"This gas station stand cranks out soft serve delights from March to October. With 40 flavors and toppings to choose from, there’s no shortage of variety here. Create your own blended Tornado, or choose from their list of Ultimate Tornadoes, with decadent picks like Oreo Cheesecake, Fudge Brownie Explosion, or Cotton Candy Crunch. For gluten free and vegan options, they offer Tahitian Vanilla and Almond Milk soft serve. If you can’t decide between a slushy or soft serve, try an Iceberg, combining the best of both." - Will Reaume

If you’re looking for the perfect scoop, look no further — this ice cream shop is a hidden gem that deserves all the hype! From the moment you walk in, the sweet aroma and cheerful atmosphere welcome you like an old friend. The ice cream? Absolutely divine. Creamy, rich, and bursting with flavor in every bite. They also offer vegan and dairy-free options that are just as decadent — no compromises here! Honestly, this place doesn’t just serve ice cream — it serves joy. Highly recommend making this your go-to dessert stop!

Google
I discovered Yogurt Station last summer, and it quickly became my go-to spot every week! The vegan ice cream is absolutely delicious—creamy, flavorful, and perfect for anyone looking for dairy-free options. The outdoor seating is lovely, making it a great place to relax or catch up with friends. What really sets this place apart is the owner, who is incredibly friendly and welcoming. From my very first visit, I felt like a regular. Highly recommend this hidden gem!

Google
I have been going here since I was little and this place has never disappointed me. I have now tried almost every flavor and I can attest that everyone is amazing. I recommend this place to all my friends and will take them here when ever they come into town. The staff there is also so kind and always puts in the best work to give me the best ice cream love this place.

Google
Would be perfect if it weren't for everything coming out smelling like floor cleaner, cleaning products, and cologne. The vegan soft serve is a game changer, but it smells like I am eating a bowl of Fabuloso.

Google
What an unexpected find! I wasn’t totally convinced when I saw that it was in a gas station parking lot but actually that added to the charm and simple pleasure of it all. The portions are massive so be prepared! There is seating but again, next to a gas station, so I saw most people getting their orders to go.

It's our favorite place to get frozen yogurt at. They've got a lot of flavors to choose from. They also make a great turtle sundae.

Google
This is the best ice cream I've ever had. This place had fantastic outdoor dining, delicious ice cream, and a very welcoming staff. They also give our dogs treats, so we can bring our dog along.

Absolutely love this place! My friends and I always look forward to coming here! it’s the perfect spot for a sweet treat. Highly recommend stopping by if you’re in the area

Yelp
Stopped during the dream cruise and this place was heaven. Small intimate shop next to a gas station. I love that they have frozen yogurt and dairy free options so I was not left out of the ice cream run. Service was quick and friendly. Stop in before ice cream season ends!!

Karolina K.

Yelp
The best vegan soft serve!!! It's so creamy and delicious! Why haven't I found this place sooner? The portion size is huge. They have plenty of additional toppings / flavors you can add to customize your ice cream. They also offer bubble waffles. Staff is friendly, you can pay with a credit card, and there are a couple of tables under the shadow so you can enjoy your ice cream looking at Woodard. Will be back for sure to check out some other things you can make with the vegan soft serve.

Tess S.

Yelp
Hey vegans! Two words... Tahitian Vanilla. I love it. I usually get a cone. Portion size is generous so I'm content with a small. Little parking lot but there's an ada spot right in front! Very accessible. Staff have always been efficient and kind. There's a water bowl for dogs and they offer free "pup cones" (vanilla soft serve in a tiny cone). There is a covered area with picnic tables and a bench to eat your treat at. Open seasonally.

Yelp
I was finally able to check this place out. Another gem in/next to a gas station (ala Mr. Kabob). I've been here three times since they opened a few weeks ago. First time I got the bubble waffle which was amazing, fresh, warm waffle wrapped around ice cream and toppings. It was a lot so good for something to share or pop half in the freezer and you have a treat for the next day (just let it sit at room temp for 15 min or microwave at 30% for ~1 minute). Second time I got a turtle sundae which hit the spot. Enough toppings to last all the ice cream, excellent portion size for one or even two people. Third time I got a small custard twist cone which was perfect. Although the small is a lot of ice cream, I don't want to know how tall the large gets. I've also tried the berry smoothie which is made with ice cream and is perfectly sweet and tart at the same time. They have frozen yogurt, ice cream, custard, and vegan non-dairy ice cream. So really everyone has an option for something delicious. Even someone that doesn't want ice cream can get a protein shake, float, or berry smoothie. Options include tornadoes (like blizzards or concrete mixers) with options for ice cream and mix-ins. They have lots of standard sundaes, shakes, mixers, and cone options but you can also make you own. Really this place has everything for everyone, you can't go wrong. Service is friendly and fast. Only issue is parking since we live closer to 8 mile than 696 we have to drive to this place (not many traditional ice cream options in Ferndale tbh), there are only two spots next to the window, but several on the other side of the gas station. I also saw people use the oil change lot over the small dividing wall when it was closed for the night. I think in non-Covid times they have seating which would be nice. Check this place out!

