The Z Bar

Really cool little bar! The bartender was super friendly. We had ducked in to get out of the million degree heat and have a cold one, happily surprised how super cool and chill it is in there! And their back patio is a vibe with a dj or there and misters. It was just too hot for us to hang out back there on this particular day!! We will definitely go back here when we're in town!!

Amazing drinks. Great service. Luke even got a little creative with this lavender cocktail. Love the vibes here.

The Z Bar is an incredibly welcoming spot with a warm and friendly atmosphere. The staff go out of their way to make you feel at home, and the other visitors are just as inviting, creating a great sense of community. Whether you're a regular or a first-time guest, you'll feel like part of the family. A must-visit for a great night out!

Z bar is amazing! The bartenders are all very friendly and quick to serve. Their craft cocktails are delicious and during happy hour 4-6 you can get them for 3 dollars off! Their beer and shot specials are good too and range from $6-$9! The outside is amazing during the day, lots of room with an outside bar as well! At night there are ample fire pits to sit around ! One of the best bars in Reno and definitely a favorite in midtown!

Popped in here on a Halloween weekend Saturday afternoon (dressed as Beetlejuice and Lydia), and we had been mostly having beers, but this looked like a place for cocktails, and indeed it was. Had some great seasonal concoctions, including a lychee one and a spiced apple one. The bartenders were cool, the atmosphere was nice, and the drinks were great (and reasonably priced.)

Great little bar with live music. It's a lively place with a karaoke outside on the patio. There are a lot of tables and chairs outside. A food truck is also parked outside. Stopped here with a few friends for a few drinks and had a great time. Hope to return soon.

Am having a great experience here. Very charming and friendly staff. Ask for KJ, he is the spirit of this place 👌👌. Bartender Niky made me an amazing cocktail with almond tequila, almond juice and lemon juice... ✨🍸✨... OMG, I had to have her give me an encore, God bless her intuitive soul🍸🤪🤪🤪❤️💯👌👌👌🤪🤪🤪... I love the wall of bottles... and all their ecclectic decor... those lit-up tables, the multitude of cozy spots to hang out (u can be part of the party crowd or find a quiet spot when u need to) They have a very charming patio also, and a lot of various art, both pieces on the wall, and murals, indoor and outdoor. ✨❤️✨ I was here for about 6 hrs yesterday, the crowd was very friendly, overall a great vibe, good place to get a drink and make great conversation 💯👈. There is an Indian restaurant right across the street, when u need to grab a bite, I recommend it whole heartedly

The fire pits on the outdoor patio are the highlight of this awesome bar. Being that I don't really drink alcohol anymore, it would be nice to go to a place that offers more than the typical bar scene. Z bar is just that. Unique in that there are around six large outdoor fire pits w comfy seating, outdoor white lights (I'm a sucker for a string of white lights) and always the best music playing. Every time i come here the bartenders treat me like a long lost friend. I appreciate that. Located in the heart of midtown. I guarantee you will love this place. No matter what your looking for, whether a chill place to or a hyphy club scene later in the evening, Zbar has what you are looking for but don't tell anybody

A black owned bar!!! Yaahhh!!! The size of the bar is just great! It's really hard for me to find Remy in this town so I was elated to see it here. Now the vibe wasn't for black people unfortunately. I was hoping to see a lot more kinfolk than I did but I can also see why. I was introduced to Kj but unfortunately he was busy. As there are only 2 bartenders the wait is ridiculously long and well... who wants to deal with that constantly? The inside is kinda small so the majority of ppl are outside where the dj booth is as well. Nice setup outside. Kj says the outdoor bar will be opened soon. That really doesn't help the wait time if there's no additional bodies. Definitely need 3 ppl behind the bar, one on each end and one in the middle. Now Sarah is so sweet but she isn't an octopus and can only move so fast. Street parking isn't too bad. I sure hope someone on the kinfolk side decides to promote this. Not many ppl talk about it and when I did mention it the response wasn't the greatest. Definitely could be "the spot".

I wanted to re-review this place after my last experience. I came here on a Saturday night and man was it poppin! Service was a bit slow but it was crazy busy. The outdoor area that was newly added within the last few years is truly awesome. Multiple fire pits, lots of seating, a dj, and games. It's and extremely popular place over the weekends but a fun spot for cocktails.

Friday night vibe is amazing! Small sized crowd around 9PM but definitely pick up a ton about 11PM. Mostly outdoor patio seating with a good selection of mixed seating options, and large sized Jenga and Connect4. Fire pits were perfect for warmth at late night and were smokeless which was so incredible because I love the heat but hate the way the campfire smell sticks on you. Green tea shots were so delicious and we also ordered W.C and summer fling. Bartender recommended buffalo trace bourbon for an old fashioned. For round 2 we tried their strawberry daiquiri and the chinese lily. The W.C and strawberry daiquiri were my favorites! Totally recommend checking this place out with friends or date night. Does get really loud once the crowd picks up so this place isn't quite fit for an intimate conversation but good for a casual meet!

