The 12 Best Restaurants In Virginia Beach - Virginia Beach - The Infatuation

"Three Ships Coffee has a few locations in Virginia Beach, along with their own roastery to produce small batches of seasonal coffee. The location in the creative district is full of old nautical decor and serves excellent coffee and pastries. Come in the morning and you’ll get hit immediately with the smell of fresh-baked biscuits, which you should order as a vessel for a breakfast sandwich with eggs and bacon, or with a simple pot of butter and jam." - anne cruz

I really enjoyed the coffee here. I went to other local coffee shops around town, but this one was the standout. There was a wonderful barista with so much knowledge and passion about the coffee she was making that I ended up bringing more people. It was voted the best coffee place on our trip. If this shop was located at my city, I’d be a daily customer. Can’t wait to try the beans I also purchased.

I was really disappointed with my recent visit. This place has gone significantly downhill since I was here last year. Previously, the biscuit sandwich was excellent—crispy, fresh bacon, a perfectly cooked egg, and a fluffy, flavorful biscuit. This time, unfortunately, everything felt subpar and not worth the $50 I spent when bringing my family w/ me from out of town. The bacon and egg both tasted like they’d been microwaved and not good quality, and the biscuit was undercooked and had a strange texture. It honestly reminded me of a frozen breakfast sandwich. I still love the atmosphere and the decor—they’ve created a great space, the coffee was great too—but that only goes so far when the food quality has dropped this much. I would suggest dropping the food from the menu or go back to the original quality I had last year. Not sure if the cook or vendor changed or simply price cuts.

Cute spot. The available coffees were limited to one ready and one pour over. Both coffee blends available on offer seemed to be strong flavors. I was hoping to try more of a house medium blend so I could see if we wanted to buy some grounds as well and was disappointed with what was available so I opted for a chai. My husband got a vanilla latte. It tasted horrible. The chai tasted like it was a powder blend. It had a bitter chalky flavor. The service was slow and not very pleasant especially when I went back to ask for a drink remade because it tasted bad. We try to support local whenever possible but I wouldn't recommend this cafe.

Google
This location of three ships is the best. Truly a great place for exquisite coffees, pastries, and an occasional bite to eat. It is a bit off the beaten path, but well worth the trip. We’ve been on vacation since last week & it's our 6th time coming here. The mocha and iced Pungo latte have been our favorites!

Friendly and chill at this location. Love atmosphere here. Iced Oat milk latte and iced matcha latte with seasonal house made syrup (blackberry). Delicious

Came to work and wanted to not be at a chain spot. Not disappointed as it was tucked away and had a nice chill vibe. Coffee was decent but wasn't sure which brew I was getting as they sell coffee for home use. Got biscuits which were made fresh. Bench seating could have used some pillows but overall loved the spot and the staff.

Google
Some of the most well informed baristas with a wonderful variety of single origin coffee. Oh yeah and refills on in house mugs, so feel free to relax and sip. Will definitely be telling friends about this place.

Google
first time at this location and we weren’t disappointed! Beautiful space and our barista (missed their name but had glasses and curly hair!) was super pleasant and suggested the perfect modification for our latte :) thank you!

Yelp
Pros: This place takes a lot of pride in making things fresh and in-house, from their biscuits and pastries to their syrups. Plus, they source their coffee locally and even roast it themselves, which adds a nice touch of quality and care. Cons: They have a set menu that changes monthly or seasonal meaning you can't customize drinks or order past favorites once the menu rotates. While this keeps things creative and seasonal, it can be frustrating if you find something you love and can't get it again. Unfortunately, that was a downside for me, so I likely won't be returning. Also, it is on the pricey side.

