"Situated in a small courtyard belonging to Zagreb’s youth theatre (ZKM), this young, lively restaurant boasts a bold colour scheme and retro furnishings, with an open-view kitchen and a veranda (the best seats are here). The extensive menu features classic French and Italian dishes alongside more creative options that pay tribute to local cuisine. Starters include fresh fish from the Adriatic, while the Beef Wellington is considered to be one of the chef’s specialities. The excellent wine list includes labels from all over Croatia – make sure you ask for recommendations. Don’t miss the charming outdoor space in summer." - Michelin Inspector

Dinner was a true delight — every bite beautifully crafted, every detail considered. ✨️🥰 The atmosphere was elegant yet inviting, and the staff made the experience even more special with their kindness and care. 🫂☺️ A place where food, service, and setting come together effortlessly. I’ll definitely be back. ✅️🥳

Quiet courtyard location — peaceful and empty during the day. Massive wine list with excellent recommendations, and they let you taste before deciding. Probably the most elegant wine glasses in all of Zagreb. The pea soup was excellent, and the beef tartare quite good too, even if slightly buried under potato chips. Service is top-notch — attentive, friendly, and professional. A refined spot for a relaxed, high-quality lunch or glass of wine.

A Disappointing Experience at a Michelin-Starred Restaurant My visit to Theatrium by Filho in Zagreb was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I’ve ever had, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant. While the ambiance was beautiful, the food and service fell far below expectations. My starter, the “Morski Cappuccino,” lacked texture, with rubbery shrimp and overly soft elements. When I politely shared this feedback, the maître d’ became visibly offended. Worse, my friend noticed staff in the kitchen tasting my dish and openly debating my comments, which felt deeply unprofessional. The soup was delicious, but service was slow, and wine pairings we specifically requested weren’t consistently provided. My main course, the sirloin steak, was well-cooked but had similar texture issues, leaving it uninspired. No new wine was served with it, forcing us to drink water instead. Adding insult to injury, the restaurant mocked my Instagram feedback with comments like “you didn’t even know how to behave in a restaurant.” This behavior was shocking and unacceptable. For a Michelin-starred restaurant, this experience was humiliating and far from the quality and professionalism expected. I cannot recommend Theatrium by Filho.

Theatrium by Filho in Zagreb offered a fantastic dining experience, earning a solid 4.5 out of 5 stars. The interior of the restaurant is something special—it feels like you’re stepping into a theater, with a stylish and dramatic atmosphere that sets the stage for a memorable meal. The waiter was very talkative and friendly, adding a personal touch that made the evening even more enjoyable. I had the Beef Wellington, and it was well cooked and full of rich flavors. Even the starter bread with butter was a highlight, showing that attention to detail is a priority here.

We had only one night stay in Zagreb and we dined in this restaurant. I am glad we did☺️ From the greeting everything was very good. We had as starters zucchini flowers, ceviche and shrimp skewers, every starters were very delicious and all the ingredients were fresh and tastefull. As a main course we ordered beef wellington and grilled octopus. Beef was very delicious and well prepared ( not well done, just a perfect medium). Octopus was very soft and delicious. I would highly recommend, thank you for everything☺️

Very disappointing visit. The food, apart from Pistachio lava cake and Burrata appetizer was completely bland and tasteless. The bread they served was strange, to say the least and the porcini butter sounded promising, but lacked any definition. They suggested Octopus on a bed of homemade tomato salsa or whatever which did not taste homemade at all and the whole dish was rather sad. Tuna cevapcici with bao buns, oh what a laugh. First of all, the patty was a far cry from proper bao bun, it was more of a dense sweet bun and the cevapcici were tastless, one could not tell they were from tuna, thete was absolutely no taste reminescent of the sea. But, most unnerving for me was that they would not bring a jug of water to the table, like we do not have the cleanest water in Europe. In France, the Netherlands, heck, even expensive Switzerland they bring the tap water even without asking. So, pretentios, but lame and not worth your time, nor money.

One of the "in" places in Zagreb - pretensious "food critics" put it at the top of "fine dining" list. Food is very good to excellent, but not spectacular. The theme is "original spin on traditional dishes", something everyone and their uncle are doing these days. The ambient is quite successful cross between minimalist and "domestic", sometimes at the cost of practicality. But pleasant. Service is excellent.

We came in for lunch and the place was almost completely empty. The food was very nice, especially some very inspired starters and great main dishes. However, the staff was all over the place, with us ending up with three different waiterss by the end of lunch. On top of that, we asked to see the wine list and were offered reccomendations, which then turned out to be glasses of the most expensive (yet unimpressive) white and red wine in the house. The desserts where average at best, with one being burnt, which just isn't acceptable for this price level. We will maybe visit again, but avoid the aforementioned traps.
