I have never written a negative hotel review before, but I feel obligated to share what was, without a doubt, the most unpleasant and disrespectful experience I’ve ever had when checking into a hotel.
We arrived around 12:00 AM, exhausted from traveling and with our young child. From the moment we approached the front desk, the staff member who attended us treated us with a cold, dismissive…. There was absolutely no empathy, no courtesy, no willingness to assist nothing that one would expect from a professional working in hospitality.
When we asked kindly if she spoke Spanish, she responded abruptly and condescendingly, “No,” and turned away. We then asked if anyone on staff spoke Spanish, and again she said “No” , which turned out to be a lie, as we later noticed several other staff members who did speak Spanish. It felt like she wanted to make things harder for us.
She asked for our ID and credit card without any explanation. I politely asked her to speak slower because I don’t speak fluent English and I was trying my best to understand but she completely ignored my request and kept speaking rapidly and coldly. Not once did she make an effort to assist or make us feel welcomed.
When we finally went to the room, we realized it was not suitable for our child and requested to change rooms, even offering to pay the difference. She refused again, claiming there were no other rooms available, without even checking.
What upset me the most was when I tried to ask her for water for my child. She literally turned her back on me and walked away. When she returned to the lobby, I was standing there waiting, and she completely ignored me again. I tried to address her, but she dismissed me once more, saying she was on the phone. At that point, I became upset and asked what her problem was. Her behavior was unacceptable and far from professional.
Feeling extremely disrespected and unwelcome, we decided to leave. She then made things even more difficult by giving us a hard time about the refund, making up excuses that were simply not true.
This was supposed to be a simple check-in at a hotel we were excited to stay in. Instead, it turned into a humiliating and hurtful experience. No guest, especially one arriving late at night with a child, deserves to be treated this way. This individual is not fit for the front desk or for any position involving customer service.
