"My first meal was at Ti Choa, in the small village of Serreta, where the império boasts a mint-green, arched entranceway and geometric reliefs in primary colors ascending the exterior walls. Ti Choa, formerly a farmhouse, is less elaborate than the chapel, built from humble stone with exposed supporting beams on the inside." - Travel + Leisure Editors

If I could give this 10 stars I would. We walked in off the street without a reservation and barely got a table. The place was packed on a Wednesday afternoon and for good reason. The food is amazing, the people are beyond kind and helpful and the atmosphere was just what you would want. They helped us decide on food and it did not disappoint. Everything we tried was delicious.

This is a traditional style Portuguese restaurant. If you want a true Azorian experience it is worth looking into. It gets very busy so I recommend reservations. Ample portions with good service in a home setting.

We planned a two-week Azores trip to include three days in Terceira. During my research and planning, I read this is one of the best restaurants to sample Alcatra. Moreover, I read that you can often walk in for lunch during the week, but dinner requires a reservation, and lunch on the weekend requires a reservation. In the weeks leading up to our vacation, we tried a couple times to make reservations for dinner using the email address found on their Facebook page, as they otherwise do not have a website. I did not receive a response; however, the afternoon that we checked into our hotel, reception was kind enough to phone the restaurant to get us a same-day reservation. Through that initiative we learned that Ti Choa is currently only offering reduced hours and closes at 4:00 p.m. As it was approaching 3:00 p.m. and nearly a half hour away, we hustled, and am I everglad we did! The restaurant is a charming Azorean house converted restaurant. The family was incredibly kind, and the food was amazing. Rather than providing a menu, the gentleman assisting us asked whether we came seeking a certain recommendation to which I said we wanted Alcatra. He offered it or an alternative: a meat sampler platter for two, €15 per person. We opted for the sampler which included several pork selections followed by alcatra. We also accepted the bread and cheese appetizer, two glasses of wine, a bottle of water, and we shared dessert recommended by who I assume was the son of the owner. Our meal totaled €43. I have no idea what wine we drank. I asked for their recommendation and after confirming I wanted red while my husband wanted white, we were each served a glass of incredible libation. One thing is for certain: the Portuguese are not stingy with their wine. There was limited outside seating but I assume it was full, as we were offered indoor seating after the girl seating us looked out the window then the doorway. Honestly, while it was a near perfect day outside, I enjoyed the charming and cozy atmosphere of the inside. We already have reservations at another restaurant for tomorrow night but we may return here for dinner on our last night depending on how our day works out. We started our vacation on São Miguel, but the welcome and hospitality we have received on Terceira has been far superior, and the folks at Ti Choa have been a huge part of that. Obrigado for dinner. Saúde!

Google
This was by far the best traditional food we had on the island,, it’s a must visit, you won’t regret it! The service was absolutely fantastic, good recommendation for the food and wine.. desert was out of this world too! Overall this was one of the best dining experiences we had in a long time

Google
Torresmos where the best we have had on the island, the linguica and morcela were also amazing. Hands down one of the best dining experiences you could ask for in a family style setting.

Google
Restaurant located in Serreta at Terceira island in Azores. It’s one of the top rated restaurants in the island and that must mean something. Staff is extremely friendly and professional. The food is great, if it’s your first time go for the tasting menu where you can have a chance to taste their main dishes. Prices are reasonable. Parking is easy in the surroundings. If you’re planing to visit on Friday or Saturday nights it’s advisable to book a table in advance. The dessert are all delicious and I would recommend the “Doce de Vinagre”. If you have to choose just one restaurant to visit during your stay in the island this is the one. Looking forward to return soon.

Yelp
We were driving through and took a chance without a reservation for lunch and they were able to accommodate us. Our server was great and he recommended the sampler platter so we could try a bunch of things. We also had some cheese and bread and a bottle of local wine. The sampler platter was nice and the one thing we did not care for was the blood sausage. We finished with the alcatra and it was really good. Definitely try this place and make a reservation, too.

Yelp
INCREDIBLE experience here. Location is a small, quaint cottage with a really comfortable atmosphere. Everything is made in-house and is *delicious*. Fair warning, it serves meat eaters only, but they make that clear as soon as you step in. The server we had spoke english and was so so funny and charming! It was 15 euros per person for maybe 7 dishes, and they gave a full sampling platter of traditional food. Cannot recommend highly enough!

Yelp
This is a restaurant that serves only traditional meat dishes so if you are not a meat eater go somewhere else. The sampler plate started with stewed pork, roast pork ribs, pork sausages, pork blood sausages, sweet potato slices, and 2 slices of toast. The beef stew with 2 slices of sweet bread came after, but we were already quite full by then so we could only eat 2 pieces of the stew which was a pity. Overall it was a good experience to try a traditional meal.

