Google
They have pop up vendors for food. On Thursday they have Delroy w/his jerk chicken, smoked wings and ribs. Good stuff! The summer outdoor vibe is my favorite. Bartenders are very nice and attentive. It’s a vibe!

Great place to stop after visiting the Eastern Market. The bartender was really chill. No food service but can bring on your own food. The Bloody Mary is a meal!

Google
What a place! Came here on a Monday (when they'd opened specifically for an LFC match) and was blown away by the hospitality - Irish coffees and HT pizza anyone? - and the kindness shown to me by Jet (hope I've spelled tha right) who was running the place and assorted legends partaking in the match / beer / whisky. They even gave me a Detroit LFC supporters scarf which I'll be sure to take to Anfield when I next go. Super fun and lovely people - thank you!

Google
Excellent bar for EPL matches!! Home to the Liverpool Detroit Supporters however a friendly group for all fans. They have a few dart boards and a couple leagues that run periodically throughout the year. Feel free to bring in outside food as they don’t have a kitchen. 100% recommend checking out Magees ⚽️ 🍻

A beautiful night on the patio with family and friends. You can expect generous pour. Bring your money for the JUKEBOX... Great place to watch the games with nice enthusiastic crowd.

I came here expecting to get food and a soda, I don't drink, but they don't serve food so hard to review here. Bartender are very friendly and fast. Place is very clean with good atmosphere.

Google
An expensive place 1st and foremost @ $9.00 per beer but it was odd that my bartender cashed me out after she glared at me and so I asked whats up? Maybe theres a code here that I lm unfamiliar wit.

Google
My absolute favorite bar on the planet! If you’re just visiting the city or a local, this is a must for all local sports, boxing, F1, etc! As the home pub for the Detroit Liverpool FC Supporters, the memories I’ve made there since ‘15 are endless. Ownership and staff are always accommodating to needs and always friendly. Erik would give the shirt off his back to anyone that needed it. This place will always be a second home! There is no kitchen for food, but you can order or bring in food from any of the awesome neighboring places.

Yelp
Good place to watch fútbol and the service was fast, drinks were fine. It's nothing fancy but my hubby and his friends have gone several times before events since it has a nice dive bar feel (not dive bar prices tho). They open early to watch soccer games and there might be some singing to add to the fun atmosphere. We also noticed a sign saying they air F1 races too!

Yelp
I want to like this place, we love the World Cup, watching football, and being downtown. Well this last Sunday was the lions 2nd game and it was home, we started over by ford field, went to a few spots, and walked about 15 minutes all the way over here for the final quarter because someone in our group wanted to. My fiancé orders us our first round of drinks here, I grab it and I was looking at how to get out to the smoking section, with a full beer I turned around when I realized there was no exit in the viewing room and a bartender immediately stopped me, took my drink, gave me a water and said she was cutting me off. Everyone in my group was surprised, and when asked why she took my drink she said I spilled beer and my eyes were looking down. It was full, I was walking, and I take eye drops for my eyes because I have a medical condition. When I brought this up to her she was extremely rude, and wasn't having any of it. This is just one more reason not to come here. If it's not one thing it's another, we couldn't come earlier because we were hanging out with someone who had the away teams jersey on and apparently you can't get in this place with an away team jersey. There was a time someone told me they asked to see a different World Cup match that wasn't Liverpool on one tv, and guess what ? They wouldn't put it on - Liverpool only. I'm pretty much done with this place, it was a total drag and we all couldn't wait to get the hell out of there.

Yelp
Very cool environment to grab a beer and watch a soccer game in the eastern market area of Detroit. The service is always very attentive and friendly. A very unexpected must try for this sports bar is their Irish coffee. This traditionally made drink is on point very comparable to The Buena Vista in San fransisco.

Yelp
One of the best bars in Detroit. This place is the perfect Detroit bar. Rough around the edges but in all the best ways. Rugged and tough like its owner but with a big heart. Why go to a cookie cutter bar when you can visit a Detroit classic. Best bar to watch a sporting event in the city hands down.
google avatar

Yelp
This place will never disappoint. How do you handle 10 Bus loads from Chicago visitors??? Thomas Magee's, and Jett the manager know how!!! Great Job!!! Irish coffee!!!! Mannn. The Best.

