We were staying in a rental above the brewery, which is why we picked this rental. We love local and walkable areas. We killed time here before check in, we sat at the bar and ordered the pizza of the week and a flight of beers. Pizza was just enough to share and was yummy. They also have wine for the folks that don't like beer. It's very spacious and they also have outdoor seating. There is a social district in front on Market Street that has other places that serve beer and cocktails. We really like the vibe of this place and James was the best! He gave us so many good recommendations on things to do while in the area. It gets busy during peak times, but it seemed to flow well. There is a parking lot next door and lots of free parking near by. Go visit the alley mural that's next door. We would love to come back.

What a great gem! The food was great! Even though I am not a big fan of beer, Thirsty Souls has a long list of options to choose from and the rest of the people in my group enjoyed the different selections. I was only able to grab a pic of one side of the wall. Seamed to be a very popular place with lots of lively conversations! Didn’t say the food was great? Well, the Artisan Pizza is amazing!

Passing through NC and stopped for a bite. Food was 10/10, atmosphere was nice and comfortable and it has a cool feel to it. Definitely recommend for a day/night out with friends or partners. Service was fast and our bartender was friendly. We tried the pep and the bbq pizza 😋🍕🍕

Google
The beer is fine, the pizza is actually good. But the service is horrible!!!! The oversized bartender / manager gives you no smile, no warm sense of welcome and does nothing to assist you whatsoever. My buzzer for the pizza was broken so I waited for a very, very long time. Then she came and said 'We keep on buzzing you!!!' with an angry face. I then said the buzzer never rang and I actually needed a box as it was a take-out. She grabbed their broken buzzer, went back inside and left the pizza in a box standing on the bar counter waiting for me to pick it up!!! Horrible person, horrible service. Never go. Grob a beer by the craft bar opposite as the person was nice and helpful!

We visited here often as we were staying in the VRBO above the brewery. My favorite beer was the Pilsner. We also did a flight. We got the pizza of the month with broccoli and bacon. James and Heather were friendly bartenders. We love the location. Definitely worth a visit! You get treated like family.

Google
This is a hidden gem. Nestled on a side street out of the hustle and bustle of Main Street in Mt Airy, NC. This is a great place to come and enjoy some great beer or wine. Couple that with some of the best pizza I’ve eaten in a long time. The beer and wine selections are plentiful. There is a great area outside to sit with friends and enjoy the company. Staff was very helpful and friendly. There are also couches and comfortable seating areas inside, if that’s more your style. Prices are reasonable and fair for the quality you’re receiving. I would strongly recommend this to anyone.

Google
On our weekend to explore Mount Airy, Mrs. K. requested "fish" and it's my job to find a way to make that happen. So I did the searching and found that Thirsty Souls has a pizza with smoked salmon on it. That qualifies. Parking on the street, we had a choice of tables in the pub. I ordered drinks and pizza. Ten minutes later (and half my beer gone) the buzzer did its thing and we're tearing into "The Thirsty Fish" with smoked salmon, onions and goat cheese. A lovely and comfy spot with pizza and other bar food, some tasty brews (the Czech It Out is a lovely pilsner) and the sort of peaceable vibe where you can relax. Five stars.

Google
A really nice place to hang out with good beers and pizza. They have a pretty good variety of beers, I would recommend getting a flight to try a couple of them. They have a Honey Ale that tastes almost like mead which I really enjoyed. The pizza was also pretty good, with plenty of vegetarian options as well. You could probably share one pizza between two people. Definitely a great brewery and I look forward to visiting again!

Yelp
Great little bar off Main St, Mount Airy. Hand crafted beer with a friendly, knowledgeable staff. Food is reasonably priced and very good. A little loud inside, but the patio outside was very pleasant. Will be returning soon.

Yelp
Another great evening at Thirsty Souls. Excellent beer. They also have a good wine selection. Pizza was fresh and delicious. Friendly bartenders. Open space for different seating options. Great visit and worth a stop.

Yelp
The perfect Friday night spot! We stopped in ordered our flight of beer then sat outside until we ordered our pizza. This night it took about 30-45m for the pizzas to come out so be mindful when ordered. Also the pizzas are thin (in a good way) I'm pretty sure we could've eaten two! The beer was great, we got 2 flights just to try a variety. A lemon/lavender cider was on special and was so good! The staff was super nice. The vibe is super casual. Family friendly, especially the outside area there's so much to do! I absolutely loved spending our evening here.

