"Dubbed the “newest old bar in Clackamas County,” the Thirsty Duck Saloon opened in 2017 but with a cozy neighborhood bar vibe that makes it feel much older. The long narrow room displays prints of birds on its wall, and there are enough televisions set up to catch the game of your choosing. Order the half-pound beef burger, a brisket and short rib patty that comes with all the fixings, topped with house-made thousand island sauce and Tillamook cheddar, sandwiched between an onion bun." - Michelle DeVona, Janey Wong

A very cozy little bar. Friendly courteous service, fun stories, and lots of regulars. Music on the weekends is nice too. A nice little community watering hole. Duck friendly. *Attention. Floyd has been duck-napped. If found please bring him home. He'sa bit of a troublemaker.*

Google
Great dive bar. Great bartenders, Playlist could use an update, classic bar bangers but I go often enough I've heard it through. You'll enjoy your time no matter the bartender. Artwork for sale, outside spot. Great small bar.

Google
Nicole was the BEST bartender I’ve ever met!! She was fun, caring, professional, and such a kind spirit! She made our night! Thank you, Nicole! Keep being you besties 🩷

First time walking in... show her ID she sais I'm looks annoying because I just get their and seat. Disrespectful , rude... that old bartender show be fire the way she's working. Never come back didn't buy anything I just leave. Nasty

Google
Nicole is the best bartender and she has great taste in music! A+++!

Google
Oregon City’s very own Cheers. Best bartenders around. If you’re lucky enough to stop by on the night Nicole is working I promise you’ll have a good time. Make sure you ask for her famous gluten free vegan burger, it’s the best in town!

Nicole is awesome. Always welcoming when we stop in. Best bartender in Oregon City by far !!

Google
Didn't get any food, but the drinks and service was top notch. Went on a Saturday, and maybe go back on a Friday for Karaoke. Update: Was looking for a 2XL t-shirt, but got a hat instead. Hoping they get more shirts in soon. The logo is neat. Maybe some stickers too. Stuff like that to help get the word out.

Yelp
The food is a lot better than the environment would make you think. I had the sliders and was very pleased by the quality of the food. Beers on tap were great as well. This place usually works as a one-horse show with the bartender also doing the cooking so patience would be great if you're trying to come here hungry (or at least use that to make a judgement call on eating somewhere else) Regardless, the food was good and bartender working was great. The environment was ok but was brought down by the quality of the people at the bar that seemed to be locals who come often, they were worked up and throwing a hissy fit about someone's crying baby outside the bar. This is definitely a dive bar and if nothing else clued you in on that aside from the less than stellar quality of customers, the bathroom would make you very awfully aware of that. I had to clean off my shoes when I got back cuz I could swear the smell of urine followed me back from the bar. I think had it not been for the regulars who were acting like 5 year olds this place would be a nice regular dive experience.

Yelp
Unfortunately, the duck gets a major downgrade. Gone are the tasty burgers that I was so hyped about. They were the best downtown (possibly in OC), only to be replaced by fryer only food. Liquor selection is bottom to mid-shelf, ugh. Staff were pleasant, and the place was clean, but trying to find a place to park at the south end of main for sub-par food and drink offerings is a tough sell.

Yelp
Came here for drinks. Got my usual whiskey ginger with bullet. They are dog friendly so Koa came with us. Pool table in the back and country music played while we were here. Good vibes and service was great.

Justin S.

Yelp
Best Corn Dog Ever!! Make sure to ask for the house made special spicy sauce! Make a wish and rub the ducks belly! It's good luck.

Yelp
What a great little surprise in OC. Wandered in after walking downtown to meet Emily. Awesome service!! Super friendly and attentive. Big drinks served by a big personality. Just what we needed. Get in here and have some fun!!

Christie T.

Yelp
I come here every Sunday and Monday just to see the bartender, Nicole. She always welcomes me with the biggest smile and is very polite. I look forward to seeing her every week.

