as much as i wanted to love this place, i just felt like the cons overweighed the pros of my experience.
-while our waitor was extremely friendly and helpful with recommendations, the food came out extremely slowly. i'm sure the kitchen tends to be swamped with orders, but waiting for almost 45 minutes for just a couple of simple dishes was really disappointing. not to mention, the wait to even get a table tends to be anywhere from 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on what time or day you decide to come by.
-when my friends and i decided to come back in october, they still had a couple of tables outside of the restaurant. however, now they're only offering indoor dining.
-both cash and card payment are accepted.

-classic eggs benedict: this is one of their most popular brunch options, which has 2 poached eggs on an english muffin with 2 slices of ham and hollandaise sauce. on the side, there are some home fries and a small slice of cantaloupe melon and orange. while the eggs were poached just the right amount, the hollandaise sauce was really offputting. it tasted way too vinegary and overpowered the entire dish. while the home fries had a good flavor, but they weren't crispy at all and even a bit soggy looking. i could only really enjoy the english muffin, which was toasted well and pretty soft on the inside. it definitely wasn't worth the total 1.5 hour wait nor the $12-13 cost. (3/5)
overall, i can't imagine coming back to thornton's anytime soon. while some of their other brunch foods sound appealing, the eggs benedict was a big letdown and not worth the price either. combined with the long waits for a table and food, the friendly service simply got overshadowed. i wouldn't really recommend the eggs benedict, but perhaps we just came on an off day.
