Where to Throw the Perfect Bachelorette Party in Dallas

"With a bit of a vintage speakeasy vibe and two distinct drinking spots, Clover Club is a fun place to drink, dance, and chill on a rooftop. On the second floor, take in live jazz while feasting on steak and sipping the bar’s namesake cocktail, a frothy mix of gin, lemon, raspberry, and egg white. Upstairs, hit the (heated) rooftop patio for mezcal margaritas with a view." - Rachel Pinn

If I could rate this place a zero I would. First, I only came here because family members came from out of town and was meeting people here. The front door charged them 20$ for no ID then on top of that another 20$ to get in. The front door ladies are so rude and classless. I literally saw the security guard violently throw a man out the club and he landed on his stomach. Secondly, the bar service was horrible. I guess the people that go there don’t drink or can’t afford it because the bar was dry and lifeless. I ordered a Tequila Pineapple. It was so sweet no alcohol and was 20$. The bathrooms were disgusting and all the sinks didn’t work. Literally I could smell weed from the street and my throat was burning from inhaling all the weed in the building. This girl was carried out by her friends because she was incoherent and inebriated. This place is a mess, I’m surprised it’s not shut down. Also, we left early because a fight was about to happen.

Do not come this bar, service is horrible and I got a blank look when I asked for a sangria. Ordered a margarita instead with a shot of tequila on the side. The margarita was so overpowering sweet that it was almost undrinkable. The shot was given to me in a glass that had lipstick all over it. Totally gross and I hope this teview saves others from waisting their time here.

Front door was very shady and rude, told me I could not wear my sandals unless I paid $20 on top of my $20 fee to get in. I physically cannot wear HEELS, but I had cute sandals on and they referred to them as "slides". We were downtown for a play/performance at Moody Performance Hall and THEY did not have a problem with my shoes. Anyway, ya'll can keep your little club, we have frequent guests from out of town and we will not recommend you to anyone. Thanks but NO thanks!

Yelp
I visited this new nightclub with my boyfriend on a recent trip to Dallas. I don't go to nightclubs very often, but we had a great time here. The decorating theme is really up to date. They are going for an upscale Vegas style, and I definitely think they achieved it. The coolest thing is that the ceiling actually ripples along with the bass, like it is a pond! It looks like it is made from a special stretchy material. There is a good sized round bar that is part of the nightclub, and we stayed here for a portion of the night. It's a cozy room, and it is a more laidback alternative to the main room of the nightclub. It seems like a good place for people to come relax with some good music after a long work week. We will definitely try to return next time we travel to Dallas.

Yelp
Looks like a cool place once you walk in. But there is a super funky smell that they are trying to mask and it made me almost sick. Drinks are over priced. Bartender was nice, didn't try any food but people were eating.

Yelp
Five stars to the most underrated lunch buffet in downtown Dallas. For $10 (including tax and tip, but not drink), I challenge anyone to come up with another place downtown where you can get absolutely stuffed on decent food. It's a nice setting (some complain that the lighting is too dark, but I think it's fine), the staff are friendly, and the food is good. They serve Asian food Mondays; BBQ Tuesdays; Tex-Mex Wednesdays; southern food Thursdays; and Italian Fridays. I work nearby and had excluded it from my rotation for awhile, but it's definitely back in.

Yelp
11 AM and we were the only ones there. They said they were open, seated us, but this place was in no way prepared for customers. The only reason we went was we'd heard the lunch buffet was pretty good. It looks like they've stopped doing that. First, takes 5 minutes after being seated to take a drink order. Coke came out flat, tea came out over-brewed. Second, only part of the menu was available. That tells you they aren't ready to take orders. Third, left after thirty minutes of sitting in an empty restaurant, listening to the DJ next door play the first minute of every song he bought back in 2003. If they had just said they weren't open, we could have accepted that and moved on. Instead, they said they were and sat us down. Probably dodged a bullet by leaving, if the food was anything like the service. I figure they never bothered to start cooking it but just waited us out. Congratulations. You won.

