Thumbling has been consistently excellent over the years. The beef roll is a standout — crispy outside, soft and juicy inside, and it somehow stays crunchy and moist even after getting it home. The pan-fried items are must-orders, especially the shrimp and chive dumplings, which are bouncy, juicy, and full of flavor. The sheng jian bao is another highlight, with a perfectly crisp bottom and soup that literally flows out when you bite in. Compared to Din Tai Fung, this place is much more affordable and, in my opinion, even more satisfying. I also regularly buy their frozen dumplings — they’re cheaper, easy to cook, and still taste great, making them an incredible value. Dine-in wait times can be 1–2 hours, so go early. For takeout or frozen dumplings, call ahead since popular items sell out. Clean, simple space with friendly, efficient service. High quality, great value, and absolutely worth repeat visits.

Well, what a delicious pleasant surprise.. This is the first time that I came here with my niece and every single plate that we ordered was delicious.. It's a definite hidden gem. when we got there it was midweek around 3 or 4 o'clock in the evening, and she told me that that was the first time she's gone to this restaurant that there hasn't been a line.I will be coming back for more dishes i didn't get to order. But we did order the green beans and a cucumber salad, as well as dumplings and wontons and also beef with udon noodles...

The tables are tiny, and the spaces between seating were narrow to the point where I could feel servers' hips brushing the back of my head every few seconds. I personally thought it was hilarious but I know people who would've flipped. The volume was likely due to peak hours, but all you can hear is a mind-numbing cacophony of voices and loud endless clattering. I also felt rushed to eat quickly because of the table size vs the rate the orders were coming out when there was little to no room. However, I'm giving the benefit of the doubt that maybe this was customer error and we should've put in multiple orders in increments of two items. The entire dining experience felt almost surreal. The service itself was pretty good in terms of speed and response, but as I was paying one of the servers kept pressing me for a tip. (They also don't take Discover which I felt like should've been indicated upfront, but whatever.) I didn't press the tip buttons on the tablet after signing because I only give cash, then she impatiently told me "press a button" before going "you tip cash?" when I didn't relent. I was pretty baffled, and it's not like there was a precedent of me stiffing servers. I still gave 25% like I FULLY INTENDED, but if I didn't feel bad for the other servers I probably wouldn't have tipped at all. We left and immediately burst out laughing because of how bizarre everything was. The food was great and the prices weren't bad, but I don't think we'll be returning. At least the pig buns were cute.

fantastic food, we ordered 5 dishes for two people which was a large amount of food and it came out to $75. Stuck to the most popular dishes and didn't disappoint, I'd recommend in a heartbeat if you're in the area

I’ve been ordering from Thumbling through Uber Eats for a while but finally came in recently with my partner and I’m so glad we did. The food is incredibly tasty; we didn’t leave a single leftover. The xiaolongbao dumplings are just as juicy and flavorful as the ones from Din Tai Fung, which says a lot. Noodle delicious and garlic string beans are yummy. It’s great to have an option this good so close by, and at a really solid price point. The tables were full when we arrived, so there was a bit of a wait, but nothing unreasonable. Service wasn’t overly personal, but they did check in on us, kept our water refilled, and the teas came out very quickly. Overall, it was a great experience. I’ll definitely be coming back. This place has officially become one of my favorites. Note: Parking can be very challenging. Definitely avoid parking near the car entrance—you will get stuck.

The best din tai xxx copy restaurants. The got the marinated seaweed bean sprout salad down. As far as pork xiao long bao, Thumbling got the skin and dumpling juice perfect. However the flavor is missing something. I end up using the chili sauce to add flavor to the dumplings. Finally, the yellow chives & shrimp & pork pan fried dumplings were great. Made to perfection and the sauce really hit it home for me. Thumbling does get pretty busy during meal hours. The great thing is that they made it easy a really good wait list system. You just scan the QR code and enter number in your party and phone number. You will get a text when table is ready. Food ordering is via QR code as well. Definitely a revisit is necessary.

Best xiao long bao in SoCal, so far! Everything else on the menu has been top tier as well. The process of placing an order is so efficient that I wish all restaurants would implement the same system. Really the only negative thing I can say about this place is the long wait time, which for me so far has been up to 1 hour. Regardless, it's worth the wait.

