The menu here is outstanding. We had the Halibut special and seafood paella which was delicious! This restaurant is in a hidden, strange location but I’m sure the locals love it. The restaurant has eclectic decor, with artwork displayed for sake by a local artist Shon Hudspeth. The outdoor patio could use a refresh but it’s quaint, and is interestingly disguised with grape vines to block out the busy street views and noise.

The food was delicious! I gave 4 stars for the service, it wasn’t bad by any means but just ok. Our server didn’t check in on us very much and I had to get up and ask for salt and pepper because she didn’t come by. I will definitely be back though to try more menu items!

We've gone here for several years now. We enjoy the quiet atmosphere and amazing food. Tonight I had the vegetarian risotto. It was amazing! 😍 They gave a generous portion of mixed vegetables, the risotto was cooked perfectly, and the sauce was the just incredible. I miss the vegetarian lasagna, but this risotto was the bomb! Others at my table had chicken, the filet, and a burger; and they all enjoyed their meal. I would definitely recommend.

Made an outdoor reservation online in advance for a party of four that was not honored so we ate inside. Ordered the steak special at $45 which was unevenly cooked when ordered medium rare. All in all the food was just okay the ambiance was nice. The server was also not attentive. May recommend for apps and drinks skip the entrees.

Todd was so kind, charismatic, and helpful! The Vegetarian Risotto was bliss- the vegetable stock was rich and flavorful. The truffle fries (obviously hand cut 👍) were crispy and salty and accompanied by a lovely Sriracha aioli. The Brussel sprouts were also fantastic- a boozy cherry, a bit of whipped goat cheese, and a crunchy walnut all melt in your mouth. Highly recommend for date night or a night out with friends. You'll actually be able to have a conversation! The patio also looked really fun.

A absolutely must!!!! Made a reservation for my birthday while we were in town. Got a recommendation from a family friend who use to live in Nashville and we were not disappointed. Staff was so friendly and the service top notch. We started with the mussels I had the rack of lamb with risotto which i highly recommended, my wife ordered the chicken pasta with vodka sauce. We will definitely go back next time we are in the Nashville area.

Nice little cafe, service was quick, not noticeably friendly, but thats fine. The food tasted good but nothing super spectacular. The sauce was a little watered down, not a whole lot pf flavor. Not many lunch specials/pricing offered, but they got me in and out in the time i needed.

We went here for anniversary celebration. What a great little restaurant. Food was good, Service was amazing and our server Todd was so nice and friendly. We tried chicken skillet, pasta and for desert creme brulle. Everything was good.

Yelp
Common Ground in Berry Hill is a fantastic addition to the Nashville dining scene! Having enjoyed their sister restaurant in Sylvan Heights, I was eager to see if this location would live up to the high standards set by its counterpart--and it absolutely does. The menu is eclectic and curated with a perfect balance of flavors. Whether you're in the mood for something hearty or a lighter, healthy option, there's something for everyone. The dishes are well thought out, and it's clear the chefs here put a lot of care into creating delicious meals with fresh ingredients. The ambiance is another standout feature. It's clean and contemporary, yet somehow still manages to be warm and inviting. It's a perfect spot for a relaxed meal with friends or a casual date night. The staff is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming atmosphere. If you're looking for a new favorite spot in Berry Hill, I highly recommend giving Common Ground a try. It's a gem that brings a unique dining experience to the area!

Yelp
Great atmosphere, wonderful staff. Parking may be an issue. Started with focaccia app, the house made whipped Boursin was a bit too salty and the grilled focaccia was oily. The sorghum butter and jam it was served with were amazing. Entrees: shrimp tacos were very heavy on slaw and bam bam sauce but lacking in shrimp, with only 3 small pieces per taco. Barilla tacos were more mini quesadilla than taco as they were heavy on the cheese ( which was burned to black, not an issue for me but def could be for some) and lacking in meat. I'd rather have 2 tacos heavier on protein than the 3 we were served as described. We finished with carrot cake which had good flavor but was quite dry. The icing was its saving grace. We decided to visit Common Ground after reading the rave reviews. The ambiance is great and staff were amazing. These are the things that will bring us back for a second glance. I think they can get there and hope they do.

