8 of Tacoma’s Best Pho Spots | Eater Seattle

"This small neighborhood cafe in Larchmont prepares fresh, locally sourced ingredients daily in the traditional Vietnamese style. Chicken, vegetarian, and seafood options are available, but the oxtail pho takes center stage."

Google
I'm no stranger to South Asian food. I've never ordered from here before. The taste was 💯👍. The serving very good. The only negative is that the dish was short on the proteins. I'd order again perhaps not dishes with proteins, unless they bumped it up.

Google
I come here a few times before. i had try their pho, baguette, and pad thai, which were all amazing especially the broth, the best in town. And today I decided to get some yakisoba togo, which was not disappointed at all. A clean and nice place to eat and relax, and their service is very friendly too. I highly recommend this place.

Google
Music is the perfect choice every time. Food is always amazing. Best broth in all of Olympia. Staff is so sweet. Always very clean when I go in. Crab wontons are so delicious.

Google
Seems like quality of food declines when they're busy. Pineapple fried rice is very bland and tasteless, seems like white rice with some random add ins. Pad thai is extremely sweet. Each time we've paid extra for spicy, and it's never been spicy. Really want to like this place, but they are inconsistent with the quality and taste of their dishes.

Google
We are here from SLC, Utah visiting friends in Olympia and had to find a local pho spot. This place is very good, the bowl size is generous, the prices very fair, and the oh ingredients were very fresh. The pho meat was all very good, not today fatty or chewy. I am a bit of a pho'natic and plan to come back here again before leaving town. Rivals the best pho in Salt Lake City.

Google
Absolutely incredible. I don't know what "Grandpa's recipe" means other than it is, by far the best Pho? I have ever had. Taste the broth without adding anything. It is amazing.

Google
We have been here for dine-in four times now. Each time has been great! The food is excellent. They have delicious pho... their rice plates are fantastic... last time, I got the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork and prawns and it was excellent. Everything we've tried has been great. The service is very good, too. We've had the same server every time and he's always been so friendly and polite. Finally, they've done a great job decorating and the atmosphere is wonderful. It's our new favorite spot for Vietnamese food. Would definitely recommend going here!

Google
Second time eating here and both times the pho was delicious. Got the roasted chicken with chicken broth this time around. Amazing!!! Will definitely keep coming back for more!

Yelp
Service was great, but the food smelled a bit strange at first. And yes, I eat Vietnamese food regularly. I was starving and ate it anyway, BIG mistake! I suspect the noodles were precooked then improperly refrigerated. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this restaurant.
google avatar

Lindsey B.

Yelp
Got my order delivered. Noodles weren't mushy like I've received in the past when ordering to-go. The broth is DELICIOUS and you don't have to add anything to it. I enjoy spice so I do add their chili oil which is also delicious. Crisp, fresh veggies and everything I look for when craving a bowl of pho. Their Thai tea is also spot on. Highly recommend!

Thomas K.

Yelp
Been driving past this hidden gem for several years. So glad we stopped in when our regular pho place was closed. The combination pho we both ordered was very good. As always with pho, the secret is in the broth and this broth was among the best I've had. Ingredients were fresh, atmosphere as expected for a pho restaurant, and service was top drawer! We fully intend to return to try the other menu items. Prices were in line with market. Watch out, old regular pho place, there may be a new "pho place" in our future! '

Yelp
105 red points. Employee seen blowing his nose and not washing his hands. Lots of health violations

Shaye B.

Yelp
For the price of the roll yall are STINGY with the shrimp 0/10 won't be back I'm good
google avatar

Yelp
Surprisingly modern and clean inside. Broth is excellent. The spicy broth is also very delicious as well as the veggie spring rolls will be back.
google avatar

Nat C.

Yelp
Fantastic!! Authentic and fresh, healthy pho. We had the spicy beef pho, fresh spring rolls, and tofu noodles. Pho was savory, spicy, but also delicate and perfectly fragrant. The tofu had a nice, also delicate fish sauce you can add, pickled vegetables, cilantro & the tofu was fried but very nicely done. We were really impressed and will return! Best pho we've had in Oly!!

Leonard B.

Yelp
Really good food!!!!! Service is stellar wife loved spring rolls noodles cooked perfectly, chicken done perfectly

Bailey F.

Yelp
Best tofu and vegetable pho i've had! The server was very kind :) The restaurant is cozy and comfortable as well. I'm definitely coming back soon.

Ngc Dim T.

Yelp
Teriyaki chicken and shrimp and pork vermicelli are very delicious and I really like these two dishes, the price is very reasonable and I will come back to eat these two dishes again.

Yelp
What an amazing and genuine Vietnamese place, the Pho is a must! Their combo fried rice is so good, they always welcome you with a smile and the service is prompt, nice and warm ambiance, I live in Ocean Shores but every time I have to drive to Olympia me and my family stop by
google avatar

Melissa C.

