Beautiful view and vibrant flavors! If you wanna get away and have a great meal with a view, this is your spot! They have a great variety of flavors and great drinks! (Even if you aren't drinking alcohol!) Looking forward to the Pad Thai! I've been craving noodle bowls lately, and these were perfect spicy sweet heat!

Google
One of the best burgers I’ve had in a long time. The Bacon Jam Burger did not disappoint! Bright and open space with big windows to look out towards the Columbia River. It was cold and raining today, but there is a deck which would be great in a sunny day. They had dog beds to borrow for you pups. Large selection of beers on taps and quite a few ciders as well. I will definitely be back, would be a great spot to refuel after a hike.

I just flew in town for the first time for the breweries and sights then randomly saw this place. Explored the menu and fell in love. Cool people, beautiful views from location and damn good beer. Get the flights(8), the deluxe burger-extra patty with fries, and i promise you that you will not be disappointed! Though you may have to be carried out in a wheelbarrow after all that but this Gem is WORTH IT! Thank you for the experience!

Google
Pros: the Sweet Chili Cauliflower appetizer and their Sweet Potato Waffle Fries are incredible. Cons: just about everything else. Service was interesting. Everyone was nice, but only if they graced you with their time and attention. Because once seated, you have to flag them down every time for everything, like refills of water. Regarding the food....as others have mentioned, they seem to be trying to be all trendy with their slightly gluten-oppressed and vegan-adjacent menu, or in plain terms, they're trying too hard. The burger with supposed bacon onion jam had a weird, too-sweet after-taste that overpowered all other flavors (yet this alleged "jam" was nothing but bacon bits and sauteed onions). The blackened chicken sandwich was tasteless and dry. The chicken bowl was plain rice, plain shredded cabbage, and a plain, unseasoned flattened chicken breast with those fake grill lines on it from the food service company, and all with zero flavor. The chicken curry had nearly no actual chicken and was, very strangely, served with plain, un-buttered, un-toasted French bread. Like, why and wtf and who thought up that combo?? The few strands of wilted, limp microgreens dropped on top of the chicken bowl is their idea of supporting local farmers, i guess. But their chicken isn't locally raised? And as a brewery, they don't make their own root beer? Feels like some good "we support locals" lip service with no substance. Most breweries generally all have some tried and true dishes that go excellent with beer, such as nachos or pizza or sliders, but that have their own personal flair added to their menu to make the dishes their own. Thunder Island just has thin, little egg rolls and taste-free tofu bowls and vegetable appetizers; surely, super enticing dishes for beer drinkers (he said sarcastically). Plus, it pisses me off that a place with so little flavor thinks they deserve charging $20 for these dishes. Blasphemy! The space itself is rather odd and bland. Glaring white walls with glaringly bright lights with no artwork or atmosphere. For a place with the word "Thunder" is their name, the space feels awfully timid and meek. Not really impressed, overall, but I guess I'd eat there again if nothing else was open and there were no other options.

Stopped in as a quick lunch stop as I was traveling from Western WA to Eastern WA on a Monday. I didn't have any wait time and was greeted and seated immediately. Everything was clean and inviting with great views. The Kerabu Snacking Salad was amazing from first bite to last. Perfect combination of sweet, refreshing, and a slow heat. I would eat this on the regular. The Buffalo Cauliflower had an unfamiliar taste which I didn't care for but I think that is just a personal taste preference. Plenty of other menu items for me to try next time instead of the cauliflower.

Google
Friendly for kids, but large groups seem to cause mayhem and be an inconvenience. The hostess seemed upset that we even arrived, but eventually we figured out a table. But on to important things- The glaring western sun made it hard to be comfortable and talk with friends (believe in blinds?) Vegan ranch - thick (not good). Regular ranch - totally fine. Most burgers have great pickles, or at least enough pickles to have good pickle taste with each bite. They give you a taste, NOT enough pickle. On a good note, I respect the Halloween decorations. And they do have dinosaurs.

This place was exactly what we needed after hiking through the Columbia River Gorge all day. I got an 8 beer flight and liked every single one. Food was awesome, orange chicken was perfect and the spring rolls were excellent. Would definitely go back!