Yelp
So in the morning the restaurant serves a breakfast buffet. It comes with you typical items, eggs, sausage, bacon, bagels, some pastries, waffles, pancakes, French toast, fruit, juice and coffee. Everything is premade and typically sits on the steamers for awhile, the place isn't that busy so the quality of food is quite poor especially for $15 dollars a person. The only reason why I ate here was because my boss was a platinum rewards members so breakfast was free with our stay, otherwise I probably would not have eaten here if I had to pay out of pocket. On a brighter note, the staff here is great, since the place wasn't very busy, the waitress here were very attentive, always refilling up my coffee and juice and removing the plates in a timely manner after I finished my food.

Yelp
This is the restaurant in the Crowne Plaza, where I stayed on my recent trip to Dallas, so I ate here a couple times, once for brunch and once for dinner. Dinner was ok, I thought the food was a bit bland but it was fine. The breakfast was a big disappointment though. For $13.95 it was really what I would call "continental plus" instead of a full hot buffet - there were a few bins of hot things, like little pre-made omelets, but mostly it was fruit, bread products and a make your own waffle machine...that is, exactly the kind of breakfast that many hotels offer for free. I thought the food was all pretty terrible too, everything was stale and tasted old. The reason this is a 3 star review instead of 2 is that the staff was super kind, especially to our baby. At brunch they made her plain scrambled eggs at no extra charge. I really really appreciated that!

Daryl D.

Yelp
The best thing about Thrive is the waitresses; I saw only 2 during dinner service, but they are kind and hard-working. The wait for my food took 90-ish minutes (it was a veggie burger...). It wasn't hot when it came which was quite sad. The burger was fine but the patty was pretty meh (ostenscibly not made in house). Fries were mostly fine but somewhat soggy. Alsoooooo, there was no background music. I never realized this, but when it is absent, it is weird. I did not feel comfortable without a constant sheath of music to drown out conversations from across the restaurant. Finally, too pricy. Improve your food if you want to charge these prices. Not thriving at the moment.

Yelp
I was given a voucher to eat breakfast here when I checked in to my hotel room. The breakfast buffet is currently priced at $13.49. My biggest struggle was how dark it is. Imagine eating breakfast in a nightclub. At 7:45am it's pretty empty and really really dark. The food was actually pretty good. I thought the fruit was going to be iffy. It was actually fresh and juicy, but I just couldn't see it from the lighting. The coffee is bearable. The southwest egg scramble was good. They make omelette and eggs to order if you want something prepared fresh for you. I already had my plate of food when I found out about the omelettes/eggs.

Yelp
What a rip off and waste of time this place was. We went Saturday night for a birthday party. We tried to get in before 11 so we didn't have to pay a cover. It's a huge pet peeve of mine, why would I pay you, to come in and pay for your marked up drinks, but being a birthday party we had to go. We were there with time to spare to get in before 11... Until the bouncer decided he wanted to have a long talk with a guy about his shirt being too long, before he finally pulled him aside to tuck it in and stop holding up the line. Then we go to the hostesses, the only people in front of us had to all decide who was getting in as the guests for the tables they rented and who was with who. So by the time they took them all to their tables and turned their attention on us, it cost us $25 to get in the place. I saw them escort plenty of people to tables but not us. They tried to give us mediocre directions, that didn't help us. I didn't want to sit and dirty the wrong table, so I went back and specifically asked the girl I knew was showing people to their tables. to SHOW me to mine, and she couldn't be bothered. She just gave better directions than the first girl. To the wrong table... Yes, it is a pretty small place, but the "booths" are like going to a hibachi place and sitting with strangers at the table. There are technically 2 tables per booth, so when you rent a table, you are only getting half the booth. Seating for about 6 people. This 3 bottle package for $300 they offer... What a joke!! You get a set vodka, a set champagne and one bottle of your choice. My sister is picky so she didn't want whatever cheap vodka they were peddling for the package so I don't know exactly what it was. She paid another $50 to upgrade to Ciroc. I expect $100 a bottle for bottle service, so it's not the price that's the issue, but the quality. In the end it cost her $150 just for the bottle of Ciroc. But the BEST part of that bottle package... Wycliff Champagne... You know it, the $6 bottle of champagne you see at Walmart. The one with the screw cap and the plastic popper inside in lieu of a cork... Where in restaurants it's kept out of sight in the bar for mimosas only. That's what you get for $100!!! I've worked in the restaurant industry all my life, I know the mark-ups, I know the percentages and I can balance a mean P&L report, but that is just UNCALLED FOR! They should be ashamed of themselves. You couldn't even give a $20 bottle of champagne with a nice label, cork and name that isn't associated with the cheapest of the cheap for $100? It's disrespectful to your customers that you think so little of them to charge so much for such poor, pathetic quality.