Yelp
Work across the street and the staff at the duck is awesome. Nicole is an amazing bar tender as well as Emily and Tonya. I don't go anywhere else. The guy that wrote the previous bad review about Nicole isn't completely true.

Cecelia B.

Yelp
The owner... alin gruia (no caps needed), acts like the nicest guy to everyones face then treats his employees like trash. Employees who constantly request things like.... The usual things anyone requires to work in a safe, clean, happy, ect environment. Must say that Stef is The Best! And all the people there are amazing!!!!!

Yelp
Do not go here if you're looking for a meal first and a bar second. If you're looking for a drink, great! It's chill, there's a pool table, and if mediocre live music is your jam, you'll enjoy that too. Expect slow service on those drinks though because your bartender is also cooking the food. Quite the line built up as she made our food. Disclaimer: I do not fault the bartender. They were sweet and kept their cool all while balancing making drinks, bussing the bar/tables, and making food. I fault the owners. Who in their right mind could expect someone to balance all those things on their own on a busy Saturday night and produce any food of quality. The food was just not good and that's all I'll say about that. If you want details, trust the other low rated reviews. What made the food taste even worse was the guilt that built up after watching the bartender juggle all these things on their own. It just wasn't ethical. We found this out after ordering, felt so bad as we watched, and deeply regretted it even before getting our food. I bartend, my partner is a chef. We both wanted to help out so badly. If you plan on eating here, maybe plan for a week night and ask if they are the only person working. Or just be so drunk you don't notice how messed up the situation is because that's probably the only chance you'll have of enjoying the experience. P.S. I rarely write reviews. I usually let bad food slide but this experience as a whole had to be brought to the owners attention. If you don't have enough staff to cover one person on the bar and one person making food, you should 86 food for the night. Or perhaps be there yourself to help.

Yelp
Great little spot. Low key but good people all around. Random words because this app is forcing me to write more words.

Yelp
This is becoming one of my favorite places to go. First of all it is welcoming and comfortable. You don't need to put on airs to come here, just come as you are. The waitresses are stellar! The chicken wings are my favorite. Karaoke night was fun and we have never had a bad experience!

Yelp
Okay, so Thirsty Duck is not the Four Seasons, we've pretty much nailed that down. However, as taverns go Thirsty Duck is pretty freaking solid. After switching over from the 505 Tavern with fresh owners a bit of lip gloss was put on the old girl and she's looking spruced up. They still have a pool table in back and the long bar with cozy seats. They do karaoke on Friday nights, have happy hour and some good eats. We had a burger and chicken strips. It's not fancy food but it was good, really good for what it was. Prices are okay, they run a bit higher on the eats but the eats are solid. If you find Stephanie working (she's on nights) lucky you. It's not just that she's super friendly with tons of energy, it's that she is a highly competent bartender. She works quickly and with excellect accuracy. She'll make sure you have a great (and safe) night. Have fun!

Yelp
Went here on a Wednesday night after having eaten dinner at La Famiglia restaurant down the street. Alan provided us with excellent customer service. My girlfriend had a Lemon Drop, and I had an IPA. We also had a basket of fries. All were decent. Ambience is classic pub/bar/saloon. There are about a dozen bar stools and about eight tables, so it is not a large place. Televisions were on but muted in favor of background music. There is one pool table and a couple of electronic dart board games. Bathrooms were clean. Street parking only.

Alysia M.

Yelp
Burger is way overhyped and over priced. Bartender cooked and prepped everything. Generic frozen tater tots from a bag, frozen hamburger patties. I'd eat somewhere else. Service was not great either.

Kelly S.

Yelp
Ok, here is what I like about this place. 1. Good friggin drinks! 2. Lowkey, yet, really no! You know what I mean, right? Trendy, yet an undiscovered gem. 3. Good music..Come on, Music is what makes the world go round! 4. A little bit of everything for everyone. Darts, pool, video poker, music, dancing, and hanging with friends. Food too!!! CHEERS PEOPLE!