Thumbling was very delicious the service 10/10 everything comes out so fast once you order. I must say it's a small place which my family and I didn't like it's very crowded you are seated super close to the next parties feels very overstimulated hopefully they get to open a bigger location that'll be more spacious.

Love Thumbling! One of my go to spots with classmates and friends. Would give this place a solid 4.8/5 stars. This is one of those food establishments that I could go back to again and again! I even went twice in a single week because 2 different friend groups invited me (3 times in a single month ). It's a classic dumpling spot with a slight Cantonese styled twist. Parking isn't much of an issue with the large lot but waiting definitely is. During peak hours especially, the waiting can get up to 30-50 mins long but the establishment is decently sized and is just super popular among locals and visitors. The staff and service is great and constantly checking in on customers and making sure everything is alright. One different occasions, I get different things but the xiao long baos are juicy, delicious, and a mouthful of warmth. The stir-fried noodles are so oily but so delicious. It's a classic dry noodle dish with a cantonese taste that I love. These two items, I get every time I come. The shrimp fired rice is a classic dish and nothing special but still delicious nonetheless. Same with the pan-fried dumplings. The scallion beef rolls were interesting as they contained cucumber and it was definitely a surprise for me as I've only eaten them with cucumbers here. Not a fan but the beef rolls still tasted good. The siu mai were also delicious and juicy. A surprise I hadn't eaten in a while that was super delicious was the salt and pepper squid; super savory, salty and crispy. Thumbling is a classic restaurant and despite the long lines and busy ambiance, I always come back to it.

New favorite dumpling spot. Go hungry cause, believe me, you're going to want to try everything! Quick service. Clean. Delicious food! I stuck to the chicken items since I have a shellfish allergy, my siblings ate the seafood ones. And we loved everything we tried. We're already planning another trip back. Til next time!

My coworker and I had lunch here on Thursday. We have actually been to Thumbelina many times before and never had an issue, which is why what happened this time was so shocking and upsetting. As we were leaving the restaurant, one of the servers suddenly blocked our way and loudly told us that we could not leave because we had not paid. This was extremely embarrassing because we had already paid our bill. In fact, my card was later charged twice. What made the situation even worse was how it was handled. Instead of calmly checking the receipt or reviewing the transaction, the staff began yelling across the restaurant that we had not paid. Another employee was hitting the counter and speaking loudly while the entire restaurant stopped eating and stared at us. We were completely humiliated in front of everyone. After reviewing the charges, it appears the employee may have mixed up our bill with another table's order. The totals were very similar, but ours was about $53 while the other was around $48. Despite this being a clear mistake on their end, no one apologized for the embarrassment or inconvenience. Not only were we publicly accused of not paying, but my card was also charged twice. At the very least, we expected a sincere apology or some effort to correct the situation respectfully. Unfortunately, none was offered. We had always spoken highly of this restaurant to our coworkers and even held work lunches there in the past, but after this experience that will no longer be happening. A situation like this could have been resolved quickly and respectfully with a simple review of the receipt and an apology. Instead, it turned into a public accusation that left us embarrassed in front of a full restaurant. Because of how this was handled, we will not be returning.

I was really excited to try Thumbling since I kept hearing comparisons to Din Tai Fung, but unfortunately it didn't live up to the hype. I called shortly after opening and was quoted a 25-minute wait for takeout. The timing was accurate and my order was ready right when I arrived, which I appreciated. Tried the pork XLB ($8 for 6 pieces), HK Shrimp & Pork Wonton Noodle Soup ($15), Chicken Egg Fried Rice ($15), and Beef Fried Noodle ($17). Most of the soup inside the XLBs had already leaked out - though that's probably just the downside of getting them to-go. The bigger issue was that the fried rice and noodles were pretty bland and needed extra soy sauce and chili for flavor. The chili oil itself was purely oil, so I'm not sure what went wrong there while packaging. The service also felt a bit rushed. The gentleman assisting me quickly handed over my order and walked away without much interaction. Staff seems to speak limited English but can understand enough to get by. Thumbling is located in the same plaza as 85 Degrees and Dave's Hot Chicken. It's a large plaza, but parking can be tough during peak hours. I was surprised to see Thumbling almost completely full around noon on a weekday. Unfortunately, the food just didn't quite meet my expectations.