This is one of my favorite hangout spots! The outdoor seating is so nice any time of the year. In the summer, the nights have a nice cool breeze and in the winter, they fire up their multiple fire pits. They also have karaoke and sometimes DJs. I went recently and they even had an afrobeats DJ which is pretty dope. The drinks are delicious and the staff makes sure to get them to you fast! Overall, a great Black-Owned business that has a lot of culture with good drinks!

strawberry balsamic is 10/10! the outdoor space is lovely and the bartenders are great. amazing vibe overall and great bar. nice bathroom and honestly no complaints. I visited here with my friends and we all enjoyed the drinks, and stayed warm by the fire pits out back. would 100% comeback, the drinks were also were reasonably priced, honestly cheap for reno.

It's one of my top three bars and places to hang out on the evening. With an outdoor courtyard filled with adult janga, connect four, benches for board games, and lovely seating around a communal set of fire pits, it's a great place to pick up an evening drink, unwind or enjoy the ambiance. Lots of choices on tap, karaoke nights, a usual cool crowd, and some awesome bar tenders; This is a rad place to hang.

Great local bar the bartenders remember you and it has a young local crowd mixed in with a few local bigwigs. They have a great bourbon selection.

I recently treated my management team to a happy hour at the Z Bar. I haven't been here since it was the Zephyr. Our bartender for the night, "Z," was amazing! He crafted delicious cocktails and was super friendly. We will definitely be back!

Zbar is a great place to spend it with friends and meet new people. I have made so many great memories. It has such a cool vibe, good music and sitting by the fire is my favorite part. Get there early to secure a seat by the fire.The service is great and the bartenders make great/money worth drinks. The owner is also welcoming and it is nice to see him walking around talking to people and helping his staff.

Suppper cute and chill/romantic outside seating with all the fire pits. Plus the taco food truck parked outside had AMAZING quesadillas! Drinks where great. Inside gets way too packed and stuffy quickly. But service is quick and friendly.

Super cozy place with an amazing outdoor patio. Bartenders were super friendly, quick and made amazing drinks! They had their winter cocktail menu when we came in. The Apple Brown Betty was sooo good! Like drinking spiked apple cider. An absolute favorite by many in our party. The Chinese lily was also a favorite! Will definitely be back to this midtown gem!

Only popped in for a quick night cap and was totally satisfied with the espresso martini. Great vibe and service was quick for how busy it was.

By far, one of the best nightlife patios in the Reno area! The drinks are tasty and the staff are knocking them out with speed. This is a must when planning your night!

This place is a dumpy bar in midtown. The bartender was super chill tho, he gave me a free cranberry/soda with my Jäegermeister shot, perfectly chilled. I came to meet a local volunteer group but I wasn't very impressed with the set up...a park bench outside in the blazing sun, ew. I met a few gals with the red shirts on but overall left unimpressed. This is a happening area of midtown so it was hopping and hard to find decent parking for my killer pumps. Sooo overdressed oops I forgot I was in Reno :) I have too much going on this summer with lots of houseguests and family coming to visit, Fun! The menu had some specialty drinks to offer but I was driving not more drinking just 2 shots! Gravel outside back was rough; I wasn't prepared for such a dive bar. Great Midtown location across from my beloved Junkee!

They don't offer food, it's only a nice small bar for an after work hangout. Great patio and the service is great.

I have come here a couple of times in the years past, but I believe it was before the large patio area was there. A group had set up an event to sit out at the Firepits, and it seemed that there may have been close to 25 people in attendance. Luckily there are more than enough firepits to go around. There is also plenty of bench seating so there was enough seats for everyone. I loved the feel of the firepits on a colder night, definitely good chill vibes. I didn't get out a chance to check out the food truck that stays on site- but I saw a bunch of wonderful smelling onions and french fries being brought out to people. I thought their specialty drink menu was so fun, I ordered a Christmas in Hawaii and that's exactly what it tasted like! The later it got, it also seemed to get more busier which makes sense for a Friday night. I think this is a great spot, especially with the warm weather that is to come with the changing of the seasons.

