I was a member of Third Space for almost two years and, unfortunately, my experience towards the end has been disappointing.
My Founder membership was increased from £190 to £230 per month, but the communication around this was extremely poor. There were no notifications in the app, no signage in the gym, and no visible communication to members. I was told an email had been sent, but I never received it. The first I knew about the increase was when my direct debit had already been changed.
When I contacted the club to explain that I hadn’t received any communication about such a significant price increase, I was simply told that an email had been issued. Despite having the ability to see whether members had opened the email, they refused to refund the £40 increase for the two months while I was disputing it. For a supposedly premium gym, this felt inflexible and not particularly customer-focused.
It’s especially disappointing because the club started out feeling genuinely elite. However, over time the experience has declined. The gym is now extremely overcrowded during peak hours (around 6:30–8:00am and 4–7pm on weekdays), which makes it difficult to enjoy the facilities you’re paying a premium for.
Standards also seem to have slipped in smaller ways - even the protein shakes feel noticeably more 'watered' down than they used to (an employee confirmed that this is because they have quietly reduced the amount of protein and fruit ingredients that they add!).
Overall, what began as a great experience no longer feels worth the price point. I’ve now cancelled my membership and will be looking elsewhere.