Yelp
This is really more like a 4.5 rating but I rounded up. I can only speak about the 2 times we've been in but they do seem to be understaffed by about one person each time we come. It doesn't seem to greatly impact their ability to serve food on time though, so thats good. Both times, there have been a lot of dishes piled on the bar. Seems like maybe they need someone to bus tables, clear plates, run food... ANYWAYS.. I love this pizza because it's light and flavorful and not overly cheesy. We were also happy with everything else we've gotten. The price is very competitive which is more and more important to patrons in the changing economic climate. We had beers, a pizza and everything you see pictured for around $50.

Yelp
Beer was NOT drinkable. We can't rate the food really because after over 45 minutes we asked for our money back because it still wasn't ready. The kicker was we didn't order anything that required COOKING!!!

Yelp
Had a great time at Thirsty Souls. The pizza was delicious & the service was awesome.

Yelp
This was a wonderful place to wile away a Friday early evening. My friend and I had a flight each and especially enjoyed the Passion Guava Gose. We shared the roasted cauliflower (this should be offered on a pizza! So good!) and a Quattro Stagioni pizza. Nice vibe and friendly staff. It was a perfect Friday place for our little getaway to Mt. Airy.
google avatar

James G.

Yelp
Stopped by on a Friday night for beers and dinner. Place was pretty busy and staff were not prepared for the number of patrons from what I gathered. It took an exorbitant amount of time waiting in line to order. Sadly, the bartenders made zero effort to acknowledge our presence while standing directly in front of them waiting patiently. Just poor customer service, ya know? The pizza was just okay. The beers were good. I really liked the fake news re-Porter and the mango IPA. I would rate it higher but the customer service was a real detractor. We also got moved out of our table when the lone musician arrived. Thirsty Souls should have a dedicated space for their entertainers that doesn't impede on their seating. Come on yall.

Yelp
Funky little spot in the social district of downtown Mt Airy. This place had really chill vibes. Tonight we came for a bite and some beers. My husband had the Arsways Irish Ale, it was a good amber; he said a lime would have really made it. I tried the Naughty Lavender Hibiscus. I am a lavender freak and I really did enjoy this brew! Not too sweet and a tartness I actually liked. For the bites, our pizzas we ordered were The Cheese, The Meat, and The Thirsty Fish. These were all pretty tasty. They had a very thin crust. My favorite was The Thirsty Fish; smoked salmon, olive oil, capers, onions, and goat cheese. My only complaints about the food is that it wasn't as hot as I would have liked it. They were busy, so I chalked it up to that. The taste was there, though! AND I really wanted to try their Roasted Cauliflower, but they were out tonight! Service was good and their grade was a 97.5. The music tonight was on point with my liking, and I wish I had asked about their playlist. A mix from the late 90's and early 2000's. We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Linda G.

Yelp
The pizza was delicious! We had The Meat and The Barb. We loved the thin crust! Great stop on our Passport tour.
google avatar

Matthew S.

Yelp
The pizza was good but it took us almost an hour to get. I overheard that they were down to only one pizza oven so that might be the reason. We sat outside and enjoyed the nice weather. I got an Irish Ale and it was ok, but nothing to write home about.
google avatar

Brooke M.

Yelp
Food was terrific! Pizza was flavorful and very thin. The salads were top notch, filled with fresh ingredients. My 11 year old loved the roasted cauliflower. It too had impeccable flavors. My husband and I each did a flight and the beers were tasty. I loved the Stoned Berries and Kolsch.
google avatar

Leila R.

Yelp
Absolutely loved finding this place after hiking in Stinr Mtn State Park! The master brewer and owners are from Slovakia and offer small batch euro-style beers and curated wine selections (aamof the logo is of the owner carrying beers & wine casks up the countryside in their home country!) in a very hip, open, clean, but inviting space. The beers, like the amazing flightboards they serve their flights on, are carefully crafted, unique, and the quality is evident. Great location in downtown Mt Airy. Definitely worth a detour from any trail you're trekking! Beers had: South of the Wall Vienna Lager 5% Cryptic Kolsch 4.6% Double A DIPA 7.7% Russian Imperial Collusion Stout 10%
google avatar

Yelp
Thirsty Souls has such a cute vibe in downtown Mt Airy. Large open space with plenty of seating and lots of drink selections! Many beers to choose from in addition to wine and cocktail spritzers. For food they had lots of bar snacks including pretzels, charcuterie, garlic bread, chips and hummus etc. The charcuterie board had lots of variety and the pretzels were great too. Unfortunately our pizzas were a bit more challenging. After about 45 minutes we went to check on our pizzas and they never put them in. We did get to try our friends and hers was delicious but we were bummed 2/3 of us didn't get our orders
google avatar

Yelp
Great beer and pizza! Wonderful outdoor patio! Dog friendly and the bartender was so sweet to our Golden(gave him treats)! We will definitely be back and recommend this place to everyone!
google avatar

Antwon C.