Yelp
We came down for opening day and our plans did not go as expected. We started off at Vivos but he had to leave to attend to some personal stuff so I stuck around and waited for his return. While at vivios a couple of workers from Magees came over for lunch. As I was chatting with them I ended up leaving and going to MaGees. I have been wanting to check it out for the past few years. I was surprised at what a great place this was to watch the game! Tons of TVs! I made some new friends while I was there and unfortunately, did a couple of shots and by the time he got back to me, I needed to go home. Oops. Can't trust me with alcohol. Haha. I also didn't eat all day and they don't serve food so that was an unfortunate series of events. We will definitely be back! We hang out at Eastern Market quite a bit so this is a great location for us!

Yelp
This is one of the most unique and best single barrel Elijah Craig's I've ever had. Full of oak and vanilla, very soft on the palate =D

Yelp
We always have such fun time at Thomas Magee's. If you're looking for chill spot to watch sports, meet up with friends, and have a few shots of whiskey...this is the sport for you. Located close to Eastern Market this is a must stop in the area. I've hosted a few events here and they have been awesome accommodating my needs. They don't serve food, but you're able to grab some delicious food from a nearby venue and bring it in to eat. I love bringing over Supinos Pizza to add to our Detroit celebrations! You never know, you just might see me there!

Yelp
We arrive 1 hour before game time and were told just outside seating, will let that slide due to COVID but it must have been 60 degrees and windy and no heaters available. Therefore everyone stood next to the dumpsters/highway rail to keep warm thanks to the sun. Pro of standing all the way back there is that you can at least see the screen better because where the chairs are is to pixelated to even tell players. Cons: stand for 2 hours, smell the dumpster for 2 hours, fight with bees for 2 hours and drink beer with bees. (Picture below) The service ain't great either we were told at 10:40am they had no Coffee and to grab it from another place, also 2 servers and no in bar ordering means you spend the full half time with NO Beer. I am not even bringing up the menu but I can tell you that from many previous bars experiences this is close to bottom which is a sad because I Love Detroit :-(

Yelp
Our group stopped in while on vacation in the area. Atmosphere was quieter and less inviting than I'd expect from a sports bar, but most reviews were good so we were happy to give it a try. I was the designated driver and one friend didn't feel like drinking. Our other two friends shared an $18 double shot of whiskey and planned to order more once they were done. Before they even finished, the bartender came over and told us that we "couldn't just sit in there without ordering anything". There was plenty of space in the bar though and we didn't understand why we all had to be drinking. Regardless of her reasoning, the bartender was rude, we felt really unwelcome, and left shortly after. Side note: my friends said the whiskey tasted bad.

Yelp
My favorite bar in town. My hometown bar in a city that is being taken over with craft cocktail concepts. Erik, the owner is a great guy and knows his regulars and makes sure to take care of them. For me and my friend group this is our "Cheers" this is where everybody knows your name. Every bartender knows my drink and pours it before I have the chance to ask. That was impressive enough when I was in the building 3 or more nights a week but I've been living across the country for 6+ months now and every trip back I get the same amazing service as if I never left. I've seen more than a few reviews talking about how there's no food served at Magee's.... thats a positive for me honestly. No food served means you are welcome to bring your own. No food means there are rotating pop-up style menus being brought in catering style. No food means you can grab Supino's from down the street while your friend has Stache delivered from next door. Great place, and Erik makes sure to show just about every game (if you're into that sort of thing).

Yelp
I love a laid back hole-in-the-wall bar. At least it was last Tuesday night. My cigar coach and I went there after hanging out at the river, being that it's close. He apparently frequents the place. When we arrived and were still outdoors, there was a man singing some kind of folksy music. I was relieved that it was the end of his set. He was walking to his seat as we walked in the door. The music is pretty loud outside, I was surprised that I've never noticed the place. They switched to old school rap, which I found quite funny. Just didn't fit the vibe of the place. In my opinion, it's definitely a place for the fellas. This girl likes martinis. They serve whiskey primarily, so no drinks for sophisticated girly girls. The bartender did happen to have a few flavored vodkas, I drank one with sprite. Not for me but... Again, it seems to be a manly man's kind of place. The bartender was friendly. There is plenty of parking, as it is in Eastern Market which is basically a ghost town at night. Small and quaint- seems like a good hideaway. Music was loud and made me wanna move my body.

