The 15 Best Sushi Omakase Spots In NYC For Under $100

"There must be some sort of tax incentive that encourages sushi businesses to open in the East Village. There’s no other way to explain the huge number of omakase spots in the neighborhood, most of which opened over the past few years. Thirteen Water is one such place, and it sets itself apart with a creative array of toppings that actually enhance the nigiri, rather than overwhelm the fish. For $75, you can sit at a casual U-shaped counter and eat 13 courses that might include scallop with finger lime, barracuda with yuzu kosho, or hamachi topped with ribbons of shishito pepper." - neha talreja, bryan kim, kenny yang, hannah albertine, will hartman

Thirteen Water Review - East Village - New York - The Infatuation

"Nowadays, you can't walk half a block in the East Village without running into a place where you can eat sub-$100 omakase sushi. There are a lot of spots to choose from, but Thirteen Water sets itself apart with a variety of interesting toppings. A meal here lasts exactly one hour, and it consists of a $75 omakase with 13 pieces. You'll get things like barracuda with chives and yuzu kosho, salmon with roasted tomato, and toro topped with more toro and caviar. Try this place the next time you need something a little different. The only seating is around a U-shaped counter, and there are five seatings per night starting at 5pm." - Bryan Kim

Google
We just had an amazing experience with Edison who served us a 13 course meal. Each piece was carefully crafted and amazing taste. Edison made them extremely quick and we only paid $75! This was our first time and we heard this was better than places $100+, so definitely come here for your first time or if you’re experienced! Thank you Chef Edison!!

Google
Sushi is super fresh and very well prepares each piece had several aspect to it creating a balance of flavors in every single course. The drink menu has a variety of options and the very cozy dining room allows for each guest to feel like they are the center of attention.

Google
This place is a solid 3. I’d say about 2 pieces were memorable and interesting but that’s about it. They make sure you get in and out within 60 minutes unless you’re the last seating of the day. Price is fair but I was definitely not full. If you like fast omakase place with no interaction with the sushi chef, this place might be for you.

Google
Amazing Omakase Without the Crazy Price Tag Thirteen Water is such a great find! For $75, you get 13 pieces of delicious, quality sushi—and honestly, every single one was a hit. The toppings were super creative (like garlic chips, roasted tomato, and even truffle), but everything still felt really balanced and fresh. The space is cozy, and the vibe is chill and welcoming. The chef was super friendly, and the staff made the whole experience smooth. It’s a one-hour seating, but it didn’t feel rushed—just really well-paced. If you want awesome omakase in NYC without spending $200+, this is the spot.

Google
Solid omakase menu with fresh fish, attentive service, and delicious flavor combinations. Price per person was also very reasonable!

Google
I came here with a friend for an early dinner, and at $75 for 13 pieces, the price felt reasonable. However, the selection of sake and alcoholic beverages was quite limited. While the fish was fresh, the pieces were on the thinner side, and overall, the flavors weren't particularly memorable. The 60-minute time limit added a rushed feel to the experience, with pieces served one after another. It was an okay meal--not something I loved, but not something I disliked either. I probably wouldn't come back.

Google
Similar to Shinn West, 1 hour omakase. Everyone sits elbows to elbow at the counter even next to strangers. Excellent price, highly recommend a reservation

Google
Having been to a decent number of affordable omakase options in the city, this one is one of the best. The ingredients are fresh and tasty and the pieces are solid. The seating is an hour long so definitely not for everyone. But if you’re looking for a good meal at a very reasonable price, Thirteen Water is a top option.

Yelp
Fantastic value for your money. My fiance and I got the omakase menu for $75 per person and was well worth the price. I did leave feeling a little hungry still, but that's a me issue.

Yelp
- ~ * An experience * ~ - This was my first omakase and it was so good! Every time I took a bite my tastebuds were dancing!! I believe it's reservations only. They provide stale water or there's an option for sparkling. The place is clean. We had a large group of 9 people and the service made us feel welcomed. They even got a bottle of sake out for us to take a shot with them. It was so nice of them.