Yelp
Pro: the staff is very friendly. There is a nice cocktail menu. Con: service is very slow - 30 min to get lunch. We ended up going to the bar to pay our check. The food is just OK. The seating at the tables is extremely uncomfortable. My sister had shrimp and grits and said it was delicious but it needed to be spicier

Yelp
Amazing food, cocktails and ambiance, plus the service was fantastic. The happy hour looks amazing and we can't wait to go back. Had the "Therapy Blanket " cocktail and it was perfect. At the table we had the miso Caesar, chicken, pasta and steak and potatoes plus cheesecake. All of it was fantastic!!!!

Nicolette T.

Yelp
What a sweet spot, they specialize in contemporary American food. I've been for brunch, lunch, dinner, and happy hour. Each time is such a pleasant experience. The food is clean and fresh. My friends and I split a few dishes, and my favorite were the espresso martini flight, crispy potatoes, and kale salad! They have a bunch of other great options too. They have a small lot out front. Service was friendly and efficient, vibe was the perfect intimate setting for a girlfriend catchup.

Yelp
Common Ground is going in my permanent rotation. We went at lunch and opted for the tasting menu. For $60 you get an impressive amount of excellent food. Each person gets two appetizers, a salad, main dish, and dessert. We began with the best focaccia I have ever had - so light and buttery with whipped Boursin. Next came short rib lettuce wraps - Korean BBQ with beautifully balanced Asian flavors. I chose the Miso Caesar as my salad and it is outstanding - love the miso dressing and it includes dried tomatoes and Parmesan crisps. My main dish was the steak and potatoes. The spiced tri-tip is beautifully seasoned with a creamy herb sauce. The fingerling potatoes were incredible. I really like the carrot cake also - moist and not overly sweet.

Yelp
food was amazing! had the steak and potatoes, espresso martini flight, birria tacos, and a gelato for dessert. server was great as well. we stopped here during a cross country trip but hope to come back again!

Yelp
Saturday Evening Happy Hour! Imagine our surprise when we visited Common Ground in Berry Hill for the first time on Saturday night when we were told it was "Happy Hour 'til 6:00." What? A Weekend Happy Hour in Nashville? Yep. In fact, they have Happy Hour 6-days a week (Tuesday - Sunday). So, of course, we sampled the Happy Hour menu! To be fair, the "Common Hour" food is labeled as "Bites," but that didn't stop us. The $4 Shrimp Taco had a lot of flavor and a good number of shrimp. The short rib Bahn Mi is not on the dinner menu, but it is served for Common Hour. It came in 2 shareable pieces. The short rib provided most of the flavor. It was tasty and easy to eat. We also tried the smashed fingerling potatoes with queso fresco. These were such a nice change from regular French fries. They were well cooked and well seasoned. They came with a bunch of queso fresco and a side of the "CG Sauce," which is a fancy fry sauce that is also served on their smash burger. It was a nice touch. I washed all of that down with a $5 beer. After all the Common Hour food, I tried the Seasonal Salad, expecting light and healthy. It was super fresh and loaded with apple pieces, roasted butternut squash, and spiced walnuts. The squash flavors blended really well with the black cherry vinaigrette. I would definitely get the Seasonal Salad again! The decor is simple, but they have a large and nicely stocked bar. The service was wonderful. Our server, Cassie, was super helpful and so pleasant. She did all the right things to help us enjoy our meal. In fact, all the staff we encountered were pleasant and helpful. Yes, I miss the Yellow Porch a bit, but Common Ground is a strong new option for a nice meal or a date night dinner. We will definitely be back!

