The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is breathtaking, with its grand neoclassical architecture and stunning Tidal Basin views, especially during cherry blossom season. Inside, a towering bronze Jefferson statue and inscriptions of his writings create a reflective atmosphere. There’s a gift shop, restrooms, and a historical exhibit. Expect a lot of walking in D.C.; parking is tough, and the metro is recommended. Visit at night for a peaceful experience—my favorite memorial in the capital!

The Thomas Jefferson Memorial was quite impressive. The finite details, the humongous Roman architecture, and the overall cleanliness of the area were just amazing. There are bookstores and gift shops within the area if souvenirs are of your liking. If you plan to travel in the winter, don't forget to bring your cold weather gear. It's a wet cold and there were plenty of tourists who came unprepared. During the summertime, it's a swamp. Lots of bugs and high sun exposure. Plan to walk a notable amount throughout DC. Parking can be a challenge. The metro is highly utilized to avoid parking fines and limitations.

Given its proximity to the waterside, there many angles to capture Jefferson Memorial. Due to the new sea wall construction, many spots are either too far away or obstructed by a wall. I managed to find an opening where construction where passing through their supplies. The statue of Jefferson stands tall in the center of the room. There were many churches advertising at the back, so it can be a bit crowded in some areas.

First time at this memorial and I was blown away. Kept beautifully, this location offers gorgeous views inside and outside. The walk to the Jefferson was peaceful and during the fall months, extra beautiful with the leaves changing colors and falling from the trees around the Tidal Basin. In the basement, they have many clean restrooms to use and a small, but stocked gift shop. Grab a free map while there. It shows all the monuments and museums. Highly recommend.

Iconic, historical and worth the walk around from the main park. One of the many must see memorials / statues / building when in DC. Much less busy than the main area over by the Lincoln / Washington Memorial. Great views of the park and lake, especially beautiful at sunset.

A great piece of history. It's nice at night and removed from the most crowded parts of DC. This was my favorite memorial in the capital to visit when I was in grad school. There is a nice gift shop in the base of the monument with bathrooms and an unbiased historical exhibit exposing the complicated nature of America's first president.

Update: there is construction going on, so getting to the actual memorial is a bit of an annoyance. Also, if you're looking to get an Uber/Lyft over here, the location is not very clear. We missed our US Capital tour due to this. You can get your dose of exercise by going up the stairs. It's not too bad. After you reach the top, you'll see a statue of Thomas Jefferson. He was the third president of the United States, a Founding Father, and primary author of the Declaration of Independence. If you look around at the walls, you'll see some of his quotes. Admission is free. Definitely less crowded than the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. You'll get some crowds but it's not bad. You also get an amazing view when you look out.

Fantastic view of the lake and Washington monument! The Thomas Jefferson memorial has street parking available nearby and paid parking at this location: 38.878343,-77.037668. It was about 4$ for 1.5 hours. During the cherry blossom season, it's very packed, but on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of spots available. It's a gorgeous monument is made out of a white/grey marble. It has a shallow dome that parallels the dome of the Pantheon. As of May 21, 2024, there is part of the memorial that is blocked off due to construction.

I visited the Thomas Jefferson Memorial during the week of the cherry blossoms by the Tidal Basin being in full bloom. It was interesting to learn more about the type of President that Thomas Jefferson was; and the structure of the memorial and statue are beautifully crafted. The memorial is located in a very picturesque location, and if you time it right, and are there for sundown there are extra perks with the aesthetics added to your visit.

WARNING: CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION HAS ALREADY STARTED. Disappointed the website did not advise visitors that the museum downstairs was closed, access and elevators not available, only one side open to walk up to the rotunda. They should have posted this info to alert visitors. Big disappointment, they gave the impression the seawall project and memorial renovation would start later this year, oh well, such is life.

A beautiful bronze statue in a beautiful memorial chamber. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is filled with wise words. This attraction can be done in 20mins time.

For those looking for a proposal or engagement spot. Go through the memorial and go to your left. Great spot off to the side where no one is and you still have a great view of the city and the Washington Monument.
