18 Best Chinese and Taiwanese Dumplings to Eat in Los Angeles | Eater LA

"Be sure to watch Thumbling’s dumpling makers encased in a glass room. The dumplings here are all top-tier, but the pork siu mai, xiao long bao, and pan-fried chicken bun are the best." - Mona Holmes

First time coming here and it was busy right when they opened, but it was easy to be seated. The steamed dumplings were flavorful & the steamed pork buns were super tasty and had a nice softness to them. Fair warning the parking in this plaza can be tough.

Google
The best din tai xxx copy restaurants. The got the marinated seaweed bean sprout salad down. As far as pork xiao long bao, Thumbling got the skin and dumpling juice perfect. However the flavor is missing something. I end up using the chili sauce to add flavor to the dumplings. Finally, the yellow chives & shrimp & pork pan fried dumplings were great. Made to perfection and the sauce really hit it home for me. Thumbling does get pretty busy during meal hours. The great thing is that they made it easy a really good wait list system. You just scan the QR code and enter number in your party and phone number. You will get a text when table is ready. Food ordering is via QR code as well. Definitely a revisit is necessary.

Taiwanese food without the major wait. We were looking to eat Taiwanese food but didn’t feel like waiting in line for two hours. So we found this little shop in a strip plaza. We walked in and only waited about 10 minutes for a table. The place is fairly small and noisy. The place looked clean and modern. Ordering was a breeze using the QR code. After ordering, the waitress would come by to confirm the order. The food started coming very shortly after; didn’t wait long at all. Overall the food was great. But there were a couple of stand out items. The soup dumplings were nice. The soup broth in the dumplings wasn’t too salty or overpowering. The wrapping was a bit thick but still good. The fried dumplings were pan fried and flipped upside down. This is normal to show the crispiness of the dumplings. The dumplings were all connected with a thin film of batter. It was an interesting look and experience to eat. The piggy buns were so good. The buns were super soft and fluffy. The red bean filling was not too sweet and gave the hint of red bean taste. They were a must order in my opinion. The service was efficient and fast. The food came out hot. The staff was super friendly and helpful. It’s definitely a good alternative to Ding Tai Fung, if you don’t want to wait.

Google
I’ve been wanting to try this place for a while now. It was definitely worth the wait. So many of the dishes I ordered felt like comfort food. Some items were a bit bland and others were excellent, but their dipping sauce made up for it. They don’t have the biggest menu, the upside to that is things come out fast. Parking gets really crowded here and there can be a wait. It felt like tables were a bit squished together, so I didn’t bother getting up to look for the bathroom. All in all, I was happy with the food and my experience there. They do serve boba as well.

Google
At Thumbling, you'll find a large selection of different types of dumplings, noodles, veggie and meat dishes. Every dish we ordered was served hot and was good. Everything is done via QR codes and apps. This includes reserving a table, ordering food and paying the bill. As for service, they seat you and bring you your orders. The staff is not the friendliest, but not rude either. They keep things moving along. When we were ready to pay, they presented us with an itemized bill via a tablet of which we were not able to review. I'm sure everything was in order, but when in a large group, everyone may want to review the bill before paying. Also, I like to tip in cash, but was not given a no tip option. Prices are fair and the restaurant was clean, albeit a bit cluttered towards tables in the back. Parking in the shopping mall wasn't too bad either.

Good dumplings. I tried the spicy dumplings but they are not spicy. Overall food was good.

Google
I can't help but express how much I wish we had something like that here in my hometown of El Paso! I had the opportunity to enjoy this incredible food while in California for just a couple of days, and I couldn't resist going back for more. It was such a delight to experience that culinary bliss two days in a row!

Yelp
Wow! This place was worth the wait. Came on a Monday night and we were 15th on the waitlist. On a Wednesday night around 7pm, we were 9th on the waitlist and waited 30-minutes. Food was amazing. We got the Xiao long bao, beef rolls, rice cake sir fry with pork, stir fried noodles with shrimp and green beans. My favorite were the green beans and rice cake. Service was quick and you can order via QR code on the table. There's also a QR code outside to join the waitlist. We'll be back!

