Where to Drink Guinness in Denver This Holiday Season | Eater

"At one end of the 32nd Street commercial corridor, Three Dogs is a corner neighborhood sports bar with a classic, old-fashioned vibe. The pub offers billiards, shuffleboard, or the chance to watch your game of choice on one of its many screens. Far from a sterile sports bar, the historic Three Dogs Tavern has hardwood floors, pressed tin ceilings, exposed brick, and in lieu of photos of regulars, the walls are covered in hundreds of portraits of dogs. On the menu: burgers, sandwiches, and shareable appetizers like pretzel bites and fried pickles. It’s a homey, chummy place to stop in after some holiday shopping and relax over a pint." - Rebecca Treon

Google
Three Dogs is an awesome bar located in the quiet and mostly calm Highlands area. I have stumbled in here quite a few times when all the other bars in the area close at 11PM or midnight since Three Dogs closes at 2AM like most bars downtown. Thank you guys for that! They have a decent selection of draft beers that seem to rotate every so often. Prices are also reasonable and are what you would expect from a sports bar. There is a bunch of TVs inside that show the various Football games going on with the Broncos one being on the main one at the bar. No matter what team you side with, they should have at least a TV showing their game.

Christina was absolutely incredible—super friendly, professional, and made the whole experience unforgettable! The rest of the staff was just as amazing—welcoming, helpful, and clearly passionate about what they do. Their merch was totally on point—great quality and style. I even won a raffle and scored some awesome swag! The customer service was flawless from start to finish. Honestly, the whole vibe was top-notch—can’t wait to go back!

Google
Great grub, awesome music, fantastic drinks, and friendly staff! It's been a long time since I've been blown away by a burger. I highly recommend the cali burger with bacon. Cudos to the chef, I will be back!

Had the best experience at Three Dogs Tavern! I was in Denver for a few days looking for the right place to watch the football game! Three Dogs Tavern is the place to go on gameday! They have multiple large TV's hanging everywhere so you can watch multiple games at once, and the best and friendliest staff I encountered while in Denver! If your looking to have a great gameday experience go meet their staff, Christina, Chelsie, Steph, Tony, Josh, Jes and LJ will not let you down! This neighborhood pub is one that you will not forget! Sending love from a Floridan!

Google
Three Dogs Tavern is the dive bar I always wanted in my neighborhood. It's well maintained, has billiards and other games, good wings, great fries, quick service, and a packed house for NFL games. It's in a walkable area (street parking). Never had problems with staff, unruly guests, drinks or food. A solid place that can easily feel like home for us rural folk living the city life.

Ross Diaz

Google
Great neighborhood bar open and serving food late. Green chili was good and thick. Nachos were some of the best bar nachos I've had in recent memory, didn't even need to add a protein

Google
I love this bar. Ed the doorman is so nice and knowledgeable about the city. The food is great and I enjoyed the Wednesday Trivia. All of the bartenders are nice and give great customer Service. Shoutout to Chelsey, Tony, Steph, LJ, Josh and Dustin. I will definitely be back.

Google
This is a neighborhood BAR. Not a place where you take children to “eat”. It sounds more like you wanted drinks and you got mad you didn’t get restaurant-level service. It just made me mad seeing this place get a bad review because the bartenders are like family. If you live in the neighborhood, they will know you by first name!

Yelp
If you are a person of color, any color, other than white this isn't the place for you. You are going to feel completely out of place. The security door person sucks. The bartenders suck. The atmosphere isn't for you. You are basically not welcome, simply semi tolerated. It's called three dog but, they definitely don't want your dog there not even on their patio. Skip do not patronize

Zachary S.

Yelp
Blows!!!! Don't go ! I was treated like sh*t, just trying to get a beer. First and last time

Andie S.

Yelp
Lowkey mid as fuck, music sucks and the workers are not very friendly except the security guard, he's cool.