Yelp
Waited in line while the doorman ate cake and hit on underage girls. When we finally got in, there were six people inside and the bartender didn't know how to make a dry martini.

Yelp
Before we even stepped foot in the club, I read all the reviews and went to the website. On their website, I don't know how they can say they were voted the #2 night club in Dallas. I mean all the people were super nice, EVEN THE DOOR GUY and GAL(cashier) was surprisingly nice. Nickie G mentioned the "Vegas Style" RIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIGHT. I guess I am jaded because I used to live in Vegas, but this place was super small. The VIP room was small as well. The worst thing of all was that the bar was right underneath the DJ booth, so you had to scream your order every time. They are quick and my wife said the drinks were really good. My wife and I did stay all night and left when they turned the light on, but only because the music was good.

Yelp
Went to Thrive yesterday, which was a Friday night. We all had made plans to go to Plush or Luxx and those fell through so we thought, eh why not? Normally I don't write reviews for clubs ever but I HAD to for this place. So we got there around 11:30, It was $15 to get in...Walked in and it was so DEAD! This "nightclub" was SO TINY. Everyone was just standing around staring. The DJ's were playing hip-hop mixes but they were awful mixes. Might I add that the lights were flashing way too fast and did not make this club the least bit impressive. If you like small clubs, hey thats your thing but me and my friends were out of there after about 20 minutes. It was that boring. We wont be back. If I were you I'd just save my time and go somewhere else.
google avatar

Eva R.

Yelp
Pretty nice but made my friend pay an additional $20 to get in because wearing polo boots. But other girls were in there in flats. Who pocked it the extra $20? The club? Dont think so.... Also, the DJ is not the best out there..... I hope he is not out there every weekend because the music options sucked. The Spanish section was awesome DJ was great but wish they would mix some top 40 so that people are not tempted to go to the other section to a horrible variety of music. The drinks were $10 and not strong at all or water down.

Yelp
Believe me, I never thought I would set foot in Thrive but thanks to a birthday party I had to suck it up and go. Vegas Style huh? We'll see about that. We got there about 10:30pm on a Saturday. Luckily that meant no line and no people inside. Thus we snagged some booths beside the bar to the right of where you walk in. This was a nice area - you could hear the music, you were near the bar for quick refills, and you could watch the videos of the songs you heard on the TVs. Nice Vizios Thrive - big bucks spent on those TVs. Vegas indeed! The music was pretty good but the problem was that each "set" lasted approximately 30 seconds. So your JAM would come on and you would want to go dance....you get out to the floor and as soon as you start to dance BAM it goes into another song. It was annoying as fuck! I'm not saying play the entire damn song but maybe more than 30 seconds of each one would be nice. Maybe even try a mashup? Our friends ended up getting a table by the dance floor - the manager (I guess?) gave them the table and a free bottle of vodka and champagne because it was his birthday AND their birthday. So we wandered over there to observe the dancing. I hardly saw ANYONE dancing - most people were just standing and drinking. The go-go dancers were dancing though so at least there's that. I made myself a vodka redbull from the free vodka so that was a plus. This may be the most Vegas style club here in Dallas, but it is definitely NOTHING like a Vegas club. The scene, the music, the dancing, even the go go dancers all fail in comparison. But hey, they got the ambiance and price right! I didn't hate it but I have definitely experienced better and would definitely not go back so I'm going to have to give it 2 stars.

Yelp
I'm kind of embarassed to even be writing a reveiw for Thrive- but I was there for a bachelorette party- so I guess walking into the Crown Plaza Hotel at about midnight was not really out of the ordinary. This is not my typical scene at all- but with a bunch of hot girls, a bus, and plenty of alcohol- Friday night at Thrive was kinda fun. We immediately took over the dancefloor, the DJ was awesome, until I realized one of my girlfriends needed saving from being hit on by Mr. Dallas. The service was great (who doesn't love 20 girls walking into their club) but I doubt I'll be back anytime soon. This place is perfect for girls nights only- would never bring my boyfriend or people from out of town. I'll be on McKinney on the patio instead.

