Thompson Chocolate

Placed order on February 11th paid for the 2 day shipping which was actually more expensive than the product itself and my order wasn't shipped till the 13th. This was a time sensitive order. I called and spoke to a lady and she said to call if I didn't receive it by Friday. We'll I didn't receive it Friday so I called and nobody answered either time I called. Here it is Monday the 17th I finally received the order and the product was opened inside of the package and three of the chocolates were either broken or damaged. I also tried calling once more today and nobody answered. The chocolate may taste good I'm not sure as this was a gift for someone else but I do know the customer service and packaging is not up to par at all. Definitely not impressed.

This year, I wanted to support a local business for my Easter needs. I had 4 children to think of this year. I am glad I remembered my special childhood location on Vine Street in Meriden. As a school kid, I would walk by every day and, once a week or so, stop in to buy licorice and a chocolate. This was in the 1980s. This year, I purchased over $120 in chocolates and Jelly beans online from Thompson's. They came wonderfully wrapped, and all were in excellent condition. It felt like they were packed with love.

I wish more places were like this. The loading dock lady was extremely nice. Knocked on my door when she was ready for me. Had me loaded in 15 minutes (partial load). When finished she brought the paperwork out and sealed my trailer doors. Overnight parking available. It is really tight getting into the facility. Follow the blue line to get in, red circle is the dock area, and yellow line to get out. I’d give it 10 stars if I could! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Another successful visit to my favorite local Candy Store. White, milk, dark and sugar free varieties. Bunnies, ducks, eggs, bark and more. My all-time - favorite malted milk balls were in stock too. The chocolate has a richer more creamy taste and consistency than the name brand stuff. Worth it to stop here.

You can keep Godiva chocolate or spend money for some fancy imported brand. I'll take Thompson's chocolate Easter bunnies any day of the week. And the rest of the year I'm happy to chowdown on their marzipan, candy, and chocolate. It really isn't Easter without Thompson chocolate. this was our first time back in almost 20 years and the chocolate is better than ever. It's a great place for making a special Easter memory for your children or continuing a tradition. When my daughter visits this Easter for the first time in decades she will have an Easter bunny from Thompson chocolate. Check it out.

Lovely small store to purchase chocolates. The chocolate is delicious and beautifully packaged. Great for gifting.

We just started going here a few years ago. Love the Halloween chocolates! Jackie who’s always working in the front is so sweet with our daughter.

Our family and friends look forward to getting chocolates from us every holiday season because we've shopped here for years. The chocolates are shaped here so you cannot get a tour due to the possible health and safety issues that would cause. Prices have remained reasonable. They have a large online market but their store is so cute. The old style factory building looks blah from the outside, but the inside is so clean and bright. The hours change based on the season. Office and front end staff has been there for years greeting new and returning guests. Our favorites are the bags of dark chocolate. If you want a special order, contact them and ask. Many people like their bark and ribbon candy. This far, it's always a good visit.

After recently moving to Meriden, I was driving through the neighborhood and saw this chocolate factory! I spoke with Jackie and she was happy to go over all their products with me, really nice. Stop by during different times of the year for all their seasonal treats! Very hidden shop but worth the trip!

Why did it take us so long to visit? I suppose their limited hours (Tuesday to Friday) had a lot to do with it, but we did visit today and I'm very glad we did. Why? Well, here ya go... 1) Thompson Chocolates goes way back to 1879 and has been in Meriden since Day One. They are one of the first chocolate companies in America. 2) The store is gorgeous and beautifully organized with colorful displays of chocolate bars, pops, bark, gift boxes, chocolate coins and cigars, and jellybeans. 3) We met the owner Jackie, who was one of the very nicest, friendliest, and generous business owners we've ever seen. 4) We walked into a BOGO sale of leftover Easter candies and scored a nice bag of Dark Easter Eggs and an Easter Goodie Bag for zippo 5) Jackie was super generous and tossed four gift bags of assorted chocolate into our shopping bag as freebies. 6) You get a 10% discount with your Yelp check in. 7) They have a 10% Senior Citizen discount on Wednesday and a military discount every day. 8) They have a mail order business through an on-line store. 9) We paid under $22 for a box of dark chocolate raspberry jellies, two Easter Goodie Bags, two bags of Easter Dark Chocolate Eggs, and four small mesh gift bags of assorted chocolates. One was white chocolate which will be a perfect treat for my granddaughter who won't eat milk or dark chocolate. I sure hope that gives you an idea of how great our visit to Thompson was.

