Theory Nightclub Uptown

Free Entry on Friday Night but expensive alcohol. I didn’t think the alcohol will be more expensive than clubs in San Francisco or Santa Barbara. The club definitely has a young college audience with good music—toast to the DJ. The drawback is there’s a small dance floor, and folks don’t like to dance out here with more energy like clubbers in California. But makes sense if it’s due to the tight space when it’s crowded. The Club has great AC thank god for that.

The tall man at the entrance, named Mike, picks and chooses who to let in. It’s a circus. The line is just a crowd of people desperate to get his attention. Some people wait over an hour and pay $40, others get in for free immediately. This is not how you run a business.

Bartenders are nice but the crowd are……… Bad choices of songs Security are over reacting

Really loved my first experience here! Tina was quick and friendly! Love the intimate salon experience. She did a great job! She has a new regular client with me.

I don’t know if I will be back after our last visit. We requested girls in the section and they brought over several. However, one of the girls was already intoxicated and was given more drinks (not by us). In addition, she looked like she couldn’t have been older than 17….Very concerning behavior. Turns out someone in my party saw her being carried out after fainting in the bathroom! I hope she didn’t get hurt!

Went there this weekend for a party. This place is crowded with underage kids all drunk and more. Don’t know why the city has not closed this place down. A guy paid $300 to get in with 6 or 7 kids that in my opinion were minors because the bouncer didn’t scan their picture IDS from what I saw. This place is a kids conner. If you are looking for an adult time avoid this place. I didn’t try their food nor alcohol because I wanted to stay sane just in case the feds come over. But this is a disgrace serving alcohol to teens. It’s filled with minors. Be careful. Dj couldn’t mix maybe it’s just this weekend. Playing music that don’t sync well. Terrible experience

I would give this place 5 stars but it changed for the worse. One time I saw one the security guards sucker punching a customer and knocking him to the ground. I don't feel safe at this bar a lot of ghetto people started going there.

Very crowded and popular with kids. Everyone in there looks 18 or under... Music isn't very good and the bouncer doesn't care at all.

I loved the hospitality they gave me and my friends. 10/10 recommend coming here. A group go me and my girlfriends came here and had a few drinks, the owner walked me in and surprised me and my friends with a giant text on the big screen saying " happy birthday" and got us a round of shots.

Erica was very fast and attentive, great service and so sweet and personable and beautiful!

IT WAS AWFUL!!!! Sooo many underage kids in there. The bouncer literally told them to cash app him and he would let them in. The music was up and down. Bought a round of shots then left. NEVER AGAIN WILL I GO HERE.

21+ is all a lie. I got in with a fake so many times before I actually turned 21. Also, them men are creepy there and will 100% grope you and try to touch you under your skirt on the dance floor. Security doesn't give a crap because they are just paid off by those creepy men. WOMEN STAY AWAY!!! There are so many better clubs in dallas!!

They let too many underage people in, it's like you're babysitting when you're in there

Hands down a terrible club. Whats the catch? Big Mike and the frat boys that hold down the front of the club require bribes to get in and left me and my friends who visited from Cali hanging for an hour in line despite us being in the front and not telling us at any point leave. Great way to make people recommend you.

This place is one of the crustiest bars in Dallas. You will need a long shower or three after you leave. Everything smells like a mix of pee, sweat, and tequila. Also, everything is sticky. Don't come here if you're not f'ed up or you will have a terrible time. But if you are smashed, this place is fun. Fun to dance and look like an idiot but it doesn't matter bc everyone around you is a drunk idiot. Nelly played here once, that was random but pretty cool. Make sure you dress for the dress code. An infamous place in Dallas.

White bald short skinny bouncer at door terrible customer service. I called in advance to pick up my debit card and when I arrived the bouncer accused me of trying to sneak in when I clearly explained that all I need was my card and they can follow me in to get it. He cussed me out at the door and didn't even try to listed terrible service 0/10 never going back

Pretty racist club, if your not white or dressed like a rich kid your probably not getting in. Bouncer always lets the underage girls in first so me and my boys had to sneak in. Good place to go high on coke or molly, constantly being stimulated by the loud music and flashing lights. Drinks are expensive buts thats to be expected from a rich kids club. Its basically a lawless wasteland once you get inside, you can get away with basically anything. Only downside really is the fact of how insanely crowded it is and theres little to no room so everyone is ontop of one another the entire time with nowhere to breathe.

Racist vibes. Not coming back. Took them forever to close my tab because the girls were too busy paying attention to either to their regulars or the men at the bars. I had to ask the busboy to get the girls attention twice. Bathroom was gross and I had to wait because the bartenders were taking selfie's in the bathroom. I showed the bouncer my military ID to get in the front and he said, "thank you for your service, I mean your husbands service" sarcastically. Wanted to go somewhere to dance and this was just not the place. The place was so small and people were crowded in little groups in each corner. Not going back.

