Tides Oyster Bar

Absolutely love this place. You have to drive a ways away from the strip but it beats waiting 4 hours in line for the Oyster bar in Palace Station. The Pan Roast is delicious! I'm sure the rest of the food is good too but I love their Pan Roast so much that I always end up ordering that. The service was fantastic! My wife even was even given a key lime pie for her birthday - also was great! Can't wait to come here again.

My wife and I had the unique pleasure of returning to Tides Oyster Bar this past Valentines' Day for dinner and had a wonderful time. Made the evening really special. We started with a bottle of Rose, which is all we needed, and a couple Caesar Salads that were very tasty. Next we shared a special appetizer they offered, a fresh King Crab cake, and that might have been the tastiest dish of the night, and possibly the year. The rest was fantastic as well, but take a look at the Crab cake photo and tell me it doesn't look like a must have everytime you come here. For the main course, my wife had a Pan Roast which she enjoyed very much, and I had the 1 lb. King Crab legs with mashed potatoes and fresh green beans, which I think also was a Valentines' Day special. I can say first hand that this was incredible. I was on the King Crab trip since my first bite of the crab cake, and this was no sleeper either. Cooked perfectly, and cut to dig in. The potatoes were whipped and the beans excellent as well. After being cajoled into dessert, we finally relented (twist our arm huh) and had the Creme brulee. Again, take a look at the posted photo(s) and you can see that it looked and tasted Awesome. Lastly, I want to thank the ownership and staff for making last night so special. From the hostess and server, to enjoying a conversation with Chef Hunter, who came out several times to see if we were taken care of, we truly felt like our patronage was appreciated, and Tides Oyster Bar had truly earned a spot in our minds to continue making this one of our favorite dining experiences here in Henderson. If you didn't read this whole review, the main point is Highly Recommended.

Great spot for seafood. Excellent oysters and Ceasar salad. The Clam Chowder was a bit too creamy for my taste but my partner liked it. Shrimp scampi was good. Service was great. Will definitely be on my repeat list.

Where do I begin... this was so terrible. Look at the burnt asparagus. The snow crabs were boiled water, too long that the crabs were soft, tasted very very bland. The butter was served 15 min before the “entree” was delivered. The best part of the meal the bottled water and specialty drink requested. The Philly sushi roles were just plain nasty. If you like hospital food than this is the place for you. Will visit the casino but this place never again.

Oyster was fresh! I strongly recommend 'Tide Signature Combo Pan Roast'. We had it with noodle and steamed rice. (We are Korean, I think it is a good menu for Asian who doesn't like greasy food.) Thank Jon! He is super kind and professional. I definitely come here again soon!

This was my third time here and we had a great meal! The Pan Roast and Ettoufe are not as good as Oyster Bar, but still delicious. The sushi is excellent, and the shrimp and catfish were also good. Service was good this time (Thursday night), but in the past was a bit slow. Worth it if you get one of their coupons they send to locals.

Really great service. Our waitress, sharee was very accomidating. We ordered enough for for 5 people (i thought i was starving) and it was just 2 of us and the bill still came to only $110. Well we ordered 3 drinks, and 5 plates of food. Full meals. So it was nice. Employees were all friendly. I had a drink called a hurricane.... wow!! (Im not a drinker) it was really smooth and good. I actually found this place by accident. I put in a name on my Google maps. I guess i wasn't paying attention, this popped up, still not paying attention, it took me here. I was too hungry to leave, so I said we staying, lets try it out... sooo glad we did!!

This place was hands down amazing!! The grilled oysters and fresh were to die for. We had the most amazing service. Cecilio was outstanding everyone should ask for him he’ll make you feel at home.

Delicious and come hungry!! Fresh seafood all the time and they know how to do seafood right. Everything is cooked fresh and we saw the cooks make our house gumbo. The house gumbo included lobster, crab and shrimp. We split it and added a cup of rice and perfect amount for the 2 of us. We ordered a level 5 spice and it definitely had a kick to it plus it was piping out temperature wise. We sat at the bar and it was great watching them cook all the food. It comes with complimentary bread as well that's perfect for dipping. The waitress was very sweet and efficient with everyone's order. There are a lot of tables inside, more than the other oyster bars at other station casinos. They do cut off seating at 9pm. We came the previous night at 9pm and they refused to let us in even though we were 1 minute late. We did get mad about that since we were starving too. Overall, this place is a must try and everything looks amazing!