Yelp
My family and I had dinner here over the holiday weekend. We ordered spicy chicken Shanghai wonton, shrimp, and pork--these were the best, in my opinion--and Chinese spinach and pork. The broth was spicy and delicious. We also ordered marinated cucumbers. They were tasty, but they were cut a little thick. We ordered delicious chicken dumplings and the green beans with garlic were so good we ate the whole plate. Definitely order the beef tenderloin noodles with broccoli. Food comes out at different times so it was hard to get a picture. The portion size was good and the service was fast and friendly. We all loved the food here and can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Recommend this place Food and drinks were Great! Service was fast. The restaurant is small and you almost rub elbows with others sitting next to you but overall it was a good experience.

Yelp
After experiencing a SCRUMPTIOUS meal at Thumbling, I absolutely get the hype around dumplings now! WOW, were my socks blown off! For starters, it was a PACKED HOUSE! Every table had a party seated and the staff we're slingin' food left and right. This was a telltale sign that I was about to have a delicious experience. I met up with a group of friends for dinner who had been there before and was told "trust the process". By that, my friends meant "we'll do all the ordering: we got you". That, they sure did and I would trust them to do it all over again!! I loved how efficient the ordering process was, where each person could scan the barcode on the table, and whatever was ordered would all go to the table, no matter which device it was ordered from. (this was my first time experiencing the style of ordering/payment! So awesome!) Every dish we ordered, from appetizers, to dumplings, was made to order; hot and fresh! It was love at first bite - WOW! Every dumpling I had, paired with the dumpling sauce and chili oil was absolutely delectable! The cucumber salad was my absolute favorite. Such a simple and refreshing dish, yet packed with MAJOR flavor. Another notable was the chicken pan fried dumplings. I still think about that perfect crisp!! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this spot to any and all folks craving some solid dumplings. Definitely go with a group if you can, so you can try more menu options :)

Yelp
West Covina, Thumbling serves up the infamous XLB! Ordered the following: 1. Pork Xiao Long Bao $13 x 2 Super tasty pockets of pork and soup. Be careful of the squirt. I recommend creating a small hole, and draining the soup on the spoon. Ginger and Vinegar provided.

Yelp
Conveniently located right off the 10 Freeway -- got here at 11am and was seated right away. Ordered the Pork Xiao Long Bao, Wonton Soup, Sticky Rice and Pork Sui Mai, and Vegetarian Fried Noodle. Use the QR code to order and they give you a slip to confirm items at the table. The food was very good and each dish they brought out was good and hot. Will definitely be back. Parking in the strip mall gets busy during peak times, and there can be a line to get a table

Yelp
I'll never need to go to Din Tai Fung again. Thumbling is 1945934999133x better!! To begin with, I'm not the biggest fan of din tai fung. I feel like their xiao long baos are lacking, and the rest of their food just tastes not that special?? It took me quite a while to try thumbling despite it being closer to me. But so far I think it's my favorite restaurant that serves this kind of Taiwanese & shanghainese food. You can order through the qr code at the table. Food comes out in a decent amount of time. The beef noodles are so flavorful. Fried rice, xiao long bao, and spicy chili oil wontons all good! overall everything is just yummy!
google avatar

Anthony R P.