Bouncer kept denying the browner group in front of me. He let in a group of of white people (one with shorts on) in front of the brown guys. Then denied me cause of my shorts, despite also being let in there before with those same shorts!! Would not recommend!!

Me and my friends went to go have a good time and he said no Jordan's but clearly watched big mike let all the white people with Jordan's and we even tested him by letting someone in front of us with Jordan's to see if he let them in and he did but turned me and my friends down because we wouldn't pay him and i felt as though he was racist because i was with two white friends we put them up front he said they could come in but we cant yeaaaa wouldn't recommend they should be sued for discrimination!! If they dont want black people coming state that on your site so we know to stay away

Theory permits "no smoking" but allows there to be smoking marijuana inside! People will Bring blunts and spark them right in front of the bouncers and they do not say anything. NOTHING. They are doing this in sections, on the floor and there is a patio outside and they still are doing it inside. Mind you it's illegal in texas. They should take it into consideration that some people do not like the smell of drugs or on their clothes. If I were you just in general AVOID this club unless you want to smell like a Smokebox. It's disgusting and I would never run a business this way. Terrible management if you ask me. P.S. this place is always to packed so regardless where you are at you WILL smell the smoke, it will burn your eyes and throat. If you love to do it by all means go there because they do not care.

Great music,great drinks,very affordable...Definitely very young crowd. So depending on your taste I guess! About stolen phones and wallets-like I see in other comments-don't b a idiot!!! My friend got drunk and lost her phone, security found in seconds Like I said, we had a great time

This is a great club in Dallas for young people. When I say young people I mean it's usually packed with SMU students and the occasional tourist looking to buy bottle service. It is a very fun, very clubby vibe so if that's what you are looking for this is definitely the place. Also a fun place to bring out of towners looking to party in Dallas. Line gets VERY long so I wouldn't recommend coming after 11 and expecting anything less than a 25-30 min wait. They often reach capacity. Bottle service is very fun here as well.

Came to this establishment for a good time after the hockey game, not only did they steal my credit card they tried to steal my ID card and another card too, after we complained and threw a fit did they magically return the ID but credit card still missing?? they had a worker who jumped over the bar and tried to attack us when we were not combative or anything, all we did was ask for our stuff back, what kind of professionalism is this!!! What kind of workers do you have that attack customers? You are a business that steals peoples identities?? Or allow this behavior, maybe management is not aware of these illegal activities?! they take advantage of you thinking you have had too much to drink to realize they steal your card, that's a federal offense, they attack you, steal your personal information?? Just because we want our own card back! The bartender was aggressive she was unprofessional,immature, and down right rude, Don't go here for a good time unless you want to be taken advantage of or robbed! I Will be putting in a formal complaint with the city! There issuing Business licence! there bond! Insurance company, whoever and however to never feel the way I did tonight or anyone else who has been robbed and mistreated

IDGAF IF DRAKE WENT ONCE. This place is a cess pool of pick pocketers. Ik HUNDREDS of people who have the same story as me: cash, IDs, wallets, phones, designer purses, etc. - all gone at this overrated establishment. *Crowd jeering*

Would give it negative stars if I could. The bouncer thinks he's the coolest shit which he's definitely not. Only lets in underage girls or people who give him money. He wasn't even checking the IDs of these girls. And also only letting in people of colour if they gave him money, if you didn't have cash you'd wait in line for hours on end. 1000% do not recommend this place

Only go in here if you got money to spend. Clones small venue but def gives of the uptown Dallas vibes love it here.

I walked out with confetti in my hair and a spring in my step. The only way you'll find these audio visual effects is at Bomb Factory or another concert - think lights, music that gets you going, bottle service with sparklers, and free glow torches handed out by the staff. I didn't experience a line, the bartenders were on point, and I haven't danced like that in Dallas in a hot minute. The layout is similar to Concrete Cowboy but the clientele is a little older and more sophisticated. Plus there's a photobooth like at citizen! Between the Awesome light show above the bar, the DJ and the strong drinks, Theory nightclub is a new spot for Mckinney Avenue in uptown, and I'll be switching up from Level and Deep Ellum clubs to Theory for the foreseeable future.

I went to Theory over the weekend and my wallet was stolen from out of my purse. I had my purse on my shoulder the whole time and someone still managed to get my wallet from inside. I told the owner as soon as I noticed and he did nothing about it. It seems like items get stolen a lot here. I would not recommend going.

