detroit style. A good place to chill and enjoy summer

Yelp
We loved it! We played Shut the Box, Yahtzee, and Scategories. Our bartender was a great person and made good recommendations. It's super fun, but quite busy. Not a bad thing for a bar!! We loved being outside in the summer.

Yelp
Neat idea, have all sorts of games you can play inside and out. Can even take board games outside. Service was nice great at outside bar. Kitchen and bar close at 11:00. Only issue was ordering food at 10:30 the guy asked for cash only, can only imagine why, reluctantly agreed to the order. Pizza and a pretzel. Came back up to the camper 5 times to pick up order and every time they asked what did you order, it wasn't written down anywhere, no order number or anything. Hence the cash.... Picked up pizza and went back up, finally another guy got the pretzel. Little ridiculous.

Yelp
The Yard is the coolest game bar in the city! With a whole entire wall of board games and axe throwing, the Yard has fun things to do with the whole family. The bartenders always have the best recommendations, I got this fruity drink with some glitter by just answering a series of questions posed by them and wow did it hit just the spot. For food, there's a mini pod in the back that serves up tacos and nachos and bowls and LOADED fries! The best bar food, but it might get a little messy especially if you're playing some board games. I always come back to the Yard and with summer coming up they redid the yard and I know it'll be the best time! Highly recommend if you're down for something fun and new

Yelp
The Yard is a great spot for literally everyone. It is a bar, game room, taco food truck spot, backyard game zone, and axe throwing center. The bartenders are really nice and there are always people clearing empty glasses from the tables. The food truck is soooo good I love the nachos and loaded fries. There is a whole wall of board games to choose from and the backyard area is really fun. They just redid part of the patio and backyard space to include some cabanas.

Yelp
Ordered a margarita with Patron Silver and instead got well tequila that had been surreptitiously poured into a Patron bottle. Tasted like a**, definitely was not Patron, and yet my bill was 'top shelf' anyway. Lesson learned: Be wary of ordering top shelf liquor at The Yard or you'll end up with a raging headache and hangover from two drinks.
