The Best Restaurants in Porto, Portugal's Epicurean Gem | Condé Nast Traveler

"Housed in a cool, open space that feels like your stylish friend’s front room, this relaxed spot focuses on tasting great natural wines and ever-changing, fresh seasonal dishes; dinner is served Wednesday to Saturday and is cash only. Despite a heavily vegetarian-leaning menu, expect inventive plates such as cauliflower with coconut escabeche, mushrooms topped with a shoyuzuke yolk, and sea bass crudo with cashew and sage, while owners Tiago Feio and Cátia Roldão showcase some of Portugal’s best natural wines." - Abigail Malbon, Jessica-Belle Greer

It was so sad to hear that negotiations with the landlord had broken down and this amazing restaurant is going have to relocate… So our advice, get in there quick. It’s a two person show so you need to book in advance so they can prepare but the food is veggie driven and spectacular with some fish assistance. And for the small portions chat and negative point scoring, people need to remember that the small plates are to be shared. Not scoffed by oneself. The whole point of this style of eating is to throw as many delicious meals on the table and enjoy the flavour bombs that come from the kitchen. And they do. And if you are still hungry, you can get a plate of punchy Portuguese cheese. Or another plate of the sea bass, because that was banging. Wines are on the natural tilt, which is our kind of tilt. I am sure they can cater for more conventional wine drinkers too, but if you like your wines funky, these guys can sort you out. @tia tia please let us know where your next stop is. We will ensure to pass by.

Incredible dinner - surprised that this place wasn’t completely booked out. Dishes were extremely delicious, and so aesthetically pleasing as well. Everything was good, but the standout was carrot/pear with granola. Best dish we had in Porto! Good wines to go with the food. Very reasonably priced. Service was very friendly and welcoming. Make a reservation so you’re sure to eat at this amazing spot

The simplest & freshest ingredients, used in the most creative ways. Every dish was elevated and interesting. Including the natural wines, the funky orange was sublime. + don’t sleep on dessert: Fermented Banana & Sao Jorge cheese from the Azores (paired with a 10yr port) is the most curious dessert you’ll ever have. Just go already!

Tia Tia was one of, if not our best, meals in Porto. Each dish was carefully composed with fresh seasonal ingredients. The impeccable service and ambiance also heightened the experience. We looked forward to every dish, from its meticulous description by the maitre-d, the immaculate presentation and the blast of creative flavor associations. One of the highlights of our trip, Thank you!

The atmosphere felt a bit strange at first with some eery music at times, sometimes not. We felt like we were in someone’s living room (no one wearing a uniform or at least an apron maybe) which is actually consistent with the experience we got, but not the price we paid. They only have one person in the kitchen, which doesn’t make any sense as we were around 30 pax during that service, and you could see most of the tables without food half of the time. We took all the dishes to share, except the fish of the day and the dessert, knowing they recommend 4 dishes for 2 persons, so that’s what we had (and sourdough bread). I do appreciate the fact they use local products, that the plating was nice, and taste wise, it was decent, but nothing amazing too. The problem was that each dish is like an appetizer or a small starter (with a twist), and also that the pricing is neither matching the portion or the products. What adds to the frustration is that you’re waiting 20min between each tiny dish that you will finish in 2min, and that doesn’t fill you up, and that you won’t even remember at the end of the meal. I rarely review negatively but have to say it was one of our worst experience in a restaurant. We spent 2h30, almost 100e (we also had one bottle of wine, one extra glass and sparkling water) and unfortunately our last night in Porto there. Many reviews are describing the exact same experience so maybe they don’t want to address these constructive feedbacks, and think they know better. Being from hospitality, I know how harsh it is. Do things right, or don’t do it.

We came here for dinner and loved the location. It’s really well set up with a cool patio/outside area full of plants and good vibes. There were some gluten- and dairyfree options (small menu though). The kitchen looked super clean and nice and the food is minimalistic and creative. Our favorite was the Japanese egg yolk dish. Great selection of natural wines. Only downside was that we had to wait a tiny bit too long in between dishes. Was maybe just one of these days. Still a great recommendation and has all the potential to be super busy soon!

What an amazing experience. You can see/smell/taste/feel/hear the owners’ passion for Portuguese cuisine. With each bite and sip, you’ll come to know their culinary circle. This is a must-visit for natural wine lovers— all wine is sourced from their friends’ vineyards. For in-season, mouthwatering dishes and Michelin Star service, you cannot miss Tia Tia. Obrigada. Until next time ❤️

Wow! Unique and creative dishes with natural wine. I think people don’t share it because they are afraid to expose it to others… The only thing to take in consideration is that the dishes and relatively small and the prices and around 10-15 euros per course.