Yelp
First off, they do things differently when ordering. Everyone at the table scans the barcode and it brings up an order page. Everyone can add things from their own phone and it is added to the table order. When you're done, you submit the order and they start bringing stuff out. They'll bring a receipt with your order on it and stick it to the table so they know what they brought. I liked this. It was fast and easy. This place is delicious. We tried a few things and they were all good. I loved the spicy pork Xiao long bao. The paper beef with udon noodles was my second favorite. This place is often crowded and a line out the door. We got there at 1050 and there was a line. It opened at 11am. We were seated immediately. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Overall, a really solid restaurant. It was pretty packed on a Monday at 8pm, but the wait was only around 15-20 minutes. The tables are a little close together (at least where we sat), but the service was quick. The total cost was $80. We also got the milk tea and Thai iced tea. Both drinks were good, but nothing special. Pork Xiao Long Bao - Juicy and decently sized. They were flavorful with a good amount of filling, and arrived hot and steamy at the table. I was able to finish all of them myself, but they're definitely shareable. Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao - Pretty much the same as the regular ones, just with a kick of spice. My spice tolerance isn't very high, so I found them a bit spicy. I'd say it was probably slightly above mild. Chicken Egg Fried Rice - Note: the photo I attached was taken after I already served some. It comes in a good portion. Tasty and simple in flavor. Not anything spectacular, but I'd still recommend it. Pork Fried Dumplings - Pretty good. Crispy on the outside with a nice filling. I'm not the biggest fan of fried dumplings, so my opinion's a bit biased. Overall, a nice spot for a quick meal with friends or family!

Yelp
I'm honestly surprised I haven't written a review for Thumbling yet. I started coming here shortly after COVID, and it quickly became a favorite. Honestly, it might be the closest thing to Din Tai Fung, maybe even better. My friends and I have probably eaten here over 50 times by now. Yes, it gets busy, and yes, there's usually a wait on weekends, but it's 100% worth it. The staff is friendly and quick, and the food always hits the spot. Our go-tos are definitely the xiao long bao, pork and corn dumplings, beef wrap roll, shrimp fried rice, rice cakes, and sweet and sour pork. Honestly, you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. They have regular and bar seating, and both the wait times and prices are pretty reasonable. Everyone loves Thumbling.
google avatar

Tuyetnhi M.

Yelp
Although I'm not a fan of the location, and the fact that if you're a small party they place you at the bar- where the kitchen glass borders are all covered up- leading to you looking at an odd covered glass wall--- I have to admit this spot has the best soup dumplings, udon stir fry and even the other items- all tasted as they should've. The service is fast and pretty good. It gets really busy here so patience is a factor. Don't come here if you're not willing to wait or if you're hangry.

Yelp
I always love coming to thumbling! The food always tastes 10/10 every time I come. I ordered the pork xiao long bao, beef fried noodles, the garlic chicken wings, and the spicy chicken wonton! The sauces they have to add to the food adds to the flavor! Everything came out quick and service was fast. There's always a little bit of a wait but it's worth it!

Yelp
Went to Thumbling on a Sunday evening. The wait for two wasn't bad, even though there were a few people ahead of us. We got seated fairly quickly and ordered a few dishes. Everything was flavorful and good, but nothing really stood out. We tried the garlic string beans, pork buns, fried rice, cucumber salad, and the braised noodle soup. The place was crowded, and the staff was attentive but it did start to feel like they were rushing people out because of the long lines outside. Toward the end of our meal, we slowed down a bit to chat, and noticed a few servers hovering. Within about three minutes, at least three different staff members were eyeing our table with their iPads, whispering and pointing like we were supposed to be done. It definitely felt like they were waiting for us to leave, which made the end of the meal uncomfortable. I get that they're trying to keep the line moving and avoid long wait times, but it still made us feel rushed and that took away from the experience a bit. The place had nice lighting and lots of seating, ambience was good.

Yelp
Quick service, nice food and drink menu, easy/condiment ordering system (order through your phone), there's a waitlist when they're busy, free parking lot but it is pretty busy in the shopping center, food is tasty
google avatar

Victor D.

Yelp
I did a walk up for two. You have to get on the waitlist by scanning the QR code outside. They were quick to seat us. I ordered the sautéed string beans and garlic, spicy pork wontons, spicy noodles, spicy beef udon, pork bao. My personal favorites were the spicy beef udon and spicy pork wontons. Of all the spicy food items the spicy beef udon had the least amount of heat but it had great taste and there isn't anything comparable offered at some other similar places. They have some seating in high chairs that faces a frosted glass window. You are facing away from the rest of the restaurant so you don't see anything the whole time.