Yelp
The Thirsty Duck established 1894 is a really quaint and cute bar to visit. The owner is Alin. He wears many hats including being the cook. The Thirsty Duck has a lot to offer the community. Karaoke on Friday nights, Saturday is live music and every is art night at 6 pm for 2-3 hours, kids are allowed on those nights. They have Darts, pool, foosball table, an ATM and a music machine to play all your favorites. The food and Drinks are delicious and the service was superb. Get a juicy burger, sooo good. Come check out The Thirsty Duck soon! The address is 505 Main Street Oregon City Oregon.

Yelp
Decided to give Thirsty Duck a try while my Dad and step-mom were out on a date. Didn't feel like cooking. The ambiance is alright, the food is great but there were people smoking outside the door so it smells like cigarettes now.

Marcus S.

Yelp
Awesome food, drink, entertainment and vibe. LOVE this place! THE BURGER is amazing. Try the Duck Juice.

Cindy B.

Yelp
Let me start by saying, my boyfriend and I just moved to town for his work. Amidst covid, it's been weird to feel at home in a new place. Thirsty duck has really changed that for me. A dimly lit bar with some gaming machines and darts...I feel right at home. This place is going to be our regular spot. Our local watering hole. The staff is super attentive and friendly. So far we've been taken care of by Steph and I believe Alan...who are both fantastic! The other patrons that we have met are all so nice. It's just the kind of place when you walk in, you know the folks are good people. As the old saying goes, your vibe attracts your tribe. They do offer some food which we have not tried yet, but I'm sure we will at some point. The drinks are reasonably priced and most importantly, you feel welcomed. Definitely our favorite new place! Thanks you guys!

Yelp
I've been trying to find a good place to have a top notch burger and rings with my beer Thirsty Duck is another old school oasis in Oregon City. Very good handmade burger and rings, tasty IPA not much of a wait, my under 21 kid could join me. The streaming music selection was perfect. Top accolades and worth a review.

Yelp
We had the pleasure of enjoying this "new to us" place tonight. Complete with two dandy Yorkies! (Too bad we left our home!) The food was good, the atmosphere was better. We could actually talk to one another while smooth jazz played in the background. Nice. Friends meet here, exchange laughs and good times while the waiter/bartender/cook/waiter takes care of his business. He can cook with his limited menu, quite well thank you. He seems to be soft spoken, asks you for patience while he does it all in orderly fashion and is a "for real" dog lover, a quality person. I like supporting this kind of small business, don't you? We'll be back, count on it, with friends, and maybe our Yorkie. ;)

J S.

Yelp
Good bar setup. Nice old bar look the lots of options. Food is limited but typical bar grub. They have lottery in the back. One dart board. One pool table. A few tv's but don't expect to hear them when watching sports. Not a sports bar. Full bar and some cheap cans of beers also available.

Darci R.

Yelp
I have went in there two times now. Waited 15 minutes and received no service. Only 8 people in there and the bartender/server walked past us several times and didn't even acknowledge us. Walked out both times. Never going back.

Rachael R.

Yelp
We really like this place, but why is there only one person working there on a busy Saturday night? The same person bartends and cooks, which means everyone has to wait for everything. We will go back because we like the drinks and food (burgers are really good!) and vibe, but come on, get 2 people in there on the weekend evenings!

Anne B.

Yelp
This place has killer burgers! The onion rings and fries were delicious as well. The only thing I might suggest is adding a few more items to the menu, but if you're looking for the best burger in OC...look no further!

Molly L.

Yelp
Worst service ever! Walked up to the bar, sat down and proceeded to be completely ignored. At least 3 patrons came in after us and were immediately served. Finally we got up and left. I will never go back or suggest anyone try it as well.

Katie P.

Yelp
Excellent service, good conversation, and nice taps, with TWO ciders. Yay! There's some fun liquors that are good to try, ask the proprietor. Enjoy!

