Took my 06 f150 in for an engine rebuild. Original estimate was for $4800.00. A month later I was told that it needed more parts that originally estimated and it would be another $3000. After reading the past reviews, I was apprehensive. But, agreed to the price. The day I picked up my truck, the check engine light was on, so I questioned it. I was told that it may just be sensors that needed to “break in”. Within 10 miles the light came back on and the engine started skipping. By this time I was 45 miles away. I stopped at an Autozone and had the code read. It was a misfire on cylinder 7. I called Jim who said that it might be a coil pack. I figured what the heck and replaced the coil pack. That didn’t fix it. Needless to say,, I was getting upset. Jim offered to check it out on the weekend. Willing to meet me by where I lived. However, we were both sick that weekend and just decided to take it back to their shop on a weekday. They spent 5 hours figuring out what was wrong. They told me that the fuel injector on cylinder 7 had an issue (NOT something that they were supposed to repair during the rebuild). I was a little reluctant to believe them so I took it to my longtime mechanic (who no longer did engine rebuilds). I have trusted this guy for decades with my vehicles. I got a call from him the next day saying that Thunderbolt was correct in their diagnosis and that it was repaired. He also added that he checked out the work completed by Thunderbolt. He was amazed at the level of professionalism and the exceptional work they had done. Unbelievable was the word he used to describe the quality. Right down to using dialectric paste on ALL my electrical connections. He was really impressed. Him saying that, really carried weight with me. I trust him. He had nothing to gain and was unbiased. So, thank you to Chris and Jim and the mechanics and technicians at Thunderbolt for the INCREDIBLE job and EXCELLENT customer service you provided!! You get what you pay for! You guys did an AWESOME job!!!!!