Yelp
Decided to check out this place for lunch. They have a great selection of beers so did a flight to try a few. For food had one of their pizzas it was good perfect meat to bread ratio. Definitely recommend stopping by for a drink or quick bite to eat.

Yelp
Nestled on the back streets away from the main strip in downtown Mt Airy, this is the perfect little hidden gem to pop into when spending the day strolling around eating and shopping. A friend and I visited a couple of weeks ago and enjoyed a nice Gose beer on tap as well as their pizza special of the week - pulled pork, bbq sauce, jalapeños, and red onions. Everything was absolutely delicious and the pizza was the perfect size for one person. The atmosphere was amazing and we had a great time lounging on one of their couches eating and talking. The only setback during our visit was how abrasive the bar tender was. I asked what ciders they had and his quipped response is "we don't". I must have looked taken aback because he then said "sorry, I just have a really blunt personality." This is fine, I just wish he could have been a bit more friendly and helpful as it was our first visit. This won't deter us from being back, everything else was top notch and now a staple of our visits to Mt Airy!

Greg M.

Yelp
Pizza and salad excellent. Service was adequate. Self service if you want water (small cup other side of restaurant). No ice available for drinks ie tea, sodas etc kind of annoying (European vibe). Kaereoke night. . So so singers loud and drunk of course.

Yelp
My boo (lol) and I were going in search of a local place to have dinner in Mount Airy while on our sojourn to the mountains from the Triangle this weekend. In a quiet corner of downtown, Thirsty Souls had stellar reviews for its pizza and beer, so we elected to drive down from our cabin to check it out, AND... It did not disappoint! Inside was both cozy and upscale/trendy. The bartenders were friendly, and our food came out fast. We were very pleasantly surprised with how good the handmade pizza tasted (M even thought the crust was soft and doughy, and he is partial to NY style). The Hungry Soul was sweet and spicy with the pepperoncini. Their sour gose beer was my favorite (sweet and tangy, you would enjoy if you aren't a "beer person"), and M loved the hazy ipa (very very hoppy). Would highly recommend this stop to locals, visitors, and travelers alike!!!

Yelp
Local spot that I would return to in the future when I'm back that way. Service was very good and their pizza was very tasty!

Yelp
The food was phenomenal! It's a tiny place and we just didn't expect the food to be as good as it was! The pear salad was just perfect and one I will try to replicate at home, but won't be successful. The pizza was cooked perfectly and full of toppings. We shared these and it was plenty for each of us. The beer though .... it just wasn't our taste. The Mexican Lager was the best of the flight I had, but the others were really lacking taste in that they were just bland. That said, we do come from an area with so many good breweries that we have very high expectations. We loved the atmosphere and the people working there were very friendly.
google avatar

Talia B.

Yelp
Highly recommend! This place is amazing! We had the beers, pizza and salad! We are visiting from Wilmington where there'a a ton of breweries and this one is now at the top of our list! If you wanna taste test the beers you can get a flight of 4! We got the whatever TF and the goat pizza! *chefs kiss* so yummy! The Greek salad is also great especially the onion vinaigrette! The people who own it also own the two air b n b spaces up top which we stayed in and are so great! Modern minimalist chic I would say! Overall great experience & super cool merch!

Yelp
Visited this awesome spot on a Saturday afternoon and had no problem grabbing a table for some drinks and bites. We got the pretzel bites, margarita pizza and goat pizza - everything was great! The service was super friendly and they have a great variety of beer and wine. Would highly recommend for a casual bite and drinks!

Mandy C.