Zero stars. What a rip off. Bouncers suck. The line is disorganized. Trust fund babies with fake IDs crowd the bouncers and beg them to get in. THE BARTENDERS ARE THE WORST!!!! The brunette bartender (long hair & wore vans) couldn't hear our drink orders so we repeated it directly into her ear like 7 times. We ordered a AMF, 2 shots of liquid cocaine, and 2 shots of beautiful. She came back with 2 AMFs and 2 shots of this peppermint flavoring bullish*t and charged us $50. She said she didn't have the ingredients to make what we wanted. Soooo, give us things we never asked for and over charge us? ok thanks. Great executive decision making skills you moron. Then the other bartender, dark blonde dude who looks kinda old helped me. I asked for two shots of Jameson. He walked away before I could say I wanted a chaser. So I asked for it when he came back with my shots. He leaned over to me and said "you couldn't say that the first time?" And snatched my credit card outta my hand. Rude bitch. Someone give this guy a hug or something. Don't waste your time.

Tried to have fun with my brothers for the first time in a long time and was truly disappointed when we arrived here. The bouncer held us at the gate because we were quote " wearing Jordan's " which is very understandable. But as we waited we watched him let multiple people in that wore the same shoes as me. I feel like it was racially charged. Whoever that bouncer was needs to be replaced.

DO NOT COME HERE!!! 2nd weekend in a row I went here with my friends and we had wallets and phones STOLEN!! Spoke with management and they said this has been a problem for months now... not worth the risk.

Horrible music, horrible atmosphere. If you want to dance, go to Beauty Bar or It'll Do. If you want to get laid, stay home and get on an app. You will have more fun catching up on emails.

Went to theory for the first time after hearing raving reviews from friends. The venue is decently sized and has cool visuals. The staff handed free glow sticks and at the end there was confetti. The line was about 15-20 min when I went (around 12:30AM) but I heard usually was around 30 min. Why 3 stars? First of all, the dance floor was packed so it was hard to dance on. Second, if you just want to dance with your friends this won't happen since you'll likely be grabbed by random guys. Guys seriously, ask before you approach a girl and don't be a dick when you are turned down!! If you are looking for a more chill environment and just dance, I highly suggest it'll do. Sure, it's not as fancy looking but at least you'll have a great time dancing without guys who should be on Tinder instead.

Came here for the A-Trak performance...interesting to compare this place to Hakassan for Tiesto in Vegas where I was a week earlier. First off, $20 cover...too pricey for a bar(calling this a club is a disservice, when there are real nightclubs with good acoustics, etc) for A-Trak who showed up very late. Second, and the reason for the 1-star review...$4 for a plastic cup of TAP WATER. Vegas, known for its insane club drink prices, charged avg of $6 for BOTTLED water. But yet, here I get to pay $4 for pristine Dallas tap water. I would understand a $1 charge to cover the cost of the cup & make a 100% profit margin. But $4 is greedy and I'm never coming back. The bouncers were all friendly, and the bartenders were OK, but management is definitely greedy. Moreover, the drinks are watered down too, glad I didn't pay for that after getting ripped off with the water.

Really good club but kinda fucked on the dress code. Expect to be randomly kicked out unless you have a table. Again, really good bar tho lmao

This place rocks! Line didn't take long and a line is a good sign IMO. Never been to a good club you didn't wait. Lol Drinks were strong and bar staff was fast! Music was great and had great energy. It's was packed but again what great club isn't? We will definitely be returning. ProTip: Get there early to avoid the line

My group of friends went to uptown Dallas to find the chill spots to go to and oddly enough found this place. The music was really good and met alot of new people to hang and drink with. Servers were super nice and the all around atmosphere was inviting and electric. I plan on coming back here again soon!

If I could give zeros stars I would. My friend was discriminated against by what she looked like. They let a person in who was wearing a skeleton onesie but told my friend who was in jeans, boots, and a nice shirt that she was "dressed casually"... several of the people who had walked in before were in Halloween costumes... like are you kidding me? She couldn't get because she didn't look the way you wanted her to. She was dressed nicer than several of the other people who came before who were dressed way worse than she was.

FAVORITE CLUB IN DALLAS. Best service, cool bottle presentation, pretty crowd!! We had a birthday party there a couple times and it was an absolute blast! The owner personally reached out to us to make sure they would have decorations for our friend! They provided balloons, a cake, and even masks with our friends face on it! So funny!!! They also did a filter for pictures with her name and put her name on the HUGE screen they have displayed over their bar. Seriously if you are planning a night out you should check this place out!! 5

spent my 21st birthday there biggest mistake of the year. my purse and and a large amount of cash were stolen from me. i have heard of MANY stories of ppl getting robbed there. GO AT YOUR OWN RISK is all i have to say

The place is a hidden gem! I've passed it a bunch of times visiting places around it, but I was pleasantly surprised to walk in to a beautiful space, with an nice mellow ambiance. One perk is the photo booth when you walk in. You can have an endless amount of fun with friends a few steps from the door. I went , for a charity event. this place screams good vibes. Now it is a lounge set up with spacious tables all along the wall with a sizeable bar and dance floor. Speaking of the bar, they have a huge ceiling screen where they posted the flier for the event--which I thought was a nice touch. The event coordinator hired a privated DJ, but the they have a nice DJ setup for whoever is spinning for the night. I wish I knew more about their weekend setup, but it's a wonderful space to have a good time.