Google
Well. Not great. Got there at 6:45 and checked in, was given no idea of a wait time. My bad for not asking. Waited a full hour to be seated, ok. They were really busy. Got to our seats and sat there for 20 minutes when our waiter who had helped others that sat after us, noticed we were there. Came and said he could take our order if we were ready. Lol. We were clearly ready. Ordered our food and waited another 40 minutes for two burgers and fries. And more than half mine were burnt. Waiter never came to check on us until the end. He asked how our food was and I pointed out my burnt fries and wanders off and was back in less than a minute with a bowl of new fries. Fasted event of the evening but, at this point, I just want to go home. I refused the offering. I get being short staffed. I truly do but over all, this was beyond what I could justify.

Yelp
Pretty good highly suggest the bacon Jam burger I'm not a bacon jam fan but gawd damn it's fire

Yelp
Really cool new building in Cascade Locks, OR. Dining room and bar are upstairs and it's a really cool space. For beer we did the 140 IPA and the Good Grief IPA. Both were excellent in their own way. Wife had the Kimchi Reuben which was spot on and I don't know why I would ever have a Reuben w anything but Kimchi from now on. I had the Kedai Pan Mee. Excellent noodle dish. Perfectly spicy. Overall, exactly the experience we were looking for after 3 hours in a car to get here. Well Done Thunder Island!

Yelp
This has become an "always stop" when we're on the way to Hood River! There is usually a wait, especially during the summer, but we expect that and snag a beer and sit in the garden until it's our turn. We like all of their IPAs, both the seasonal and year round one. Bring back the Capri Sun IPA, please! Also like their food! Their bowls are the highlight, especially the salmon. I cannot recall the bowl they since removed but it had noodles and an egg in with a fantastic spicy sauce, I hope to see that again too. The restaurant is two storied with a bar downstairs and dining/another bar upstairs with outside seating. Service is always prompt and polite.

Yelp
My first visit to Thunder Island Brewing was both delicious and eventful. The Bacon Jam Burger was excellent, even if a little messy. The fries were perfect, including the sweet potato fries I stole from my friend. The strawberry cider was cold and hit the spot. As for the eventful part - I wish I knew our waitress's name, in order to give her proper credit. We saw a small child who was only partially dressed running down the side street towards the main road, in the rain. Without a second thought, our waitress ran outside, swooped him up, and brought him inside. She contacted the bar owner, who brought clean clothes and diapers for the child. No frantic parent/s came looking for this child, and by the time we left, a sheriff's deputy had arrived. Turns out our waitress is a superhero, and it's not every day you get a great meal served by a superhero. Head up to Cascade Locks to get yours!

Yelp
There are too many words, not enough attention. First, never expected this place based on on location. Did a hike around Multnomah Falls, seemed nearby. Please do not be fooled! Cascade Locks is a treasure trove for foodies. This is one of the few places that I literally went back to, to try the same dish twice! The dishes in question were the Kimchi Rueben, and the Ale Poached Pear and Beet Salad. The salad was ridiculous. I don't know how they can marry flavors so well, that pears and beets work. And how do you make a Reuben with kimchi? I will admit, the first time through, I was not convinced that this worked, but after the second time, I understood. Look, the deck is amazing, the service is amazing, the food is spectacular. This is a rare gem in an obscure place

Yelp
Wow this was amazing! I had the salmon bowl which was amazing and I ate 1/2. The next day my son ate the left overs and asked where I got it because it was so good! Saying a lot the day after. The fries were perfect! The ranch is made in house and was great. I air fried my left over fries and they were still great! Great portions and prices. I love the great food options! The staff are great, there is a kid area for the littles, games for all ages, and the must see is the view!!! That view is amazing while enjoying a local beer and amazing food.

Yelp
This is a brewery in an area without many breweries nearby and close to trails filled with thirsty hikers. What I'm getting at, is that even if they were phoning-it-in and brewing passable beer, it would still be highly rated. This place doesn't NEED to brew amazing beer. But, dear reader, this place DOES brew amazing beer. Their West Coast Pilsner was one of the best beers I've had this year. Crisp, Clean, and Tropical. It's similar to a beer I brew that I call "Tropical Depression Pils". The food is good, but not great. It's typical brewpub fare. But if you've just hiked a ton of miles, it's the perfect treat.

