Austin’s New Restaurant & Bar Openings - Austin - The Infatuation

"Located in Chinatown near Lamar and Braker Lane, Golden Palace is the latest addition to Austin’s small but mighty dim sum scene. The space features a large, banquet-style dining room with lots of big round tables with lazy susans, and an extensive menu of dumplings and entrees." - nicolai mccrary, matthew jacobs

The 13 Best Lunch Spots In Austin - Austin - The Infatuation

"Dim sum carts are some of the most exciting things on four wheels, but in Austin they’re a rare sight, unless you find yourself at Tian Tian Golden Palace near Braker and North Lamar. During daytime hours, servers whisk metal trollies loaded with baskets of steamed dumplings and buns through a busy banquet hall, pausing only to unload their treasures onto giant round tables. The selection varies from day to day, but you can generally expect to find most of the classic dim sum dishes." - nicolai mccrary, adele hazan, raphael brion

The 7 Best Dim Sum Restaurants In Austin

"Austin doesn’t have a lot of places where dim sum is served on wheels, unless you find yourself at Tian Tian Golden Palace near Braker and North Lamar. Here, servers whisk carts filled with metal baskets of steaming dumplings and buns through a packed banquet hall, pausing only to unload their treasures onto giant round tables. By night, it’s more of an à la carte operation, but by day it’s dumplings as far as the eye can see. Get on the waitlist and make yourself comfy—this place gets busy, especially on weekends." - nicolai mccrary

Google
Heard about this new dim sum place couple of weeks ago. Decided to give a try today. Was really impressed. Good quality food, clean and nice dining space, very comfortable sitting area. So happy to find out that there’s a good dim sum restaurant in Austin now. Will definitely go back again and again for dim sum for sure😋 l checked their lunch and dinner menu on my way out, lots of seafood, will give a try next time.

Google
Friyayyyy Dim Sum and this is my second one for the week! Came here with my soul sister and her friend and I was skeptical at first from the reviews but what do I know! This is the most valued great food for your money! Nice service, attentive staff, efficient system, no wait on tables, food came on time well cooked and the tables are big! We had the Peking duck, Siomai, pork buns, soup and sesame balls. It is in Chinatown in Austin and it is a great stop in itself it’s next to MT market! Clean, lots of parking! Open seating and with already set tables. Love it!

Google
The best Dim Sum in Austin! Every dish we got was yummy, but my favorites were the BBQ Pork buns and the Chive Dumplings 🤩 The lobster was delicious and the sauce was very fragrant. The egg tarts were like nothing I've had before - very flaky and buttery crust and not too sweet. Our server was Shaun (or Shawn - I didn't catch the spelling!), and he was incredibly attentive and friendly. Every person helping with the cart service was also very friendly and kind. Highly recommend Tian Tian for anyone looking for delicious dim sum!

Google
Listen up folks! There is a new 5 gold stars standard Hong Kong style Chinese restaurant in Austin. It's name is Tian Tian Golden Palace! The Dim Sums cart service are excellent on the weekends & they are delicious! They also serve limited dim sum on any other meal services too. I must rave about the Peking Duck! It is amazing 👏 I really don't know how they got the skins to be so crisp and melt in your mouth! It is simply divine! You simply must try it if you like ducks! The only things to improve is the steamed pancakes wrappers. Those can be bigger, fluffier & less sticky to each other. Their staff are so courteous & attentive too. They immediately got a complimentary snack for my 2 years old grandson the moment we sat down to entertain him.

Google
My number 1 place to go for Chinese dim sum/Cantonese cuisine! Their dim sum tastes really great with a quite reasonable price. I like their lobster noodles which has a special price $32 for a whole lobster with noodles! The owner is very kind by giving us complimentary shrimp which is bouncy and fresh! Their environment is clean and great just next to MT market. Service is great too. They are not busy and def recommend to go if you like great and fresh dim sum and seafood at a fair price!!! Plus their tip is pre-tax tip! Trustable!! 好吃好吃 都来吃!!!

Google
AUTHENTIC CANTONESE DIM SUM in Austin. Incredible staff and service. I love how they had Chinese, Vietnamese and Spanish speakers pushing the carts. Everything was very fresh and CLEAN. Open kitchen so you can see them make the food. My kid enjoyed looking at the live fish in the tanks. We ordered a scallop dish and beef noodles off the menu and it was very good. Highly recommend if you like authentic canto food and dim sum.