Yelp
Food was ok. Worst vodka tonic I've ever had though and neither waitress noticed that I never touched it.

Yelp
Every once in a while we go to the Thrive buffet for lunch. Fast, quiet atmosphere and its usually a great place to be able to dine and carry on a conversation without yelling across the table. Our visit on July 23, 2014 was much different. There was a man with a cell phone on speaker in the middle of the table and it was disturbing all of the luncheon guests as he carried on (VERY LOUDLY) what as obviously a business conversation! He was like a distracted driver; we stared at him, did everything we could to get his attention and he was oblivious to another person in that restaurant! He just kept talking way too loud as much as to say, here I am look at me! When I asked the waitress if she would please do something about the distracting phone conversation, she became very nervous. It seems it was Terry Tognazzini the CEO of TOG Hotels (the owner of the Crowne Plaza Dallas Hotel and restaurant). I said well, he should know better than to conduct business in the dining room and disturb all his guests! If he is the CEO of the corporation wouldn't he have an office to conduct business in? The waitress mumbled she would tell her boss, which I seriously doubt happened because the noise continued during our entire meal! I find it very sad that a CEO of a business doesn't have the good sense or manners to NOT conduct business in the eatery he owns of all places for everyone else to hear. In an odd way, it was like he was showing off. This display of rudeness just shows money doesn't buy manners or class! We were wondering if the person who he was engaged in conversation with (and it was obviously a business deal) was aware of how many people were hearing the entire conversation. I bet they would not have been so eager to talk if they knew the circumstances. Mr. Terry if you are listening, you might rethink your table manners, or should I say lack of them! Its obvious the staff is intimidated by him, but I reminded the waitress that I'm a paying customer that is complaining, not you, an employee. It will be a while before we go there for lunch again, if at all. There are several other eateries within walking distance of our office that will provide a much better atmosphere and food!

Yelp
Velvet curtains, excessive chrome, a neon Burlesque feel, and a cheap lunch buffet greet you at this locale on Elm Street. Sound like a strip club? Nope, its the Thrive Restaurant (also a nightclub by night) inside the lobby level of the Crowne Plaza. I met my good friend for lunch here upon his suggestion. He'd heard from others that the place was a decent lunch spot. I did check them out online in advance and got an early viewing of the visually stimulating decor. Thrive serves as the hotel's restaurant by day and a nightclub by night. During the lunch hour, its filled mostly with Downtown office denizens but I'm curious to know what the place looks like by night. The hostess was very friendly and she seated us in a roomy booth in the back. It is buffet but you still have waiter service for beverages and the check. Our server was also very friendly and polite and the beverage service was attentive. I'm not thrilled by the concept of most buffets but this one was clean and well stocked. They serve a variety of Southern fare such as fried chicken, sausage, a variety of green veggies, salads, baked potatoes, soups, and bread rolls. There's a small dessert section to to top it off. Overall, most of the food was good. The bread was a tad dry and the green beans were tough. But the fried chicken was not half bad. I'm a big bread pudding fan and while it wasn't a home run, it wasn't too bad. Overall, Thrive didn't leave me overly impressed with the food, but it wasn't bad and the service was nice. It's a very casual atmosphere and not a bad option for a sit-down lunch with co-workers. The decor is a tad loud on the Barbarella spectrum but not entirely offensive. Our tab was less than $20 for the two of us so that alone is satisfying.