Yelp
Came here for lunch to enjoyed a quieter, more relaxed ambiance. The standouts for me were the hamachi, shima aji, hotate, otoro toro caviar, and unagi. Everything was fresh and beautifully prepared. There were a few unique twists that stood out, like the garlic chip garnish and the spicy hotate, which added a fun contrast to the otherwise fish-focused menu. For the price, it's also pretty good, especially considering the quality. A friend recommended trying the salmon tomato, which is one of their best dishes, but it's ONLY available during DINNER service. HIGHLY recommend coming for dinner if you're hoping to try that. I'll definitely be back to try the salmon tomato myself!

Yelp
Everything was absolutely excellent from the food to the ambiance to the experience. All the omakase pieces were delicious and such good quality. The servers and chefs were so nice and on top of things. I would definitely come back when I'm in the city. No bad words about this place!

Yelp
Perfect first omakase experience--unfussy, approachable, intimate. This is a tiny space and seatings are all together at the start time, so don't come too early--or else you'll need to wait outside. But be on time, as the personal sushi chef-ing gets started right away and you only have an hour! James was our chef and he did a great job. I liked that we had a print out of the courses so I knew what to expect. Service was fast and on point the entire time. Our personal fav's were the tuna truffle, shima aji, and the toast. We also added on the spicy crab and salmon hand rolls and the A5 wagyu. The only course I really didn't like was the botan ebi-the texture was a bit slimey for my taste and was one of those things that sticks with you and kinda grosses you out later. If you're looking for luxury or something super vibey, this might not be the place. But if you're looking for an approachable, quick, and extremely affordable (and pretty tasty!) omakase experience, this is the perfect spot.

Yelp
I really enjoyed the quality of the fish at thirteen water and the ambiance. There wasn't much interaction with the chef which was disappointing and the service was just ok but otherwise the restaurant was comfortable and small which I liked. I thought the Otoro Toro Caviar piece was the best and I was intrigued by the Salmon Tomato and Toast pieces. I will say that the rice was not as good at other omakase places I've gone to in the city. I thought the rice was a bit too sticky although flavored well. I also thought the quality of the Ikura was not the best. Other than that, everything else was good. Overall, I'd give it a 4.1

Yelp
Had an amazing experience at thirteen water during our last visit to New York! I had done some research beforehand to find a quality, but not overly pricey spot and this place fit the bill. We had the omakase, split a bottle of sake, and each got 1-2 specialty add ons on top of the set. All of the courses were delicious, and I really felt like the seasonings, sauces and toppings all worked together really well for each piece to be its own experience. We saw a few groups waiting outside when we got there, so we assumed seating wasn't available yet and we were right. They do group seating / eating, so each group for the same reservation time will be seated at the same time, and only after the previous group leaves. So don't go inside to take a peek before your res time, and make sure to keep up during the courses if you don't want to be the last ones there! The system made it feel a tad rushed since you didn't want to be left behind, but it wasn't too hard to stay with the group. It was relatively quiet in the room during the meal, but everyone was talking amongst their own groups, or even doing their own solo meal rituals so it felt very laid back. I'd definitely return again if the opportunity presented itself!

Yelp
I was pretty excited to try this omakase place since it is a bit more "experimental" with the pieces. However, I felt like some of the pieces did not work well in my opinion. The first few pieces such as the madai, chutoro, hamachi, and tuna truffle started off strong but then I started to dislike some of the pieces after. I think I disliked the salmon tomato and toast piece the most. The value was good for an omakase but the pieces were not as memorable compared to other places I have tried.
google avatar

Bryan S.

Yelp
The reservations for this spot seem to be booked up most of them time, so ended up having to go too early at 5pm. The counter only has about 15 seats. It was worth it though since they used a variety of different sauces that made it stand out from so many other omakase spots. I didn't take too many photos since I find omakase to always look very similar, but the otoro felt like he was building a tower. I'd go back again for sure.