Haven't been here in several years. Always loved their candy. Walked in to an overwhelming smell of a musty and mildewy store. My eyes started burning and I had to leave. My partner decided to still try the chocolate though we had concerns because of the smell. They bit into one and it was stale with a gross musty flavor. Threw them out. Hopefully, they clean up the problems and get back to the great store they once were.

Have purchased chocolates for several years from this fine candy maker. Great chocolate with excellent service from a friendly staff. Would highly recommend. Always reminds me of my childhood growing up in Meriden. Teresa B. Stratham, NH

Thompson Chocolate is tucked away on a side street in Meriden. They sell and manufacture chocolate. The store has a wide variety of chocolates that include sugar-free, as well! The boxes are well-labeled, and the prices are reasonable. I went in on Feb. 22, and they were already stocked with St. Patrick's Day and Easter candy. I bought sugar-free dark chocolate cherry cordials for myself, and a second box for a welcome gift. The staff was very friendly. I recommend coming here if you want/need to buy chocolate for a gift, or for yourself!

I always stop here when im in the mood for chocolate. Nothing beats a hometown homemade batch of chocolate. They have regular and seasonal chocolates here that are made on-site. Good prices and the employees friendly. It's small inside , but filled with plenty of treats to pick from..

I'm from Wallingford, CT and my family has been shopping at Thompson's Candy on Vine Street since my aunt from Meriden raved about it in the mid 1970's. I moved from Wallingford years ago but when I go back to visit, I always go to Thompson's for their pecan bark! (after I hit Pepe's for "abeetz") Thompson's is the best quality chocolate I've found---and it's family owned. Once you try it you'll be addicted......

Their chocolates are tasty, but their customer service is NON-EXISTENT.

Thompson Chocolate is a wonderful local candy store and manufacturer. They have chocolates for every holiday which make great gifts. They also have custom made chocolate coins which are a great promotional item for businesses. I have had the pleasure of a behind the scenes tour during a business event. The chocolate is still produced, molded and wrapped using old fashion techniques which is pretty cool. Whatever the next holiday is stop by their retail store on Vine Street in Meriden for some holiday wrapped chocolates.

Absolutely another Meriden staple! Hidden on a short sidestreet in a residential area, is where you can find the best local handmade chocolate! They always keep samples in the store, which let you try some of the favorites. Jeff and his family have got me hooked on the milk chocolate bark with nuts! They also make gift baskets and party/shower favors.

I have been receiving Thompson candy ever since I was born in 1948. Actually the Rabbit Mold they display in their showcase is what I would receive each year from my Grandfather at Easter. A big chocolate Bunny! I grew up on Thompson chocolate and when my family moved to North Carolina our relatives always sent a large box of chocolates especially their bark at Christmas. The best bark I have ever had! Now an adult when I travel back to the wonderful state of Connecticut , Thompson Candy is ALWAYS a stop!. I buy a ridiculous amount, however family and friends are glad that I do. Thompson Candy is the BEST!!

Thompson's is a local chocolate shop. The factory building often smells wonderful but they do not offer tours (wish they did). They have lots of chocolate to pick from, take credit cards, and have friendly staff who are always willing to help you if they're not already with a customer. I can often go in and find a free sample. I buy treats for my holiday candy dish, as well as gifts for my international friends to enjoy back home. The boxes and types of candy are clearly labeled with ingredients for people like me with food sensitivities. The parking lot easily holds at least 6-7 cars and there is a ramp for strollers or wheelchairs. The shop is tucked away on Vine St. across from Walgreens.

OMG the dark chocolate break-apart bar with almonds is amazing! I have never had such fresh crisp almonds in a candy bar!

Thompson Chocolates is a factory that makes chocolate plain and simple. It is delicious and offers varieties that include sugar free, dark, milk and white chocolate. It's a wonderful place to go during the holidays and during other times to purchase chocolates as gifts. The employees in the small factory store are very helpful. I highly recommend a trip there this season!

I have been coming here for over 30 years. The best chocolate, dark, milk and white. Their pecan bark is amazing. I go for every holiday. The chocolate is high quality and we are so so fortunate to have them here in Meriden. This is a local company in business for many years.......you will not be disapointed!!!!

Received this product as a gift! Delicious chocolate I'll definitely be ordering from here. If I ever find myself in Connecticut I will for sure be stopping in.

I lived across the street from Thompson Candy as a little girl. Such a great place. Definitely a must see if you visit Meriden :)
