Best restaurants and bars in Telluride | Eater Denver

"Walk by this corner bar on any given night and you’ll be lured in by the seductive lighting, the intimate space, and the promise of good food and drink. Initially folks discovered There while waiting for a table at Siam (the two spots sit cattycorner from one another), but the bar has since come into its own — even spawning a Denver location. Go for small plates and the signature jam cocktails where you pick your spirit and a housemade jam mix-in." - Amanda Faison

Google
Very delicious food. Small plates style. They use tamari and the cucumbers and pear salad were awesome. Several flavor layers and reasonable portion sizes. We also got the duck bao bun on a lettuce wrap and the wagyu skewers. Pricey but not egregious for Telluride. The duck was awesome- can only imagine how good it would be on a bun. Their liquor options were all top shelf. Not complicated cocktails but high end ingredients.

Google
Very surprised how good this spot was . We enjoyed everything we had here. Their food was great and the cocktails were tasty ! The menu might be very small but all the items on the menu were delicious. We even end up ordering some food twice 😋. The servers/bartenders were very friendly . The vibe was great and definitely recommend this local spot . We would definitely come back . Don’t miss this spot when you’re in the area.

Google
Love this funky Telluride restaurant. Innovative and delicious food, drinks and overall vibe. Some of the staff are a little too cool but if you can override the attitudes and see the forest through the trees, overall a worthy experience. Love their cocktails especially.

Google
Very unique and delicious food the bao buns and the paccheri pasta were both brilliant. Drinks and cocktails were amazing too with very friendly bartenders. The whole vibe was 10/10.

Google
Stumbled into There Bar, conveniently 200 feet from where we’re staying - close enough that even I couldn’t get lost. We meant to just have a quick drink, but with the kids safely left at the accommodation, it swiftly turned into a proper date night. The patio was a gem, the service was spot-on, and the drinks were dangerously good ….seriously, whoever’s behind the bar deserves a medal. The food was excellent across the board, with only one dish not quite hitting the mark (let’s just say the shrimp would have benefited from less time on the grill). In short: top-notch spot for food, drinks, and a relaxed evening out. Highly recommended if you find yourself in Telluride - just pace yourself on the cocktails.

Google
I know when it comes to Telluride, it's really hard to go wrong. The food & service industry there has it down. And having lived & worked there for the better part of two years, I know. But There REALLY has things dialed in. Of all the times I've been there for drinks, dinner or apres ski, I have literally never had a bad experience. The drinks are amazing, pretty much everything on the menu. The food is more of a tapas type, smaller portion. But oh, so, delicious. 🤤 The staff really know how to run the place given how busy they get. Again, never a bad experience. Make There a must stop if you're in town.

Amazing gluten free options. Very unique flavors with perfect combinations. Flavored all the way through in every bite.

Google
Unforgettable evening of playful creativity. And yes, their legendary homemade popcorn alone is worth the reservation. From the moment you’re greeted by the warm, lively energy and inventive cocktails, every sensory detail pops—bright, thoughtfully spiced small plates, a buzzy ambiance that hums with local charm, and service that’s as fun as it is attentive. That perfectly crispy, butter‑salt popcorn served in whimsical chopsticks‑style will draw you in with its elegant twist. The bao buns will make you return. If you’re craving a relaxed yet adventurous spot in Telluride, this is it—memorable flavors and genuine hospitality in one dynamic bite.

Yelp
I live in Austin Texas, I was born into the restaurant business. I have never experienced a more delightful restaurant-bar evening. Beginning with reservations, modifications to my reservation. The hospitality at There is exceptional. The food, and beverage, service is excellent. I couldn't be more impressed. Cheers five stars !

Yelp
(This review is from March 9th, 2023 when we visited) Food was very delicious. The portions for the price you pay are $$$ They are going for a fancy vibe in food but the service and ambiance itself don't match the price you pay. Definitely not a place for groups. This is the perfect spot for a date night! Super cute place.

Yelp
There is a must if you visit telluride. I came back after visiting a couple of years ago and it was how I remembered it. It's a super small space so a reservation is a must if you want to secure a table. The favorite of the night were the ribs. They were super flavorful and cooked perfectly. The staff were super friendly and really engaged with all the customers. The only thing I would say is missing is they have no dessert menu.