Yelp
Before I review, I want to tell everyone to sign up using the QR code before you go. The QR code can be found on yelp menu picture section. You take a screenshot and long tap to access it. There's always a line. -------------------------------- I have been here three times now and every time the food has been consistent. Served hot and fresh and the price is very good. We spent $130 after tips and taxes for 5 adults this time. Things we ordered and evaluations: 1. Sesame noodle: Vert rich and flavorful. The noodle could be just a liiiitle more aldente. 2. Fried rice with chicken and shrimp: A staple dish! Shrimp is cooked right and plump. Flavor is there but some people need chili oil that's on the table. 3. Kung pao chicken: this dish is totally slept on! The chicken is fried and cooked in sauce. Veggies are also good. 4. Pork XLB: you cannot miss this. Try not to break the skin! It's so good we ordered twice. 5. Pan fried Dumpling: this was pretty normal. Not bad tho. 6. Green beans: nicely cooked with garlic but it was a little too oily for what it is. 7. Egg drop soup: some people might think this is bland- but this is a nice "taking a break" soup from all the other flavorful food. As an Asian this was something comforting. Service- you will be ordering thru your phone. So not much of interaction with the server. It's good for the business for efficiency but not tip deserving especially when they never ask you how we are doing or checking on the water. We have to ask for water. We still tipped 15% ish. Ambiance- always crowded. Which is good! You know you're at the right place. The condiments and tables can be a little cleaner.

Yelp
Basically, din tai fung but family style and less... stiff. On a Wednesday night this place was bustling with groups of family, friends, lovers on dates which shows the appeal to anyone and everyone. They also provide various table, booth and high top/bar seating for all the different parties. Now, the food: everything we ordered was so good and hit exactly like you want it to. As a first timer, ordering off the 'most popular' section of the menu did not steer us wrong. The portions are generous. The only thing was that the bottom of the soup dumplings keep sticking to the paper and so the soup would spill out. Sad. Very efficient ordering on your phones at the table and food comes out quickly as well. Free parking in the lot shared with other restaurants and businesses. This might've been my first visit to this area and would definitely come back!
google avatar

Dez T.

Yelp
This is very similar the DTF. I think it's much better and less than half the price! The food is great! Every dish I've tried has been amazing! My favorites are the beef noodles, spicy XLB, beef roll and the pork short ribs! The service is pretty non existent but that's ok with me I'm not going there for service. You order your food via the QR code at the table and they bring out your dishes. There is no one coming around to ask how your food is or to offer you a dessert menu. It's very informal but delicious! Overall I would recommend! Expect to wait at least 30 mins to be seated. Expect parking will be a little limited. But the food will be amazing! And very reasonably priced!
google avatar

Desiree D.

Yelp
This place is so good. The price is great too. Theres almost always a line and it gets pretty crowded. Ive tried nearly every item on the menu and havent been disappointed.

Yelp
I've been going to Thumbling ever since I moved to Covina a few years back, and wow, has it exploded in popularity! I remember the days when we could just stroll in and be seated in 15-20 minutes. Now, you've got to jump on the waitlist, and sometimes you're looking at an hour wait! But hey, good for them! Honestly, they totally deserve it because their dumplings are amazing! The XLB is a must-have. We're also big fans of the pork chop fried rice, those pan-seared steamed chicken buns, and the pork and shrimp chili wontons. So good! Since the wait can be pretty long and the place isn't great for bringing a baby (it can get cramped), we've started ordering takeout. It still tastes just as delicious, so I definitely recommend that if you're not up for waiting forever!
google avatar

Mitch - Allaboutdafood R.