My friends have raved about this place so I am glad that I was finally able to try it!! I came here when it opened at 11am on a Friday and was seated immediately, while party must be present before getting seated. We got a variety of items from the menu including the cucumber salad, pork soup dumplings, pork potstickers, beef rice rolls, and beef udon stir fry. Everything was super yummy and affordable!! Service was quick and friendly!! They even boxed up our leftovers! Parking lot is small and pretty busy. By the time we finished, there was already a line!

Thumbling is a great alternative to Din Tai Fung, and true local spot. I visited twice, once on a weekday night and a Saturday morning. Even on a weekday nignt there's a wait. If you go on weekend mornings before it opens, you can easily get a table. Food comes out pretty fast, and it's all delicious. You can find most of the Din Tai Fung classics here and more. My favorite are the pan fried dumpling baos. Overall, great restaurant.

006/2026/Jan My wonderful and delightful experience with my family for dinner was really awesome with their attentive service and appetizing dishes!! It was raining and the wait was from and hour or more ! For a party of 11 it was quiet a wait which we were on a waiting list # 17 !!! Grandkids were hungry believe it or not they all want different eats so we went to a bakery, a chicken and hot dog place to get them something to munch while waiting! Surprisingly Our turn came after an hour !! We were seated and started ordering online using QR code on the table !!! That's fast service which was really awesome! The Shanghai rice cake dish was my favorite!! The taste was just dancing with delight from the flavor in every bite ! Love the Masago fried rice which pops with tasteful with every spoonfull !! For dessert my daughter ordered the salted egg dumpling , and oh my that was a rich filling of the duck egg yolk with the flavor and texture !!! NOW! WHY 4 stars from this experience ??? We were getting ready to leave when i saw my granddaughter still finishing her food ! But there was a staff waiting for us to vacate the table ! I told the gentleman staff ,who was impatiently hovering at the end of our table , that she was just finishing her food and he responded and pointed to a group of customers that they have been waiting for 2 hours!!! I thought that was a rude comment cause we all waited for our turn ! That really was unacceptable!!!

Pro tip: call ahead to check the wait -- there's no Yelp check-in, and you have to be there in person to get on the list. Sampling hasn't been open very long, but there's almost always a line before they even open. Wait times can easily run 45 minutes to an hour, so I recommend having someone stop by early to put your name down. If you catch them on a good day and time, the food is absolutely worth it. Fresh ingredients, a great variety of handmade dumplings, and honestly such a special spot to have nearby. One thing I miss -- they used to have a clear view of the kitchen where you could watch the dumplings being made, but that's now closed off. Not a dealbreaker, just something I noticed. You order through the app once seated, service is smooth, and overall it's a great experience. I'd definitely recommend coming with family -- just plan ahead for the wait.

Ok, lemme just say this: Don't ever let them sit you at the bar. That's like asking "do you like staring at a wall and paying a bunch of money to do it?" The bar was dumb. The food was good! I like the beef roll, the chicken rice cakes and the chicken dumplings. All very good. The dumpling sauce and chili sauce were so good too. The service was horrid. We had to ask multiple times for water refills. Was this cuz they think we're idiots for sitting at the bar and staring at the wall? Probably. It was jam packed too. We got in right at 4:30p but any min after that and your gonna wait a stupid amount of time. And you'll probably be at the bar. The bar that has no cocktails. Just a wall to stare at. Dumb.

I hear a lot of people compare this place to din tai fung, very similar menu some things they do way better some things not to the level of din tai. They have way better wontons and soup dumplings, more fillings and the meat is moist and flavorful on the inside. The bao however has less filing. Overall our food came out very fast for late lunch hour and it was all fresh and delicious, served quickly, and we sat right away! Very pleased and can't wait to come back!

Crowded every time come here. Had to wait half an hour for party of 11 to be seated. As always it's all worth the wait. Food was great. Very consistent and full of flavor. Ambiance noisy but comfortable and fun for family experience. Will always come back here.

Went for dinner tonight 3/15/26 with my family, most reviews I'm reading are fairly accurate. The people at the front with the iPads/tablets could've been a bit more friendly, as they just kind of ignored you until it was your turn to be seated and barely said anything. On the bright side, I think the manager (a shorter Asian woman) came by after we sat down and was super sweet and chatty, which we appreciated. The food ordering is done through a QR code, but just FYI, you might need to flag down a server if you need help. They don't really check in on tables. Big kudos to the kitchen and servers though; our food came out very fast and was delicious. We were a party of 5, and everything was served in 5-15 minutes. One downside was the limited space at the table. It filled up quickly, and there wasn't a ton of room to move around. But the staff were really patient and worked with us to make everything fit. Overall a good first-time experience! The server with an arm tattoo was very helpful in recommending dishes and even helped us take a photo at the end. I would highly recommend the beef roll and sweet and sour baby ribs ! Just keep in mind that it can get pretty busy, so expect to wait an hour or more during peak times.