Yelp
We got the shrimp starter, seasonal salad, and pasta. Plus a zero proof cocktail. The salad was our favorite part. They created a beautiful flavor and textural dish that really impressed us. The shrimp was good but the dipping sauce (avocado spread with zero flavor) was not a good pairing. In my opinion, they should have added salt and wasabi then it would have been a great dipping sauce. The pasta was a beef bolognese. They changed a great dish into a Chinese inspired dish which was not appealing to our palate. Having Asian style noodles with a spicy Italian sauce doesn't work, but it was a nice attempt. The cocktail (this side up) was really good, however at any restaurant I don't think pineapple juice and walnut bitters should be $10. Overall, we would like to try common ground again when the menu changes. Plus they have some cool espresso martini drinks that we would like to explore.

Yelp
Great food, excellent service, and a hidden gem that many will drive on by if you are not looking for a local restaurant. Our kids eat here frequently, and so we joined them for dinner while visiting from out of town. The focaccia plate or avocado toast is a must-start appetizer. The shrimp tacos, smashburger, and salmon were all good entree options. Depending on your appetite, I suggest you inquire about portion size.

Yelp
Fantastic service and fantastic food / drinks! Just needs a vibe check. We ordered the espresso martini flight to start (we both agreed the classic one is the best, hands down!) and it was fun. My husband also tried the Local Optimist and we both loved it. Super refreshing and an easy drinker. For a starter, we tried the short rib lettuce wraps and they were easily my favorite thing we got the entire night. Comes with a perfect sauce, I could have dipped everything in it. Smashburger was fantastic. The pickles were homemade, the sauce was perfect, and the potatoes were so good we asked our waitress how they were made so we could do them ourselves at home! Overall, a great experience. However - this restaurant needs a majorrrrrr remodel. The menu does not match the vibe. The tables and chairs are old and outdated (some falling apart), napkins were pilling, the decor is out of style, and the bar just has a ton of equipment and supplies piled to the ceiling. We were so confused how such a top-tier menu was living in a restaurant like that. I think the other location definitely has a more modern / updated interior (which is great!!) so we hope this one's next in line for a remodel? We would come back for the food only, not the environment.

Yelp
The food, the service, the atmosphere all 10/10. Came to Nashville to celebrate a birthday and wanted to try something new. Common Ground exceeded our expectations and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
My husband and I enjoyed an early dinner here and were pleasantly surprised that it was Happy Hour on a Saturday! Our server was outstanding- friendly and attentive. We tried the HH shrimp tacos and banh mi- both were filling and delicious- two in each order so perfect for sharing. My husband loved his winter seasonal salad and appreciated the fresh cut apples, sweet potatoes and spiced nuts. Normally I would have gotten that salad but opted for the Smashburger instead. It comes with smashed fingerling potatoes which is a nice departure from the typical fries everyone else serves. I liked my meal but it was a bit too salty for my tastebuds. We enjoyed the music and quiet ambience here- perfect for date night. We will be back again soon to try some of the drink specials!

Taylor R.

Yelp
This is a great restaurant for date night or brunch with friends. I love that there is an outdoor patio space. The menu is good and shareable. I love their cocktails the most though!

Danny P.

Yelp
Jack was more than attentive and his recommendations were spot on. The ambiance of the place is super quaint with the backdrop of the bar. Drinks were phenomenal.....

Whitney S.

Yelp
Had the most AMAZING lunch here. The burger was delicious! The shrimp tacos were divine! Great Irish coffee! Great service! Clean, nice establishment. Free parking. HIGHLY RECOMMEND!

Paul L.

Yelp
Walked into friendly service great drinks and tasty menu. Fly on out to Nashville but "Don't BNA Hole" and you will definitely enjoy.

Joanna B.

Yelp
This place is a hidden gem. Their happy hour cocktails are delicious!!! The potatoes are salty and perfect. The staff is all so nice and friendly. Plus free parking. Def reccomend going for happy hour!!!!

Lisa T.

