My friend and I were having coffee just downstairs in the coffee shop/lobby but started feeling hungry so came by thea for an early Wednesday dinner. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and has a nice, expansive patio -- perfect before summer comes in full swing. We decided to sit at the bar and order a few small plates to share.
Our bartender/waiter was super nice and attentive, giving us all his recommendations, which we basically ordered most of. We got the spicy crispy tuna rice, the charred octopus, dumplings, and whipped ricotta. I thought the spicy crispy tuna rice was pretty good, fresh, but portion was a little bit on the smaller side. Although I enjoyed the dumplings, which were fried in a somewhat asian-like dumpling wrapper, I probably wouldn't get them again just because beef in a dumpling is a little off putting to me personally, but objectively they still tasted good. I quite liked the charred octopus - that and the crispy tuna rice were probably my favorite small plates. The octopus was smokey, not too chewy, and seasoned well, albeit a little salty so would have been perfect had it come with a rice, bread, etc. to balance out the saltiness. My friend and I realized we were still a little hungry after these 3 plates, so we got the whipped ricotta. I usually don't love cheese but wanted to try this and thought it was pretty good! It tasted a bit like butter if it were creamier with some sweetness from the honey and cherries. We both also really liked the pita it came with, which was a perfect addition since our meal didn't really have many carbs to begin with.
Price came out to about ~$120 total incl tax/tip (and my friend's glass of wine), so definitely a little bit steep but I guess not abnormal for Scottsdale. Would be interested in coming back to sit out on the patio for a weekend brunch or evening drinks.