Thumbling XLB for $13! It's a little far but the XLB is larger. They also sell Pork Chop Fried Rice. We ordered the pan fried pork bun, which was a little disappointing. Tasty and delicious XLB makes the commute worth it!

Food was ok Parking is hard, place is busy and fast Only complaint is about the service. They try to rush you in ordering. They don't seem to have time in talking to you. They expect you to know what you want and move on. Not very friendly. Never going back

I used to live in West Covina so when this first opened I was here all the time ! I actually can't believe I haven't reviewed this place already, it's my favorite dumpling spot and I've tried many all over California. The wait times can get really long , I came on a Sunday at 11 am and I actually got seated right away but as soon as it was closer to 12 pm there were a lot of people waiting to sit. I'd definitely come early or if you don't mind waiting it's in a cute plaza with other things you can walk to. The food is amazing, everything I've ever ordered always hits the spot. Some of my favorite sides are the cucumber salad and green beans. I always get a fried rice or noodle and soup! 3-4 different kinds of dumplings depending on your party size but we had 3 of us and still had left overs so it can really fill you up I'd say order less and you can always order more!

The xiao long bao (soup dumplings) were juicy and flavorful, and the spare ribs had the perfect crunch with a sweet and spicy glaze. We tried Thumping for the first time and had a generally good experience. The food quality is solid, though I wouldn't call it spectacular--it's just a very dependable spot. The Atmosphere & Logistics The space is quite small and they definitely pack the tables in as best they can to maximize seating. Because of this, the wait can get really long. Pro Tip: You absolutely need to register for the digital wait-list ahead of time. It saved us a lot of headache! The Food Spicy Wontons: These have a serious kick! Definitely spicier than what you'll find at other spots, but still very yummy. Shu Mai: A bit of a surprise--it's not your traditional flavor profile, but it was unique and tasty. Kid Favorites: The kids polished off the fried pork chop, shrimp fried rice, fried calamari, and the beef noodles. Everything was kid-approved! The Finish: A highlight was the simple bowl of beef broth served toward the end of the meal. It was delicious and served as a perfect palate cleanser. Service Despite how crowded it was, the service was excellent. The host was fantastic, and the servers were attentive and kept the food coming out relatively quickly once we were seated. Overall, we enjoyed our visit. It's a great local find as long as you manage the wait-list properly! We will come back

It is good! Everything is very authentic! Why go to DTF to line up for hours when you have very same competitive items, if not better... Although the wait in line is still like 45 minutes... The servers are pretty alert when they see you look around, they offer helps immediately. The dining room is a bit crowded and noisy.

Last weekend, I ate at Thumbling with a couple of long-time friends from high school. This dumpling restaurant was commendable in many areas... The food was delicious, the service was great (once we were able to get seated since there was a long wait outside) and the ambiance was that of a successful business bustling with satisfied customers! In terms of the food, my friends and I ate around four bowls worth of dumplings, and the fried rice plus fried noodles were tasty as well. The beverages, such as Thai iced tea, were provided in customized sippy cups that you can take home. And ordering our meal was very quick since we can do it on our phones. As is the case with many popular Asian establishments here in SoCal, parking was tricky as the lot was packed! Would I go back to Thumbling again, you ask? Yes-- To have another great gathering with great friends!

Went to thumbling on Tuesday night and was surprised at how busy it was around 8 pm! Anyways you order from the QR code with your phone and food comes out as it's made. I like to keep it paced out so I ordered in rounds. I didn't really think the spicy wontons, the pork xlb or the pork sticky rice wrap was good.... They were okay but I probably won't order it again. Sticky rice wrap was really really bland. And wontons were too sweet... The beef tenderloin was really good, the boiled dumplings were fricking good and I liked the pan fried dumplings! Will come back to try more things but idk I felt like it was ok experience???