Yelp
Charming neighborhood restaurant w/a relaxing vibe, friendly service, stiff cocktail, modest priced food and happy hour. Tried a bourbon cocktail followed by a smashed fingerling potato appetizer, and then a pappardelle dish w/added chicken entrée. Thoroughly enjoyed my meal and hoping to still have room for a caramel apple espresso martini. Check them out!

Michelle N.

Yelp
1. Cocktails. If you're a vodka drinker try the Flamingo Shirt; I think it's the best vodka drink in town. The seasonal bourbon drink was excellent. Espresso martini was also delish. Great garnishes and really well balanced cocktails. 2. Brunch. You guys. Nice portion sizes. Carrot cake French toast. Wow. Listed as shareable but could be a meal. Shrimp and grits was amazing. Breakfast Sammy on croissant with sausage was so good. Fingerling potatoes on the side of this dish were perfect. Everyone around us was also loving the frittata and the lox offerings as well. 3. Reservations. They take them! Hard to find in Nashville now. 4. Service. I've been 4 times now. Professional servers, chefs and bar folk here guys. They know their menu and they know how to be attentive without bugging you every 5 seconds or leaving you waiting forever. Such a great vibe and attitude from these folks. Check out the dinner menu before you go - I have not tried that yet but we did see a burger come out that looked amazing. Great spot in Berry Hill - will def be back for brunch!

Yelp
Tried this for the first time. The waitstaff could not have been nicer! Very attentive and very friendly. The food was just okay. my friends got the burger which looked terribly over cooked to me. They made no comment and didn't finish it, so that lead me to believe it was not all that good. I had the salad and an appetizer. Salad dressing (almost had no taste!) and the appetizer were both a little bland. Loved the atmosphere and locale, but the food needs a little boost.

Samantha W.

Yelp
Great food and even better service! The ambiance was beautiful and relaxed. I got the lox and an Italian silk to drink. Both were lovely!

Kelly B.

Yelp
Nope. Overpriced and not good that simple. Boring, uninspired and flavorless. They were terribly understaffed and the bill for 2 brunch items and 1 drinks was over $100. It was a nope all around.

Audrey G.

Yelp
Oh my goodness!! Family and I came into Nashville for a few days and happened upon Common Ground. Every dish we ordered was excellent and the coffee was fantastic. Aside from the food, service was outstanding. Our server Madelyn was attentive, kind, and gave us a list of attractions to hit in the few days we were in Nashville. The staff was kind to customers and each other making for a great, welcoming environment.

Yelp
The berry hill location is now on the regular rotation. The staff is fantastic , always cool and friendly . Lots of great things on the menu but their burger and potatoes should be rated top 10 in Nashville. House drinks are a standout also.

Anna C.

Yelp
Came here for my boyfriends birthday and this was one of the best dining experiences we've had recently. Julian was so kind and attentive and Just had the best energy!! Food was absolutely incredible!!! We will definitely be back. So happy to have more great spots like this in Nashville. 11/10 !!

Xanthia F.

Yelp
Fantastic Food and great specials! Would definitely recommend trying this spot out!!!

Sarah K.

Yelp
Wam Bam rock shrimp with the avocado mousse are fantastic as well as the focaccia. Drinks were great, and the spinach and roasted artichoke on the chicken were both delicious. Chicken and wagyu steak weren't overly seasoned or flavorful, and the pasta was scotta. Service was great!

Julia H.

Yelp
We've been here 3 times now. The food is yummy, drinks are inventive and service is good. Brunch is well worth the drive!

Robert G.

Yelp
Favorite new place in Nashville. Great simple menu (steak, fish, chicken, vegetarian). Filet is the best steak in Nashville. Great bar for eating dinner

Ethan S.

Yelp
Went for my birthday dinner last night, and had a great time! Super chill vibes, nice inside area, staff was very knowledgeable and nice. Highly recommend the shrimp appetizer, it was 10/10!