Yelp
Our third visit (first was right after it opened to much fanfare) to There just wasn't what we'd hoped. And maybe that's on us - maybe we've aged out. Same staff I remember, or nice-enough fellas who looked so much the same as the past ones as to be fungible. The room is the same as always: tiny, tight, mostly a bar with some small tables. There's now an outside patio area, as well. There is cocktail-forward and they're good at those. The food has always been very good (if kinda skimpy for the not-skimpy pricing) in the past but this visit . . . well, nothing on the menu really grabbed us - and so we actually walked away from our dinner reservations after only having a drink each. Very unlike us but - why buy expensive food that doesn't sound good and that you have reason to believe won't fill you up? Another part of the reason, though, was that it was just so bloody loud - I had a 12" mohawk in '84, so I'm okay with hardcore. But blaring . . . and at suppertime? Maybe I should have asked to be seated outside. Or maybe it's just past my bedtime . . . now where's my Metamucil?

Yelp
This place was really good. We went with a party of eight and everyone ordered different things, everything was absolutely delicious, including the drinks which were unique. They also give you popcorn. That is super delicious. We would definitely go back if we're in the area again. Everyone was raving about the brussels sprouts!

Yelp
This place was our favorite to go to in Telluride. Very cozy and casual. Some might say its small but it was perfectly intimate. The servers/bartenders were amazing. Made us tourists feel like locals which was very comforting. Definitely get reservations piror but they are very nice and accommodating if you walk in and if they have space. Drinks were great and had a great time during happy hour. Highly recommended!

Yelp
Stopped in for cocktails and had a spectacular experience. The gentleman that made the drinks was very nice and gave great recommendations. The space was quaint and charming, recommend a reservation if you want dinner. It's very limited seating, but absolutely worth it.

Yelp
We had a great experience. Great tasting food, fun and laid back atmosphere. Small location, so felt a little rushed.

Yelp
I was told by a local that for bar bites you cannot go wrong. I'm glad I listened. This is BEST bar in Telluride. The drinks are impeccable. I loved the steakhouse martini - proper delicious. A super treat was the beef tongue and kimchi lettuce wraps. Fantastic! The skewers were exceptional. The aji sauce was a spicy compliment to the shrimp. The waygu was good (as expected) and the scallops stole the show. Not a five because the service was good but casual. Nothing wrong with being a chef's dream for snacks and cocktails!

Yelp
If you can eat at one place in telluride make it there. The bar drinks were amazing and the food outstanding. Having a disco ball and a shot ski, you wouldn't expect the food to be as good as it was. The wagyu was cooked perfectly and the hand salad was unlike any salad I've ever tried. We were so glad we shared so many different dishes. We made a reservation which I highly recommend and were able to sit early. This is definitely our favorite place in Telluride.

Yelp
Everything was PERFECT until one specific server just gave us our check without asking if we wanted something else. Zero comment went we said everything was great. Very strange! If you want to be welcomed, have great cocktails and food, come here. Just don't except a thank you with your check. :/

Alison M.

Yelp
The staff can improve by treating their guests with respect. I cannot testify for the food and drink because my group didn't even make it that far at this establishment.
google avatar

Yelp
Food and drinks were good, but it's hard to get a table. We spoke with the owner and asked about reservations and he stated come at opening, 4:00, to make sure we can get a table. We can at 4 a couple days later and got a table. No one mentioned anything about reservations or a time limit. We ordered food and drinks. Continued ordering drinks and when we ordered at 4:50, the guy told us that we would have to be finished by 5:15 because they had a reservation. This is something that should have been communicated at the beginning. Of course at 5:14 the guy came up and told us we were done. Downed the last swig and left. Won't go back again.

Yelp
Popped in for a drink; ended up staying for dinner. Amazing drinks and food, even better atmosphere. Played 90s music the night we were there :) it's my fave place in all of Telluride! But it's tiny and always packed so get ressies far in advance

Yelp
There was our ultimate favorite dinner in town! We loved the concept of shareable dishes for the whole group to share. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. The place is fairly small and it is quite difficult to get a reservation at prime time. Everyday the only reservations open were 5pm and 9pm. They only do reservations on Tock. We started with cocktails, trying the Grapefruit, Lychee, Aviation. Each cocktails were delicious! The Lychee martini was my absolute favorite, I liked it so much I had to order it twice! We ordered several dishes for the table to share, every single dish was amazing! The spicy duck buns were among the favorites along with the wagyu steak. We really wanted to try more dishes but we got so full! The food was so great we really wanted to come back the next day but all reservations were taken. The whole experience was great, definitely worth the price! There will be on our list the next time we return to Telluride!

