Austin Brewery Thirsty Planet Closes On South Congress | Eater Austin

"A far-south Austin brewery that operated at 8201 South Congress Avenue after being founded in 2010 and opening a taproom in April 2023. It also served as a production and distribution hub for several local beverage brands and housed tenant businesses on-site. The operation abruptly ceased in August amid an alleged landlord dispute that left the building locked and access denied; the closure was confirmed publicly in mid-August and the online listing was marked permanently closed. The sudden shutdown disrupted partner production runs, tenant businesses, and on-site food service." - Nadia Chaudhury

Texas Brewery Thirsty Planet Makes Vibrant Purple Beer Cosmic Butterfly - Eater Austin

"Purple BeerThirsty Planet Brewing Company is whipping up a purple beer, the Cosmic Butterfly. The Berliner Weisse-style kettle sour is made with blue butterfly pea flowers, which give the beer its bright purple color. It will be available in bottles. The brewery had launched the beer last spring as Special Brewskis, though only in a small batch." - Nadia Chaudhury

The new Thirsty Planet taproom is great! They have a great selection of beers on draft, and ample indoor and outdoor seating, as well as plenty of parking. They had 2 food trucks - one was empanadas and the other BBQ - and both were delicious. Definitely will come back!

Very new brewery in a large space. Plenty of indoor a/c seating and covered outdoor area (on concrete). Super friendly and knowledgeable staff. Three pilsners on tap are interesting.

Thirsty Planet finally opened their tap room! Yay! They had some big purchases and a pandemic that slowed things down, but I can say this is a great tasting room. It has seating in and outdoors. They'll be expanding the inside part down the road and a food truck is coming real soon

The real brewery with no kids. Very chill and excelent place to chill with friends or spouse. They have a menu, but it's from a food Truck outside.

So disappointed in the "kettle sour" I decided to try by Thirsty Planet. So many OTHER Brewers are making GOOD sours, why even try Thirsty Plant?! You don't have to jump on it just cuz it's a trend. And the sickly blueish purple color of the beer? WTF. Just stick to making Thirsty Goat, which is good. Don't over-extend yourself. But you got MY ten dollars, I guess you win. I got fooled by the attractive packaging. The stuff inside the bottle wasn't worth a dime.

One of my best brewery experiences in Austin! The staff are super friendly and the place is kept very clean. They also participate in Barks for Beers. I would definitely come back again.

One of my favorite breweries in Austin! Great beer and I really like the size of this specific brewery...not too big...not too small!

I REALLY like this place. It's not your average brewery. They have a nice indoor (air conditioned) are with plenty of room to sit. The tours are really informative and they are happy to answer any of your questions. The back area is also nice if you want to enjoy the outdoors and nice weather. The beer is delicious and I will definitely go back (again, and again and again...)