Yelp
Dear owner... bad business to sit at your bar & get drunk and push out the paying gays who live around the corner #Scooter

Yelp
No food service as of our visit, but we were told it was starting very soon. A good small bar just off the end of the Eastern Market area next to a small butcher complex. Good beer and alcohol selection, great old time looking bar and bar back area, and polite staff who chat just the right amount for a friendly time drinking. I am looking forward to the food service. One note, the bathroom has been very dirty on two of our visits.

Yelp
World Cup at Thomas Magee's? Never! Don't go here unless you want to pay a $20 cover and have the owner be a dick when you question $20 when there is only 1 person there....and it's a snooze fest. Wandered into PJ's Lagerhouse in Corktown where they happily turned the game on and promptly served us breakfast beer. A little hospitality goes a long way. #worldcupatPJs #dontbeadick #goUSA

Yelp
I felt so unwelcome here! The bartender was so rude it was shocking. I came here with a small group to chill and watch the game. My boyfriend ordered an $18 double shot of whiskey and we were chatting at our table when she came up to us and demanded that all 4 of us order drinks immediately or leave. I was about to order a beer and my boyfriend definitely would have ordered more drinks, but we were offended at the way she approached us and we closed our tab right away. One other person was our designated driver and another didn't feel like drinking since we had already been drinking for awhile. There were literally 6 other people in the bar other than us. I'm sure this place is great if you're a regular. If you're a new customer and you want to take your time ordering drinks, don't bother.
google avatar

Yelp
I've gone back. It's gotten better. Even bought a scarf. It is what it is. The English beers are a plus. Service has improved dramatically. The owners are trying hard to make it a good place.

Yelp
I've been to Thomas Magee's for many reasons on many occasions. Perhaps the best part about the bar is its versatility. First, if you're a Liverpool supporter (I'm not) you can watch the matches on their TVs. They also televise MSU games (Go Green) and pretty much every other sporting event available. My bar league soccer team comes here before or after matches to enjoy a drink. The bartenders are almost always very quick and give service with a smile. The vibe is usually chill, and when we come in on Tuesdays for our games they have an acoustic guitar act with a range of songs. Last week we even heard Lorde after hearing all country a couple weeks before. I've been here on nights where they open the back area to allow for dancing (and more seating/TVs). Some nights the jukebox goes, others there's a DJ set up on the stage. A really interesting aside - they don't sell food but you can bring it in. Stache, located next door, will actually make and deliver your order to your table! The drink pours are generous and prices are solid. Check them out because they're always hosting events. I'm sure they have something for you.

Yelp
Came here on a Thursday night to watch the game. The bouncer was very nice but the bartender was a bitch. One of the people I was with was the designated driver and I had already dranken enough so I drank a water. The other two people ordered a drink to share and one of them asked for the draft menu, but the bartender demanded that me and the DD get drinks or get out with no explanation even though the bouncer was fine with two of us not drinking and there was no one there. It was annoying and the whiskey that was $19 was also not very good according to the two who drank it. Super horrible service and not very good drinks. DONT COME.
google avatar

Nathan S.

Yelp
Liverpool supporters' bar, yuck. As a United Supporter it hurt me to visit lol. That said, I wouldn't personally go back again as they don't have food options. It's a decent meet up spot maybe before going to an actual pub.
google avatar

Linda N.

Yelp
I don't what took me so long to come here!! Love, love, love this place!! I was having such a wonderful time I didn't get a chance to take any pictures but next time I will be sure to. Drinks are great, friendly staff and cool space. Looking forward to checking it out again to see some of the live music.
google avatar

Yelp
Great spot for Reggae, but dey no dance. Much love for Roots Vibration for the great vibe.
google avatar

Betsy K.

Yelp
Rare gem of a sports bar by Eastern market. Friendly staff & clientele, great drinks. No food- not even a peanut. But they let you get delivery from local restaurants. We ordered a great pizza ( can't remember the place) & someone at another table ordered Chinese. They're having a "meat & greet" tomorrow. They'll have grills and you bring your own meat to grill. Cool place to watch a game or just hang out.
google avatar

Taylor A.