Yelp
We got there En Route to the Cascade Locks. Since we relied on the Colombia Gorge express , this place was located very conveniently (for us) near the CAT bus stop. We got seating inside (as the patio view deck was full), enjoyed the ambiance and the wooden interiors. The beer was so refreshing, and the food was a decent size for sharing . Service was great even though place was really busy. There is a small play place for kids, and there's some merchandise available too. Must visit place, will definitely go back !

Yelp
Nice second floor dining and outdoor deck. Pups welcome on the deck and they get their own bowl of water. Food was fresh and tasty. Views of the river, cliffs and mtn are best from the deck.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find a brewery with a menu like this in Cascade Locks. I tried the Kimchi Reuben and loved it! It was a unique twist on a classic sandwich and it was a great combination of flavors. I also appreciated how many non-beer options they had to drink. I loved the kombucha that I had.

Yelp
Love the vibes here, just off the street and by the river and Bridge of Gods. We sat outside, and was the perfect weather. Service was great as well, and beer was tasty. We got the chips with guacamole and salsa, which were nice corn tortilla chips with a good crunch. Great place to hangout, also have TVs inside showing sports with bar seating.

Yelp
Real brewery on the ground floor, open, spacious dining area with stellar views on the 2nd floor. Very kid-friendly with kids menu and small play area. Great beer, tasty food but docked them 1 star for not-quite genuine Asian dishes. Five of us for beers and dinner yesterday including my 7 y.o. Grandson. Nice selection of beers, I ordered the saison which arrived promptly and was excellent. Grandson had chicken nuggets and fries which he judged were excellent, the fries are great! The rest of tried an assortment of bowls. I had the ginger tofu which had a delightful crisp coating on the tofu, but I missed a stronger ginger flavor. The salmon bowl is arguably the best of the bowls with a generous piece of fish. The somen pork noodle bowls was good, but disappointed that it came with rice noodles instead of wheat which somen should be. We ordered the mango sticky rice which I have had in numerous thai restaurants, but it was ordinary rice with a coconut cream sauce which made it almost a rice pudding texture. Tasty, but not truly sticky. Service was OK - our server was clearly a rookie, and once he took our order we didn't see him again until he brought the tab. We left fully and happy, but wishing for just a bit more.

Yelp
My friends and I stopped in here this past weekend, which was the weekend of a big 10k run in town. They were very busy so we had a lot more patience this time but I have been here 2 other times and they were almost as slow. So, if you don't have a lot of time, I would keep on looking for another place to eat. If you have time and patience and love good beer/cider, then this is the stop for you. From the time we were sat until we got our food, it took 55 minutes. Their pomegranate cider was OUT OF THIS WORLD. Crisp, delicious, tart with a tiny bit of sweet and oh so icy cold and refreshing. I wish they sold this where I live. The best cider I have ever tasted, tbh. My husband loved his juicy ipa and I took a taste and agreed it was also outstanding in flavor and body. The food was also very good. Every person in our party loved what they ordered. I had a pear and beet salad which was one of the best salads I have ever had. My husband raved about his burger. My friends had the reuben and they also loved it. I love a restaurant that knows how to make dips and sauces - it is pretty easy, so you know if they can do that, the food is also gonna be good. Their ranch dressing was absolutely delicious. AND the sweet potato waffles fries? YES, PLEASE. The prices are reasonable for the portion sizes. The only thing that would make this restaurant better would be to have more staff so the wait time wasn't so long to get your food but I imagine it can be tough retaining staff in the small town of Cascade Locks.

Yelp
After a brief but amazing visit to Multnomah Falls, headed further east to Cascade Locks and the Thunder Island Brewing Company. Enjoyed the Grilled Chicken Bowl and a Toffee Trail English IPA. Good choices for sure and the views are amazing.

Yelp
Decided to check out this spot after a day of hiking. There was parking behind the restaurant which was convenient. We were told it was a 30 min wait for a table for 2, which was fine because we spent the time sitting outside on the tables. Once we got the text to know that our table was ready, we had to wait another 45 minutes for our burgers to come out. We had to flag down the waiter to ask about the delay, and we disappointed that we were not updated during our wait time, and felt very ignored. We understand that they were busy, but would have appreciated check ups for drink refills or if we needed anything during our wait. Once we got our food the burgers were delicious, and did not disappoint.