Yelp
The food was good but it's not amazing they have a pretty simple menu. Noodles with shrimp or noodles with beef same flavor they just change the protein. Spicy wings are pretty standard maybe a little too fried and the onion pancake was like three sheets of paper. For the area they might be one of the only places like this one ,it's a Taiwanese /Shanghainese infusion. I have had better. Because we were a party of two and it was quite busy there was no option to wait for a table. Flora almost yelled at me when I insisted on waiting for a table. Unfortunately I interacted with her for more than just the host and Flora was awful. From the moment we came in she made my visit unpleasant. She was rude to us,other patrons and she was a bully to her fellow workers. I hope she was just having a bad day and this isn't an everyday experience!
google avatar

Yelp
Ordered online and added in 20% tips automatically, no way to adjust the tips amount. Tried calling them but phone was not working , that leaves online ordering is the only choice and force to pay the 20% tips.

Ashley S.

Yelp
In my opinion, this spot is so much better than Din Tai Fung. The menu has so many delicious options, and it's perfect for a family-style meal where everyone can try a bit of everything. My personal favorite is the sweet-and-sour pork ribs. They're packed with flavor and just so fun to eat. You also can't go wrong with the xiao long bao or the spicy wontons. Both always hit the spot. The pork chop fried rice is another must-try, and I love getting the seaweed and bean curd salad as an appetizer for something refreshing. The corn and pork dumplings are so underrated. The texture is amazing, and the flavor combo is surprisingly fantastic. Don't skip the fried green beans either. It's nice to balance out a meal with a veggie, and these are crispy and making eating your greens fun. Service is really fast, and I love how you can conveniently order straight from your phone, with pictures of the menu too.

Yelp
Ordered to go this time and they had everything prepared by the time i got there! my favorites were their pan fried dumplings, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Loved their XLB as well. It was very juicy and still warm when i got home. the beef noodle soup was also yummy along with the beef roll. The fried rice wasn't the best, a bit salty and clumpy. i would still come back again as their price is rlly good and lots of options to choose from!

Yelp
First time dining inside Thumbling after ordering to go since they opened. Fast and efficient service and food. Incredibly sweet servers that remained attentive throughout our meal. I always try to order something I haven't tried each time I eat Thumbling and have yet to be disappointed. Thank you for all the deliciousness!
google avatar

Brian T.

Yelp
Solid Taiwanese restaurant! The beef roll was amazing has an addicting sweet sauce. The pork xiao long bao has a thin and chewy skin so does break easily but delicious nonetheless. The shanghai spicy wonton has good filling and the chili oil/ sauce has a slight sweetness to it which I enjoy. Braised beef noodle soup was solid and has good soup with a hint of spicy flavor. The salted egg custard xiao long bao was amazing. Definitely get it if you like salted egg custard. QR code to join the waitlist and it does get busy on a weekend night. Order was also placed via QR code on the table and comes pretty quick.
google avatar

Maria A.

Yelp
I would give it 4.5 stars if I could! I went on a Friday around 6:30 pm and waited almost an hour and forty minutes. Once we were seated everything moved quickly. All our dishes came out quickly and it took us 30 minutes to eat everything. The only part that was a bit weird was when the staff would stand by us once they saw we were close to finishing to try to clean our table. We ordered the vegetarian egg fried rice, beef roll, cucumbers, and vegetarian fried noodle. All were delicious! The portions of the rice and noodles were big enough to have leftovers for the next day. The inside was packed especially with the staff running around. If the wait was shorter, I would definitely come to eat in again.
google avatar

Yelp
Tumbling was delicious! Arrived on a Saturday at 1245 and scanned the QR code to put my party of 2 on the wait list. Within 1 min, I got a notification for a table. If you're okay with sitting at the bar, it's a good place to for a party of two! Inside is spacious and tables are for 4-6ppl so sitting at the bar is intimate and cozy. We ordered so many dishes and everything was very good! QR codes again to order making it very easy to add dishes to your existing meal or add to-go orders. Spicy Cucumbers Garlic String Beans Pork Xia Long Bao Shrimp and Pork Wonton Noodle HK style HK Steamed BBQ Pork Buns Lemon Pepper Fried Chicken Wings Drinks come with your choice of amount of sugar and ice. Jasmine Green Tea with jelly and 50% sugar was just the right amount. Can't wait to come back!

