I just attended my first show and left amazed. How have I not heard about this place before? What a magical gem! Evanston is so lucky to have such a unique and fabulous theater. The show we saw was outstanding, but made even more amazing by having the action just INCHES from my face! The cabaret style shows here are in a small space and the audience is basically part of the stage. I've never had better seats at any other venue. I could clearly hear each distinct voice as they moved around us during the show and the actors even made eye contact with us and felt like they were singing to us at times. What a truly special place. I can't wait to come back!

We saw a great production of Urinetown. It's a very intimate space which adds to the intensity of the experience. The house staff were friendly and helpful.

I’ve been coming to the Theo for a few years now and every performance is thoughtful with fantastic talent. I was surprised that they recently decided to take on the musical Diana given its previous bad reviews of other productions but their take on it has been incredible. I have seen it twice already and could easily see it again. The actors have been amazing and everything from the choreography to the lighting have felt so intentional to tell a full story. The theater does a fantastic job as a cabaret theater and I couldn’t recommend it more.

I took my sister to see Diana for her birthday. Needless to say our seats were at the bar corner and we stared at the back of the actors heads the entire time. We left at intermission. Painful to watch and listen. Of course I didn’t bother looking up the reviews because I heard such great things. I wish I would have. They were not good.

This is such a spunky theater. They make the most of every square inch of space and the talent is amazing! Just hang onto your drinks when the jazz hands come out.

I love this theater! It’s so small that you get to be right at the front of the action. The acting and singing has always been top notch. And the staging, lighting, and set design are often good and different for each production! Seats are comfortable with good leg room. I have a subscription, and you get some nice perks like discounted tickets for friends and reserved seats. My favorite shows I’ve seen there have been Bridges of Madison County, Never Better, and the Secret Garden.

I am so very impressed with Theo Ubique -- their consistent choice of interesting and worthy scripts, their promotion of impressive young writers and performers, and the whole vibe of the place, which is warm, inviting and upbeat. A theatre that I want to support in every way!

Saw The Secret Garden this week and it was amazing! Well staged, and terrific talent across the entire large cast. Highly recommend! Given the quality of this production, I'm looking forward to seeing what they do next! (BTW, if you see The Secret Garden, be sure to read a synopsis ahead of time as it will better allow you to enjoy the show as there are many characters and a somewhat complex story line.)

Yelp
Went to see the play, Baked. It was delightful. Staging was excellent. Story line was funny and poigant. The space is nicely set-up. There is a bar for drink purchases. It is a nice evening out. The only problem is that the area is parking challenged. Do come a little earlier to secure pay to park spots. The area has little free street parking. The venue itself is usually air conditioned to be on the cool side. A light jacket or layer is highly recommended for all performances.