Yelp
Our first visit here! Food: Many choices that would satisfy vegetarians and meat lovers! The taste is like an Asian fusion with some entrees. Very well done that will make you want more. Try their salmon bowl or their pork sandwich. Or anything on the menu! Even the pickles were top notch. Portions are large. Parking: There's a lot, so no worries or you can park on the street. Service: Friendly and welcoming. We felt very comfortable. Ambiance: A bit louder than some restaurants because the space is large. Seating is upstairs. No worries if you want to skip the hike up the stairs because they have an elevator. Wish we lived in this area, because we would frequent this restaurant weekly!

Yelp
A great spot to have lunch after hiking any of the beautiful trails by Multnomah Falls. The servers are all friendly, the place is super welcoming to families with young children and a huge plus with all the beer and wine selection. Lots of customers including myself ordered the salmon bowl. Waffle cut sweet potato fries to share with the table. Come and visit this spot. Parking is easy with their lot in the back and plenty of street parking.
google avatar

Jeannie D.

Yelp
Big airy place with outdoor seating & incredible views. Parking was limited but there is street parking. We talked with the host and sat inside because of course there was a waitlist for outside. We had to go to the bar for ordering, no biggie. Decent amount of things to choose from, had some buffalo cauliflower and salad that was delicious pear & beets, the beets were very cut small and not overpowering. All good and will be back.
google avatar

Alia G.

Yelp
Fun, popular and tasty Got lucky and grabbed 2 seats at the bar at 12:30pm on Saturday. When we left about an hour later there was quite the wait. I had the Amber and mom had the Golden. We aren't big beer drinkers but we enjoyed both and it quenched our palate. Plus it went great with the buffalo cauliflower and fried chicken sandwich we shared. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Parking is on the street.
google avatar

Virginia L.

Yelp
We had two excellent brews I had the brown ale and my sis had the octoberfest beer special. Both were tasty less hoppy than the ipa selections They have a nice view and deck for outside eating Service was friendly but slower than some resturants They allow you to split a meal and get an extra plate for free. The house salad of mixed greens was tasty but mostly croutons and cheese Parking was at a premium and we had to park on the street and it was October. Can't imagine what it was like in the summer
google avatar

Yelp
Thunder Island has a perfect view for a burger on the gorge. Getting a drink at the bar is super quick and great service, the food took a little bit to come out since it was super busy and the food was really good.
google avatar

Emma S.

Yelp
Came here with my parents after the lake, and it was a great ambience! The outdoor patio was relatively quiet and had a nice fan/mist to keep cool. We also brought our small dog. The service was good as well! The chicken bowl was good, but not amazing. The fries, on the other hand, were fantastic! Would definitely return.

Yelp
Lunch was had here whilst on the road to Stevenson. I and my lady were well greeted and promptly seated. The Mexican lager is light and refreshing. The buffalo chicken wrap is ok. Perhaps a touch too much sour. The ginger tofu bowl is really good I am also a fan of the sweet potato waffle fries. They're not really prepared there other than deep fried, but they're good. It's a great place to stop in after a hike or on the way somewhere. I'll be back.

Yelp
Hopefully it's an outlier staff member but the service our group received at this brewery was the worst experience I've had dining out. I brought 4 friends from back home who were visiting Oregon for the first time and was so excited to take them here. Our experience is disappointing because the food we all had was outstanding, the patio views are great and it's dog friendly. It was Labor Day and not much was open in Cascade Locks so the long wait time is not a big deal. However, the server we had on the outdoor patio was extremely rude and disinterested in being there. After waiting 45 minutes for a table and another 40 minutes for our food to arrive, the food runner dropped off our food and a meal for one member of our group was missing. After sharing that with the runner, she disappeared and almost 10 minutes later we were still waiting for anyone to come back. We watched staff walk by us, including our waiter without checking in. We had to stop him as he walked by to ask about the status of the meal. We asked if maybe they forgot our friend's meal and his response was "oh, well I didn't forget it". He looked at the little scanner thing and said "well we don't have any more of your meal". It was busy and understandable if certain items ran out, but if that was the case no one offered her to order something different and he didn't even apologize for any confusion or that we apparently waited 40 minutes to learn she couldn't have that meal while the rest of us had ours. He walked away and another 5 minutes later returned with the meal she had ordered (after telling us it was out of stock) and without a word or any eye contact dropped the plate and walked away. No one ever checked in after that, no apology for the delay or situation. No one ever came by again so we didn't get a chance to try more of the delicious beer. We tried not to be rude to anyone and understanding of the busy day but inquiring about a missing meal you ordered shouldn't be treated as an annoyance. The patio view is amazing and the food was amazing, so thank you to the kitchen staff. Not sure if I would risk going back with the next group of visitors.