Yelp
Sippin' & Spillin' Sunday: The Piña Colada Cold Brew Catastrophe Today's Sip & Sunday was... a hot mess. Literally. 96° outside and STILL got served cold brew chaos We finally made it to Three Ships after last week's oceanfront madness -- and I had high hopes. Tried their Piña Colada Cold Brew (cold brew + pineapple juice + coconut cold foam) and y'all... the acidity made the foam CURDLE. Like actual curds floatin' in my cup I took one sip and said "absolutely not." Then I gave their Banana Hammock Latte a shot. Cute name, but not the flavor. Too much milk, not enough coffee, and when I asked if it could be made with cold brew instead? They said nope -- no menu changes allowed ‍ Even the biscuit, which they make in-house, was a no from me. Heavy, not flaky, just... meh. But the worst part? Another spot we tried before that wasn't even dog friendly. Huge "NO PETS ALLOWED" sign on both doors. So Lexi had to go back to the car, AC blasting, while it's nearly 100° outside. That broke my heart Best part of the day? The kind girls working the counter and the beautiful café interior. But both coffees hit the trash FULL. Not even two sips in. Wasting money on mid coffee and being turned away with Lexi? Not a vibe. #SipAndSunday #BougieBTReviews #VirginiaBeach757 #HamptonRoadsEats #7CitiesFoodie #LexiTheBougieBT #BostonTerrierTikTok #DogFriendlyPlease #TooHotForThat #CoffeeFail #TikTokHonestReview

Yelp
No cash !!! They didn't sell me coffee. They didn't accept my money. My wallet got stolen , I just wanted to have some coffee with United States official currency, US Dollars. They want only bank card. I left with empty hands

Yelp
Super cute inside - weird location in a corporate office park. Looked closed from the outside so they may want to get a sign for the door, almost drove away. They only do light roast coffees and it really shows. The pumpkin spice latte was very acidic and bright, not much spice. The biscuit was very crumbly and more dense cakey texture instead of flakey. The oatmeal crème pie cookie was super hard and overly sweet. I took a few bites and stopped. Coffee bean prices range but I enjoy you can see the roast date and can get it ground in person. The staff member wasn't super knowledgeable and a customer had to chip in with their opinion when we were asking for suggestions. She was very friendly though.

Yelp
This Three Ships Coffee's inland might be a bit off the beaten path from their Virginia Beach spot, but it's worth the trip. The exterior could use a refresh and the location use more foot traffic, BUT the coffee makes up for it. PLUS they have stickers!

Yelp
It was my first time at this location. Arrived 30 minutes before closing. There was a group of customers before us and only one person working, so we had to wait a bit to order. The drink was ready quickly though. Got the double pumpkin which is an iced pumpkin milk latte with pumpkin cold foam from the fall menu. It tasted good but it was pricey. There's indoor and outdoor seating. The vibe seems chill. Parking lot is small but was able to find a spot.

Yelp
Such a cute spot! I enjoyed my coffee with their peaceful and beautiful decor. Make sure to try out their pastries as well, the Spinach and Feta croissant was quite yummy! Crispy outside and soft inside! The ladies who worked this morning were very accommodating and gave us recommendations. This place has very authentic chai tea latte, sweet and spicy! I ordered the seasonal cinnamon and apple latte and it was delicious! Highly recommend for you to try them out and look through their merchandise as well!

Yelp
Came here on an off day to work on some personal projects. I loved this location as it was quiet and brought me much focus and peace. The staff was friendly and recommended I try a pastry with my coffee. I ordered the Peach sign made with Pungo peach syrup as an iced latte and a pop tart adjacent pastry that was filled with Nutella and iced with sprinkles. Both the latte and the pastry were tasty. Overall, I thought the location was nice and I left feeling very productive and refreshed. I will most definitely visit here again.

Yelp
Stopped in when looking for an alternative to Starbucks. The service was excellent. The baristas were friendly and helpful. The place is cute and has plenty of seating. The coffee was good but not stellar and was a bit overpriced. Would be willing to give them a second try to support our local businesses.

Yelp
Overpriced. Over $8 for a 12 oz iced drink. Tasted sour, no flavor of shot. Wah, wah, wahhhhh..... "Hip" space otherwise. For students who's parents pay for stuff I guess. Try Bodega Cafe! Great latte plus cookie for the same price as just a small iced latte from 3 Ships! Best cookie I've had in ages, only $2!