Wow! This place was worth the wait. Came on a Monday night and we were 15th on the waitlist. On a Wednesday night around 7pm, we were 9th on the waitlist and waited 30-minutes. Food was amazing. We got the Xiao long bao, beef rolls, rice cake sir fry with pork, stir fried noodles with shrimp and green beans. My favorite were the green beans and rice cake. Service was quick and you can order via QR code on the table. There's also a QR code outside to join the waitlist. We'll be back!

After experiencing a SCRUMPTIOUS meal at Thumbling, I absolutely get the hype around dumplings now! WOW, were my socks blown off! For starters, it was a PACKED HOUSE! Every table had a party seated and the staff we're slingin' food left and right. This was a telltale sign that I was about to have a delicious experience. I met up with a group of friends for dinner who had been there before and was told "trust the process". By that, my friends meant "we'll do all the ordering: we got you". That, they sure did and I would trust them to do it all over again!! I loved how efficient the ordering process was, where each person could scan the barcode on the table, and whatever was ordered would all go to the table, no matter which device it was ordered from. (this was my first time experiencing the style of ordering/payment! So awesome!) Every dish we ordered, from appetizers, to dumplings, was made to order; hot and fresh! It was love at first bite - WOW! Every dumpling I had, paired with the dumpling sauce and chili oil was absolutely delectable! The cucumber salad was my absolute favorite. Such a simple and refreshing dish, yet packed with MAJOR flavor. Another notable was the chicken pan fried dumplings. I still think about that perfect crisp!! Overall, I HIGHLY recommend this spot to any and all folks craving some solid dumplings. Definitely go with a group if you can, so you can try more menu options :)

Hesitant to write a review because I'm a selfish shellfish but this is my absolutely favorite spot to eat. Food is so good, I be rolling out, service so quick my mouth doesn't have time to water before I'm already stuffing my face. My only complaint is that they should purchase the restaurant next door, not to name names but it rhymes with Claves Dot picken, and extend their seating area. My go to food, try everything, nothing will disappoint you.

Thumbling in West Covina is a solid option when you're craving dumplings and don't want to drive too far. The dumplings are juicy, well seasoned, and come out hot, and the beef noodle soup is comforting with a rich broth and tender meat. It's the kind of meal that hits the spot when you want something warm and filling. Is it on the same level as Din Tai Fung? Not quite, but it's also not trying to be. For a quick, local fix the quality is good and the portions are satisfying. Service is straightforward and the food comes out in a reasonable time, which makes it an easy in and out meal. If you're in the area and want dumplings and noodle soup without the wait or the drive, this place definitely does the job.

Conveniently located right off the 10 Freeway -- got here at 11am and was seated right away. Ordered the Pork Xiao Long Bao, Wonton Soup, Sticky Rice and Pork Sui Mai, and Vegetarian Fried Noodle. Wait times of one to two hours are common. For takeout or frozen dumplings, it's best to call ahead--popular items often sell out. Their Hong Kong-style wontons are also very well done and worth trying if available. The space itself is simple but clean and comfortable, with bright lighting. Service is friendly and efficient, making the overall experience easy and enjoyable despite the crowds. High value, high quality, and absolutely worth repeat visits.

Overall, a really solid restaurant. It was pretty packed on a Monday at 8pm, but the wait was only around 15-20 minutes. The tables are a little close together (at least where we sat), but the service was quick. The total cost was $80. We also got the milk tea and Thai iced tea. Both drinks were good, but nothing special. Pork Xiao Long Bao - Juicy and decently sized. They were flavorful with a good amount of filling, and arrived hot and steamy at the table. I was able to finish all of them myself, but they're definitely shareable. Spicy Pork Xiao Long Bao - Pretty much the same as the regular ones, just with a kick of spice. My spice tolerance isn't very high, so I found them a bit spicy. I'd say it was probably slightly above mild. Chicken Egg Fried Rice - Note: the photo I attached was taken after I already served some. It comes in a good portion. Tasty and simple in flavor. Not anything spectacular, but I'd still recommend it. Pork Fried Dumplings - Pretty good. Crispy on the outside with a nice filling. I'm not the biggest fan of fried dumplings, so my opinion's a bit biased. Overall, a nice spot for a quick meal with friends or family!

