Three Uncles

I visited this new-ish location for lunch on a Thursday. There was a small queue to order but it wasn’t overly busy. It is a notably large space with plenty of seating (see pics), and with many customers getting take away it was quite easy to find a seat. I came in planning to try the roast duck but was told it would be a 15-20 min wait, so I went for the Hainan chicken instead. This was nice enough, the chicken was tender and juicy, but having had the duck before there was no contest - the duck was way better. I also tried the lamb dumplings and these were very good. I paid £20 for my lunch. Overall a more comfortable and spacious location versus Liverpool Street and I’ll be back to try the duck next time.

St Paul's Branch (on Old Bailey) Was recommended to try here by a colleague and have not looked back since. Initially, I tried the 3 meat (Roast Duck, BBQ Pork and Crispy Pork Belly) combo and in doing so, discovered my favourite (and default go to) - The Crispy Pork Belly. It's always served hot and fresh with addictively crispy skin adorning juicy, tender pork meat - delicious! It comes with a substantial portion of Steamed Jasmine Rice, Pak Choi, a splash of soy and a pot of yummy chilli vinegar (you can also purchase additional sauce pots for a £1 a pop). They also serve Hainan Chicken, Lo Mein Noodles with meats and a range of Dim Sum items. It gets super busy at lunchtimes but queues move quickly and the food is cooked in batches to ensure its as fresh as possible - the longest time I have ever had to wait (once i might add) was 15 mins and I was advised in advance so chose to wait as I knew nothing else would satisfy my appetite Maureen runs the show at this branch - from taking orders and calling out pick ups, to assisting with service. She ensures this branch is run like a well oiled machine and yet will engage in conversation during quieter moments. There's seating for those who wish to eat in, with the food served in the same box containers as used for takeaway's .

Excellent food. We particularly liked the Lo Mein. My wife got teary-eyed too because they are the closest thing she's to the noodles she used to have in Singapore. The roasted meats were as good as ones you get in fancy restaurants. The staff were friendly and very quick! They recommended the plum sauce for the duck and it was lovely. Better get there early as they can get packed and there are limited seats. In any case they have good and sturdy takeaway boxes.

An incidental finding, and a simple and cheerful place (as for City of London living standard). Quite clean and tidy. The food is in the cupboard takeaway box. I ordered pork belly and find it a bit fattening. Generally, all good. My husband enjoyed his combo order.

We raced to get here before the lunchtime queue, and thankfully it wasn’t too long and moved quickly. I ordered the Hainan chicken with rice, which was incredibly satisfying and comforting. The chicken was beautifully tender and subtly seasoned, and the accompanying sauces added just the right lift to tie everything together. Portions were generous, and the staff were friendly and efficient. No sooner had I placed my order than my food was ready. A great spot for a quick, delicious lunch.

Nice Cantonese Restaurant, the restaurant owner also speaks Cantonese. Everything feels authentic. Portion size is on the smaller side but both the Barbecued pork and duck are worth trying. 值得再嚟👍

Here for the week, right next to Old Bailey. Good to get your roast pork and char siu fix. Good rice portion size and you get some Chinese veg along with some sauce of your choice. I went for the chilly oil! Price wise comparable with being in the city centre.

Portion sizes were small for the price — we ordered three dishes for two people and I was still quite hungry after. Food tasted fine overall, but you can get better value elsewhere. Service was good — they frequently refilled our water.