Yelp
I wanted to see what the VB coffee scene was like and had heard a lot about Three Ships. The pros: easy parking, super friendly service, and immaculate vibes! I wasn't able to sit and stay for this first time around, but the space is set up to accommodate a nice coffee date/alone time with a good latte & a book. The cons: rather overpriced coffee. I tried a flavored latte with oat milk and by the time I was swiping my card, I was paying $10+ for a 12 oz iced latte. I understand that good quality coffee costs good money...however, I thought what I paid was a bit much. At first I thought I was overreacting but I've paid less before at specialty coffee shops in LA or even Richmond. Would I come again? Maybe to treat myself, yes. Regularly? Wouldn't be wise.

Yelp
This coffee spot is so cute. It's quietly tucked into a side street. They roast their own beans on site, make home made treats, and are insanely friendly when you walk in. The coffee isn't as good as I'd like... for how fresh/local it is, I'd hoped it would taste better, but it's not bad. I'm happy to "shop local" and return any time :)

Yelp
Coffee was great! I ordered this "Pizza Melt" though it was pretty bad. If you are going to charge such a high price for it at least make sure it tastes good. I didn't eat all day and was very hungry but I couldn't even finish it because of the taste. Was soggy and the bread wasn't very good. Honestly should be taken off the menu. Again, great coffee and atmosphere, love the music, just felt like I got robbed for the food (edit: I changed this review up I sounded kinda harsh)

Yelp
Such a fun coffee shop! Cortado was great. They also sell bags of their coffee beans which we can't wait to try at home!

Yelp
The service and coffee was great! I truly wish we had a place like this. I would highly recommend this place to folks who are in the area.

Yelp
Hidden away off the main path where no one would find it unless you're out looking specifically for this coffee shop. What we found was a very cute coffee place with a very limited menu. They make their coffee in small batches - I had a honey vanilla latte which was delicious, however when my husband asked for something plain in a light roast, they only offer 1 coffee of the day and it was a foo foo combination of lemon and other flavors. For this reason we wouldn't go back. I feel every coffee shop should always offer at least one coffee which isn't flavored for those who don't want all that jazz. The server was energetic, helpful, and very friendly.

Yelp
I have always been a fan of Three Ships and am loving their new location! Such a cozy atmosphere accompanied by delicious coffees, teas, and food. To top it all off their employees are so nice and accommodating. Already cannot wait to come back!!

Yelp
Three Ships' coffee is a beautiful experience. Lovely coffee - try their almond milk! - roasted to perfection on site. Been a fan for some time - don't miss it!

Yelp
I've been to their other location by the beach before - this is only their second location, which just opened. Three Ships consistently has THE BEST coffee in VB, and is probably the best in Hampton Roads too. This new location is big and really cool. Lots of food options and of course the coffee is delicious. There's a huge roastery in the back where you're sometimes able to see them freshly roasting the best local coffee.

Philip M.

Yelp
CASHLESS BUSINESS HERE! I met one of my clients here to try something new in the VB area. The atmosphere is boring and lack luster as other reviews state correctly, felt like we were the only ones there in an empty soundless room(box). I ordered and the girls(employees) said that they don't do macchiatos there so I ordered a double espresso at over $4. I broke out a $20 bill only to be shut down immediately with a credit card ONLY policy, so I paid with my credit card and still tipped staff 25%. But really?!?, as long as Biden taxanomics are your policies, we will not be back or recommend this business with no CASH options available.

Melissa R.

Yelp
Excellent service and a great cup of coffee. I stop in whenever I'm nearby and I am never disappointed.

Joshua N.

Yelp
Small batch coffee from different regions. This shop has a minimalistic charm to it and plenty of seating. You can see the coffee roasting area, and they've got a decent selection of varieties to choose from. The Pongo Latte usually has a seasonal flavor, give it a try!

Zachary K.

Yelp
I ordered a cold brew that had cream in it. It was $6.69 for seemingly 5-6 sips: I can't emphasize how overpriced the drink was for the serving size and the taste was very ok. The saving grace was friendly staff. Three ships has a lot of potential, just need to lower the prices or increase serving size.