Yelp
I had the best time at There in Telluride. All around such a fun experience from the food to the bartenders to the other diners! The servers were dancing and interacting with everyone and we did 3 or 4 shot skis! They played music from literally every era and everyone in the restaurant was enjoying their food and having a ball. The food was delicious. My favorite was definitely the special, which was venison arancini! The waygu and veggie dish was unreal too. The truffle oil was so rich and tasty. The duck buns were pretty good- the duck was a little dry, but overall I really enjoyed them because the sauce was flavorful and spicy! I didn't get photos of our drinks, but the cocktails were creative, cold, and made very well. I think we got the Diablo and couple others. All delicious! Will definitely be a go to spot whenever I'm in Telluride.

Yelp
Favorite place to eat and hangout! Always a fun time, food is great, drinks are amazing. It's small so getting a reservation a recommended.

Yelp
I am lazy about reviews, but I travel nearly full time for work. Including some occasionally not-terrible places like T-ride. Their food is always great with a seasonal menu, they manage the bar and restaurant very well given the tourist traffic. Managing a small house in an active area is an obvious challenge. Seth behind the bar is a wizard.

Presa H.

Yelp
First time in Telluride and wanted to grab a bite to eat. Luckily the reviews brought me here. The place is small but full of character and has amazing food. We had the Brussel sprouts, wagyu skewers, bao buns with duck, and the lamb lollipops. Everything was delectable and the sauces were creative and delicious. The bartenders were so entertaining and welcoming. Definitely recommend.
google avatar

Dinorah J.

Yelp
The food was incredible and the flavors were amazing! The ambiance is personal and inviting. The space is small but definitely a must try if you can get inside. We will definitely be back for the Wagyu. Amazing!
google avatar

Yelp
If you eat at one place in Telluride, eat here. The Brussels are to die for. The waygu burger and cucumbers and all of it. Kudos to the kitchen!! Also shout out to Aubrey who made our dinner extra special! Cheers from Mellen!
google avatar

Paige M.

Yelp
My husband I stopped here for a drink at the bar this Friday while the tiki bar was still intact & loved it. We both had the diablo. If you like tequila, I highly recommend this cocktail! They were serving complimentary popcorn with coconut aminos & nutritional yeast and it was delish! Both of the bartenders were welcoming, friendly and fun. We could have hung out there all night. The small plates all looked delicious as they were coming out, but we did not eat here. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Ambiance is great food even better! Cocktails are the best! Can't wait to go back- Let go there!!

Yelp
There is my favorite place in Telluride for food, drinks, happy hour, apres -- you name it. I appreciate the intimate environment, the fun cocktails and of course -- the amazing food. I've been to There during the pandemic when they were doing chefs menus only, and that was such a treat to try new things. Their a La Carte menu is great of course too, but I recommend you choose something you wouldn't normally get when ordering. All of it is fabulous. During Happy Hour, you can get get a great deal on waygu sliders (and more of course). I recommend getting reservations way in advance. It's a hot spot (and pretty small so limited seating). WARNING!!! If you ask to do a shotski they WILL ANNOUNCE IT to the whole bar on a megaphone!
google avatar

Cheryl B.

Yelp
We opted for the tasting menu. If you are a foodie and welcome an open pallet choose the tasting menu. But if you are a picky eater choose to order from the menu. Staff is fun as they work hard and enjoy their craft. Reservations are a must and it seems everyone arrives around 5:30 PM
google avatar

Yelp
Reservations or nothing here if it's ski season; it's a small and high demand venue. My wife and I absolutely loved it; the place and the staff are awesome. It's great for talking to other people at the bar with you, there are always entertaining things going on, probably people having way too much to drink which can make for good entertainment. As far as food and beverage goes, they are both great. The beverages in particular are fantastic; a massive cocktail menu with some incredibly unique options. They also feature mezcal in quite a few, which in itself is unusual but greatly appreciated. The food options are all prepared very well, with quite a few of them being vegetarian if that's your thing, but even for us non-vegetarians the dishes still taste wonderful. You'll also find they're significantly less expensive for both food and drink than many of the other local places, such as Cosmo, New Sheridan, etc. Loved it; wish we'd added an extra night here instead of one of our other choices. We did stop back in but there was no availability.