Yelp
Great beer and pizza! We loved the vibe of that whole little area! I wish they had a few more darker beers when we went but we went in July so I do understand.
google avatar

Yelp
Such a fun, open atmosphere! The food and beer was delicious... pizza with goat cheese was amazing! The server was friendly and even though they were close to closing..they never made us feel rushed. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Okay... fair warning this is a really mixed bag here. We stopped in around 2:00 on a Saturday fiercely hungry after a distillery tour and tasting at Mayberry Spirits. I knew the pizza was going to hit the spot. We wanted to order some snacks as well. The lady taking our orders was not very friendly, and we'd come to find out, not very efficient either. I paced my order for the pub pretzels, shishito peppers, and a meat pizza. The pizzas are fairly small (albeit affordable) and so it's best to get multiple or get one plus some snacks if you're sharing. The pub pretzels were really good! I liked the mustard dip, but I think they could've done more with the presentation. It was just dolloped on the plate - I would've preferred maybe a bowl, and maybe have a beer cheese option! The taste was great though. The shishito peppers, I had almost identical thoughts. They served it with Gouda cheese which was tasty, but the slices were kind of messy and it just wasn't really cohesive with the peppers. I think some kind of sauce with the peppers would've been a great choice! The charcuterie was okay, but again, I didn't love the presentation. Also swap the Ritz for some artisan crackers! On to the pizza! There was 5 of us, and we had ordered 3 pizzas. The other 2 pizzas in my group that my friends had ordered never came. One of my friends simply got a refund as we'd been there for quite some time. My other friends asked for theirs to go, but we ended up smashing it at the table because we were still hungry. The pizza they boxed up for them wasn't the pizza they ordered.... They had ordered a bbq pork pizza with jalapeños and we got a bbq chicken pizza. It was fine - it was still good and we were still pretty hungry. I honestly think it was a fluke and the person taking orders just didn't put their order in. I think that they handled our issues fairly well, and did right by us as far as correcting it goes. I would definitely come back and give it another shot because the pizza we had was REALLY good. I like that they had some cider options and seltzers too. Convenient downtown location and plenty of parking nearby.
google avatar

Laurie I.

Yelp
This was a nice little place for a tasting. Wish we could have gotten more wheats but it was still good. It was part of our wine tour. They let the dogs in and that was helpful because of the rain We will stop in again soon
google avatar

Lindsay B.

Yelp
We stopped by Thirsty Souls one Sunday afternoon for a quick lunch and I'm really glad we did! They have a Belgian Blonde on draft which is right up my alley and overall they had a pretty decent beer selection. Beware - the pizzas are TINY so you will definitely need to order more than one if you're with someone else. We ordered the house salad which was really good with avocado and goat cheese, YUM! They have a special featured "pizza of the week" which of course, we had to try! This week, they featured a spicy chicken pizza with bacon, blue cheese, and siracha and I'm telling you, it was SO good. I could have eaten 2 or 3 of them haha. We weren't impressed with the margherita pizza because I just felt like it needed more flavor. There were 3 tiny slices of tomato and just a couple shreds of basil. I would have loved more tomatoes and basil or even some pesto to amp up the flavor a bit! Overall, this is a great spot on a cute quiet side street of downtown Mount Airy.

Yelp
Stopped in on a whim while in Mount Airy for the "Friendsgiving on Market Street" event. The good: The beer was great and the owners came in with some guest and started working to help clean tables and and a logjam in the kitchen. The bad: The locals just pass you in line to get beer. We ordered pizza and beer. Were told the pizza would be about an hour. No problem we understand and had no problem. About an hour passed and the friend that was with us got his pizza. Another 30 minutes past and my wife and I hadn't got our pizza. I walked to the bar and they hadn't even put it in the oven yet!!!! They made it once I expressed my frustration but I wasn't pleased. We watched multiple people that came in after us get their pizza and food.

Yelp
Thirsty souls is super awesome! My family and I love to drive up to thirsty souls community brewing to play cards, drink beers, and eat good pizza. When we go we order the Thirsty Fish pizza which has smoked salmon, olive oil, capers, onions, and goat cheese. This is hands down one of my top 5 favorite pizzas I have ever had in North Carolina. They also have really good beers on tap. The ambiance is great and the crowd is fun as well! Sometimes they will have old cars parked inside the brewery and that is always super cool to see. If you are ever in Mount Airy you should definitely stop here and eat you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The Pizza is soo good and the atmosphere is even better! Such a fun little place! We love bringing our out of town visitors here.
google avatar

Sarah C.

Yelp
Everything was delicious. We tried roasted Cauliflower(my favorite), Quattro fromagio and margarita pizzas. You can't go wrong. We also tried a flight of beer and several wines. They were all delicious. I wish we didn't live over an hour away, it would be a regular spot. Can't think of anything I would change, the atmosphere was amazing and service was wonderful!

Cindy B.

Yelp
Great food. Really nice and quick service. Tasty GF pizza with homemade sauce and tasty mix of cheese. My husband's burger was also good. We shared the homemade BBQ chips and they were really tasty. The waiter recommended the pumpkin cider and it was so good.
google avatar

Brad H.