Google
This used to be the Fortune Restaurant, which has relocated to 620. Atmosphere - interior was redone. Tables and chairs too - they somehow project a classier interior, albeit somewhat bulky. Place was very well lit. Service - was prompt. Sufficient staff were around to take your orders, top off drinks, deliver food, and attend to diners' needs. Orders are taken through tablets that each staff carries on a sling. Food - their lunch specials were $2-3 more expensive than typical ones - but servings were huge - good for 1.5 - 2 persons. Dimsum can be ordered weekdays and the kitchen would prepare them for you. On weekends, they'd be on push carts going around the dining area. Dimsum prices range from $5 to $10 a serving. If ordering tea, the table would be charged $2 per person seated, regardless if the others won't be partaking. There is also a new addition - aquariums hosting libr seafood, assuring fresh supply for your dish, should you be ordering lobsters, crabs, ells, etc.

Google
Very authentic Cantonese food in the Austin area. I have been here multiple times before making this review and the food and service has been great every time. Their menus seems to have been update recently as well and have lowered their prices on some items. The food is great, seafood is fresh and kept in a tank, definitely would make this my go to spot for food from now on.

Yelp
Came here during a weekday soft opening and was surprised to see actual carts! It's hard to find that nowadays and especially in Austin. Food was fine. Better than New Fortune's weekday dim sum but not as good as some of the higher end places like Lin, Xi, Ling Wu chain. However, the price certainly reflect that...it's half the price as some of the bougier places. Great value for a wide selection imo. Service was also great. The manager came to chat with us and was very pleasant. Will definitely be back after the official open.

Yelp
The newest dim sum place in Austin is open! They haven't officially opened yet, but I'm still impressed with the food. In the span of a week, I've tried their dim sum and dinner entrees. For dim sum, expect long waits. You can check in to get a ticket number and our group waited for over an hour before we were finally seated. They aren't maximizing space effectively. There were a lot of huge tables that can seat 8 that only had a few people. They can possibly get less lazy susans and more four person tables. Although you get a menu, you can't actually order the food from there and one of the managers(?) explained that maybe in the future they can take orders from the piece of paper, but for now due to the large demand of dim sum, we can only order food from the push carts. So if you see something on the carts, better get it! The egg tart actually fell apart but the taste is really good! I enjoy the bird cage decorations. I heard back in the days, rich Chinese people would bring their pet birds so they can talk to each other? No birds here, but the story behind it is cool. For dinner, you can make a reservation. There is no wait. We got Peking duck, honey walnut shrimp, fish, and of course you cannot forget the staples-tea and rice! Located in Chinatown, so there is parking available.

Yelp
Tian tian! Tian = sky, tian tian = everyday. Dim sum tian tian I'm leaving a 4 star rating for now because they're not "fully open" and their grand opening is still TBA as they are awaiting some menu items and working on their structure. You're going to walk into folks learning their process and getting their footing and menu items that are not available right now so come with an empty tummy and an open mind! The food here is amazing, the pork baos the pork tripe, the steamed sticky rice, and the shrimp dumplings. All so flavorful and please don't forget the chili oil! I'll definitely be back once more menu items come out *cough cough* custard baos *cough cough* Francis and Chloe were amazing hosts and gave an amazing customer experience while being transparent about their evolving process and things they're working through as a business and I can respect that vulnerability since it shows accountability. Tian tian, keep doing what you're doing! Can't wait to be back and see the additions you all are making!

Yelp
I'm so glad that they finally reopened here, this location is so much more convenient than other spots for us. I guess they won a bonus point for extra convenience because they have both dim sum and peking duck (I haven't seen any good place having these both on the menu). Dim sum was ok, not spectacular but pretty promising. Peking duck was actually good, I can see our families coming here for that more often. We came on Monday lunch and were seated right away, the staff was very nice and helpful. The carts, on the other hand, can be improved. They have only a few dishes and also not very efficient on the routes, our table was skipped a few times. We were waiting for a specific dish for a long time and couldn't help but asking the waiters to help. They were so nice and helped us pick up the dish directly from the kitchen bar so we didnt have to wait much longer. So, i would say the food itself was only 3 stars but the staff and the location made up for it.