I was looking for a laid-back spot for some oysters and was excited to try this newly revamped Oyster Bar (formerly Tides Oyster Bar). It is located inside Green Valley Ranch (Casino) near the main entrance. There was plenty of signage to help you find it, but several of their signs still say Tides. The name change seems recent, but folks at GVR are friendly and will send you in the right direction. I was here on a Sunday evening so it wasn't super busy, but there was a steady stream of patrons and to-go orders. I was seated at the bar (a favorite of mine while dining solo) and was immediately approached by Sheree who informed me I was just in time for their Sunday Happy Hour, with half off oysters and beer (Sundays only, 4-9pm). Score! Their menu is seafood focused, and their cocktail menu looked intriguing. When I'm settling in for oysters and other seafood, I typically stick with wine, so I would try one of their cocktails on my next visit (or if I was with my plus one). Here's a breakdown of what I ordered: - Seasonal Oysters (1 dozen, mix of Miyagi, Blue Point, Kumamoto, Chesapeake): I really liked the variety they had for their seasonal oysters. My favorites were the Miyagi and Chesapeake, but the flavors all seemed relatively mild and there were quite a few shell pieces in some. - Gulf Oysters (1 dozen): These were pretty disappointing; they are large but super watery and bland. Several of the oysters I had were icy in the middle as though they were frozen, then thawed. I know getting fresh oysters in LV is a challenge, but it was a bit of a let down from an oyster bar. - Steamed Mussels (garlic herb broth): This was a fantastic dinner portion! Every mussel was open and had a good texture and quality. I got these with the garlic herb broth, but you can also order these in a red beer-style broth. I was so glad I went classic since I also used it on my pasta side (below), and took my leftover broth home to sip as a soup. - Pasta (side): I needed to add some starch to my meal, and I wanted something that would yield some leftovers. The side of pasta comes plain, but Sheree offered to have it tossed in some butter and garlic to give it a little flavor. This was a great hack, in addition to putting some of the garlic herb broth on top! - Santa Margarita Pinot Grigio: Crisp, light and refreshing! This went particularly well with both the oysters and the garlicky broth with the mussels. Overall my experience here was fantastic, I was just a little disappointed with the quality of some of the oysters. I would come back to try a few of their other menu items (like the Seafood Jambalaya and House Étouffée) and to give the oysters another chance. Looking forward to stopping by again!

The newly branded Oyster Bar (no more Tides) at GVR is the most recent of the original Oyster Bar locations for Station Casinos. The nice part here is that it's a much bigger restaurant with traditional table seating for those of you who don't like to sit on the high top chairs that are one of the key characteristics of the Palace Station (and Durango) Oyster Bars. And they don't charge for bread like you are at Santa Fe Station's version! (And the bread is delicious) Of course the popular trendy items are the Pan Roasts (which I've had but don't really fit my flavor profile), but we come because one of our group loves the cioppino. As always, the cioppino hit the mark. Lots of seafood and the tomato based broth was the perfect sauce. I have tried a number of items trying to find my go to... today's experiment was gumbo and I went with traditional shrimp. This was full of shrimp and andouille sausage, but I'm not a spicy person, so I went with a lower spice level and didn't feel like the flavor was as deep as when I've had gumbo before. I have to admit that I took home leftovers and it tasted better the next day so maybe there's something about the sauce sitting for awhile. That said, it was tasty and maybe those of you who love gumbo will tell me I'm wrong. Don't worry there are still a few other options out there. (The Bouilla-Roast - a Bouillabaisse with a little pan roast sauce - may be next). Service was great as there were plenty of staff there for the number of tables at the time. Our server kept our glasses full and the bread flowing. We will definitely be back and I will find my go to dish!