Yelp
I ate here today and had the lunch buffet. They were serving Tex Mex for a $7.95 fee. Soda and iced tea are an additional $.99. I wanted a hot tea but it was a $3.25 fee. I don't understand how a cup of tea can come at almost half the price of the buffet. I'm sure it was a tea bag and hot tap water so I declined and had a sweet tea. I tried the chili which was really tasty. I could have just eaten that and enjoyed my meal, but not for a $8.00 fee. I had a ground beef taco, some tortilla chips and some pick de gallo and guacamole. I wasn't super hungry so this was plenty for me and I felt that I got my money's worth. I also put a few pieces of the chicken from the fajitas on my plate, but it was lukewarm at best. I thought the taco shells and chips tasted fresh, but the taco meat was beyond greasy. It was seasoned well but certainly they could have drained the fat. I would chance this again if I'm staying at the hotel. I will note that as I was leaving I saw a lady drop an entire meat taco in the dish of salsa. I think she was trying to fish it out, that was pretty gross. Hopefully the workers noticed this and replaced the bowl. Of course this is a chance you take when eating at a buffet, thank goodness I was finished with my meal already.

Yelp
So I went here on a Saturday Sept. 31st, 2010 with some of my boys cuz I heard so many good things about this place from my friends. Heard its fancy smancy you gotta dress up all nice to the T and its exclusive blah blah blah. Ok we get there late like 12 and I was like good thing we VIP online to get on the guestlist. Ok they didn't even use the guestlist. It was Free Cover which was really nice. Walk in, dudes wearing Tshirts, sneakers, jeans. I'm like shit I'M TOO FLY FOR THIS. I thought the website said they really judge people how they dress whether they get in or not.... WTF guess not. So I don't really believe what the website has to say about things. It says you have to be in line at 10pm if your on the guestlist. I guess its not as exclusive as the website makes it out to be. Get in, looks nice ok. Kinda small. Since Thrive is in a hotel, I guess they put the music lower than most places I've been to so I was like WTF? I came to dance and put it down on the dance floor. Didn't see too many pretty girls that night. The place smelled funny too. Alot of dudes standing around. Girls were not friendly at all and mind you I'm a DAMN GOOD DANCER. Not alot of people dancing like the scene I'm use to. Drinks were SUPER EXPENSIVE. No wonder cover was free. $9 for something my friend got. So I was like...I don't think imma drink tonight But, my friends did say it was was poppin everytime they go on Fridays so Imma give this place another chance.

Yelp
I only rated this one star, because it will not let me review with zero stars. This place is unreal. The bartender was sitting at the end of the bar on her laptop. We came in, sat down and she looked at us multiple times. I finally asked if they were open, her response, "You want something?" She then continued on her phone, to get a new drivers license, which we know because she would not respond to us (while standing in front of our table) talking to the person on the phone. She made our drinks at separate times, and would not bring them to our table, she would yell at us to turn around and get them from the bar. She has sat at the end of the bar, too busy on her laptop to help us. I had to get us straws and drink napkins. She is rude and no service at all. And there are fruit flies everywhere, flying into our food and 100% flying in my wine. I work in the service industry, and there is no service here. I am willing to pay for the food or drink, but a tip is for service.

Yelp
Review for Lunch Buffet! Wouldn't go out of my way for this place, but if I'm in the walking-distance vicinity I'd eat here again. Some friends and I stayed overnight at the Crowne Plaza and for lunch we couldn't really leave the area so decided to try the $7.95 lunch buffet. We were seated immediately and we had a server to take our drink orders and to give us a check and she also checked up on us occasionally to see if we needed anything. We went on a weekday and we enjoyed it since it was quick, filling, and had some good choices. There's the standard salad bar, soups, baked potatoes, and a lot of pasta options to choose from. We finished the meal with the dessert cake options and were on our merry way.

Yelp
Went there last night for my boyfriend's bday. We had bottle service and a table. With bottle service you get up to 20 people in free as long as they get there before 11:00. However, our area was only big enough for about 6 people to sit down. The music was a good mix of hip hop and techno. Crowd was mixed and got packed after midnight. We had a great time and would definitely go back again.

Yelp
Went on a Thursday night. The club is small, you can literally stand on one side of the club and see directly across to the other side. Drinks cost pretty much the same for a Dallas nightclub. The club was sparse most of the night but people started pouring in around 12.30. There were some alright looking women in there but most of them weren't dancing, they were just standing around or just there to "peep the scene". Only positive was that the staff was friendly and the music was good.