Yelp
Showed up around 10:45a on a Sunday during opening weekend and waited just under an hour for an 8-person table, which was a bit longer than I was expecting given how large the place is but I won't hold it against them. I imagine the hype will die down in a couple months and wait times will be a bit more "normal". Honestly, it's probably advisable to just wait a bit before making a visit as many things were unavailable. Most seafood dishes were not available to order and they didn't even have jasmine tea which I found a bit strange (though they did offer a chrysanthemum oolong blend which I really enjoyed and would get again over jasmine). All of the standard dim sum items were solid and what you would expect from a typical dim sum spot in Dallas or Houston. I can't recall anyone really having any complaints. Overall, they're definitely a step level (or two) above the other more traditional dim sum option in town (Shanghai). I can't see how Shanghai will be able to stay in business now that Tian Golden Palace has opened.

Yelp
What a treat! Coming from houston it's been hard to find decent dim sum in austin. This was fabulous! I have found our happy place for my Chinese mom to get her fix. We will definitely come back. We came on a Wednesday around noon and we were seated right away.

Yelp
Best Dim Sum I've had in Austin. Check-in was easy. Everything tasted more fresh than some other places in town. The prawn harcao, shumai, and sbbq pork buns were fantastic. We went on 3/2/2025 and everyone working was so friendly. We sat in the corner that was the farthest from the kitchen and all the hosts, waitstaff, and cart staff went out of there way to make sure we weren't neglected. Will come back!

Yelp
Soft opening went as planned but I heard from one of our servers that they hadn't anticipated such a grand turn out. Looks like there are issues in the floor and not getting food to the tables today. This does happen to any first day. The restaurant looks wonderful and well decorated. Well mannered servers. Looking forward to our return. Things will get sorted out. This space is what this part of town needs.

Yelp
This place is still in their soft opening stage, so food options were limited. However, the dishes we ordered were excellent and they have an attentive cart service. What stood out to me was the service. I had the GM and at least 4 other people constantly checking on our table and asking what dishes we'd like when the carts weren't strolling past us. They gave details on what to expect with the grand opening in two weeks and assured the full menu would be available. I'm excited to come back for the grand opening and was extremely pleased with our first visit.

Yelp
We were second on the wait list and waited for 30 minutes until the whole waiting room filled up. Each party got seated before us because they were a larger party. I asked the three hosts what the seating structure was like, and they let me know that they seat based on the party size that leaves after dining... that defeats the purpose of a wait list if you're just picking and choosing a random party to be seated just because it's a larger party that fits the open table... Incomplete large parties were getting seated right in front of us! We decided to leave when we overheard a man who finished eating whisper to his friend in the waiting room that they ran out of everything 40 minutes into opening already. Was really excited to try, but the first impressions from the hosts left a sour taste in my mouth.

Yelp
I am not even going to waste my time writing because it is that bad. The food was not only extremely limited but they were bad.... Some even tasted hard and old! The service was even worse. Slooow as heck with no communication when the dish was ordered and us waiting forever only to find out that it was not even available! I will NOT be returning!

Yelp
Possibly the best dim sum we've had in Austin. We went in their soft opening so they were still working out a few things but the staff was super attentive, ensuring that we had carts coming around and we had what we wanted. Will definitely be back again!

Yelp
We waited for about 10 minutes, and no server came to take our drink order, even though there were about five servers looking around. It felt like we were being ignored, especially since they prioritized a table of four that arrived after us. Thankfully, one staff member noticed us looking around and came over to help, which we really appreciated. The food was okay, but the service left a lot to be desired. It's disappointing to feel overlooked, and I hope they improve their attentiveness to all guests.

Yelp
SOOO GOOD! The staff were all super nice (thanks for hosting us so well Vincent) and the food was extremely high quality. Plus it was extremely peaceful, so we left in a great mood. Definitely bringing our friends here!

Yelp
The soft opening of this new restaurant is definitely promising. I say this based on the menu and general ambience I experienced tonight. Unfortunately there was no dim sum or any of the seafood dishes promised in the menu. We enjoyed the duck and the silky mapu tofu. The cabbage was excellent and the other dishes could benefit from stronger spices as the chef seems overly timid. The Chongching chicken was disappointing. I am hopeful things will improve with time.

Kai C.

Yelp
Dim sum cart is slow, the selection is very few, the popular items are already out of stock. Only one dish of chicken feet, didn't see shrimp dumplings The service was chaotic, the cart routine was totally mess up. The cart passed by my table was always almost ran out of dishes The food itself was mediocre, some of them were even below the average, like the most popular one, chicken feet. NO RECOMMEND. AGAIN, NO RECOMMEND.