Yelp
I came here with friends to try out their dumplings since one of them said it was better than ding tai fung. We ordered pork boiled dumplings, veggie dumplings, pork XLB, pan fried pork dumplings, and crab XLB. They were all pretty good but the only one that stood out to me was the crab XLB. The flavor and richness was what I was looking for. In order of my favorite to least favorite: crab, pork XLB, pork boiled dumplings, veggie dumplings, pan fried pork dumplings. Overall, the food was within my expectations. I would recommend people to give it a try as I think it is indeed better than ding tai fung in both taste and size. One thing I didn't like though is the lack of air ventilation. It was pretty stuffy inside while we were eating.
google avatar

Katrina N.

Yelp
Whenever I'm craving dumplings, this is the place I like to go. Because of how delicious the food is, there can be a long wait, but it is definitely worth it. Look at the pictures of the food I've posted, and you can see that I've tried a lot of their food here. I have recommended this place to so many of my family and friends and they said it is comparable to Din Tai Fung. It's easy to order here. There is a QR code on your table that you scan and you can order from there. And when your food is ready, they will bring it to you. Great ambience. Great place that's suitable to have lunch or dinner with your friends and even your family. Because they see a lot of people, it can get busy and loud inside. But I think all that really matters is that you enjoy the food they have to offer.

Antonio L.

Yelp
Taiwanese food, used to Cantonese or Mandarin cuisines. Taiwanese = island fusion, night-market culture, Fujian + Japanese influences. * Cantonese = southern Chinese, subtle and fresh, famous for dim sum and roasts. * "Mandarin" = shorthand for northern Chinese food, wheat-based, bold, hearty--often simplified in American-Chinese restaurants.
google avatar

Yelp
Parking: Plenty available Ambience: Crowded, busy! Service: Seem possibly understaffed, they forgot / delayed one of my orders, but were quick to rectify it. Friendly! Taste: Got the scallion pancake, dumplings, xiao long bao, noodles, and salted egg custard xiao long boa, all of which were pretty good!
google avatar

Johnson J.

Yelp
I have been coming here for years and the food food used to always be good, but recently seems to be inconsistent. However, food is still good overall. The service is pretty good and food comes in reasonable time even with how packed it is sometimes. The place is pretty spacious and has a lot of seating although still often packed around dinner time

Yelp
Thumbling is the best kind of hidden gem--Din Tai Fung-level quality without the insane wait. If you love perfectly executed dumplings, wok-fired flavors, and warm, attentive service, this spot needs to be on your list. We went all in on our order, and every single dish delivered. The beef roll was crispy, flaky, and packed with tender, flavorful beef. The dry scallop and egg white fried rice was delicate yet deeply satisfying, with just the right balance of umami. The sautéed string beans with garlic had that perfect wok-charred crispness, and the shrimp fried rice cake was chewy, rich, and so addictive. Of course, we couldn't pass up the crab roe and pork xiao long bao--silky, soupy, and bursting with flavor. The Shanghai spicy shrimp and pork wontons were pure comfort, swimming in a sauce that had the perfect balance of heat and savoriness. And to end on a sweet note, the salted egg custard buns were absolute perfection--soft, fluffy, and oozing with that rich, sweet-salty filling. For drinks, the royal milk tea with boba was perfectly balanced--not too sweet, with chewy, fresh boba--and the hot jasmine green tea was fragrant and soothing. Service was excellent--fast, friendly, and genuinely attentive. The team made sure we were taken care of without being intrusive. The ambiance is clean, modern, and inviting, making it a perfect spot for anything from a casual meal to a special night out. If you love Din Tai Fung but hate the wait, Thumbling is your new go-to. We'll definitely be back.