Yelp
The ONLY reason I am giving this place a 2 star review is due to its secluded nature from the rest of the hectic day I was having. When I am at a "World Famous" Crowne Plaza I expect a certain level of fine approaches and treatment. This place delivers neither. To begin with, they wear you without mentioning there is ONLY a breakfast buffet and no per item order menu made fresh. The buffet is simple enough for $13.95 plus tax. Simple enough, you'd think. Every single item I tested that is normally a "hot" item was stone cold or Luke warm. The coffee was even like warm. I asked and they said it's because they have to keep the AC so cold. Really? The food is otherwise forgettable sweet biscuits with a liquid white gravy. Excuse me we are in TEXAS and you can't make a proper gravy? Not allowed. Spend the $14 down the street at the donut place instead. The absolute unforgivable part is that the workers were nice enough and somewhat attentive. However, the two ladies and a gentleman worker spoke to each other in Spanish, loudly the entire time I was there. In my experience as a restaurant manager of you have time to lean you time to clean. They should not EVER speak in Spanish to one another for conversational purposes, unless to use it to help a guest. This is my absolute biggest pet peeve, not because I lack understand - I speak Spanish - because it is rude and you are there to work not chat. Totally unprofessional.

Yelp
Who knew I could find a nice club downtown Dallas with a Lesbian and Gay crowd. They had great music, strong drinks and NO COVER! until 11pm... I think. Makes me miss Los Angeles less. I would give it five stars if there had been more people there, but then again it was the NBA Finals and people were partying on the streets downtown Dallas. I will be going back for sure!

Yelp
Servers are credit card thieves!! Bunch of us went there for couple of drinks and we all got over charged by several hunderd dollars on our credit cards!!! Dont use your credit card there!!

Yelp
Horrible - I was so disappointed! I ordered French onion Soup and received a bowl of onion soup with three croutons floating in it and hunk of cheese just thrown in the bowl. After sending it back and explaining how it should be done (cheese on top and broiled until it is lightly browned and melted) and receiving yet another bowl with a hunk of unmelted cheese in the bottom - I decided to go elsewhere. A restaurant that is in this price range that cannot make French onion soup is not a place I want to dine.

Yelp
This place was horrible. The sound setup was sub-par, as were the drinks. I ordered a gin and tonic, and could not even taste the gin. I gave the bartender the benefit of the doubt, and got 2 more.. The only thing I had to show for it was a bill.. Fool me once shame on me, fool me twice... Not even going to give them that chance.

Yelp
If you like the RAP, then you will love this club. Dj refused to play anything else - not even top 40 RAP. No, this was all the hard-core RAP all night. Thank goodness they had another part of the club that played some latin songs to dance to. Well drinks $8, coat check $10. Good pour, never had to wait.

Yelp
Randy gave wonderful service. I had the chicken fried steak, mashed potatoes and pie. The food was absolutely marvelous. I would recommend stopping by the Restaurant for a pleasant meal.

Yelp
Went there on a friday night with group of my friends celebrating my best friend's birthday, we were there early at 10:30, no free admission for ladies, which surpised me a little. Club was pretty dead til 12:30, the music was horrible, all the mix were old and sucks for real. The worst thing about the club is the LED LIGHTING SYSTEM, which you might think why? I feel this is a "LIGHT CLUB" instead of a nightclub. The lighting was okay for the first 30 mins, until somone went up to the DJ area and mess with the lighting system. The guy doesnt know how to operate the system, keep turning it on and off, colors, rythem, he looks like first day of working at thrive. From that point foward, all the people on dance floor start standing to the side and bar because of the stupid light flashing everyone's eyes. I am pretty sure i need to go to the eye doctor after tonights b-day celebration. I was hoping that they might do something about it, we have 15 friends going in there, i dont want to disappoint all my friends and leave right away. So i talk to the worker over there, the DJ, front desk, bartender, host, anyone that i hope they might can help me with. Most of them said to me they are not authorized to do so, and they do know the lighting sucks, but they cant do nothing about it. One of the girl said she's gonna find someone to do it, after 30 mins of waiting, the light still flashing like crazy. Brightest night club ever i have ever been in to. Bad customer service, drink was okay, DJ needs to work more on hiphop songs, horrible lighting system no one was even dancing on a friday night, i really dont know how can this horrible place survived for so long?

