Thonglor Express - Review - Bloomsbury - London - The Infatuation

"Thonglor Express’ all-you-can-eat lunch is like a buffet run by strict parents. The kind who make you finish your plate before reaching for more. At the Thai spot near Tottenham Court Road, line up by the counter from 2:30pm, point politely at what you want, and the servers behind the till scoop panang curry over rice and vegetarian spring rolls. When you finish the disposable bowl, you can return to the counter for as many refills as you want until 4:30pm when the buffet cuts off. The curries are creamy and piping hot, and things like fried fish is regularly topped up, making it a great-value lunch option for anyone who never gets fully satisfied from a build-your-own-salad-bowl lunch. You’ll spot friends splitting a sticky mango rice by the back, or couples sitting side by side while tucking into their tofu stir-fry. But it’s a small, casual space, and the majority of seating is solo-friendly, making it ideal for a day-off post-shopping lunch. photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch photo credit: Aleksandra Boruch" - Rianne Shlebak

Our Go-To Spot for Thai Food This Thai restaurant has become our absolute favorite whenever we’re craving something flavorful and comforting. It’s our main spot for Thai food, and it never disappoints. My personal favorite is the crab rice. It’s packed with flavor, perfectly cooked, and always hits the spot. My partner is obsessed with their mango sticky rice, and honestly, I can see why. It’s fresh, creamy, and just the right amount of sweet. Every dish we’ve tried has been consistently delicious. The staff are always so friendly and attentive, which makes the experience even better. Whether it’s a casual dinner or a craving we just can’t shake,we always find ourselves going back.

Cute little Thai cafe style place, in Middle of London, with fantastic food! I had the buffet (served between 2:30-4:30pm for £13.50) they give you the cardboard bowls and serve you from a selection of dishes at the buffet. You eat then take same bowl back for more of what you like. Personally I really liked this eco friendly idea of reusing the same bowl and then recycling it at the end AND it cuts on waste! The service was spot on, warm and friendly too. Seating was cramped ... but that just shows how good it is when your that busy 😉 overall happy customer

Such a great find in central London! The prices are incredibly good — you won’t find this kind of value anywhere else around here, and there’s no service charge either! But it’s not just the price — the food tastes just like being back in Thailand. The curry dishes reminded me of proper Thai street food, and the noodles were seriously delicious. The staff were super friendly and welcoming. I went during the buffet and also ordered an extra bowl of noodles. I paid under £30 in total and still got change back. So worth it — both for the taste and the experience. Highly recommended!

This charming little Thai eatery located just off Tottenham Court Road is a gem! Together with menu items, they offer a simple but tasty buffet for lunch. The buffet selection is fresh and varied. Staff are extremely engaging and proactive. Dining room is clean & set up for communal dining. If ever you’re in the area…. drop by!

wonderful place . The presentation of the mango sticky rice is absolutely enticing, with the vibrant yellow mango slices arranged beautifully atop the creamy white rice. The addition of a delicate mint leaf and a rose-shaped garnish adds a touch of elegance and a pop of color, enhancing the visual appeal and suggesting a thoughtful and artistic preparation. The wooden bowl complements the natural flavors of the dish, creating a rustic yet refined aesthetic. The person holding the spoonful of rice captures the anticipation of the first bite, which is a universal moment of joy for food enthusiasts. The texture of the rice looks perfectly cooked, suggesting a balance of stickiness and fluffiness that is characteristic of this traditional Thai dessert.

One of the best and most affordable Thai restaurants I’ve ever been to in London. The Yen Ta Fo and Tom Yum were perfect, with no need for any adjustments. Crab meat fried rice, very delicious. Everything was just right, and there’s no service charge. You can’t find prices like this anywhere else in London. This is a restaurant that’s both inexpensive and great quality, with incredibly delicious flavors. It’s hard to believe that there are still places in London offering food at these prices.

I went here on the same day as the Thai food festival in Coal Drops Yard. The queue for the festival was far too long in 30+ degree heat and since the food was representative of Thai restaurants in the area, why not just go to a Thai restaurant? The prices are very reasonable for London, I almost want to keep this place a secret just in case they increase. Definitely an already popular place to go, lots of options and just traditional Thai food. Being half Thai, it was nice to get a taste of home once again! I’ll be coming again at some point for the wonton soup. There is a buffet for £13.50, not bad for London.