Yelp
My friend and I have been to a new omakase place every month this year, and Thirteen Water was by far our favorite! EACH piece actually wow'ed me and I didn't think any piece was too normal or typical. For someone who doesn't really like tomato, the fact that I enjoyed the salmon tomato piece was a big sign that they're doing something right here! We also don't normally add any additional pieces but we both had to here. Booked another resy for next month because it was just so good!! One thing I do wish was a different is that I wish the ambiance was a bit darker to set the tone b/c it is pretty bright here, creating a more casual vibe. I would highly recommend Thirteen Water if anyone is looking for a reasonably priced, GOOD omakase in NYC!!
google avatar

Rainey C.

Yelp
Amazing food and service! Solid for one of the well-priced omakases in the city. Seating is limited to one hour. My favorite was the Hamachi, which had a smokey taste since they torch it. Intimate seating, and not too loud
google avatar

Angie L.

Yelp
One of my favorites now. Really impressive & only $75 for 13 courses. The layers concept works, the fish was creamy, service was solid, our beer came in these beautifully shaped chilled cups. Need the whole set for my kitchen tbh. Favorites were between the hamachi and the otoro caviar. I know the salmon tomato is controversial but that's been the course I've been fixated on since my visit. Gold star from me. Would totally come again!

Yelp
I went in with high expectations, however, was severely disappointed. First, the food was just okay. And second, the service at the end was horrible. The first bite I took, the rice was overpowering. It was too vinegary and overcooked. It be rice was mushy. The rice to fish ratio was also off which added to the overpowering flavor of the rice. The fish itself was just fine. It was hard to determine the taste of the some of the them. I do remember one piece with caviar was super greasy and big. It seemed like they just piled any expensive food they could find to make it sound fancy l. But the fish was just so mushy and greasy. Some of the other pieces were just fine. The chef was very nice and fun to talk to. However, the waitresses were quite rude. At the end when the bill came, she shoved the kiosk into my friend's face while she was still eating her last piece. This was 30 minutes into the meal when we were supposed to be give 60 minutes. When we payed she kept emphasis the fact that the price shown had NO TIP. For me, it always feels bad to have someone keep emphasizing this fact. After tipping, I went to the bathroom and came out to everything cleaned out 15 minutes before the end of the 60 minutes. My friends were waiting outside because they had been rushed out. The waitress had come around while they were waiting and stood behind them with a rag looking at my friend and then my stuff until she got intimidated and left. Keep in mind, there was no seatings after our time AND it wasn't even past what we were allocated. Just overall extremely rude and did not expect that. When I get something like an omakase experience, my expectation is that it should be a level above any time of regular sushi dinner just at a bare minimum. Or, at least AS good as a decent sushi dinner.
google avatar

Cindy K.

Yelp
I booked a reservation for Thirteen Water because I heard great things on social media and it was a close friends birthday. The food itself was delicious overall as someone who just came back from A vacation from Japan. It was a Sunday dinner and the sushi booths were super full. I do have a few critiques on the experience. For 13 pieces it was rushed and finished in less than 40 mins. I felt like although the staff was friendly the chef didn't really engage or explain any piece which thankfully was resolved with the menu. The rice was good but kept falling apart as well. I loved the recommendation of the yuzu sake that our waitress recommended. I was also a bit disappointed that there wasn't dessert or any special gesture when I marked it as a birthday celebration. So all in all although the food was decent, I'll have to take off 2 stars because of the lackluster experience and them needing to improve consistent experience for each client.

Gab G.

Yelp
Made a reservation for a Friday night and had a solid meal here. It was $75 for 13 courses as of September 2024. Definitely one of the better affordable omakase options in the area. Highlights included the churros, tuna truffle, shima aji, unagi and toast. I was super full after and thought it was great value for the price!
google avatar

Katie C.