Yelp
Dining out with my daughter and her bestie. Food is extremely slow coming out. The wings were okay. Shrimp Alfredo is weird and tastes nothing like Shrimp Alfredo. The bourbon chicken and blackened shrimp is one of the most bland and overcooked meals I have ever had. The shrimp was good but definitely not blackened. For a $60 meal, I expect so much more. The water was tap water. Highly disappointed. I now know why we were the only ones here at 8pm on a Friday night. We will not be back again!

Yelp
$6 parking in hotel garage - Well what can I say it's downtown! $20 cover charge (unless your on 'the list') - What? My friend's shoes being observed because they resembled 'work boots' prior to getting in - Whack Different bartenders charging me different prices for the same drink all night - Whatever to you Thrive I came here for "Scene Saturdays" with a group for a birthday and the first song I hear playing is "This is how we do it" by Montell Jordan. Wow. Thankfully the songs got better throughout the night but I was already in a pissy mood considering everything else I ranted about in my intro. I'm just not a fan of prissy clubs like this who forget their sole resource of staying in business are people like me who just want to have fun and get nice and tipsy. I understand the importance of a dress code but think it's ridiculous girls aren't allowed to wear sandals (my $60 metallic strappy flats were not welcome here!) and it took a group of 5 guys to examine one of my friends before letting him in. They forced him to stand on the side of the ropes and pull up his jeans (dark denim and dress pants are all that's accepted here) so they could make a decision on his shoes. The decor here is really flashy, dark and totally Vegas and the crowd varies from night to night. If you've got yellow fever, then Friday would be your night! I went on a Saturday and there was a big mix of Latinos and African Americans who were mostly in their late 20's. The bar is a pretty good size and I didn't have to squeeze my way in to order a drink but I still don't think I'll be back. I just felt cheesy and ripped here, the end.

Yelp
Thrive is a club... full stop. It's got a $10 cover for women and $15 for men. It's not very special except for there are a variety of music genres and its very large. It was a bit to large and pretentious for me. But if that's what you are into, check it out for yourself.

Yelp
this review is based on last FRIDAY's visit... usually a 4+ stars place, decor, music, service etc. but last friday...the place was dead... I guess that's why they were doing lady's night on friday and $100 bottle service...it's still great music, mood, place, service but barely anyone is here...making it look like a hotel bar rather than a hip trendy club that it truly is....guess their promoter wasn't there or working last weekend. for now it stays at 4 stars...b/c they do offer special on drinks and bottle service but if the crowd don't pick up I'm affraid this place will soon be a lost cause~

Yelp
Pasta was uncooked and no flavor. Rice had no flavor either. The vegetables were microwaved, not steamed. Salmon was decent at best. $61 worth of food.

Yelp
Pretty bad experience here. The look is great! The prices make you think the food is going to be great. But the only thing great there was the water. The food was blatantly all pre-prepared out of the bag and then heated up. If you're going for drinks and a good atmosphere, go for it! But if you're going for a meal, avoid this place.

Yelp
I went to Thrive as part of my bday celebration. Ladies Free before 11!! When we arrived it was pretty dead. We were able to get a table close to the bar and took some hot pics w the photographer. =) The decor is very nice in this club. I had bought me and my friend a drink and it was around $12. The crowd was great! Not ghetto but not SUPER upscale either. Just right. I can't really remember the rest of the night because I had gotten a little drunk haha. But Thursday nights are the best!

Yelp
This is a review of the dinner menu. Upon checking into the Crowne Plaza Hotel, they give you a coupon for 20% off dinner at their restaurant.. The menu is expensive for what is offered, and there are not a lot of items. We ordered teriyaki Chicken and Chicken Parmesan and the spinach dip appetizer. The bill came out to 52.00 after the discount, which included two drinks. The chicken in the parmesan was obviously frozen and thawed, and the sauce tasted like chef-boy-ar-dee spaghetti-o sauce. The teriyaki chicken was small, and lightly sauced, matched with instant mashed potatoes and frozen vegetables. I think the reason that they give the 20% off is to get you in there once, knowing that no one would ever return, or go there at full price. If you check into the Crown Plaza and get the 20% off certificate, I recommend you round-file it and find a real restaurant nearby.