Yelp
This is a cool place. Open, airy, modern. It fits in the mold of many new micro breweries. Great place. The beer selection was just fine. They have some excellent pizza. What's not to like? A nice refreshing open place to enjoy craft beer and artisan pizza.
google avatar

Neal B.

Yelp
Beer and snacks were awesome. Great service We came back both Friday and Saturday Must do when inMount Airy

Yelp
We ended up eating at Thirsty Souls due to Covid shutting about every restaurant down in the little sleepy awesome town. Everyone must have had the same idea, because it was slammed. Pretty happy we stopped, I ordered the bbq chicken pizza and could not be happier. It was the perfect size for one person. Piled with lots of chicken and melted cheese. Really, really good and a pleasant surprise. My wife ordered a salad and it was medium in size, everything was fresh and tasty. We were a little bummed as one of the IPA taps was out and we were served an extremely small portion of ranch before they ran out. I think we tried the VIdalia Creamy Onion, it was actually awesome. I watch the gal pour both sauces out of a bottle and tried to see what the brand was, excellent salad dressing for not being home made.

Yelp
Mount Airy is a great little community for weekend exploring. I came here after hiking at Pilot Mountain, commute was very reasonable. There is a free parking lot down the street with plenty of spaces. Thirsty Souls is located in the strip across from boutique shops and other oddities. They were so awesome to us with our dog, there is an outside area and an inside area. Outside for dogs. When you walk in it smells like yeast cause they are brewing the beer. I and everyone else there seemed to get the pizza- you couldn't order wrong, so delicious. I had the seltzer and you get to chose what flavor the bartender puts in- wild cherry for me which was excellent. Prices are very reasonable. There was a sink inside each of the men's/women's bathrooms. They are single occupancy. Also a sink outside. There were regular chairs, high tops and couches. Great vibes.

Yelp
This place was amazing - pizza was great and staff was very friendly and helpful!! We ordered several pizzas - The Pep, Hungry Soul, and WTF. They were all delicious!! The cheese was amazing - everything was paired well together.

Nancy D.

Yelp
Fun, welcoming atmosphere- I've sat at the bar alone waiting for others in my party or in a large group at the outside seating- always enjoy the spirit of this place. Nice variety of brews, great wine selections too for a brewery! And the pizza is epic!
google avatar

Noelle A.

Yelp
Best pizza in town! This is a family owned business and they all work there. It's a friendly and fun environment, and your pup is welcome too.
google avatar

Jude H.

Yelp
The best dinner sized pizzas, great salads & tasty beers. My husband said the dinner pizzas were as good as they were in Naples, Italy. Their salads were very tasty, too. And we'll be back!
google avatar

Sheila B.

Yelp
Great selection of beverages with a laid back atmosphere. Friendly staff and very clean. Enjoyed some beverages and good conversation.
google avatar

Michael C.

Yelp
Nice place, a-hole customers. The staff were great for wearing masks, but I didn't see a single patron wear one at any stage of the purchase process. The beer was well done, but until they enforce preventing other patrons from actively trying to kill me and my family I can't go back. When this is all over you can bet I will remember the businesses that took the pandemic seriously. It will be a cold day in hell before I set foot in there again.
google avatar

Abby L.

Yelp
This is a beautiful brewery! It looks brand new and has a great feel about it. I love the décor and the atmosphere. I had a really good time here. I did not get to try the food, but it looked really good. They have a nice selection of beer and wine to choose from. I like the idea of a brewery having wine as well, because some of my friends don't drink beer. The service was ok, it was very busy, and the staff was working hard. I would recommend this place to anyone in the area.
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
This place was awesome. The staff were extremely nice and helpful as a first time visitor. I loved their outfits as they added so much character to the place. So many great beer and wine selections to choose from and the pizza was great! The pizza was made fresh in their pizza oven and came out perfectly cooked. Will definitely make a point to return.
google avatar

Randy S.

Yelp
Very nice watering spot. Very laid back, and quaint. The staff was polite and knowledgeable. A definite stop in Mt. Airy
google avatar

Landon J.

Yelp
I originally had no idea this place existed due to its location on Main Street. However I found that a few of my friends found the place and they always described it as their "hangout" place. When I went for the first time, it actually surprised me how clean the place was, the staff were very friendly towards me and their pizzas taste amazing, however their portions are small.. prices are reasonable, the atmosphere within this little gem is very warm and almost like a man cave! I loved it and I continue to make appearances there when I can.

Yelp
Love this place and the people! Thank you for such great food and drink. Also for the music nights. This is the perfect gathering place!