Yelp
What a fun bar! Went here for an Avs playoff game with some friends and we had a great time. Huge tvs everywhere and plenty of seating. It's much bigger on the inside than it looks from the outside. The bartenders were so nice. You had to order fries at the bar which was fine but it did take awhile for it to come out. The crowd was want too young or old; a good mix of everyone. I'm excited to go back.
google avatar

Yelp
Perfect place to get a no frills drink and dinner if you want to watch a game and maybe play darts or pool. Bar service only, sweet potato fries are good same with the wings and they had a margarita on tap which was surprisingly delish

Yelp
This was my kindof bar. For the highlands it doesn't really fit the bill, but that's why I like it. Chill vibes, pool table, TVs to watch games. Food was pretty good. We got the Buffalo wings and ofc blue cheese. The gold jalapeño sauce was decent too. Brussels were fantastic, i would skip the pickle bites- the batter was too thick. Decent selection of beers too. The bartenders were super nice! Catch me here again when I have no idea where I want to go. Solid place

Casey S.

Yelp
We love three dogs! The GM is awesome and the staff always treats us well! If you want to watch a game get here early as it fills up fast
google avatar

Yelp
$2 Tuesday's are the staple of my week and I looked forward to it Wednesday-Monday! Great vibe and if you're into sports this is thee place to be! Come check out they're monster wings! I don't know who's in the kitchen but that man takes pride in his Buffalo wings! The bartending service here has such a variety here and all of them make you feel like a regular! I love 3DT's!

Yelp
Came here with a friend to play pool for a few hours. It was the one day I didn't have cash on me, but fortunately we found an ATM around the corner (inside the bar) and changed out some money for quarters. It was early in the week, so the tavern was practically empty. Lucky for us. I can imagine it gets busy during game days. Not much beer selection, but customer service is friendly. Would come back again, specifically for beer and pool!

Yelp
It's a fun spot, and you can almost always meet familiar faces or new friends. And for Denver, the prices are pretty amazing ‍

Susan P.

Yelp
Dropped in yesterday around 5:00 to get dinner. Sat at a table for nearly 15minutes until the bartender barked that it was bar service only. We were mainly looking for food and did not ask for any drinks but asked for menus. She refused to give us food menus until she id'd us. My 28yo son was with us but didn't have his id with him. Again was not attempting to order booze. We left. Save your time and money and skip this place and its rude staff.
google avatar

Cesar D.

Yelp
Fried pork buns, queso and chips were absolutely terrible,...quesadilla,...pork buns....food sucks....drinks take forever and they act like they don't approve IDs because they can't make any drinks, a guy with a beard made us THE WORST cocktail EVER...AND the "bartender" was rude af about it and checking a friend's ID, although he could not read it, and he works up the street......just a bunch of A-holes...many better places for sure.....

Yelp
Got a couple of pics for you this time (without looking too weird). We love this place. Admittedly, we still haven't eaten here, but it is Game Central, and the place to have some fun while watching sports. LJ was our bartender today, and she was handling a RIDICULOUS amount of business by the time we finished pool and closed out, and before her colleague showed up. Props, LJ. We felt like the only customers the whole time. Cool area of town, sports-following crowd, and plenty of space to spread out your group. Oh, and the "Game Side" is the other side (GTee, Buckhunter, Shuffleboard, SkiBall, etc.), but, again, I didn't want to look weird photographing people playing games. STRONG four, and it will be a five once we finally eat there. Not their fault. Great stop in if in town briefly, or living in the hood. Or, if you just want to drink and look at cute local dogs on the wall. By the way, Three Dog, I am leaving two pics of my dogs that I would like to see up there (just one of them) next time. If I see the pic, I automatically make this a 5. Definitely recommend and see you there.
google avatar

Troy L.

Yelp
Not worth your time. Staff is extremely rude and unwelcoming of people from out of state.

Becca B.