Yelp
One of the most affordable and delicious omakases in the city! I could not even name a favorite because every bite was just as delicious as the last. The fish they use are all extremely fresh and the toppings and shavings are perfectly done. I'm use to the service being more upbeat and talkative at omakase counters. I felt like this was lacking at thirteen water and it would've really made the meal an easy five stars. It is also very quick as they were able to seat us till around 7:10pm and we left before 8pm. All in all, an amazing omakase experience. Would definitely recommend!
google avatar

Yelp
LITERALLY AMAZING EXPERIENCE!! I had Will be in charge of our section and he did not disappoint! Not only was he very talented at crafting the artwork (the food) he also made sure that we had a good time and enjoyed our first time experience at Thirteen Water! Very sweet and very welcoming The food was amazing! I loved every bit of it! my favorite was the salmon tomato!! Before trying it, I thought it was very odd but wow, my mind was blown afterwards. Probably one of my favs of the night!

Yelp
Clean, great ambiance, no nonsense, delicious fresh innovative pieces. Love. It is a really great value spot.

Yelp
Reserved a spot for dinner during my day trip in New York. It was kind of difficult to find because the restaurant looks very simple and subtle from the outside. Has a minimalistic style as most Japanese sushi places do these days. The restaurant itself is small and cozy. Seats about 15-18 customers for omakase inside. The sushi chefs make the rolls right in front of us and serves upon finishing one by one. It was a great experience to observe how they made everything and the techniques behind it. They moved so effortlessly, which showed how much experience they had :) Quality and freshness of the seafood were immaculate. The toro and many of the other fishes would all just melt in your mouth like butter and were all so unique and rich in flavor. I like how creative their omakase set was, which made it unique and different from many places. My only complaint is that some of the creative combinations just threw me off and didn't pair well for my taste buds. For example, the Salmon Tomato: it was so weird to have a bite of cold refreshing salmon and then have the warm mushy tomato hit afterwards... which I believe hid the magic and taste of the fish itself). Food was so good and I left feeling pretty satisfied as I was full after the course. For the price point, it was affordable for the quality of fish and experience you get. Hard to find $75 omakase in other states! It's definitely worth it and worth trying out once! I'm glad that this was my first omakase experience and I didn't have to break my wallet for it.
google avatar

Minh-Chau D.

Yelp
Delicious!!! Great value for the price point, every piece was interesting and tasted amazing. My favorites were the chu toro, salmon foie gras, hamachi and otoro toro caviar. I went for lunch and it was a quick and quiet session. I liked the pacing a lot for solo dining. Hokkaido uni handroll was refreshing after the main course and they gave a lot of uni, but I think I could have gone without it. The course was already perfect as is.
google avatar

Becky C.

Yelp
Food: the fish tasted fresh and definitely worth the value. It was 13 pieces for $75. Didn't give a lot of rice, which I appreciated compared to other places that would leave me bloated. My favorites were the tomato salmon and hamachi. Service: seated right away and served was attentive with drinks. Chef was friendly and introduced each piece of fish. Ambiance: intimate setting, nice decor, nothing to complain about. Sat in a U-shaped bar around three chefs preparing the fish in the middle.
google avatar

Jenny Z.

Yelp
Service was EXTREMELY speedy (in and out in 40 minutes) and the pieces came out so fast, but I have to say thirteen water is now in my top 3 budget omakases in the city. Despite the speedy service, thirteen water does not sacrifice on the quality of the fish, with my favorites being the chu toro, toro truffle, and hamachi. I also do not like ebi and the ebi was really good. They even brought out matcha ice cream with a candle for my birthday! For less than 100 after tax and tip, pretty good bang for your buck. Only con though is I did leave still hungry, so adding a few extras wouldn't hurt.
google avatar

Grace A.

Yelp
Thirteen Water has promoted itself as being very accommodating towards gluten free. Unfortunately, this is an old policy. I was told their policy has changed and they no longer accommodate any allergy that cannot handle cross contamination, which is most allergies, especially if the need to be gluten free is because of celiac disease.
google avatar

Jay R.