Yelp
This location usually has a really long wait so def recommend joining their waitlist QR code ahead of time. Inside was packed but looked clean. Our table was wiped down with a towel but was soaked with water, I had to use some napkins to dry it off. They have a QR code at each table for self serve ordering. You place your order on the website and wait for your food. I tried their braised beef noodle soup ($15) and shrimp and pork siu mai ($16). Prices were decent and the dishes were pretty solid. The beef noodle soup had 4 good sized tender beef chunks, fresh bok choy, and lots of chewy noodles. The soup was hearty but very oily. The pork siu mai had soup inside and paired well with their vinegar but I thought the shrimp would be in the filling as well not just on top. It did look cute tho! Pretty good experience and would come back when craving Taiwanese food in west co!

Yelp
Expect a wait, best to have someone put your name a good 20-30 minutes in advance to your anticipated meetup time if you're going with a larger party. Interior is clean, lots of foot traffic in and out and expect a loud restaurant. My favorite dish was probably the pork xlb and I really loved the pork chop fried rice and green beans. Huge menu with loads of dishes to choose from. Easy to order all your dishes over the phone and they come out very quickly. Service is prompt and efficient. I definitely see the hype and would love to go back.

Yelp
Hit this spot on a rainy day and still had a line, but the wait moved fast, We were 10th and sat in about 20 minutes. Quick service, fast food turnaround, and solid vibes overall. Standouts: Sesame noodles stole the show, rich, nutty, and super flavorful. Beef noodle soup was a close second. Broth was fatty and rich, with melt in your mouth beef. Shrimp roe fried rice slapped. If you like roe, you'll love this, salty, umami, well balanced. Stir fry noodles were okay, but the beef in it was excellent. XLB (soup dumplings) were decent, not mind blowing, but solid. Didn't love the tap water, but Diet Coke saved the day. Service was quick and attentive, and I'd definitely come back.

Yelp
I love this food very much. I did an online order today and when I went to pay at the register, I noticed an automatic tip added with no way to adjust it. I was fine with this but, what if I went in expecting to pay a specific amount? It was fine. I paid it and a tip option appeared. This feels deceitful. If I had not been paying attention, I would have tipped again not realizing I had already done so. I won't be ordering online again. How disappointing.

Yelp
Heavy foot traffic, so expect a wait. Once we were seated, there was a small glitch where a party had moved to another table, so initially the staff brought items to our table that we didn't order. Luckily, they rectified that issue quickly and our actual order was 100% correct. Portions were ample, plenty to share, and food came out really quickly! I loved the pork chop fried rice and the green beans had a perfect crunch while being flavorful. Least favorite dish was the beef roll. Solid dishes all around. Space is a bit tight, but we got a sweet corner table. I'm a little nervous that someone using accessibility equipment would struggle to navigate the space. Would go again.

Yelp
Met up with a buddy for lunch, and the parking is pretty rough in this plaza. We did the Xiao long Bao, spicy pork and shrimp wontons, beef roll, and noodles in spicy sauce. Everything was bomb, service was solid, and the place looks clean. Would definitely come back.

Yelp
Pro tip: send a friend to put your group's name on the wait list. Scan the QR code outside. Considering we were 19th on the list, the wait was 25-30 minutes. Once seated, you will order via a QR code. Then next thing you know the food comes out when it's ready. It was pretty fast. We definitely were satisfied with our order and got a sampling. Out of all the things we ordered I definitely enjoyed the XLB, spicy wonton, and cucumber. But honestly the whole order was great. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Came here after hearing that this place is just as good as Din tai fung. Was very pleased and very happy that it's close to my office. We tried our typical order from din tai fung which is pork soup dumpling, shrimp fried rice, string beans and addition we got the beef rolls. Everything was good and came out very fast. The one downside of this place is it is small. So the weekends and during the main meals, there will be a wait.