Chelsea S.

Yelp
Don't let the gas station scare you away, this place rocks! I highly recommend the caramel waffle crunch tornado!

Nicole S.

Yelp
The best vegan ice cream I've ever had - and it's soft serve! The Tahitian vanilla. Go get it and you won't be disappointed. While delicious, the price tag may shock you because it is on the more expensive side. We got two ice cream cones (one vegan, one non-vegan, both with sprinkles) and it was over $10. I honestly think it was more like $12. I'm always happy to spend more at a local business, especially one that is actually good, but beware that it adds up so you're not surprised like we were. It was busy when we went on a 90+ degree day, and I think there was only one person working so he was taking orders and making the ice cream before moving to the next guest. I'm assuming this was because of staff shortages, and everyone in line was being super patient which was nice to see. It still moved pretty quickly without any issues for us.

Mick V.

Yelp
Went here and it became our go to place last summer, but earlier this week we had a really bad experience. The person taking our order was more interested in socially with the other people working. Then after waiting about 10 minutes for them to make our ice cream (no one was ahead of us) my order was wrong, chocolate mixed in rather than caramel, and my wife ordered the vegan nondairy but got clearly got dairy soft serve instead and didn't feel good for the rest of the night. Very disappointing.

Jamie K.

Yelp
Don't be scared away just because its attached to a gas station! They offer so many delicious options and the portions are great. The prices are much better than Dairy Queen or Treat Dreams, too. I loved coming here all the time in the summer and I wish they were open year round! The unsweetened frozen yogurt with mounds of peanuts on top has always been my go-to (check out my pictures for reference). They have a nice seating area with plenty of tables and cute string lights.

Andrew K.

Yelp
Have been a regular for years and always enjoyed the product. The past few visits have been lack luster. 2 visits ago the red head took our order begrudgingly. When we asked for a moment to look at the menu, she slammed the window closed on us. A couple minutes later when she opened the window she looked at us expectantly as if we were taking up too much of her time, even though we were the only customers at the time. Thankfully someone else made our ice cream and it was delicious! A couple weeks later we had a very pleasant girl take our order and the red head made our tornado. It was extremely sub par with minimal toppings and ingredients and very soupy This place has great ice cream and yogurt just beware of the red headed woman with an attitude.

Marisa S.

Yelp
Great selection! They even have dairy free choices! And my pup loves that dog treats are free :)

Sara Y.

Yelp
I wish they were open year round! Delicious and fast soft serve, vegan options!!! Lots of yogurt or ice cream choices and lots of ways to enjoy them. Lovely sitting area for sunny or rainy days, friendly service, and amazing yogurt.

Teresa N.

Yelp
Amazing vegan option called Tahitian vanilla! The creamiest and best soft serve I've had in this area. I try to make it weekly. This is a great place if you like to have options as you can have your cone flavored with many different flavors!

Francine W.

Yelp
The second custard I've tried in the area and I like the yogurt station because its not too sweet. I think the texture could be thicker and most custardy but i like that its not overly sweet. The mini tornado is pretty big for a mini too. Good prices.

Melissa F.

Yelp
The place has the best yogurt shakes! A ton of flavors and supposed to be fat free, and sugar free but you would never think so. It has a nice outside seating area too.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Confession: I avoided this place like the plague for years, simply because it was attached to a gas station. Oh, how wrong I was. The Yogurt Station is the BOMB, for reals. First of all, they're open till midnight 7 DAYS A WEEK - perfect for those late night ice cream runs. Their prices are good, and their sizes are plentiful (a small usually does the trick for me, and this is coming from a girl who loves ice cream). Although it's call The Yogurt Station, they offer frozen yogurt, ice cream, and custard - plus they have a list of flavors they can add to any of your treats. My favorite employee is Stephanie - she has never messed up my order, she's always polite, kind and professional, and her ice cream creations are always on point. I've only ever seen 2 employees there at the most at any given time (normally it's just her) - so the fact that she's so consistently great with customer service does not go unnoticed. Check them out - you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Surprisingly good! Beats nearby Treat Dreams in flavor for sure. Organic and vegan available! Crappy grumpy service tonight tho

Kyla W.