I'll never need to go to Din Tai Fung again. Thumbling is 1945934999133x better!! To begin with, I'm not the biggest fan of din tai fung. I feel like their xiao long baos are lacking, and the rest of their food just tastes not that special?? It took me quite a while to try thumbling despite it being closer to me. But so far I think it's my favorite restaurant that serves this kind of Taiwanese & shanghainese food. You can order through the qr code at the table. Food comes out in a decent amount of time. The beef noodles are so flavorful. Fried rice, xiao long bao, and spicy chili oil wontons all good! overall everything is just yummy!

I'm really disappointed with my experience today. I came in to pick up an order, and not just one but three employees looked directly at me and still ignored me. All three made eye contact and dismissed me without offering help. It wasn't until another customer pointed it out to the third employee that I was finally acknowledged. This should never happen to anyone. Very unprofessional and disappointing.

First off, they do things differently when ordering. Everyone at the table scans the barcode and it brings up an order page. Everyone can add things from their own phone and it is added to the table order. When you're done, you submit the order and they start bringing stuff out. They'll bring a receipt with your order on it and stick it to the table so they know what they brought. I liked this. It was fast and easy. This place is delicious. We tried a few things and they were all good. I loved the spicy pork Xiao long bao. The paper beef with udon noodles was my second favorite. This place is often crowded and a line out the door. We got there at 1050 and there was a line. It opened at 11am. We were seated immediately. Definitely recommend.

Went to Thumbling on a Sunday evening. The wait for two wasn't bad, even though there were a few people ahead of us. We got seated fairly quickly and ordered a few dishes. Everything was flavorful and good, but nothing really stood out. We tried the garlic string beans, pork buns, fried rice, cucumber salad, and the braised noodle soup. The place was crowded, and the staff was attentive but it did start to feel like they were rushing people out because of the long lines outside. Toward the end of our meal, we slowed down a bit to chat, and noticed a few servers hovering. Within about three minutes, at least three different staff members were eyeing our table with their iPads, whispering and pointing like we were supposed to be done. It definitely felt like they were waiting for us to leave, which made the end of the meal uncomfortable. I get that they're trying to keep the line moving and avoid long wait times, but it still made us feel rushed and that took away from the experience a bit. The place had nice lighting and lots of seating, ambience was good.

Basically, din tai fung but family style and less... stiff. On a Wednesday night this place was bustling with groups of family, friends, lovers on dates which shows the appeal to anyone and everyone. They also provide various table, booth and high top/bar seating for all the different parties. Now, the food: everything we ordered was so good and hit exactly like you want it to. As a first timer, ordering off the 'most popular' section of the menu did not steer us wrong. The portions are generous. The only thing was that the bottom of the soup dumplings keep sticking to the paper and so the soup would spill out. Sad. Very efficient ordering on your phones at the table and food comes out quickly as well. Free parking in the lot shared with other restaurants and businesses. This might've been my first visit to this area and would definitely come back!

I did a walk up for two. You have to get on the waitlist by scanning the QR code outside. They were quick to seat us. I ordered the sautéed string beans and garlic, spicy pork wontons, spicy noodles, spicy beef udon, pork bao. My personal favorites were the spicy beef udon and spicy pork wontons. Of all the spicy food items the spicy beef udon had the least amount of heat but it had great taste and there isn't anything comparable offered at some other similar places. They have some seating in high chairs that faces a frosted glass window. You are facing away from the rest of the restaurant so you don't see anything the whole time.

My go to recommendation for authentic XLBs for those who don't want to wait 3 hours for Ding Tai Fung. HONESTLY, I think the XLBs here are better and the side dishes are all tasty as well. Get the cucumbers and also the beef rolls. The spicy peanut noodles are also an umami bomb.

Before I review, I want to tell everyone to sign up using the QR code before you go. The QR code can be found on yelp menu picture section. You take a screenshot and long tap to access it. There's always a line. -------------------------------- I have been here three times now and every time the food has been consistent. Served hot and fresh and the price is very good. We spent $130 after tips and taxes for 5 adults this time. Things we ordered and evaluations: 1. Sesame noodle: Vert rich and flavorful. The noodle could be just a liiiitle more aldente. 2. Fried rice with chicken and shrimp: A staple dish! Shrimp is cooked right and plump. Flavor is there but some people need chili oil that's on the table. 3. Kung pao chicken: this dish is totally slept on! The chicken is fried and cooked in sauce. Veggies are also good. 4. Pork XLB: you cannot miss this. Try not to break the skin! It's so good we ordered twice. 5. Pan fried Dumpling: this was pretty normal. Not bad tho. 6. Green beans: nicely cooked with garlic but it was a little too oily for what it is. 7. Egg drop soup: some people might think this is bland- but this is a nice "taking a break" soup from all the other flavorful food. As an Asian this was something comforting. Service- you will be ordering thru your phone. So not much of interaction with the server. It's good for the business for efficiency but not tip deserving especially when they never ask you how we are doing or checking on the water. We have to ask for water. We still tipped 15% ish. Ambiance- always crowded. Which is good! You know you're at the right place. The condiments and tables can be a little cleaner.