Yelp
Food was okay but the service was terrible. We were so excited to experience this place after walking by a few times and feeling the high energy so we were very disappointed in the service. Started off strong but then completely ignored by Tyler. When he finally came over he told us it was last call for food. Well heck we were there for 30 mins with empty plates waiting on someone to take our Act 2 order. Would not return.

Yelp
Hidden gem in Telluride. Great happy hour, great dinner menu, just don't forget to make a reservation!!

Mary L.

Yelp
Amazing drinks and food! We tried the rice noodles, venison egg rolls, fried chicken and the steak. Definitely recommend getting plenty of items and sharing, the menu is more of a small bites vibe. Service was incredible and super friendly! We will be back!
google avatar

Yelp
Wonderful first night in Telluride! Loved this restaurant, sat at the bar ate popcorn with chopsticks had some incredible cocktails and the food was delicious! So much flavor! The vibe is a casual mountain bar with incredible food and service! We will be back!

Yelp
We went for happy hour and had a very nice time. They give you bags of popcorn We had an old fashioned and a margarita. Both were excellent We ordered the Brussels sprouts that were delicious but way too salty. People next to us loved the cauliflower appetizer and the wagyu burger

K D.

Yelp
Way overpriced with small shareable bites that are a bit hilarious as to how small they are and how expensive for miniscule portions. Had a salad as a main course and it was a very small portion of romaine lettuce with a teaspoon full of yogurt type sauce. Nothing else. No nuts, no veggies etc. Try at least guys. Noise was overwhelming, impossible to converse. Waiter was a bit too cool for school. May be a good place for drinks ( large bar crowd) but not for a real dinner.
google avatar

Delphi L.

Yelp
Worst food in my life. The ragu at $28 had around 10 tiny pieces of pasta and half a bottle of commercialized tomato paste. What taste can you imagine this would be like? Duck buns at $12 were edible, but that's all I can say. The bartender was distant and judged people by their outfits. And you expected a tip of 21%? Looking at all the previous good reviews - people probably did not care so much about food after a few drinks..
google avatar

J Warren R.

Yelp
Organized chaos! The guys running this place operate on the edge, but somehow it all comes together. there is a bit quirky and different, but worth your time and effort for great drinks and food. The inside reminds me of a glorified food truck, with few tables and bar seating, yet they turn out some tasty shareables. The cocktails are the BEST around, creative and with quality fresh ingredients. Good wine list by the glass. Service is not particularly good. We waited over 15 minutes just to order, then the Act 1 Brussel Sprouts came out immediately and we were still waiting for the first cocktail. btw, the bartender is a master--watching him work and make multiple drinks is a work of art. He is really Good. The food is pretty darn good as well. Duck bao buns good. The crab cake was just alright. The grouper tostado exceptional. Reservations required --they turned away several people who tried to walk-in. The vibe is lively and the place is really loud.
google avatar

Eric K.

Yelp
A very interesting menu. The sauce on the duck bao buns made them delicious. The shiitake bao buns were just okay and tasted pretty plain. The deep fried Brussel sprout leaves were amazing! The cauliflower and potatoes were also amazing. I'd highly recommend those for sure!!

Rebecca K.

Yelp
Tiki bar, so was very excited. BUT the Drinks are over priced and not good. Food menu was lack-luster (6-8 items tops). If you have a small menu, make sure to make your options desirable. Ordered the elk dumplings, way too salty. Staff seemed unorganized. Felt chaotic with 4 servers on and not a lot of tables to take care of. Music was so loud inside I could barely hear myself talk. It is definitely a tourist spot.
google avatar

Yelp
Yelp recommendations rock it again!! Looked for great places in Telluride proper and were not disappointed. Awesome cocktails (the tequila red pepper jam drink was great)! Food is great - prawn skewers were insane. Small place and casual, so don't expect tablecloth style. That said, service was great and the bartender / host were awesome. We didn't have a reservation and lucked out. Highly recommend. Make reservations.