Yelp
You're always greeted promptly by a friendly staffer. The lovely decor and comfy furniture are a plus. It always smells good even from the sidewalk! I am on a pretty strict nutritional plan, but the delish spring rolls fall right into place for me. They are whole leaf lettuce, fresh herbs, rice vermicelli noodles and the pork/shrimp (and tofu) are ample. The peanut sauce is exceptional (per my partner, as I am unable to indulge). We've tried many dishes and apps on our visits to Thuy's and have never been disappointed. It's a busy parking situation on occasion, but well worth it any day of the week.

Yelp
Stopped in for a second time and had the Caramel Pork Bahn Mi, and it was scrumptious! I have upgraded from 4 stars to 5! Their pho ga broth is outstanding and the service is nice. They hustle here. Don't hesitate to try them out.
google avatar

Gina D.

Yelp
We get takeout from Thuy's and it's delicious!!! I usually go for the vermicelli salad with caramelized pork and egg roll and my husband really likes the pho and noodle dishes. The salad is packaged perfectly to assemble at home in my own bowl. Oh, and the fresh spring rolls with tofu and peanut sauce are a MUST, no matter what you get. Always fresh and delicious!!!
google avatar

Mimi K.

Yelp
We had the brisket pho and lemongrass pork chop plate. The food was neat and delicious. Service was good, pho broth was great! Only thing for us was the portions. The portions were kinda small.

Ingrid Z.

Yelp
I love this place! They have many vegan friendly items and everyone is extremely kind. Best pho in Oly.
google avatar

Katie S.

Yelp
Thuy's remains one of my very favorite spots in Olympia. Everything is super fresh, the portions are hearty, and the staff are very friendly. I daydream about their vermicelli noodle bowls constantly.
google avatar

Chuck M.

Yelp
Vietnamese caramel? Yeah, it's a thing! Apparently it's a very popular staple of Vietnamese cooking. The caramel sauce is called nuoc mau which is pronounced "nook mao." The magic of nuoc mau is how it is used to marinade savory ingredients like the pork in Thuy's Pork Banh Mi. If you've never had a Bahn Mi, or maybe it's been awhile, let me elucidate here. The combined sweet & savory of the pork, the tangy crunchy pickled veggies & the soft baguette with a slightly crispy crust all work together to create the perfect two-handed sandwich experience. Now, what are you waiting for? Go get one!

Lori W.

Yelp
I ordered the Pad Thai today instead my normal Pho. Sad to say it was horrible. Chicken was burnt and they added some seasoning on the top that I've never seen before. Maybe the cook was having a bad day but I won't order it again.
google avatar

Tony T.

Yelp
Pho broth was really good. They also had a good amount of meat in it, compared to other spots. My 5 year old son really liked it too so that was a win.

Lori U.

Yelp
Food was good, service not so much, immature young people staring at me as I ate instead of working, I was searching for my credit card, looked up at the faces of 3 workers staring at me, probably worried to death I was going to eat and ditch paying them. GROW UP!! stop stereotyping, loved this place but won't be back!!!
google avatar

Mike M.

Yelp
I'm going 5/5 here, and just keeping my expectations real. Do you expect Taj Mahal like settings when you go out for lunch? Perfect, we're on the same page. Absolutely delicious beef combo Pho. You dont need to add anything unless you want more heat. The broth is PERFECTLY savory! Meat is delicious, fresh rolls and peanut sauce on point. Service on point, service was friendly, place was clean. I'm a huge *new fan.
google avatar

Yelp
We finally found a pho restaurant that serves the Chinese doughnuts!! This restaurant is so authentic and the broth is unbelievably good. We come here almost every week and they consistently make amazing pho. We also love the pork sausage fresh roll. Highly recommend trying this pho restaurant, it does not disappoint. The service is very friendly and the inside is very clean and modern.

Yelp
Love this place! So far I've only tried the steak/brisket pho, fresh rolls & Iced Vietnamese coffee & love them all. I'd like to hey more but pho gets me every time! Only downside is I've been to this restaurant several times because I've wanted to try it & it was closed. I'll definitely be back for more!

Minh Thuy N.

Yelp
Omg. Love their Pho. We usually orders their pho and noodle bowl and it always taste delicious. I think they have the best broth. This time we also ordered their fried chicken to share and yet, we're not disappoint. Freaking yummy. I notice some reviews said they are short in protein but honestly if people compare to other places, their price is still reasonable. It's funny that no one complain about ramen restaurants that only give you 1 or 2 piece of meats and their price is at least $3 more.
google avatar

Eugene A.