Yelp
What can I say? I just love this bar. There's no fancy food options or a strong hipster vibe, it's a pub. A proper Detroit pub. Whiskey and beer. And sometimes that's all you need! (But they will let you bring in food, if you need something to hold you over). The owner is fantastic and is usually around, the prices are solid for a downtown pub, the selection of beers and whiskeys is solid, I've never had a bad experience here. They go out of their way to host local Premier League supporters groups, they're a credit to the Detroit pub scene. 10/10, stop in for a cold one and hang out for a bit. You'll enjoy it, if pubs are your thing.
google avatar

Brian K.

Yelp
First things first; English Joe knows how to pour a proper pint of Guinness! This is a bar. No food. Clean, and friendly. Live music with talented musicians. You need to experience this place!! Right across the freeway from the Eastern Market in Detroit. Street parking, but pretty close to he bar. Great selection of alcohol.
google avatar

Phoebe J.

Yelp
This is such a great neighborhood spot! We love the gorgeous woodwork inside.. the super friendly staff (and awesome owner, Eric!) .. and the wide selection of Michigan craft beer and fabulous spirits! There are so many TVs- it's super fun to come here and watch the game!
google avatar

Kaleend D.

Yelp
Awesome sports bar. They display live soccer EPl games for Liverpool fans and have a good selection of drinks. Didnt see any food options but it was over packed when i went there. Love the atmosphere and would go there again and again.
google avatar

Heather K.

Yelp
No better spot to watch a game in Detroit!!! My friend and I watched the Croatia vs. England World Cup game here and even though the place was packed with England fans, we had a blast! The vibe was great, the crowd was fun, the bartenders were super cool, the drinks were strong (and cheap), the game was on every TV and over the speakers, seriously what else could you possibly want?!?
google avatar

Stacey E.

Yelp
This is the perfect Detroit dive bar. It's dark, sort of run down and full of interesting characters. Everything in this area shuts down on Sunday/Mondays so this is a good option when all else fails.
google avatar

Andrew M.

Yelp
Place is awesome. Visiting from Cali and went there after the lions game. Cool people, good drinks and an amazing burger next door.
google avatar

Steve L.

Yelp
If you're a soccer fan those is the place to go, especially if your a Liverpool supporter! Great drinks and atmosphere!
google avatar

Joe B.

Yelp
I came in looking for a new spot to play steel-tip darts but no dice. I did see that they have cornhole though which is downright cool for a bar to have set up for indoor play. We came early on a Sunday and it was vacant other than the barkeep who was really friendly. The bar itself is what I picture an Irish pub looking like. Dark wood accents, rows of whiskey to choose from and football on the tele. The bartender mentioned that it's generally a pretty chill spot except for Saturday mornings with early matches on TV and the Eastern market crowd, FYI.
google avatar

Josh H.

Yelp
Decent beer list (above-decent for local stuff), great atmosphere, and literally the only live music I've ever heard that hasn't made me want to kill myself. But most importantly for us local micks, Smithwicks on tap (in November). U should patronize
google avatar

Christina S.

Yelp
Best place to get your Irish Coffee ( Erica is the BEST bartender this side of the state. Wanna catch a sporting event on TV, this is your place to go. Treat you like family or better.
google avatar

Sam B.

Yelp
This was a great experience during one of the World Cup matches. I read quite a few reviews and had high hopes when checking this place out. It lived up to the hype and more. Everyone was friendly and the service was as good as it could be for standing room only. I look forward to going back and watching another match.
google avatar

Broomhilda L.

Yelp
Gave it a few chances to change my mind. stuningly bad service and rude. No kitchen=no food. weird atmosphere. seems ec centric and crazy.. I feel lIke they dont even know who or what they are trying to become. the bar or the crazy people.
google avatar

Joe R.

Yelp
Insanely slow. Super loud. Table service is non-existent on the weekends. Hard pass on the next go around
google avatar

Nikki C.

Yelp
If you're looking for Sports & Whiskey, this is where you'll find it. Cool bartender & strong drinks. No food, but Stache International is right next door and you can order from there (during their limited hours) or anywhere else that will deliver. My complaint -- the restroom was atrocious.
google avatar

Sam Q.

Yelp
For some reason, I always forget about this bar. But every time I'm there, I always have a good time. There's a really good selection of whiskey (considering it's a whiskey bar) but I'm really impressed. They have a very unique selection of craft beers as well. There's also a side room that you can reserve for parties.
google avatar

Jim O.