Yelp
I was a bit apprehensive that you can get quality omakase for under $100, but my friends had gone to the Thirteen Water East location and they said its one of their favorite spots. I managed to get a reservation on Resy for 5 of us here since the East location was booked up. One issue is they don't have their liquor license yet, but you can BYOB so we brought some delicious sake to enjoy here. I have to say, the omakase was great for the price point. We even ordered several more pieces after the 13 courses since it was so cheap. While Thirteen Water doesn't compare to higher end spots, the fish quality is still great and it feels like a spot you can go to more frequently since its a bit more casual/less intimate.
google avatar

Matt F.

Yelp
A tad disappointed in my experience at thirteen water. Overall the food quality is really good. Everything reminded me of dining at Shinn East (I believe it's owned by the same group), but the experience fell short of what I've come to expect from Shinn East at a similar price point. The service was great, I just think the menu played too much with combinations. The one highlight I liked randomly enough was the salmon with torched tomato!
google avatar

Athena L.

Yelp
found thirteen water through social media and was intrigued by their more unique pieces -- a friend and i made reservations for an early seating on nye to ring in the new year. thirteen water is notably less intimate than other omakase places i've been to recently with a large counter seating (borderline crowded), which isn't entirely a negative but definitely speaks more to a focus on turnover. service was quick and there was little wait between each piece -- will say the whole experience felt a little rushed overall. the unique pieces don't detract from the lineup: the most unique one was the salmon tomato (salmon was quality and tomato was not overpowering and texture complemented well, just didn't wow me too much). favorites were definitely the tuna truffle (very rich!) and the toast (served with uni and toro, which is of course going to be a good time). all the fish was fresh and good quality with no real weak or bad pieces, but despite having a less traditional menu, the entire dinner felt like it passed without much note or fanfare. however, as a whole it was enjoyable and a great deal for the price!
google avatar

Lana S.

Yelp
The best sushi I've ever had in my life My friend has come here before and really loved it so since she knew we were coming to the city she made reservations for us way in advance. This is a 13 course omakase that is $75! What a value and an experience. There is a 15 seat counter and only a few times slots per evening. We showed up a little early and had to wait outside before they were ready for us. From the service to the food it was 5/5 experience! We had a menu of the 13 pieces of our omakase and a menu for drinks/extra pieces if we liked a certain piece of sushi and wanted we could order more. All of the fish was so fresh and the flavors all paired well together. I think my favorites were the tuna truffle, otoro toro caviar and the bonto ebi. Really all of it was fantastic !
google avatar

Ilana Z.

Yelp
Similar to what others said, 13 water is a solid spot with great value for what you pay! You get 13 courses for $75/pp, which is super reasonable. We were 15-20 min late and the restaurant was actually super accommodating and our chef waited for us to arrive before making our pieces. We really appreciated this. We really enjoyed all of the pieces but my eel piece had a huge bone that I had to pull out. Our favorite was the toro tuna with caviar on top. Other than that, we were in and out after 45 min.
google avatar

Jamie L.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for an early dinner, and at $75 for 13 pieces, the price felt reasonable. However, the selection of sake and alcoholic beverages was quite limited. While the fish was fresh, the pieces were on the thinner side, and overall, the flavors weren't particularly memorable. The 60-minute time limit added a rushed feel to the experience, with pieces served one after another. It was an okay meal--not something I loved, but not something I disliked either. I probably wouldn't come back.
google avatar

Amy L.

Yelp
I've been to a handful of omakase places and this one is definitely one of my tops. For the price of $75 and 13 courses I was amazed by the uniqueness of each dish prepared here. The experience was a little under an hour and I appreciated the speed of which each piece came out. I was satisfied with the amount of dishes but my boyfriend probably could've had a few more to be full. Service was great. The waiters refilled our tea and water frequently and were always very attentive. The interior was simple. My favorites were the otoro, tuna truffle and shima aji
google avatar

Cristina Z.

Yelp
Incredibile food and ambiance! It was a bit too fast but totally worth it for an in and out dinner! Friendly service!
google avatar

Michelle F.