Yelp
This place was great! I came here with a larger group to celebrate a friend's birthday. The business reassured me that it wouldn't get busy until 7:30/8pm on a Saturday evening and they were right. There were games around- shuffleboard, ski ball and a few arcade games. There are a lot of dogs. I mean, a lot. To the point where it was a little quirky. All of the staff I interacted with were friendly and accommodating. The drinks had a lot of ice and were kinda weak unfortunately but the bartenders made them quickly and served them with a smile. The menu is small but tasteful. I recommend getting a burger. My partner and I got the rodeo burger and black and bleu burger. Our food came out hot and fresh. All of the burgers are cooked through with no pink (I'm not sure if they cook them any other way). The fries were fried perfectly and well-salted- mighty tasty. I dipped mine in chipotle aioli and I highly recommend trying it. Overall we liked the vibe of this place and the French fries themselves are enough of a reason to return.

Yelp
Great sports bar. Their chicken tenders are one of Denver's best! Ample bar seating, TVs and tables. During the summer they have an outdoor patio.

Sarah L.

Yelp
WE LOVE THE THREE DOGS TAVERN! I'd like to specifically call out Nick, Tony, Josh, Steph, Edrick, and Chelsea for being amazing servers. They make this place feel like the best neighborhood bar in Denver.
google avatar

Olivia Z.

Yelp
This place is good - kinda divey but not really! Happy hour deals are good. $1 off wells and draft. I've never eaten here, but they have pool which I love! I'd recommend for sports or chill vibes. No dogs allowed.
google avatar

Danielle M.

Yelp
This place is great for a few beers or cocktail of your choice. Know that they do not allow dogs on the premises but honor all the pups from the neighborhood with a wall dedicated to them. They have a pool table, large comfortable booths for crowds and a U-shaped bar that accommodates plenty of people.

Andy T.

Yelp
The staff are so kind and understanding. There was a very rude customer, very intoxicated and spilling cake. I believe the bartenders name was Josh, he was very professional with the patrons and they were completely out of line. Great sports bar I would highly recommend.

Ben S.

Yelp
My boy Josh in the kitchen is special. The food comes out dumb fast. He be cookin. Best bar in Denver.

Maddy H.

Yelp
Would not recommend coming here. We visited from out of town - came here to celebrate a birthday and the bouncer refused to let us in since ONE person had a vertical ID with a photo of their passport and he still said she was a minor and declined. This policy should really be reconsidered as everyone had a real drivers license from our home state. Understand there are different policies in other states but the rude hospitality and service was ridiculous. We have been to multiple bars/restaurants the past week with similar policies and every place has accepted.
google avatar

Daniel A.

Yelp
Went in for a bite and a beer, and the guy behind the bar was an asshole. He didn't want to even take my order but did it reluctantly and eventually I got my beer and shitty food. Asked the staff for his name, and his name was Drew. Won't be coming back.
google avatar

Linda L.

Yelp
DTen of us ages 27 to 64 stopped here to have a drink. All had IDs with the exception of the 64 year old, my husband who had lost his wallet. Everyone else was carded and gladly showed there ID. My husband was told that no one with out an ID could stay in the building. Clearly ageism. They are not following the law they are clearly rude and ridiculous.
google avatar

Charlene G.

Yelp
Three Dogs Tavern was the perfect place to watch the Warriors kick some Rockets a$$ at today's playoff game! The huge flat screen nestled in the back wall was perfect! Drinks seemed reasonably priced, with my bill being just under $15 for 2 mixed drinks and a shot on the rocks. Sonja was our server and she was awesome. TDT seems like a cool hangout with one side being tables and bar seating and the other side being more bar stools and billiards tables.

Kathryn C.

Yelp
Never going back to this place! The WORST bar food (like they shouldn't even offer it - that's how bad it is). The bouncer is rude and makes people stand in line when the bar is empty inside. Joke of an establishment! Surprised how it's still open.
google avatar

Megan J.

