I recently stayed at Harrington Housing apartments, and unfortunately, I had a terrible experience overall. While the building itself is nice, clean, and well designed, the management team is by far the worst part of living here. The staff was consistently rude, unresponsive, and unhelpful, and sometimes outright crossed the legal boundary.
There were multiple occasions where I needed support, and they failed to assist me. One incident involved a leak in our apartment. Despite the fact that they are legally obligated to provide rehousing in such cases, Harrington Housing refused to do so. It was not until I threatened to sue that they backtracked and offered me a measly discount on my following month's rent. On another occasion, their online payment system for rent went down, preventing me and other residents from paying on time. Instead of acknowledging the issue, we were all hit with late fees. Another time was when Harrington Housing sent us a bunch of "utility fees" even though utilities were included with rent (as described in my lease). Some of these fees were not specific, such as "Building Sewer" and "Building Other" or "Internet." Internet is a fixed monthly fee how would five of us incur additional $45.90 per person for internet??? Upon reaching out to Harrington Housing for clarification, we received no response, and these additional utilities mysteriously disappeared after our complaint. Imagine how many people who didn't pushback on this would pay them on these extra unsubstantiated charges.
Overall, the poor management completely ruined what could have been an enjoyable living experience. I would strongly advise others to avoid Harrington Housing due to their shady practice unless significant changes are made to their management practices.