Yelp
I've been wanting to try thirteen water for a while now and finally got a chance to go! The omakase set is $75 for 13 pieces and you can add on specials or pieces from the omakase set again at the end! I ended up adding the scallop uni from the specials. I really enjoyed my experience - each piece was delicious and fresh! I really enjoyed the toppings on top of each piece that made it more unique and elevated. The seating is quite limited so everyone is at the counter and you can see the care that the chef puts into making each piece. The dining experience is very calm and serene, which I personally enjoyed a lot! I know some people expect a lot of conversation and banter with their chefs for omakase but I actually quite enjoyed how quiet and peaceful it all felt. There were only 8 people total seated when I was dining there which really makes for an attentive and personal experience. Seating is limited to 60 minutes and we were pretty much in and out in under 50 minutes, so if you are looking for a slower, longer meal or some place to linger and chit chat that's just something to be aware of. I never felt rushed and each piece was paced appropriately in my opinion! Definitely recommend stopping by!
google avatar

Kathy M.

Yelp
Counter seating for patrons, so everyone has a full view of the chefs preparing item for Omakase. Our party of five was seated right away and the chef got to work as soon as we were seated. Pacing was just right in between each delectable bite-- enough time to savor each item and not feeling empty while waiting for the next. Our server took our drinks and waters were promptly served. More importantly, each item was prepared with care and some flair which we appreciated. The menu was on our table so we knew what the chef was preparing in good order. Everything was great, but I have to say my favorite was the snapper with freshly grated yuzu. Such a simple bite but it was all the feeeels. The otoro toro caviar was also great! Everyone loved all 13 items. There are additional items you can order aka carte at the end of the 13 items. Your server will ask you if there are more that you would like to try. It is fairly inexpensive compared to other omakase experiences in NYC, and I do think that's the draw where it is hard to get a reservation ( but not impossible). The fish is fresh, well seasoned and the flavors were well-balanced and thought of.
google avatar

Najin K.

Yelp
For $75 each bite was specially crafted. I think this is one of the best Omakase I have been in New York City and it didn't feel pretentious or overly fancy. Everything is served very fast so plan to only be here for one hour.
google avatar

Jacqueline L.

Yelp
Our friend who moved to New York is made of one thing and that's sushi. She has raved about this place ever since and we're so glad we finally got to try it! We were so lucky to get Aaron as our chef! Every piece of sushi was traditional, SO fresh, and leaves you wanting more with every bite. Will be coming back any time we visit NY!
google avatar

Ashley H.

Yelp
Great new omakase place that's the sister restaurant of Shinn East. I've always enjoyed Shinn East, so figured this would be an affordable and delicious new spot too. Seatings are for 1 hour only, so you should plan to get here 5 mins before your reservation. They seat you quickly and start serving your first course within the first few minutes. Definitely feels a bit rushed, but we were done with all 13 courses within 45-50 mins, with time at the end to order additional pieces. The unique part of this restaurant compared to other omakase experiences, is the topping for each piece. My favorites: Otoro Toro Caviar, Toast, and the Hamachi. All had unique toppings and presentations, with great flavor and fresh fish. Would love to come back and try their other seasonal menus!
google avatar

Danielle L.

Yelp
So many omakase restaurants popping up in New York these days. Which ones do you choose? Every place is offering premium sushi at an affordable price but which ones are the best and actually worth the price/experience? Look no further! Thirteen Water is definitely one of the better ones. It is $75 for 13 courses for an hour seating. The restaurant is very intimate as it only seats around 16 people and people keep their voices down (that is one thing I had to get used to since I am loud and talk a lot but that is a me problem). My favorites were the otoro toro caviar and hotate (scallops). You can ask for substitutes. The lady next to us didn't want unagi (eel) so the chef gave her an uni piece instead! We also ordered the A5 Wagyu that literally melted in your mouth. All the seafood was so fresh and the layering of the seafood and different ingredients such as lemon zest, foie gras and truffle were top notch.
google avatar

Victor H.

