The Jefferson Memorial is a historic monument in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States and principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Located on the Tidal Basin, south of the National Mall, completed in 1943, with a style of the Roman Pantheon, built with white Imperial marble from Vermont. There is a 19-foot bronze statue of Jefferson, surrounding the statue are inscriptions of Jefferson’s writings, including excerpts from the Declaration of Independence and his letters.
It’s especially popular during cherry blossom season in the spring, with pink flowers with
scenic views of the Washington Monument and the National Mall.