Z Bar will always hold a special place in my heart. The first time I walked into here was on my 21st birthday and the owner, KJ, made it very welcoming and special. The drinks are great and the atmosphere is very chill. I love that they have a outdoor seating now. It is a great place to hang out with a group of friends on a nice summer night. I love all of the signature cocktails, but the one that keeps me coming back is the Strawberry Balsamic. The strawberry purée compliments the balsamic perfectly. I dream about this cocktail. I recently went to Z bar to order this cocktail but was sad when I didn't see it on the menu. I asked the bartender if she could make it and she gladly did. She said that it isn't on their current menu but they have everything on hand to make it and it was the highlight of my night. I think the Strawberry Balsamic is my favorite cocktail of all time.

Good music when they have a dj and when they don't. definitely a good vibe to just chill and have some good convo. The bar tenders are friendly and can make almost anything you ask for the bar is large and you will have options. I didn't get food this time around but the food truck out back is always on point offering Asian fusion foods from wings to sandwiches I usually partake but this time was just a chill night with the girls and drinks. Zbar is definitely doing it for Midtown!

Whoa. I went to a bar during COVID. It was a little more than a month ago. Farewell drink with a good friend. Needed somewhere with good cocktails and whiskey that you could enjoy in an outdoor space large enough to allow distance and with warmth on a cold winter night, Z Bar was the perfect spot! Their expansive patio has a several nice permanent fire pits that are well spaced and offer a pretty comfortable space in 30-40 degree temps. They also happen to have great cocktails (Apple Brown Betty, classic old fashioned or whiskey neat for me) and a solid whiskey selection too. This visit I had a pour of a 6 year Willet and an old fashioned. Both delicious. Service at your seat is offered now, so you don't even have to get up! I'm not gonna lie. It was nerve wracking going out during the pandemic, but Z Bar had everything in place and I was way more comfortable than I thought I could be. I appreciate businesses that are taking this seriously and doing all they can to keep us safe. Awesome experience. Thanks for going the extra mile.

This place has a really cool vibe, great music, and it's definitely for the younger crowd. They have themes for different nights like karaoke night. The owner is very nice and humble. The bar itself is really small and it gets really crowded in there. But the patio area in the back is great. It has lots of room and patio heaters for the cooler season. I have only been here once I have to come back again.

This is a really cool bar that doesn't look like much from the outside. The best part of this bar is definitely the outdoor seating with the fire pits. The patio area makes it a great place to hang out with friends or a date. I had the Chinese lily cocktail and the BRB cocktail which were both great drinks. The Chinese lily was sweet and fruity and the BRB had darker liquor and was stronger. During weekend evenings it does get pretty packed.

How have I lived in Reno for 6 years and not been to this fun bar? I've had it bookmarked but we noticed it driving through Midtown tonight after dinner. We started out in the bar but ended up on the patio to enjoy the fireside tables. They have a really nice menu of cocktails. We had the strawberry balsamic (delicious!) and the peppermint hot chocolate. Comes with choice of peppermint schnapps or peanut butter whiskey (amazing!). There is a food truck and since we already had dinner we had dessert-Belgian waffles with strawberries and whipped cream which was really good! Love this place and will be back!

On this warm summer eve, it was for the perfect girls night out to reconnect after being stuck in our houses for wayyyy to long so we grabbed the perfect libations going fireside on the cute back patio. I had the Strawberry Basil with my ALWAYS liquor of choice - Vodka, strawberries, lemon, balsalmic vinegar & basil syrup - yummmyyy and my friend opted for the RC with upgraded Empress 1908 Gin, raspberries, cucumber, lemon, mint syrup - deLISH! The staff was super friendly, made GREAT suggestions for drink options and helpful with lighting the firepit for us to enjoy. Look forward to manyyy more chill evenings at The Z.

This cocktail bar is an absolute gem! Their bartenders and very fun and know how to make a wide variety of drinks! Their special drinks menu offers flavors you can't get anywhere else. The ambiance sets the perfect stage for both lively parties and intimate dates, catering to a variety of moods. And let's not forget their outdoor patio - it's a fantastic addition that enhances the overall experience. Five stars without a doubt for this wonderful establishment that has everything needed for a memorable time!

The bartenders are amazing! The drinks taste delicious and the owner is a really nice guy! He even gave my mom a deal to through her retirement party in the back! This place is GREAT!

The patio is so inviting with romantic fire pits. Electric and real stars look over you. I like the wall water feature at the patio entrance. Interior is smaller. What a neat buffet of craft ingredients and embellishments for their vast variety of craft drinks. Drove by a many times and so happy they participated in the 2018 Yelp whiskey hunt. Z Bar is the best bar for a chill night! I enjoy hanging out with friends in the outdoor area during cool evenings. Their Strawberry Balsamic drink is my favorite beverage. It's fruity, but savory. If you're looking to support a local Black-owned business with friendly staff, this is the place to go!