Yelp
Came here for Omakase and it was superb. I believe it was 13 course. I believe an hour sits 15 people. We had the $75pp offering. There were couple of ones that i loved: Tuna Truffle, Shima Aji, Salmon Tomato, Otoro Toro Caviar, Toast, and Unagi. The ambiance was great. lighting was perfect, noise was not loud we were able to have a conversation and share our experiences. The chef was delicate and explained as he was preparing the dishes. The showmanship was great, I enjoyed the show with the torch... Since we liked the omakase tasting we decided to order extra food. We ordered the A5 wagyu. The preparing part looked cool when the chef was cutting it, its marble color, the flaming it when it was being prepared, etc... And when the time came it tasted alright. I guess because i've had better wagyu elsewhere... Anyways, I'd say Thirteen Water is definitely worth it: the experience, the enjoyment, the food tasting, the food flavour, the quietness and exclusiveness of the place, and many more...

Yelp
Amazing food and service, but felt like pacing could have been a little slower! Came here for my birthday and they start very on time. We got the omakase set without any add ons. $75 for 13 courses felt very reasonable to me! Fish were all pretty fresh. Food highlights: Hamachi - loved the fish and sauteed pepper on top Shima aji - enjoyed the crispy garlic that added flavor/texture Ikura - personal favorite Scallop/Hotate - very fresh and chewy Otoro Toro Caviar - perf ratio of each ingredient Toast with uni and tuna - loved the flavor combo and contrast of textures Toro handroll - super fresh seaweed and fish, good ratios too! The store itself is kinda small and tight knit. They have a good range of sake and drinks. Staff were really nice and attentive. They gave us a free matcha ice cream for my bday. Nevertheless I felt like it was really quick to fit 13 courses in 60 mins; honestly fish to fish was more like 40 mins so it was hard to keep up with eating while trying to socialize with my party. They kindly asked us to leave by the 55 minute mark. I wasn't aware of the time limits so I was shocked at how fast it went by and how strict/short the timing was.

Yelp
Omakase with exciting layered sushi and elevated flavor combinations, high quality ingredients (and so much toro!), and relatively affordable (only $75). It was really cool having rich sashimi pieces topped with different garnishes and sauces, very interesting. Their rice is quite special, you can feel each kernel and it's seasoned wonderfully. Highlights: Toast with toro and uni: So full of umami and rich and creamy, it just melts in your mouth. On top of a crispy buttered toast, it's like bread and butter but elevated to a whole new level. Chutoro with otoro with uni: It's like putting delicious luxury in your mouth. The different toro and mixture of fattiness and the hit of caviar, amazing. Roe with lemon: Salmon roe has a satisfying popping and has a fishy taste. Thirteen water adds lemon strips to it, which adds a delightful sweetness and fruitiness to the sushi, quite a nice surprise. Botan ebi: The sweet shrimp was fresh and had nice flavor. Mixed with some pickled wasabi, wonderful combination. It is worth noting that all the pieces don't come with the traditional bit wasabi, only this one had some wasabi.

Yelp
After an extensive search for some great omakase, I came upon Thirteen Water. I was able to make a same day reservation for a 8:30pm time slot (at the west side location.) the meal was $75 for 13 courses! Our experience there was great, the staff was extremely kind and attentive (even being so gracious as to wait to begin our experience when my friend was running late.) Each piece of fish we had was fresh and prepared perfectly, however, my favorite of the night was the A5 Wagyu & foie gras. The seating was intimate and quiet. Definitely on my list of favorites!

Yelp
Had reservations for a Friday evening and although we were a few minutes late they sat us. Only a few people fit each seating, two chefs working at a time. Pretty standard set up! The sushi was amazing and very filling! Very high quality and the accompanying flavors went very well with each fish. I would definitely come back!