Yelp
Soooo many options! Me and my family love it! And it's NOT connected to the gas station (technically). Highly recommend the turtle caramel tornado, with nuts instead of pecans. They even know my family's regular order

Jamie L.

Yelp
The bubble waffle was awesome. It comes with ice cream and your choice of three toppings and I loved it. They offer a lot of different flavors as add ons as well as toppings. I am curious to go back and try more of their menu items. The parking is a little annoying but they have a few tables you can sit down to eat your ice cream in.

Amanda D.

Yelp
Good yogurt. Bad service. I have some dietary restrictions and was asking the employee some questions who was not receptive and just plain rude. Would come back again for the yogurt and convenience of late hours but I prefer Treat Dreams further down Woodward.

Mimi R.

Yelp
SO many options to fit everyone's dietary needs.... And everything is so delicious!! Even the unsweetened frozen yogurt, which didn't sound good but was actually so good!!! I'm super excited to try to the chocolate waffle bubble cone next time I go!

Yelp
Today, I had another post-studying interest in getting some late night frozen custard. We were dead set on going to Custard & Co, but decided to be adventuresome and try out The Yogurt Station. It's closer, after all. (As a hypothetical aside, suppose you had two choices of places to go for frozen custard: A place called "Custard & Co" or a place called "The Yogurt Station". And the place called Custard & Co has ridiculous Yelp ratings. Yeah, thought so) Okay, so it takes us all of 5 minutes to get here. It's located in Pleasant Ridge, that stretch of liminal zone between Royal Oak and Ferndale, and attached to a Sonoco gas station. Gas fumes are not a pleasant way to start the experience. On the other hand, the parking lot is pretty big, and they have chairs and tables to sit at, which definitely beats sitting on cars or leaning against walls. There is only one true flavor for frozen custard -- vanilla. They do have 25 flavors, but these are blended. Frozen yogurt comes in chocolate, vanilla, swirl, and blended into 25 flavors. You can get cups, cones, dipped cones, floats, sundaes...basically, anything you can think of, they can do here. Prices are reasonable too, on par with every other walk-up ice cream place on Woodward. I decide to get chocolate custard with cherry dip. My adventurous companion decided on vanilla frozen yogurt with chocolate dip. Part One: The Custard Experience It tasted like soft serve ice cream. Not thick. Not creamy. Not even airy, like soft serve should be, but kind of that in-between density between the two. The flavor was not very strong either, which is to be expected from a blend. The cherry dip was also not very cherry. Part Two: The FroYo Experience Very soft and easily melty. Also not very strong flavor, with kind of a funny chemical aftertaste. Still better than the very disappointing custard. We didn't finish our ice cream. I wept a little inside.

Yelp
First time here! I was pleasantly surprised. Fast service and quality ice cream. I really like there options.

Kelli H.

Yelp
I have now been to the yogurt station 8 times and I fell in love because I have a severe lactose intolerance that I thrown up milk products. Yogurt also bothers My stomach. The Tahitian vanilla is amazing. After 20 years I can have what is close to ice cream that's not frozen yogurt. Last night I went and the service was not the best at about 8 minutes to closing. I ordered My tornado with Tahitian vanilla and the young lady decided to give Me frozen yogurt. I probably wouldn't know except the fact that frozen yogurt gives Me gas. My tornado was soupy which this has never happened b4. All and all I am happy this place exists but I don't appreciate being given frozen yogurt because they were ready to go. If I wanted gas I would have asked for yogurt

Maggie T.

Yelp
Went for the first time tonight. Was 'greeted' by a redheaded lady who clearly does not like working there. Eye rolling after saying we'd like to view the menu longer and head shaking while looking directly at us while deciding on a size. So sorry we visited this establishment and bothered your employee causing her to make a couple sweet treats that I would assume she's paid to do. We had questions about the menu but didn't ask because it was clear she was not going to be polite/happy with anything coming out of our mouths. Hate to review a place with a complaint, but that's just crazy for an employee to greet people with such a bad attitude.

Alex H.