Arviso A.

Yelp
This place is great! Stopped through on our road trip and grabbed a flight and some chips and salsa with guac. The salsa was amazing! The place was full but we got service almost immediately and they stayed present. The place is beautiful too. A bit noisy but there were kids playing in the children's area (which we think is a plus). I think otherwise it would have been pretty quiet.
google avatar

Ted W.

Yelp
Came here early afternoon on a Sunday after visiting Multonomah Falls and there was a 15 minute wait to get seated. The Blackened Chicken Sandwich was seasoned well and pretty flavorful. However, it took almost an hour for the food to come out which was a bit disappointing. I would come again if the wait wasn't so long.
google avatar

Alex W.

Yelp
Love this place for the views of the Bridge of the Gods and the Columbia River Gorge. Probably the best views in Cascade Locks as far as bars/restaurants go. They do have a couple wines for non beer drinkers. Ginger tofu bowl was tasty as well
google avatar

Cindy L.

Yelp
After long day after going to the Multnomah Falls, we were pretty hungry and see what's around the area. Decided to try out this place. Upon our arrival, restaurant is upstairs and they brew their own beer on the first floor. I decided to go with the garlic herb mushroom burger and made so adjustments which our server gladly accommodated. Hands down one of the best and juicy burger I've had and those sweet potato fries are just as good too! Although one thing I didn't like and could opt it out next time is the thyme, rosemary, oregano flavor. It's a tiny bit overpowering but other than that still a good decent burger. The pork schnitzel was good and was afraid it was dry given how thin it was but nope. Both were very good and flavorful!! So glad we decided to try this joint! If it wasn't windy we would've def did the outdoor dining and enjoy the beautiful view while we had our late lunch. Def a must try place!!! Delish!

Yelp
A couple of us and our dogs came on a Saturday afternoon after hiking nearby. Parking was a little difficult to find, and we still had to wait 20 minutes for a table on the patio. Another option had been to order and bring things out to the picnic area! I got the (seasonal) hibiscus lime cider and loved it. The chips and salsa + guac was huuuge and filled us up before we got our meals. I ordered the kimchi Reuben. The sweet potato waffle fries are amazing, but the sandwich felt a little dry. The kimchi not as spicy as I'd expected! My partner got the garlic aioli dip with his fries and it is a must. We really liked the friendly atmosphere and the views all around!
google avatar

Megan O.

Yelp
I've been wanting to checkout Thunder Island Brewing for sometime now, but every time I drive by they were packed. Good for them but not so good for me when you are out on a day trip with limited time. We decided to try again and stopped by in late afternoon and were able to get right in. We order our drinks - beer and cider and both were great! They have a ton of options on the drink menu so everyone should be able to find something to drink. For dinner we ordered the cauliflower bites and Kimchi Reuben with sweet potato waffle fries. All three items were fantastic and I loved the Reuben sandwich. It was full of flavor and yummy kimchi. The service was great and the views of the trees and scenic area were amazing on a beautiful fall day day. I can't wait to go back and try more beers and other food options.

Laura C.

Yelp
Salmon was overcooked , dry and tough. I told waiter and he did nothing about it. The fries were good so was everything else. Kinda pricey for what you get.
google avatar

Mikayla C.

Yelp
We had an excellent lunch here, the food was insane and for what it was I felt the prices were reasonable. The salmon bowl in particular was so fresh and delicious. The beer was also reasonably priced and really solid. The restaurant itself is beautiful and the service was great. 10/10
google avatar

Alexi S.