Yelp
First limo stop on st pattys day with a group of friends. Great job done remodeling the inside. Every drink we ordered was a different price each time. Had to almost beg for change on each order. Five bucks for a 12 ounce draft beer in a plastic cup, a tad steep me thinks. Such a great old building that I will have to give it one more try for lunch.
google avatar

Ian S.

Yelp
When I moved to Lafayette Park I lamented that there was no good place to get a drink and watch a game. Sure, there were some decent dining options nearby (supino, sala thai, vivio's), but no neighborhood bar or watering hole. Thomas Magee's is a game-changer for Lafayette Park and Eastern Market residents. Multiple TVs with all of the channels/sport packages are a huge plus. The owner, Erik, also says that if he gets requests from a small group he will open the place up for odd hours for all of the soccer/football fans. The interior build out of the place looks great. High quality finishes and woodwork. He is also in the process of building out a game room with darts, foosball, golden tee, etc. Decently priced draught beers and also great selections of local and michigan beers and whiskey. No kitchen or cooked food yet, but you can bring your own food in, and they also sell cheap popcorn and chips.
google avatar

Jill P.

Yelp
I live nearby and this is my new favorite hangout. They pour strong drinks, everyone's friendly, lots of TVs for watching the games. On market days it seems to be full of dudes watching sports while their wives do the shopping. No food though. You can grab a pizza from Supinos or sandwiches from Russell St. and be all set. I could spend hours in here, and sometimes I do.
google avatar

Patrick N.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite bars in the greater downtown Detroit area. It's a great local neighborhood bar where you just enjoy hanging out, having some drinks and watching some sports. The owner Erik is great, and the staff is always friendly. Erik has a background in refrigeration, so the beer is always cold. The whiskey selection is incredible, and they have good knowledge about their products. Seven TVs over the bar area, plus I believe two in the side game room, every sports package, and a good sound system makes it a great place to watch any sport. They get a printout of every sporting event each morning that says which events are on and what channel, so the bartenders always know when to change the channel. In such a great sports market like Detroit that severely lacks good places to watch the game, it's refreshing to find a great sports bar. Soccer fans will appreciate the place as well, as they're willing to open early for EPL games in some situations. No food, but they do have some menus for area restaurants that will deliver, and you're welcome to bring in your own stuff. The only real negative is probably the prices, but overall they are fairly reasonable (think ~$5 for draft beer/wells). Of course, with the selection they have in whiskey, those can get expensive. They have happy hour specials 4-7 and "Whiskey Wednesdays" from 7-9.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
Lots and lots and lots of whiskey...but you probably knew that from the name. Decent beer selection, too. I have to give it a "ding" because there's no food. Yes, you can order in, but c'mon...I used to go to this place all of the time when it was a little irish pub, so I know there's a kitchen in there somewhere. If you're going to do it, do it right. You're not a brew pub, so the excuse that they use doesn't apply here. People come here to hang out for a while and have multiple drinks...some food would really make that a better overall experience. A decent enough place as it is, but lacking food is a detriment. And yes, I realize you can call in, but if I wanted to get food from someplace else, I'd be there, not here.
google avatar

Tom M.

Yelp
Came with a friend to check out this new bar he heard about. So glad I did! The barkeeps, Jody and Rocky were friendly and quick to smile. They also made a hell of an irish coffee. The decor is warm and inviting ans the music is not overly loud. Highly recommend.

John R.

Yelp
Great bar, just the bartender was very short and made it feel unwelcoming. Attitude the whole time we where there
google avatar

Nina M.

Yelp
I visited during a bar tour in Eastern Market. Thomas Magee's is a Sports bar so you will find sports on all the TVs. I enjoyed my outing and the bartender was attentive and poured heavily. They know their whiskey as I listed to the guys next to me get schooled on various types of whiskey they carry. They carry a lot. It is a small spot and pricing is comparative to other bars around downtown. If you like whiskey then this is a place to try. They also carry beer and a pretty stocked bar.

Sue P.

Yelp
Why is the phone number listed for this place on this link and website of 313-263-4342 NOT working??? A recording says this Verizon number is not working. I had a couple questions to ask....

Dino K.

Yelp
We are sitting outside with no ride! They 20° weather we're not to let us wait insideat 1 o'clock at night and still would not let us in until we found a ride we're not Recommend this place even if the drinks were FREE