Yelp
We tried this place out because of all the 5 star ratings. Just wanted a quick bite and a drink while we had time to kill in OC on a Friday night. We snagged a GREAT close parking space right across the street which should have been our first clue. No parking anywhere, ever, on a Friday night in Oregon City on Main St and yet this place has lots of spaces... Food was okay, drinks were okay, but here is the deal: I saw two employees all night. These two were manning the bar, waiting tables AND cooking the food for the limited menu. TWO!! There had to be at least 30 patrons there that night. It is somehow "understood" that this is how this place is run. With two ladies we were amazed at what they accomplished, yet not ideal from a customer standpoint. First drink right away. 10 min later, Menu. 25 min later, second drink and order taken. 35 min later food arrives. Order correct, it's not terrible... It was Karaoke night and people were having fun. It was a good atmosphere overall. Very limited menu but reasonably priced and food okay. Not FIVE STARS but not horrible.. HOWEVER, two people working entire place.. TWO!! They were nice, energetic and did well given the circumstances. I felt sorry for them, left her $10 tip on a $37 bill. Will never go back. Food is NOT five stars, service is A+ for effort but pathetically understaffed. SO NOT fair to the staff. Why would you run a restaurant this way?? So much for the Thirsty Duck. Had always wanted to try it because of the 5 star reviews. Will not be back, but if you are into a fun atmosphere, karaoke, and waiting a long time for stuff, welcome home. PS. I AM SORRY I didn't get to try the Hot Buttered rum. It looked delicious, honestly. However, they were getting busier, and that drink would have been another 30 min probably. I just could not do that to her. We felt like a burden as it was. Having no staff and seeing the only two staff run their a$#es off is unpleasant. We would have stayed longer, ordered more but felt too guilty for making her do more work, honestly! It's a decent place but they need more staff!!

Melissa M.

Yelp
Ashley is an excellent bartender thx 4 the good vibes n delicious burgers doll!!! Lots of room for dancing and jammin

Megan N.

Yelp
Burgers are delicious, drinks are yummy and cheap, service is amazing! The owner seems to be a great guy :)

Jennifer N.

Yelp
Great bar! Stopped in for a drink and food before the movies. Absolutely loved the atmosphere! Split the burger and onion rings with the hubby. One of the best burgers around! The onion rings ROCKED! Drinks were nice and strong! We will be back!

Jared B.

Yelp
This Place is awesome!! The owner Luke is really nice. Cool vibe lots of awesome art and who doesn't love slot machines. Will definitely be coming back. Also dog friendly which is great.

Leonard R.

Yelp
I ordered a burger one night, expecting a hockey puck, this being kind of a funky place. In fact, it was a fantastic burger, one of the best around. Friendly customers (just what you would expect in OC) and really nice bartenders. Friendly owner too. The only problem is they don't have oranges so I can't get an Old Fashioned. The go to place on Main St for delicious burgers and drinks.

Kelly J.

Yelp
The service was terrible and it wasn't even busy. The live music was great! Will not be back.

Wendy H.

Yelp
Drove by this place countless times commuting over the last year and never stopped. Finally gave it a whirl with my hubby today. The menu is basic but decent pub food-beef, turkey burgers, chickens strips etc. I don't know if it's because they cook it when you order it or what-but the food is delicious! Very reasonable prices too. Drinks-cocktails-very strong for the price and I even had their special shot-the Duck Juice-which consisted of pineapple and mango juices with bananna and vodka liquor-somewhat sweet but went down easy-and only $3. If you are looking for a great place to hangout THIS is the place for you. No huge crowds but a laid back atmosphere with strong drinks and good company-sometimes hard to find in the Old O.C. The burgers are the bomb and check them out on Mondays when burgers are only $7.

S N.

Yelp
Loved the atmosphere here and it was all the waitress. She was very professional, caring and knowledgeable. Sorry, didn't get her name but she was awesome. We had turkey burgers and they were very tasty. The beer was great and we were there during happy hour so you can't beat the price either.

T V.

Yelp
Super impressed. Everything was cooked to perfection. I had a turkey burger with onion rings and both were as good as it gets. Friendly service. Chill vibe. Music wasn't blaring so we could actually talk.. What a great addition to downtown Oregon City.
