Theos Estatorio has an enviable Gateway Area location om Sunrise next to the Gateway Theater. It offers both indoor and outdoor sidewalk patio dining. As the acoustics inside are really bad when crowded....I saw no evidence of any acoustical engineering...I chose to be seated outside. Though outside dining is next to Sunrise Boulevard the traffic wasn't annoying.
Theos Estatorio is a husband and wife team, and they have, along with renowned architect Hugo Mijares, delivered this restaurant as their vision of bringing the Greek Islands to Fort Lauderdale. Indeed, Theos Estatorio is the most authentic of Greek restaurants I know of in the area. As a testament to that, even the olive oil they use at the restaurant comes from Theos family's village in Greece.
When I entered Theos Estatorio I was immediately greeted with a warm welcome and graciously escorted to an outdoor patio seat of my choosing. I started off with a bottle of Greek wine as recommended by my waiter which was most delightful, turning out to be everything he said it would be.
I then ordered their Sardines Portuguese, one of my favorites, simply grilled with lemon and olive oil. These are one of my must-haves when I'm in Lisbon, and I must say the ones I had here were every bit as good as the ones I've had there.
While having the sardines we were served with delicious bread along with two types of dipping oil and hummus.
For my entrée, I went for the lamb chops, a dish for which the Greeks are well known. Here they call it " Paidakia," but it's the same as I've had in Athens, done with herb marination and lemon, sided with potato and tzatziki. And they proved to be delicious while my partner had their pan-seared scallops with a mushroom orzotto, which he found to be delicious.
All in all, my dining experience at Theos Estatorio was very good, and the food totally authentic Greek
