One of my favourite attractions in Washington. Tucked away a little bit further from other attractions, you can enjoy the grounds, views over the Tidal Basin and the changing weather patterns from here. It is the farthest attraction from Capitol Hill. If you do visit in the middle of a summer afternoon, be careful of the heat. The sunset and sunrise must be nice from here. Great monument representing an important figure in American history. Free entry.

Beautiful monument. Amazing architecture. We almost skipped it due to time left we had in the DC area, but we made the time, and it was definitely worth it for the breathtaking views alone. There are plenty of restrooms here, and you can see the White House and Washington Monument easily from the stairs. If you have the time, you must check it out. No tickets required, just visit and observe. Beautiful during late afternoon and sunset hour.

Visited the Jefferson Memorial in Washington DC and it was breathtaking! The architecture is stunning, and the views of the Tidal Basin are gorgeous. It's a beautiful tribute to Thomas Jefferson's legacy. A must-see for history buffs and anyone who appreciates stunning architecture. Highly recommend visiting during sunset or twilight for an unforgettable experience.

The Jefferson Memorial is a historic monument in Washington, D.C., dedicated to Thomas Jefferson, the third President of the United States and principal author of the Declaration of Independence. Located on the Tidal Basin, south of the National Mall, completed in 1943, with a style of the Roman Pantheon, built with white Imperial marble from Vermont. There is a 19-foot bronze statue of Jefferson, surrounding the statue are inscriptions of Jefferson’s writings, including excerpts from the Declaration of Independence and his letters. It’s especially popular during cherry blossom season in the spring, with pink flowers with scenic views of the Washington Monument and the National Mall.

Incredible. I parked at the lot just south of it, it’s about a 5 minute walk. You walk under the bridge and literally just right after the bridge there is a set of stairs you can take up to the memorial. Just beautiful. The views are breathtaking. If you’re going to continue to walk and see the other attractions I highly encourage you to take a rental bike or scooter to cut down your walking time and suffering!

This memorial is just stunning! From the stairs leading up, to the columns around the perimeter...it is truly beautiful. The view of the Washington Monument through the columns with the cherry blossoms was amazing. Make sure you turn around and look towards the White House when you are inside. It's a direct view.. you're at the Memorial looking at the Washington Monument and then on to the White House, apparently planned this way. Definitely recommend a visit, you really don't need any more than 30-40 mins.

Super fun to see the Jefferson Memorial. Probably my most favorite. We rented some scooters and rode there and back. Great views of the Washington Monument. Great to go anytime, BUT sunset is the BEST!

Easy pay parking near the Monument, but it is also a stop on the Hop On/Hop Off bus. Solemn and Inspirational. From the portico facing the Tidal Basin you can see the Washington Monument, the White House and the Martin Luther King Memorial. Ground level entrance where restrooms and gift shop are located. There is an elevator to reach the statue. During my visit, all visitors were respectful and quiet. The Memorial feels spacious and accommodating. Reduced staffing was obvious, however the staff that were on duty were helpful and patient.

Yelp
Update: there is construction going on, so getting to the actual memorial is a bit of an annoyance. Also, if you're looking to get an Uber/Lyft over here, the location is not very clear. We missed our US Capital tour due to this. You can get your dose of exercise by going up the stairs. It's not too bad. After you reach the top, you'll see a statue of Thomas Jefferson. He was the third president of the United States, a Founding Father, and primary author of the Declaration of Independence. If you look around at the walls, you'll see some of his quotes. Admission is free. Definitely less crowded than the Abraham Lincoln Memorial. You'll get some crowds but it's not bad. You also get an amazing view when you look out.

Yelp
Fantastic view of the lake and Washington monument! The Thomas Jefferson memorial has street parking available nearby and paid parking at this location: 38.878343,-77.037668. It was about 4$ for 1.5 hours. During the cherry blossom season, it's very packed, but on a Saturday/Sunday afternoon, there was plenty of spots available. It's a gorgeous monument is made out of a white/grey marble. It has a shallow dome that parallels the dome of the Pantheon. As of May 21, 2024, there is part of the memorial that is blocked off due to construction.

Yelp
I visited the Thomas Jefferson Memorial during the week of the cherry blossoms by the Tidal Basin being in full bloom. It was interesting to learn more about the type of President that Thomas Jefferson was; and the structure of the memorial and statue are beautifully crafted. The memorial is located in a very picturesque location, and if you time it right, and are there for sundown there are extra perks with the aesthetics added to your visit.

Yelp
WARNING: CONSTRUCTION AND RENOVATION HAS ALREADY STARTED. Disappointed the website did not advise visitors that the museum downstairs was closed, access and elevators not available, only one side open to walk up to the rotunda. They should have posted this info to alert visitors. Big disappointment, they gave the impression the seawall project and memorial renovation would start later this year, oh well, such is life.

Yelp
A beautiful bronze statue in a beautiful memorial chamber. The Thomas Jefferson Memorial is filled with wise words. This attraction can be done in 20mins time.

Yelp
For those looking for a proposal or engagement spot. Go through the memorial and go to your left. Great spot off to the side where no one is and you still have a great view of the city and the Washington Monument.

Yelp
there was a young man yelling at his teacher curse words screaming and shouting with a teacher yelling at him and it was very sad because this is a very sacred area