Yelp
Amazing place. It's a small cozy house. Excellent quality food. We ordered a sampler plate with a variety of food. The black pudding sausage was fatastic, packed with flavor, cooked right, had a crisp to it. Excellent service. The staff was very friendly. Had a good sense of humor and spoke English.

Yelp
This is like having a slow leisurely dinner at your best friend's mother's house. The warmth and welcoming cannot be overstated, so settle yourself in for a couple hours of relaxation. The usually pre dinner fare of bread, cheeses, etc are available upon request. The menu is brought to you hand written on a chalkboard (because I'm guessing it changes all the time), and the servers will stand and explain each menu item to you in detail. This will take some time, but it's part of the whole personal experience. Once you make your selections, you should order yourself a bottle of wine to pass the time until your food appears. It will be worth the wait, trust me. Pro tip: Make. A. Reservation. They are open for one seating at night. Tables do not turn over. Get in by 7-7:30, out by 9-9:30, then the restaurant closes, that's it. Especially if you're driving from another part of the island to eat here... You don't want to be turned away. It was a Monday night and every table was full, so it's clearly a popular place. We called earlier in the day and were able to get a spot so it's not too crazy. This place is a must on your trip to Terceira!

Yelp
I had read reviews about this place and my husband read a book about Terceira written by a frequent visitor to the island. We found ourselves in the little village of Serreta about noon yesterday and stopped. Luckily we were able to get the one unreserved table (I strongly suggest making reservations even for lunch). Our server suggested the sampler plate to get a taste of the main dishes of the island. The plate included two types of sausages, a pork and liver dish served with sweet potatoes, and two beef dishes - the final one being the popular alcatra beef stew served with sweet bread. The atmosphere was great, and the service and food excellent. Go if you get the chance!

Yelp
Pry one of the greatest family dining experiences I've ever had. There was 11 of us and we were treated so well. The food, matched the service. Start to finish, what an incredible opportunity. Great wines to match!!!

Yelp
Stopped here for a late lunch after a long hike. Food was amazing. We had the sampler meat platter and the traditional beef stew. The waiter was very helpful and the lemon custard filled popover for dessert was to die for! Wished I could have taken one home!

Mayo L.

Yelp
A wonderful, quaint location for an authentic Terceira meal. The family that owns the restaurant raises the meat they serve and you can tell every meal is made with their own care. The spices are perfect compliments and the deserts are freshly made. Perfect lunch or dinner spot while exploring the island.

Sam S.

Yelp
Sweet little spot with very traditional food. All local ingredients, Azores wine, and friendly service. Everyone in Terceira recommended this place and For good reason.

Yelp
Possibly one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From start to finish, they know what they are doing. Amazing service. Amazing staff. You really are treated well here. We got the sampler plate it was out of this world good. The traditional beef stew was absolutely amazing as was everything else. If you are visiting the island, this is a must try kind of place. We are actually going back tomorrow for dinner because we don't think we will find anything else as wonderful as this. I've never gone to the same place twice back to back anywhere in the world so this is saying a lot. Come here and anything you get you will not be disappointed.

Yelp
The best food I had so far in Azores! Great service and authentic food! A melhor comida que já estive nos Açores!

Yelp
This place is amazing. The food is incredible and is served family style, at least with large groups. We've eaten here 3 times: twice with groups of about 40 people and once with a group of 8. She we ate with the large groups we reserved the restaurant for ourselves and ate on a Friday. They make the bread fresh just before your arrival in those instances. The food comes in courses and you will leave very full and satisfied. I highly recommend this restaurant if you want excellent traditional island food.

Yelp
Wonderful, rustic dinner! Everything is cooked on-premise from scratch. They have an option to do a traditional dinner course, where they pick everything for you...and it was amazing! Started with pork ribs (crispy pork belly), liver sauce (amazing, has both liver and pork in it and the most amazingly seasoned potatoes), black pudding (don't be deterred, it tastes incredible especially if you eat it with the oranges on the plate), and alcatra (traditional Portuguese pot roast that falls off the bone). They had a number of dessert options--I went with the traditional sweet vinegar pudding (really liked this, doesn't taste like vinegar, just subtly sweet). The ambiance is fantastic, feels like you're dining in a family friend's home. Very welcoming. We only had a party of two, but saw a lot of larger groups here as well that were easily accommodated. Well worth the drive, will be back again!

Yelp
Absolutely perfect. Feels like you are eating at a friend's house. Very good staff, very simple and delicious food. Get the sampler, spectacular. These folks can cook!

Yelp
This was the best food and experience I had in the Azores. Ti Choa is owned by two sisters who were incredibly friendly and talented. We sampled many local dishes selected by our tour guide. The servings were ample and each dish was amazing, melting in my mouth. The restaurant is decorated as if it is a home with farm tables that seat anywhere from 2 to 6. The service was fairly quick and extremely attentive. Wish I lived closer so I could make this a regular place to dine.