Yelp
Normally a great little spot to pop in for a drink and some great bar food. This time was a bit disappointing. Great bar service, drink and food delivered quickly, but the meal itself didn't meet expectations. I ordered a Reuben, lightly toasted. The meal came out quickly, bread was lightly toasted as I requested, but my favorite part of a Reuben sandwich is the flavor that's added by the sauerkraut. There was next to none on my sandwich. Very disappointing.

Yelp
If you've ever seen the 80s tv show "Cheers" that's how 3 Dogs feels to me. All of the bartenders are so nice and and some of them remember you when you come back. It really is just a comfortable neighborhood pub that makes you feel at home. Two pool tables, ski ball, Touchtunes, and some other games. And best of all, cheap drinks. $10 for a Bud pitcher! Ton of tvs that make it a great place for any game day, but you better arrive early because this place gets poppin'. I've watched the evolution of the place over the last year or so and they are almost always busy now. Really a great place that I hope sticks around for a long time. A great place to start or end a night of drinking.

Ben D.

Yelp
This place is incredible. Great drinks, great food, great service. One issue and it's a big one. The bouncer is creepy and watches over your shoulder waiting for you to do something wrong and then comes and awkwardly comments on the smallest things. I genuinely hate him.
google avatar

Vanessa V.

Yelp
For those who love the hanging out in the highlands! Nothing like a great neighborhood bar, good bar food, and bartenders that love what they do! Come in and see Brenna, Arnie or Drew for a dang good time! Feel free to cuddle up to all the amazing puppy photos also! Cheers.

Dylan E.

Yelp
Got food poisoning here both times I went (year apart from each visit). So many other amazing places to go.
google avatar

Vince M.

Yelp
Cute bartender! Cool atmosphere! Great prices! Pool tables! TouchTunes. Dead playing when you walk in! Nice place warm and inviting.

Sophy S.

Yelp
I've been going here for 1-2 years now and I am a fellow Bostonian as well. I even used to do promos here and loved it. But as of recently there is one staff member that is always so rude to me. (Drew) I've told the bar manager multiple times but he says he can't do anything because he makes the most sales. And after he said that I realize that whenever I close out my tab there's never an itemized receipt with it. So now I have a suspicion that he may be overcharging customers. This bartender knows that I work in the industry at a nearby bar but is still a complete asshole to me to the point where he has made me cry multiple times. On one of the occasions I was working 6am-10pm. All I wanted was a beer after work and after attempting to get a second beer (that someone else wanted to pay for) he yelled at me and said "you're done!" I don't know what else to do at this point. I've tried my best to not write a bad review but this has gone too far as I've told the Manager my multiple bad experiences yet nothing has changed. If you have a short male bartender named Drew that's him. I would advise not going there when he's working. He's the worst.
google avatar

D H.

Yelp
Note sure why so many low ratings, I really liked Three Dogs. Large square bar in the center of many dining tables on one side and high top tables on the other. Wooden bar top with small rail. Wooden bar stools with back support and a brass foot rest. Back bar is nice with arches, tap,s & mirrors. Food was average, but doesn't knock it down from four stars. A pool table and shuffleboard provide some entertainment.
google avatar

Bethany C.

Yelp
This place sucks. Service sucks. Bartenders are assholes. Foods terrible. Drinks are Shit. Servers are perverts. I would never recommend coming here.

Hannah H.

Yelp
Rude staff. We left within minutes after being treated poorly by every employee we encountered. Save your money haha

Claire L.

Yelp
cool bar but triple charged me for a drink I had. Tried to clean it up with a bartender and he was incredibly rude, said that they never ever make mistakes and add extra drinks to tabs ever, it took a notable amount of time to get it fixed and I left thinking he thought I was lying. Know your supporters or check your security cameras if you're going to try to avoid refund
google avatar

Quincy L.

Yelp
A negative star would be more suitable. If you're in the mood to be ignored by the 1 and only server they have on a Saturday night it's for you!
google avatar

Allen M.

Yelp
We enjoyed the Alabama beat down there and had a great time. The service and food were phenomenal. As recommended by a local, we went with the chicken fingers. It seemed a bit of an odd recommendation; but we went with it and weren't disappointed. Plenty of televisions and a good drink selection.
google avatar

Ty D.