Yelp
The atmosphere is great the phò is amazing. Plenty of seating. Could be the best I have had in the Olympia area.
google avatar

Elizabeth D.

Yelp
It's very clean and they have sanitizer on each table. Friendly and attentive service. The broth is really well done and the noodles were cooked perfectly. This would be a solid 4 star review if it weren't for.... The proportions and quality of meat are not ok. One of our pho was supposed to have three types of meat and I'm pretty sure they forgot one- and we were digging through the soup to find the rest. I don't even like a lot of meat in my pho,so....If they changed that - this would be a regular for us. The broth really was good!
google avatar

Hannah K.

Yelp
Pho was not tasty. Had to add alot of salt and soy sauce to add "flavor to it". Paid $5 for some fries that were overly salty like someone just threw a ton of salt on it by mistake. It was not a large portion of fries for $5. It was only half the box in the photo. Service was quick but wouldn't come here again because of the food quality. **Try hot ginger pho in lacey it's much better haha. **

Yelp
Meh...it's just ok. My daughter was hungry so we ran in to get take out: Lemongrass Tofu Vermicelli Bowl, tofu fresh rolls, fried green beans and black bubble tea. The good: Lemongrass tofu was tasty. The fried green beans are DELICIOUS. The food service was fast. The bad: The fresh spring rolls veggies were not as good, i can't quite explain what it is, maybe it was the iceberg lettuce. I don't know, but I wasn't feeling their fresh rolls. The serving of veggies for the vermicelli bowl wasn't as abundant as other local places we like to go to. And lastly, we ordered bubble tea and when we got it, it was blended with no boba. When I asked about why there was no boba in their bubble tea, the clerk just looked at me and said "oh, you wanted boba?" I told him yes, but he said it was too late, so yeah, it was a slushy tea I spent $5+ dollars on (not thrilled). Plus, the bubble tea was probably made from a mix too. I told the kids to remind me not to go back there again...I'd rather drive to our usual place in Lacey.

Yelp
Very yummy fried rice and pho! Though their portions have gotten smaller from when I started eating at this restaurant just a few years ago.

Won A.

Yelp
Used to love this place and order delivery several times per week. Suddenly the restaurant no longer appears open on GrubHub. I emailed them twice to ask why - no response. Took a look at the food inspection scores and it became obvious: "Cooks do not have basic knowledge of minimum cold holding temperature." and "Reinspection is warranted to ensure compliance." and "Cutting boards were not sanitized with chlorine sanitizer solution after cutting raw chicken" - EW! Never going back again.
google avatar

Alex L.

Yelp
Really wanted to like this place. Golden standard in WA for me is Pho Bac in Seattle. Pricey for portions served.. broth was a bit salty and bland. The service was pretty good otherwise. Pho Saigon or fresh pho great are worth the drive to Lacey
google avatar

Nora M.

Yelp
LUNCH IN OLYMPIA. WASHINGTON ... and we score!!! After a previous disappointing strip mall dinner where all the details were badly implemented, I was a bit uncertain about trying another such restaurant. I'm glad we didn't pass this one up. As an example of their attention to detail ... the spring roll sauce had slivered almonds ... and, the spring roll sauce had TOASTED, slivered almonds ... and, the toasted almonds were sprinkled on the sauce with some attention to design. Everything was that way, down to the Thai basil to add to the pho!

Peggy C.

Yelp
The best pho in Olympia. The roasted chicken pho is amazing. Nice staff excellent service. We come here at least every other week.
google avatar

Justin F.

Yelp
I had the pork belly bahn mi, shrimp and char siu fresh roll, and a beefy beef filled large bowl of pho. The fresh rolls are larger and has more content than most pho places I've been to. The sauce is fragrant, but I no fam of peanut sauce so I can't help you there. The pho itself was pretty good but the star was the bahn mi. Not the largest for the dollar amount you can can get in the area but I really love that they freshly sliced garlic and fried it up, snuck the fried pieces in the sandwich. Pretty tasty. If they open up in the am for breakfast, that would be a game changer in the damp chilly Willy place.

Yelp
I'm very glad they're in their soft opening. Portion sizes are small, it's pay first and you pick up your own food (tip is still expected), and service is very very very slow. Only serving pho, banh mi, fresh rolls and spring rolls for now. The fresh rolls are premade. They're very cold and both edges were dried out. I was first told it was 3 fresh rolls for $5.99, but only got 2. Peanut sauce is hot though. The spring rolls were placed on top of sauce which made them soggy. What if I didn't want to dip it in sauce? Not sure why we were served on paper plates either. I counted 5 employees and food came out soooOo slow. We were the only ones waiting for food. Pho portions are much smaller than what I'm used too. I think they're trying for a more fancier pho joint with higher prices, decor, etc but using paper plates defeats the purpose. The bean sprouts, basil, lime, and jalepenos also came out in a paper plate (wasn't enough for both pho's). Flavor wise it's the basic pho place. Everything we got tasted like what it was supposed to. I can't say something was extraordinary for me to stop here versus another pho place. I'll be back for their grand opening and hope to change my review!