Yelp
It has been a while since I've been to Thumbling but I have finally returned after a year. First off, they finally have an online waitlist when you arrive. You just scan the QR code and join the waitlist. I got lucky and went on a Monday around 11:30am and got seated right away. We ordered the cucumber salad, pork XLB, spicy pork wonton and beef noodle soup. The skin on the XLB was very fragile and I broke a few pieces. I don't remember it being that thin/fragile but at least it still tasted good. The beef was super tender in the beef noodle soup but this time, the broth was really oily. I love the sauce in the spicy pork wontons and enjoyed every bite of it. I can't wait to come back again!

Yelp
Casual, family-friendly busy restaurant with authentic dimsum on the more expensive side. Make sure to get here when it opens or else you'll likely have to wait for a table. Food came out quickly after we ordered. Beef roll - 8/10 delicious, savory, filling dish that I always get Spicy wonton - 8/10 wonderfully flavored and not too spicy Cucumber salad - 6/10 sweet and vinegary Pan-fried pork dumplings - 8/10 crunchy and savory Spinach with garlic - 7/10 fresh, not too oily, filling Xiao long bao - 7/10 a classic but gets stuck together if not eaten quickly Noodles with spicy sauce - 5/10 flavor was nice, but dish was not that memorable

Yelp
Ding Thai dung dupe in West Covina 10/10 Came here on a Saturday around lunch time! No wait table for my party of 3. Once you're seated you scan a QR code which takes you to a menu with self ordering to your table. Once you order waiters come by to confirm and then food comes out! Everything was delish my favorites were the pan fried chicken dumplings!

Yelp
On a Saturday morning at 10:20am in early January, my sister and I waited in line to eat here. There were several people waiting too. Luckily we found a parking spot at 10:15am. The parking lot in the shopping center was full at 10:15am. Inside, the lighting is kinda dark and small of tables and booths. Scan the qc barcode and order from the app which was easy. The staff are nice and speak English and good on refill water cups. The beef noodle soup was really good of big chunks of tender beef with umami beef broth. The xlb dumplings was good too. The pan fried round buns was ok. The pan fried dumplings was good but not crazy about the sauce. The place got full by 10:45am. I could see cars circling around for parking from my window view. FYI. Best to come early when they open and to find parking

Yelp
I've been here about 3 times now and have grown to love it. The food is amazing every time and the service is pretty fast. There's always a long time, and you can't join the waitlist until you reach the restaurant, but I think the food is worth it and it's a great dupe to Din Tai Fung. Shrimp fried rice: 5/5 I really liked this dish, it was very comparable to Din Tai Fung's shrimp fried rice. The portion was bigger and came with substantial shrimp which I really appreciated. Overall, delicious! Sautéed String Beans w/ Garlic: 4/5 I liked this dish a lot, it was really flavorful and had a lot of garlic. I wasn't as crispy as DTF's but overall still really good. Shanghai Spicy Wontons: 4/5 These were good, a bit sweet, and the wontons were really big. The pork mix inside the wonton was good, but not the best spicy wontons I've ever had. Pork XLB: 5/5 I loved their XLB! It was so juicy and the dough was silky soft. I'd definitely order those again, and might even prefer it over DTF since the taste is comparable and the portion was more! Chicken Wings: 5/5 So crispy and tender, and the seasoning is excellent. Definitely a dish worth trying. Overall this place is an excellent dupe to DTF, bigger portions and cheaper. I had a great experience dining here and would definitely come again.

Yelp
First time trying after hearing all the hype. The food was solid! Everything tasted delicious. The Braised beef noodle soup was very light in flavor ( I prefer a stronger flavor). Other than my personal preference I enjoyed everything here. The service is fast and attentive. The only drawback was the seating is limited however, they were able to accommodate my family (including a baby). Definitely would like to come back and try some of the other foods. Parking is very limited here so I recommend coming early or during off times.

Yelp
Solid spot with a great portion size. never had a problem with service and although it can get busy they are very quick. Pretty diverse range of guest and clean sauce containers!