Yelp
Nice place. Unfortunately the food was very poor quality. The $20 bacon (bits) hamburger was thin, with utterly stale bread. The wife's $18 chicken rice bowl wasn't even edible. Fries were nice.. Burger King style fries. Go somewhere else.
google avatar

Elena D.

Yelp
We tried TIB on a Saturday right before noon and sat inside as there was a 20 minute+ wait for the outdoor area. It looked very nice out there but the inside was just fine with us, post-hiking. Though the AC almost seemed too high. We receive prompt and friendly service, not over the top or underwhelming. I ordered the blackened chicken sandwich and my husband had their house burger but asked to get the double patty smashed burger version. My chicken sandwich was great! It was just right in all the ways it needed to be and the fries were quite good as well. There wasn't an excessive amount of fries either, which was refreshing. My husband's burger was huge and they definitely weren't smashed. That was about the most disappointing part of the experience. Otherwise it was great! Glad we got there when we did because when we were leaving, there was a line going down the stairs!
google avatar

Lela T.

Yelp
Popped in for lunch with my partner, my kiddo, and our dog. We were quickly seated on an upstairs patio. It was windy and chilly and we were in the shade. I asked our server if we could move to a sunnier table and they quickly cleaned a recently vacated table. Food was tasty - kiddo had the standard strips and fries, which she proclaimed were the "best fries in the world!" Buffalo cauliflower was super tasty, GF bun was crumbly (as they always are). Would come back if we're out in the area again.
google avatar

Alex K.

Yelp
Stopped in after a 22 mile bike ride to grab a beer and some fries. Basically just wanted snacks. Did see someone order the kimchi rueben which looked good. If I was hungrier, I would have ordered that. Was immediately seated out in the 2nd story deck with a nice view of the Bridge of the Gods. Fast, friendly, good service. Beer was good, but I'll be honest I've had better. Dog friendly and you can bring you dog onto the deck to be next to you. Would definitely recommend and go back.
google avatar

Angela P.

Yelp
This was the cherry on top of an already amazing day of an amazing day of doing the rail bikes in Hood River. We stopped by here to have some snacks. We were hoping there might be a happy hour, but no such luck. However, the prices are reasonable so it's all good. We had buffalo cauliflower, chili caesar salad, and a beer tasting. All was good, and the staff was friendly and efficient. It was a little hot the day we went so we opted for an inside table, but on a cooler day, the patio would be a great option, as it offers beautiful views of the Columbia.

Yelp
Fantastic... I swore I could not eat all of this but I've been in tougher situations haha

Yelp
We stopped here on the 10th hour of our road trip for food, drinks & a view for sunset... it was everything would could have asked for and more! Our server, Christian, was awesome. He took great care of us and had us laughing multiple times. Can't wait to stop by on our way back down.

Diane V.

Yelp
7 of Enjoyed lunch today and beer. Nice selection of beer. We had blackened chicken, burgers and grilled chicken bowl with soy ginger sauce. All was fresh and would recommend. Service was great too
google avatar

Keizzel C.

Yelp
The new Thunder Island Brewing space is beautiful! Plenty of space downstairs in the parking lot where you can enjoy the scene there but it's all about the upstairs area for the view you get. Fortunately we came at opening so we had the pick of spots and had the perfect spot overlooking the water under a shaded area. As for food be sure to get their fries (standard or their loaded fries). They seem to have a coating so they are incredibly crispy while being so fluffy on the inside. Great to hold the sauce without getting soggy too quickly. I would also recommend the blackened chicken sando on the menu. The chicken portion was huge and the toppings of the bacon, avocado, greens, etc comes out to be a balanced meal - especially after a hike. There was nice spice with the chicken as well and the bread was able to hold everything together with each bite. I ate the whole thing on my own but you can probably save half for later if you wanted. I just went with a kolsh to wash it down but try their sampler if you want to try a bit of everything.

Yelp
When you're in the Columbia River Gorge near Cascade Locks - thirsty and hungry from a day of playing. This is one of my favorite places. This is the new building and location. It's a very contemporary two-story brewery with a bar and kitchen delivering some really good grub. Wrap around outdoor patio with views of the columbia River. Great for a meet-up of fodies and hop heads. Beer is cold cold cold on a hot hot hot day 90º plus yesterday. IPA is great. We had the vegan chili with lots of delish beans and a scrumptious wild salmon with micron greens over jasmine rice and cabbage. Plenty of menu options for meat eaters and vegans.