Jean S.

Yelp
Prompt, friendly service and excellent Pho! I only did takeout but the restaurant looked clean. Prices were reasonable.

Yelp
Came in the second day of their soft opening. They had their full menus out with no notes on what was restricted for their soft opening so we just assumed we could order anything off of their menu. Unfortunately that was not the case. The customer before me attempted to order various things off of their menu, but none of them were available because of their soft opening. When I attempted to order some items, they were also not available, so I had to go back to my husband who was sitting down and re-figure out what he would like to order. It would have been nice if they had a list of items available for their soft opening only so customers would not have to re-think their orders. We ended up ordering the "Hi! Saigon Fresh Rolls", "Barbecue Chicken Fresh Rolls", "Two Little Pigs Banh Mi", and a "Barbecue Chicken Salad". The Hi Saigon fresh rolls were really good. I wish they gave a little more peanut sauce than what was given. Also my sauce container still had the barcode sticker on it sticking out (I know they just opened). The Two Little Pigs Banh Mi (Basically a combination ham banh mi), was good. I found it very odd that they put tomato in it... I've never had a banh mi with tomato in it... there was however plenty of meat, pate (liver spread) and an egg. My husband liked the Barbecue Chicken Salad and said it was good (we opted out of the noodles since he was on a diet). We have not tried the barbecue chicken fresh rolls yet as we were extremely full from the amount of food we had. I will go back to try their pho, maybe during their grand opening.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Great food, and fast service and they're always so kind love coming to them for my pho fix.
google avatar

Shachee G.

Yelp
I had ordered Chicken Pho.. broth was delicious and just like the authentic pho you get in Seattle. It's in the old Dickey's bbq place. The servers are friendly and attentive. Definitely go back
google avatar

Ava O.

Yelp
Pho was good but the portions for their protein is too small. I got the regular combo pho and I only had two slices of meatball, 3 pieces of brisket and 2 tendon. For the price of 14$ that wasn't really worth it. My husband got the roasted chicken pho and he said the same thing. We also got an order of bahn mi and it took so long for it to be made. We were already done eating and it still wasn't served.
google avatar

Henry N.

Yelp
Has been my go to Pho place and the broth never fail to amaze me. Much better than the other places I've had. Highly recommend trying the spicy pho. Not too overwhelm with the spiciness and has a very unique flavor in a good way. Will definitely continue to come here and try their other dishes as well. Just haven't had a chance as I just couldn't resist their pho whenever I come here.
google avatar

Dana B.

Yelp
So good! Fried egg rolls were so delicious. We also had roasted chicken pho and chicken fried rice. Staff was super nice.

Maddie T.

Yelp
10/10 vegan broth most restaurants just make a bland watery salty basic veg broth but here they sauté onion, lemongrass, shallots, ginger and other herbs for a bomb gourmet broth even for the vegans it's a vibey little spot for sure some of my favorite pho

Jassmin H.

Yelp
Ordered take out last night and I am disappointed in the quality food we received. For how much I spent this food was definitely not worth it! Our crispy egg rolls tasted different this time as I took a bite I noticed the inside was super mushy. The texture of it just didn't feel right taking a second bite so those were a waste. I took a look at my shrimp from my fried rice I noticed the shrimp wasn't properly cleaned. It had random veggies it normally didn't have before ( corn and green beans). Maybe there's a new cook , but I definitely will not be coming back!
google avatar

Yvonne K.

Yelp
Oh my gosh this place is delicious. I've been here about three times and I always order the simplest things on the menu because I believe if you can perfect those, the harder stuff will be good. Well, even the harder stuff like the ox-tail soup is perfected! Try the pho with an order of the Chinese donut! You will not be disappointed!!
google avatar

Christopher R.

Yelp
BEST Pho I've Ever Had. Roasted Chicken Pho & Donut Sticks, I'm drooling thinking about it. Not to mention their chicken and bacon fried rice! Hands down my 2 go to's when ordering here. Watermelon bubble tea is pretty good too. Enjoy!!

Sarah V.

Yelp
The best fried rice in town! Friendly staff always remembers us. Highly recommend! Lemongrass Tofu

Yelp
I was so excited to try this location. Ordered a pick up order and was really disappointed when I got home. The ox tail pho / short rib pho which is their special. Was less than impressive and not Worth the price. Also ordered a standard beef pho and got 3 slices of meat that you could compare to processed lunch meat. It's unfortunate I love a good pho location. I do not see this business lasting too long. But the fresh spring rolls were decent.