Yelp
The omakase lineup was great, honestly one of the best I've had, every piece was delicious and meticulously done. I feel like a lot of times omakase specifically will have a few stand out pieces and some forgettable ones. Here I found myself really enjoying every piece! The service is a bit quick so don't expect to get too comfortable, I think our first piece was served within 3 minutes of sitting down. That being said, from the first piece to last everything was delicious, some pieces more "common" like the salmon tomato (ordered a repeat in the end just cause it was perfection) to some more inventive. Overall a great experience, I think a great place to take someone visiting, delicious and won't break the bank

Yelp
This place was all over my social media as one of the best "affordable" omakase. For $75, you get 13 different fish (including a hand roll) and I thought it was absolutely delicious and so worth it! The more affordable aspect definitely showed up in the no frills experience. You're definitely in and out within the hour and the experience is extremely straight forward. If you're looking to hangout with friends or have cocktails and the whole experience, this might not be the place for you. However, if you're open to just an hour of high quality fish and creative preparation, this is the perfect place. Definitely recommend!

Yelp
Every single piece was so delicious and the flavors meshed so well. It's $75 for 13 pieces. I am missing parts of each piece but overall they included: 1. Madai - snapper with lime zest 2. Chutoro - fatty tuna with pickled wasabi 3. Hamachi - hamachi yellowtail with shishito peppers 4. Tuna Truffle - blue fin tuna with shiitake mushroom and truffle (so so good) 5. Shima Aji - stripe jack with fried garlic 6. Salmon Tomato - salmon with seared tomato (was such an unexpecting tasty combo) 7. Ikura - salmon roe with yuzu skin (loved the hint of yuzu) 8. Botan Ebi - shrimp with pico wasabi 9. Hotate - scallop with sea salt, lime zest 10. Otoro Toro Caviar 11. Unagi - unagi over rice (simple and good) 12. Toast - tuna, uni (wasn't a big fan of the toast portion because it was a bit dry) 13. Toro handroll - toro with pickled radish Loved every piece and highly recommend this place. Whole experience finished before the hour to allow for extra orders. Served on a plate with ginger. No personal soy sauce dish or wasabi as it is already implemented by the chef.

Yelp
Love how unique their pieces are here compared to other omakase restaurants at this price point. If you're looking for something more experimental and flavorful this is your place. The service was quick and each course was nicely paced. The restaurant is small and intimate with only bar seating so just be mindful if you want a table. Each course is made in front of you and was definitely an enjoyable experience!

Yelp
Superb omakase in the East Village. Every piece was quite unique and they didn't need to revert to butter or a torch to enhance the flavor or uniqueness of each sushi piece. Good portion sizes and layering of flavors. Only qualm, and I understand omakase, is the strict 1 hour sit down and dine and leave, it takes away from the experience but that's the business of omakase of I get it. Very solid for the price, recommend.

Yelp
Birthday dinner in NYC and the family took me to one of the new "black board" Omakase genred restaurants popping up all over our city. Set menu of 13 pieces for $75, a la carte add ons available separately. We were honored to have the owner Aaron serve the 6 of us tonight. Won't go into each of the 13 pieces, but all were very good, very fresh and delicious. My standouts were the tomato salmon (umami, lightly acidic, lightly sweet - first time!) and good ole unagi hand roll (I think that was a special one-off just for me, so satisfying). Aaron and the entire staff were very accommodating, attentive and warm. Located in Alphabet City, near Tompkins Square Park, it's good to see that NYC bounced back from the chaos of the riots here in the early 1990's. Go Big Apple!

Yelp
Such a good deal for omakase! $75 for 13 pieces. Reminds me of what Sushi by Bou used to be a few years ago, before the pieces of fish got smaller, worse quality and the entire experience started feeling more commercialized. The restaurant is fully countertop seating and there's around 15 spots total, so you can watch your pieces being made and ask questions as you like. The seats are higher up and there are little hooks for you to hang your bags under the table. The sushi chef was so fast at making different pieces and good at personalizing based on our preferences (for wasabi or specific spices). He was also very friendly in explaining each piece to us. My personal faves were the botan ebi (of course!!!), hotate, chutoro and then the hamachi with shishito pepper. Last was such a unique taste that I loved!! One point I did notice is that this spot uses a lot of lemon rather than yuzu, and sometimes too much lemon. The pieces that came with lemon reminded me more of ceviche than sushi, but that might be my personal preference for yuzu! They definitely tried to explore with different flavors and textures more than other omakase spots I've been to.