Yelp
At first I was not excited at all to come to this place, but once we were there it was fun we had a blast. It was me and my friends first time coming here. They had great music, drinks, bartenders and the go-go dancers were cool. We ended up having a great time cant wait to come back.

Yelp
My wife and sister and brother - in visited Thrive for the first time in December and we were very shocked at the music and the cost of the bottle sections...everything was outstanding! I certainly wouldn't compare it to Vegas but the energy was great, the waitresses were fun and engaging, and we had an awesome time. We're planning a second trip there this weekend and we're looking for another great party!

Yelp
Was staying at the crown plaza where thrive is located and had no idea it was a night club. When my wife and I came back to the hotel that night after being out and about in Dallas, we decided we would get one last drink before we head off to our room, expecting a quite hotel lounge or something. Boy were we wrong. It was loud and full of people. We got a drink anyways. They were watered down and nasty. Once we left the club there were beer bottles, drunks, and puke all over the hotel by the time we got to our room. So crown plaza guest beware!

Yelp
The first issue is they said no Air Jordan sneakers at a urban nightclub, the second is that I changed into a pair of Christian Louboutin sneakers I had in the trunk, then went in and saw several people wearing air Jordan sneakers. I was pissed clean off after that. The DJ was okay, but he played a few corny old songs. He wasn't blending his tracks well either. Subpar experience.

Yelp
Thrive is fairly new, which means the decor is up to date and the place is pretty clean and not so run down. I've had both good and bad experiences. We'll start with the bad - One night, my friends and I decided to get bottle service and thought Thrive would be a great place just because it was new and they had a large event going on there that night. We reserved everything over the phone, had to put a $100 "deposit" to make our reservations. Upon arriving, we had no problems getting in - which was quite surprising bc I was with 6 boys and one other girl and usually clubs are picky about the girl:boy ratio. Once we get in we wait over 20 minutes to be escorted to our table. We get escorted and realize that they didnt get us a table in the club dancing area, they gave us a table that is in their eating area which is far away from the music and where the fun is happening. Ok that's LAME! Who wants to pay hundreds of dollars for a table that is in an eating area? I could have stayed at home and drank a bottle on my dining room table with music on and it would have been the same thing. Needless to say, we told the manager that we did NOT want the table and we wanted a refund on the money that we put down. We assured us that we could get another table elsewhere if we gave him a little time, but I just had a bed feeling about it. We didnt end up ever getting another table there, we did stay for the night even though our table service plans fell through. On another note - if you like go go dancers, wearing practically no clothes, you would enjoy Thrive. The girls kind of gross me out, BUT I'm pretty sure if you're a guy you would enjoy them. The decorations are Vegas-esque. The few times that I have been the music has been good. It is kinda awkward dancing around on the large dance floor if there aren't may people there, so beware. Call ahead before you go on the weekends to get on the list. You just give them your name and how many are in your party and if there is a line, then you get to skip it! Lucky you!

Yelp
I went October 2017. Ok not from Dallas and I was looking for a club Downtown that was popping. I noticed thrive on my navigation for night clubs. When I got there it was a line out the door. It didn't take long to get in. We got in and the music was on point. I love R&B and Hip Hop. It was packed. It was a Friday night. Bottle of beer was pricey $12 for a beer. I can't complain I think I stayed until it closed. It's must be a club and Dallas thing to up charge drinks. I had fun overall.

Yelp
Wasn't there long, super crowded. Good prices on drinks. The lights were horrible though, you almost couldn't walk/see correctly. Won't go back.

Yelp
This place is out dated dimmed lights dark and a "tad"dirty (needs renovation) but it was the best lunch buffet I've had in a long time for under $8......high quality delicious! I was hungry it was 12noon everywhere was crowded then I got lucky and stumbled into a sign advertising Thrive Restaurant Lunch Buffet located inside of Crown Plaza. I entered the restaurant and asked permission to look at the buffet. The chicken and beef fajitas looked irresistible and to top it all off they had guacamole. I ate all I could and my bill ended up being less than $8. This is another one of my restaurants of choice especially during lunch time!!!!! Added plus.....the wait staff was very nice, fast and friendly.