Yelp
Me: So where are we meeting for dinner? Friend: Booked a rez through Yelp at there. Me: Ok, but what restaurant? Friend: There. Me: (after Yelping "There"). Sounds great! See you There! When we first walked in, I thought...is this it? Not gonna lie...the space was small but cozy and the vibe was super chill...my kinda place! So one might think a teensy restaurant like this wouldn't serve up some yummy and eclectic food...well let me just say...it's a "shared" experience and their menu was da bomb! We ordered an array of delicious tapas and flavor-packed bites! Started out with some fine wine, a Basil Hayden Old Fashioned (basil hayden bourbon, brown sugar, aromatic bitters and orange zest) and Shishito Peppers...YUM! Followed that up with Shitake Steamed Buns (red wine and butter marinated shitake mushrooms, sautéed in coconut hoisin sauce and a scallion garnish) and the Spicy Duck Steamed Buns (organic duck breast, samba mayo and scallions)...all devoured within minutes! Heck! There's no way we could stop just 'there' so ordered the Avocado Lettuce Wraps (tempura fried avocado, jicama, sweet chili jam and micro greens) and Elk Lettuce Wraps (Colorado Elk, ginger, crispy garlic, white sesame, scallion, yuzu soy and finished with hot sesame oil). Both OUTTA THIS WORLD! While it's a smidge off the beaten town path, I can't believe I've never been here-there-here before! It's def become my fav restaurant! Make a rez peeps and the next time I'm in T-ride I'll see y'all There!

Yelp
We love There. It is a quirky little (really, it is small) place, but perfect for Telluride and if you know the area, it is a no-brainer There is there. :) Reservations are HIGHLY recommended though we have been there when a couple of parties of 2 arrived and were able to be seated without them. The menu is small but good. Prices are high but it is Telluride. We really like the brussels, duck buns, elk buns, and their fun/free popcorn. Their drinks are very good, too. We have enjoyed sitting at a few spots inside, but the bar is fun to watch drinks and maybe strike up a convo. If you go and you are unsure about how you like it...go back again. It will grow on you. Staff are very nice as well.
google avatar

Trish S.

Yelp
So good!! A visit to There Bar is a must for your visit to Telluride. Make a reservation for dinner and order the wagu and greens.
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
This restaurant deserves all the praise it gets!! The shishito peppers were delicious with a combo of sweet and salty. The duck bao buns were outstanding and perfectly cooked. The real star of the show was the mussels! Highly recommend this restaurant!
google avatar

Caroline C.

Yelp
Food was very delicious. The portions for the price you pay are $$$ They are going for a fancy vibe in food but the service and ambiance itself don't match the price you pay. Definitely not a place for groups. This is the perfect spot for a date night! Super cute place.

Yelp
Great happy hour! I loved the old fashioned and the cauliflower. I cannot wait to try the bao buns next time!
google avatar

Jared J.

Yelp
Cozy in a small neighborhood vibes. Drinks are great and food is good. Our bartender was fun and ready to help us. My only complaint is the entrees came out too quickly so you end up with either a full table or shoveling food to clear it
google avatar

Alexa R.

Yelp
I'd give the eclectic, creative menu twenty stars if I could, but the bartender was so rude that it ruined our experience. We had a couple of creative, whimsical cocktails but the bartender and almost every staff we encountered were so unfriendly, it wasn't worth the whimsy. Our local friends warned us, they told us that they've left because of the attitudes, half way through their meals... but I was curious. I made a reservation for dinner, but we stayed for one cocktail. That should tell you something. To the bar staff: Get over yourselves, be nice to your guests. You're making food and cocktails not solving the national health care crisis... (would be great if you would with all of that hot air lol) And P.S., the other guests at the bar that evening thought the exact same thing I'm writing in this review. Why would you want a reputation like that?
google avatar

Spencer H.

Yelp
Food: 4/5 (some dishes are a reach. Specifically, the bao buns were not very good, though most everything else is tasty. I appreciate the menu's variety and willingness to be bold0 Ambiance: 5/5 (though it does get hot. AWESOME interior and vibe) Drinks: 5/5 Service: 5/5 (everyone that works here is super friendly)
google avatar

Philip O.

Yelp
Ambience is maximalist, but the standout was the food: Asian-inspired tapas style selections. Mussels were outstanding among several impressive dishes. Service was attentive without being intrusive.
google avatar

Rene S.

Yelp
We had appetizers and drinks- great place- very busy and you definitely need a reservation- we lucked out w a cancellation for a short window and sat at the bar- staff is friendly and laid back- the apps were great! The drinks were wonderful- I'd definitely one back for dinner if ever in town again.

Yelp
Really innovative menu and personable service. This is a great quant venue in a beautiful town.