And they are right! BEAUTIFUL KITSCHY SET-UP The Z Bar is warm & inviting as soon as you walk into the door - spacious rooms both on ground level and upstairs - we conveniently commandeered the room upstairs. VERY TASTY! Did I say tasty drinks? You bet! We enjoyed a creamy gin cocktail and a luscious pink tequila & watermelon cocktail - these both knocked it out of the ballpark, and my hats off to Nicole who prepared this round of drinks for us (each varietal only $10 individually). SHAREOUT Delicious drinks, happnin bar with a great fireside patio with cool games, a nice group of patrons, etc.: KJ and his team make the magic happen at The Z Bar in Reno.

Pros: 1. popped by to check it out cause a friend recommended it. quite happy I did. Good selection of beers and cocktails for a fair price. 2. fruity cocktails were indeed fresh - these guys take their cocktails seriously - appreciate that 3. vast outdoor seating area that fosters that ppl sit together and mingle. Ended up meeting this guy who was there with his gf and we ended up talking blockchain tech and crypto all night - that was not expected but thoroughly enjoyed Cons: 1. don't come here for wine 2. not really easy to sit inside (not many choices) but on the pro side as stated above regarding the outside space Final Notes: definitely will return when in the area and have recommended to friends

I've been here a couple times before and apparently never written a review. We went back yesterday midday to enjoy a post quarantine drink out. The owner KJ has been working on his patio and it's a great space to hang. Super large space with lots of seating and a nice privacy wall so you aren't staring at the building/parking lot next door. There is also lots of shade covering and some existing fire pits for those chilly evenings. The inside looks updated but you can't sit inside for now due to social distancing. My group tried a total of four drinks and I sampled three of the four. All were delicious! I had a couple BRB's because bourbon is mostly my thing. Smooth and tasty with a nice scent of orange peel on the noise. Yum The Upside Down Pineapple was delicious, so if you are a rum drinker, you'll like this one. The Strawberry Balsamic was slightly tart but overall nice flavor and a good go-to summer cocktail. The prices are definitely cheaper than some of the other midtown cocktail bars you'll hit up, so that's a bonus too! I will definitely be back to enjoy my well priced cocktail in an awesome outdoor space with a relaxed vibe.

The strawberry balsamic drink is so refreshing and delicious!!! Went here on a Saturday night and it was crowded but the service was still quick and definitely helped that they have an organized line to the bar.

Didn't want to go in here because of all the fun I had at the zephyr back in the day, but glad we did. Sigh more expensive cocktails. But the one I had was good and strong. By this time on our cocktail walk I really couldn't tell you what the names of the drink I got was. I'm giving the full five stars because the patio is cool and has a WAFFLE truck.

It's been years since I last had a cocktail at Z Bar. This place was raging on a Saturday night in midtown in February. We attended a Yelp Event downtown at the Reno Philharmonic Orchestra and also a tequila tasting at 10 State Street prior, so we figured we should stick with tequila and check out Z's options. There we bellied up to the bar, sipped tequila, laughed about stupid stuff, and watched people. I highly recommend this bar for a fun night out and if you're looking for a wide range of good spirits and fancy cocktails.

Came here this past week for another whiskey Wednesday, Z the same bartender gave us consistent service. My roommate and I tried this top shelf Japanese whiskey they have in the top left hand corner when you're sitting at the bar (50% off on Wednesdays!) There's this rice based whiskey we tried and another more fancy whiskey (see pics) on the rocks, both were super tasty (the super pricey one was $6, 50% off) The bartender knew his stuff! Super chill vibes around 6:30pm on a Wednesday night, perfect pregame for our next event we were heading to.

Finally had a chance to go by Z Bar for a drink and it was a solid experience. They have a great back patio to enjoy the weather and it is a nice, quiet and laid back spot. We went inside and ordered up a couple dealers choice options. The listed cocktails sounded fun but there is something about trusting a bartender create a drink. We ordered one drink in the rum with a sweet flavor realm and one with a whiskey and fruit combo. The whiskey drink was incredible, full of flavor and was something I would happily order again. The rum drink ended up being more along the rum and lime than the desired drink but was still delicious. Plus, it is hard to say no to a $9 good cocktail in the world of overpriced $13-$15 cocktails at bars near Z Bar. We will be more than happy to go back and try some other drinks on a future night out.

Love this place, great patio. Fresh cocktails.. I love to treat myself to a coconut mojito or the straw balz I think it's called. I'll be back for sure, with friends. I showed up solo and made friends.

Comfortable trendy patio seating for a fun social get together. The drinks were good and not over priced. We went all out for the mozzarella sticks at the on site food truck! Great place for a date night!