Honestly thought this place had closed down for good during COVID and I'm surprised it didn't close down before. I would say this place has a reputation for being rude to young professionals and giving preference to teenage looking crowds. Dallas is more of a bar city as opposed to a nightclub city, and for anyone else who's ever been inside this place, you'd understand why. It's not the best of uptown, but it's next to some great uptown bars!

Ive been visiting this place since they opened. It is very important to mention how gorgeous the place is. The amazing screen in top of the main bar is only one of the increíble things this place offers. All you see is with fun, beautiful people... all you hear is GREAT music (yep, a wonderful conversation of all the best sounds). If that is not enough, the staff is amazing. Wonderful customer service. You can tell the commitment to excellence. Show up early or reserve a table because I am not the only one that thinks this place is great!!! This place is on fire!

All form no substance. Pictures better than reality. Despite the glitz, it attracts the type of crowd who gets flat out drunk that the place can sometimes reek of vomit. Music and drinks so-so. People don't come here for the music, drinks or convo. They come to be seen. Period.

This bar is very selective about which rules apply to which people. If you are a person of color, you are required to jump through infinite hoops to "fit the dress code." No Jordan's, No sports wear, no suits unless you are white.

I would give 0 stars if I could. This club was a shit show. The line was ridiculously long- & they were just letting people in outside of the line. We waited over an hour to be told "it's most likely not gonna happen" to get in tonight. Then he kept telling us to wait and be patient! Made absolutely no sense. WILL NEVER BE BACK. Maybe if the guy was nicer, they would have more GOOD reviews on here.

Went to Theory on friday and saturday night and had a good time, great venue! Friendly bartenders. Forgot my ID abd CC there saturday night and Steven came to the venue on a monday afternoon to give them back to me since I was leaving town same day. Very helpful. Recomend it for house music lovers, they also use alot of lasers and smoke. Loved it.

WORST EXPERIENCE EVER!!!!!! I usually don't write reviews but I am sorry I need to write this one so others after us could avoid such a horrible experience. We were just two of us, and we waited in the queue for over 45 mins, before we decided to leave .. We understand that they were over capacity and that we didn't book a table in advance, but we were just 2 and the first in the Q, and MIKE and his boss continue to let people behind us in, while we just kept standing there waiting for our turn. There were clearly discriminating, I was with my boyfriend, so perhaps that was our disadvantage coz girls behind us were being let in all the time.. At the end of all, my guy literally requested them if they could let us in just so we could have some experience as it was our first time there, and we were just two, but instead of any apology or some nice words to say the least, we were given a cold shoulder. Management, I hope if you do end up reading this, you would learn some basic courtesy and make an effort next time to atleast let people know that they won't be given an entry than let them just wait there in 40 degree temperature for indefinite time .. PS : super racist, and oh also if you are anything older than a under grad, be prepared to wait wait and wait, and then get frustrated and leave

This is was my first experience in theory nightclub in uptown. I'm originally from Venice beach in SoCal and I came out to Dallas to celebrate for the weekend. Everything was good until a random drunk white girl pointed me out and the security walked me out. I was very confused as to why security aggressively grabbed me and walked me out of the club. Apparently she accused me for taking her bag or something like that. They made a scene and the police searched me and As it obviously turned out, I didn't have anything in me.l. She gave me a weak apology and walked back in the club. As for me, the bouncers that worked the club didn't let me back in. How they treated me even when I was innocent was foul. I felt racially profiled and disrespected. Even the police was aggressive with me for no reason. I never experienced this before. I'm a young successful black man from California and it was very apparent that I did not need to steal given the fact that I was wearing a Rolex and a balenciaga outfit on. However despite this, I was subjected to such humiliation. I am contemplating contacting a lawyer but I'm not entirely sure yet but all I know is that the least I can do is let you all know about this unfortunate experience in this club as a black man, especially given these times.

My daughter's phone and her friend's purse went missing after a night there. They followed protocol and went there to look for it. While there, 2 other people were looking for their 'lost' items as well. Seems to be a trend at Theory. I understand things can get lost or stolen after a night out but upon sharing our story with others who have frequented this establishment, it happens more often than not! Staff was not helpful.

Horrid place. Got my phone stolen, my friend also got her phone stolen, and my other friend got her wallet stolen. They were super selective with who they let in. I went back to go look for my phone & the workers weren't too helpful.

First time here in dallas came here on frday july5 around 1030 at night was very dead not much to do. Prices were overpriced even though the place was pretty stupid.