Yelp
The first place that I've seen that offers the delicious and adorable bubble cone!!! I got a vanilla bubble cone with custard, and I was able to choose 3 toppings from their giant menu! Wonderful place, friendly staff, and delicious custard and waffle!!!!

Karen S.

Yelp
THE ICE CREAM IS FABULOUS!! Their malts and shakes are to die for! My dog gets excited when we pull in the parking lot because they have free doggie cones as well. They have a nice sitting area which is blocked off from gas station with picnic tables, flowers, lights and music for a great experience at an ice cream shop. The service has always been excellent, especially with Beth who has waited on me several times with a smile :)

Shannon A.

Yelp
Why do places have to be rude? Why do places I love and frequent regularly have to screw up...twice! Then get mad at me for saying something about it! Why did the manager tell me that "oh well it was busy" ...I know it was busy because I stood in line for my vegan ice cream a good 15 mins! So when I got in my car to head home and realized it wasn't what I ordered. I decided to go back and return the incorrect order. All in all I repeated the order 5 times to two different people. One of which is supposed to be a manager. Second attempt. Wrong again. It looked different but once I got in my car I saw that it was the same as the incorrect one... just less blended and chunky...as if I hadn't SEEN the incorrect toppings the first time so they blended less! Omg! Really? Lol! There was much confusion behind the counter when I returned my wrong order...looking for the slip, talking back and forth etc. So I called and told the manager. She was not pleased. With ME! Lol! "Oh well it was busy"...No sorry. No our bad. No nothing. Just rude smart ass-ness. Not cool yogurt station. Not cool at all.

Chelsea T.

Yelp
Don't let the gas station that it's connected to turn you away, this place is amazing. I was counting down the days until it reopened in April. All of the flavored frozen yogurts are great. The 'blizzards' are great, the birthday cake and mint chocolate chip are amazing! I would try anything!

Cha Cha J.

Yelp
I enjoy their yogurt. I think I had a birthday cake flavor with sprinkles. It was nice and creamy--just the way I like it. I would go back again, and I probably will before it gets cold and they shut down. They are not my absolute favorite frozen yogurt place, but they are in the top 5. I do wish they had a white chocolate-type flavor. Maybe white chocolate raspberry or something like that. Anyway, pretty good...

Dream P.

Yelp
Decided to grab yogurt after breakfast. They opened up 30 minutes late. After the red headed girl who showed no concern that I had to wait with two small kids finally gave me my order she got one of the toppings wrong, you would think after having to wait so long she would at least offer a free topping which is only 59 cents...nothing? I like the variety of this place especially the vegan options. But customer service is awful

Jessica Y.

Yelp
I used to be a Treat Dreams fan for my local ice cream needs, but now I had converted. It could be the free doggie cone or the 24 flavors of fro-yo, but mostly it's the smoothness and light, creamy flavor of the yogurt. The service is super nice and if there is a line it's always moved quickly. The only issue is the parking, but if it's after hours you can park next door. I definitely recommend you check it out. Preferably on a hot summer night when people bring out their pooches!

Amanda K.

Yelp
I really like this place. It's easy to get to, has late hours and a great menu.

Bettsie C.

Yelp
Ive been to this place a couple times and the stuff has been ok, nothing special. I live around the block and when my grandkids stop by we go here and get yogurt. However i was here a few days ago and the place had a old man working and taking peoples orders. I thought Ice cream places should have younger people and friendly people working, the old man was kinda creepy and scared my grandkids. There is a nice young women working the counter when I came last. Im thinking to myself why would you hire a older man to take kids orders when they order ice cream? Its just not right in my opinion. Keep the young people with smiling faces...

Jillian P.

Yelp
With Easy Like Sundae, Treat Dreams, Coldstone and BR's, a 'mom and pops' ice cream shop has alot of competition with already well-off parlors. The Yogurt Station is the least-expensive and the option that gives you the most for your money IMO. They also have the choices of soft serve ice cream, a healthier option of frozen yogurt, and the most fattening but tastiest option, frozen custard. You can get any of the 3 above choices with any 24 added flavors. There is a variety of 'tornadoes', with a mini size being only $3.50. My favorite thing to order would be the 'banana dream pie tornadoe' which has vanilla ice cream (I substitute for custard for an extra .50) mixed with bananas, pie crust and whipped cream. They also have protein shakes for a pre or post workout. Another bonus- of the 10+ times I've gone, the line has been less than 10 minutes. I hope they get enough customers to stay in business, the location is a bit north of all of downtown Ferndale's foot traffic. Try them out!