Yelp
Let's start off with parking....Absolute nightmare. It's located in a neighborhood with permit parking. Have fun driving around the block for an hour looking for one of the few 3 hour parking spots. Are they open? Most likely. They don't believe in lights though so it's always dark inside. So dark you need your phones flashlight to read the menu. The food? Mediocre. Fingers went through the bottom bun of my hamburger. It was so soggy. The beers are cheap though so 2 stars for that!

Meg M.

Yelp
Worst. Alabama bar. Ever. Today was the final straw. All season it's been mediocre at best. The service is really hit and miss, the food is pretty poor, but it's a cool neighborhood bar with good drinks and decent atmosphere. We've had horrible servers and food all season but I've resisted posting a review about this because it's a Bama bar that's three blocks from my house. Three Dogs: You aren't even playing the f$@&ing Iron bowl??? One of the biggest games of the YEAR? Really?? This bar is a pathetic excuse for a Bama bar in Denver. They don't deserve that flag outside. Lackluster food, rude servers, all around pitiful and inadequate. Auburn, you can have them next year.
google avatar

Angela F.

Yelp
So disappointed in this place. I live two blocks away, been to Three Dogs at least a dozen times and have yet to have a good experience. The bartenders are beyond rude, they act like we're (meaning the patrons) are lucky to be there, let alone get service. They are typically understaffed so there's one person servicing the entire bar and restaurant - so slow. The food is also sub par - and lastly, how are you gonna call yourself "Three Dogs Tavern" and not even allow dogs?
google avatar

Nicole C.

Yelp
Service quite frankly sucks. Bartender (Sam) was very rude, didn't care to get our food or drink orders. We waived her down and asked for drinks and she responded "when I have a minute". Salad was mediocre, but will not be returning if I see Sam B. At the bar.
google avatar

Jason J.

Yelp
Three Dog isn't terrible, but it isn't great either. The food is decent, but overpriced. The drinks are good, with a decent beer selection, but again it's overpriced. I love the atmosphere, but that's just a personal preference. I think it looks great and feels great. They've got games and tvs, so there is always something going on. The crowd is never excellent, but it's never terrible. There's usually a fair amount of talent so it's good for at least a couple beers. But it's definitely not a bar at which you want to spend your entire night.
google avatar

Karen S.

Yelp
Fun local spot to watch a game and daily drink specials- dog owners, bring in a pic of your pooch for their wall and get a free shot!

Jack F.

Yelp
Bartender did not let us stay in the restaurant because one of us had a vertical ID. It's a rule and understandable I guess but he was not polite whatsoever. Made us feel stupid for walking past the signs and still asking. Not a great policy in my opinion and I can attest to the other reviews of the bartender with the beard's bad attitude.
google avatar

Elle G.

Yelp
This is the slowest bar and wait staff ever. Waited half an hour in line to get drinks. The place wasn't clean, dishes just sitting on the table, and no one came by to take a food order.
google avatar

Donna B.

Yelp
I come here because it is the Official New England Patriots bar in Denver. Unfortunately, food and service are lousy. Servers are random, they don't appear to have set stations so you have about 4 different servers over the course of your visit. We have been here an hour so far and have already had 4. Problem is, they don't have any idea what you are drinking and whether you ordered food. Today we ordered boneless wings and Brussels sprouts. Bones wings are actually chicken nuggets. And while the idea of sprouts, butter bacon and kale is amazing, the execution falls short. Overcooked and too salty. May even be frozen Brussels sprouts. They have been out is sweet vermouth - and my drink is a manhattan. They are tied to a contract, so they are at the mercy of their supplier (and the good planning of whomever places orders. Too bad taking care of customers cannot come first! They say they have free wifi, but it is SLOOOOOW. Not worth your time. Hopefully, Pats Fans can find a friendlier bar next year.