Yelp
Stopped by for a beer and some light bites. I went to the bar to look at the menu and the bartender was not friendly and didn't even ask if I needed any help. After i decided which beer i wanted she passed me on to another server. They were not that busy and just seeing how she was talking to other customers I can tell she did not want to help anyone. Food was good we got chili cheese fries and beer was decent, but that bartenders set a bad tone to a new restaurant I wanted to try.

Yelp
Stopped by after a hike to grab some grub on our way back to Portland. It was such a nice day out and we noticed outdoor patio seating on the upper floor and it reeled us in. Great friendly energy and they seem to be dog friendly which is always nice We started off with a flight. My boyfriend had never been to the Pacific Northwest before so he was excited to try out the breweries. The server did a great job of giving her recommendations and was overall a real sweetheart. We ordered a Caesar Salad to share. I had the Blackened Chicken Sando & he had the Kimchi Reuben. Both were delicious and we took the rest home because of how filling they were. Would definitely recommend to try the sweet potato fries with garlic aioli dipping sauce. The only thing missing was I wish they had more appetizer choices. Pretzel with cheese would've definitely hit the spot ;)

Yelp
Thunder Island is the whole package for those who have been enjoying the small brewery scene for a long time. Good variety of well made food on the menu. Location itself is that perfect combo of right off the beaten path but not so niche that you feel like an outsider. The beer is good and consistent. They have all the IPAs any hop head could want but then also offer a fine selection of pils, lagers, saisons etc. staff are friendly and informative but neither too aloof or too coddling. You can stop in on a Sunday seat yourself at the back of the bar and share a flight and a small meal and nothing feels like your taking up space or waiting too long. Less one star because well there is hardly any parking and that wind surfing scene that they have to cater to is obnoxious.

Yelp
What a great place! Good food & beverages! Awesome views of the Columbia River! Pleasant and friendly waitstaff! What could be better than all that?! For my 70th birthday, a couple of friends took me on a road trip to Eastern Oregon (thank goodness for friends, right?) and our first night's dinner was right here at Thunder Island. We were pretty hungry after our drive and Thunder Island did not disappoint. Between the three of us, we ordered a salad, a bowl and a burger, along with a glass of beer, a flight of beers and a glass of cider. The salad was the Poached Pear & Beet Salad, the bowl was the Ginger Tofu Bowl and the burger was the Bacon Jam Burger - all super tasty and filling! We sat in the outside patio area because we had a couple of dogs with us but even without the dogs, if you can sit outside, do. Our window for good weather in the PNW is fairly short so we should never miss a chance to sit outside whenever we can. The view of the river is probably more spectacular from inside upstairs, but man, sitting outdoors when we can is the best thing ever, right?

Yelp
This is the perfect "post hike" lunch spot! We were super hungry after our 4.5 mile hike and grabbed three seats at the bar. We were pleasantly surprised with the food, service, and ambiance. It was exactly what we needed! Atmosphere: there is a lot of indoor and outdoor seating options, including tables and bar seating. We went on a summer afternoon on a Sunday around 1pm. There was a 45 min wait for outdoor seating and a 20 min wait for a table indoors. We decided to opt for three spots at the bar so we didn't have to wait! I assume we went at a very busy/popular time. The outdoor seating looked beautiful so I look forward to coming back. Food: We ordered the pulled pork sandwich with sweet potato fries, pear and beet salad with salmon, and the salmon bowl with no rice add extra veggies. All dishes were great! The pulled pork had great flavor, the fries were crispy, and the salmon bowl hit the spot!! I loved the soy and sesame flavor of the bowl. The pear and beet salad was fresh and paired really well with the salmon. Drinks: We ordered a delicious kombucha, an 8 beer flight, a Pilsner, and a ginger beer. The drinks were super refreshing and we were satisfied with the selection. Overall we were super happy with our experience here! The food and vibe is great, especially for a brewery. For three dishes, 2 non alcoholic drinks, 1 beer, and a flight of 8 different beers, we spent around $75. We thought this was super reasonable as we all left super satisfied and full!