Come here all the time for lunch and it never disappoints! The service is great and the environment is always so lively. The food is probably the best dumplings you'll get in the city. Always will keep coming back!

This is very similar the DTF. I think it's much better and less than half the price! The food is great! Every dish I've tried has been amazing! My favorites are the beef noodles, spicy XLB, beef roll and the pork short ribs! The service is pretty non existent but that's ok with me I'm not going there for service. You order your food via the QR code at the table and they bring out your dishes. There is no one coming around to ask how your food is or to offer you a dessert menu. It's very informal but delicious! Overall I would recommend! Expect to wait at least 30 mins to be seated. Expect parking will be a little limited. But the food will be amazing! And very reasonably priced!

Believe the hype on TikTok because this is one of those times it's real! Everything I've tried here is amazing. We have celebrated 2 birthdays and their accommodations for bringing in a cake is so appreciated. The place is super small and a little congested because it's always packed but it does not alter the experience what so ever. Please try the BEEF ROLL it is so freaking bomb! I wish I had more pictures but we usually go straight to devouring everything we lose track of documentation lol

Thumbling Covina is good, but not amazing. The food has solid flavor, but it was pretty greasy, which took away from the experience a bit. It's not bad by any means and could hit the spot if you're craving something indulgent, but it didn't really stand out to me. I might give it another try, but it's not a must-have for me right now.

I've been going to Thumbling ever since I moved to Covina a few years back, and wow, has it exploded in popularity! I remember the days when we could just stroll in and be seated in 15-20 minutes. Now, you've got to jump on the waitlist, and sometimes you're looking at an hour wait! But hey, good for them! Honestly, they totally deserve it because their dumplings are amazing! The XLB is a must-have. We're also big fans of the pork chop fried rice, those pan-seared steamed chicken buns, and the pork and shrimp chili wontons. So good! Since the wait can be pretty long and the place isn't great for bringing a baby (it can get cramped), we've started ordering takeout. It still tastes just as delicious, so I definitely recommend that if you're not up for waiting forever!

In my opinion, this spot is so much better than Din Tai Fung. The menu has so many delicious options, and it's perfect for a family-style meal where everyone can try a bit of everything. My personal favorite is the sweet-and-sour pork ribs. They're packed with flavor and just so fun to eat. You also can't go wrong with the xiao long bao or the spicy wontons. Both always hit the spot. The pork chop fried rice is another must-try, and I love getting the seaweed and bean curd salad as an appetizer for something refreshing. The corn and pork dumplings are so underrated. The texture is amazing, and the flavor combo is surprisingly fantastic. Don't skip the fried green beans either. It's nice to balance out a meal with a veggie, and these are crispy and making eating your greens fun. Service is really fast, and I love how you can conveniently order straight from your phone, with pictures of the menu too.

Ordered to go this time and they had everything prepared by the time i got there! my favorites were their pan fried dumplings, crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside. Loved their XLB as well. It was very juicy and still warm when i got home. the beef noodle soup was also yummy along with the beef roll. The fried rice wasn't the best, a bit salty and clumpy. i would still come back again as their price is rlly good and lots of options to choose from!

Food was good, there was a long wait but they text you when your tables ready. Very clean also, I'll definitely be returning

We ordered beef noodle soup, spicy shrimp wonton, clear beef soup with noodle, string beans, XLB. Other than beef noodle soup and spicy shrimp wonton were good, the rest were not good to average. The beef in clear beef soup was hard to chew and the string beans were old. The taste of XLB was very bland(DTF was better).

First time dining inside Thumbling after ordering to go since they opened. Fast and efficient service and food. Incredibly sweet servers that remained attentive throughout our meal. I always try to order something I haven't tried each time I eat Thumbling and have yet to be disappointed. Thank you for all the deliciousness!