Favorite restaurant in Vegas hands down. And no one knows about it so it's always empty. In a back corner of GVR near the sports book. Everything seafood done perfectly. I only get one thing here. Étouffée. I lived in Houston for 6 years and know what a good etoufffee is. This thing has crab, shrimp and lobster in it. Massive amounts for ~$25 (plus tax and tip). Everything is perfect. Order on a heat scale of 1-10. I go 10 which is enough to hurt me but not prevent me from finishing. I even add some tobacco for vinegar. But I am a heatonista. This level might hurt most of you. For me it's the perfect level of amazing taste and pain. Anyway the do so much more like chowders, boils, Chopino, jambalaya.... Any thing seafood. And affordable! Best seafood in Vegas if you want it in a sauce of any kind. Not sure I would just get a piece of fish here - not what they do!

Food: linguine with clams in white wine sauce, green valley pan roast. Delicious linguine and clams. I love the way they flavor it with fresh herbs and lemon. Lip-smacking good. Hubby liked how heart the pan roast was since it included chicken. The bread baskets are also nicer at this location. Location: inside GVR. We had been going to the other location at Sunset Station and didn't realize this is the same restaurant and super close to our house! Way more convenient and we like the ambiance better as GVR is nicer than Sunset Station and this restaurant is bigger. This is totally now our go to location! Ambiance: this restaurant is huge compared to Sunset Station. The bar is gigantic and although they aren't cooking right in front of you (more towards the back and you can see them), I absolutely LOVE this spacious bar. They also have lots of tables for larger parties. Service: similar to other locations; no frills; to the point, but they know what they are doing.

My family has been telling me to try Tides for a while now. I have to say it lived up the the hype. Shrimp cocktail was great. Huge shrimp, not fishy, and with great cocktail sauce as well. No notes. I ordered 1/2 a dozen oysters...and let me tell you these things came out and were HUGE. One looked like a tongue it was so huge. I couldn't eat them. So I sent them back, and the server advised I needed to order the Market oysters. Which I did, and those were a normal size. Didn't blow me away but were not bad oysters. My main was the combo pan roast. Has crab, shrimp, and lobster. Soo good! So much flavor, so much seafood. Yum yum yum. Loved it. I will be going back just for that.

I love all the other stations oyster bars palace or sunset but the food here is bland it's spicy hot but no other flavors

Be going here for years, will only return on half pts day. The prices are out of control for a casino owned restaurant. It's pasta! I ordered the shrimp linguine with add on of crab. The crab was shredded to smaller than baby oysters. I said you forgot $9.99 add on of crab and they said no thats it. It has 5 shrimp which I used to cut in half, now they're 1 biters. The food is cooked right there and it was lukewarm warm. I used to make 2 meals out of it, it's pasta the stuff is cheap, it's barely a hand full. Won't be eating there again. It's not even worth my 1/2 pts on Wednesday. Service is good but I cannot tip someone 20% when the cost is too high for the amount of food you get which is too little. Do not recommend this place, too expensive.

I love this restaurant because of the clam chowder and Alaska chowder. The soup is tasty and delicious. Ask for Jon he's a great waiter and will help you with any questions. The ambience is relaxing after a long day of work.

Had to try their clam chowder and Caesar salad with jumbo shrimp. Amazing! Chowder was served at a perfect temperature. The Caesar salad tasted excellent and the jumbo shrimp tasted fresh. It's the day after Christmas and didn't have to wait too long to be seated. Sheree is also amazing! She's quick and attentive. Restaurant is very clean and well lit. As well as James. He also checked in to see if I needed anything. Open kitchen in the middle so you can watch the chef prepare food. All in all, I would definitely return. Thank you!

Always enjoyed Tides! Great clam chowder! Love the linguine with clams and fresh and delicious oysters on the half shell! Yummy warm, fresh bread with butter to start!

Tides has changed its name to "Oyster Bar." But of all the oyster bars at station hotels, this new incarnation was the most disappointing. They reduced the menu offerings, and managed to reduce the flavor of their food. A real tastelessdisappointment.

2.29/2024- Our last night and we stopped in to share a meal.. Kind of bummed that the menu had changed and the fritto misto was missing.. Both ordered a cup of red and white clam chowder... Delish and piping hot! We also shared a Caesar... Main entree shared the linguini and clams.. Really appreciate the staff and service.. Food was good and enjoy when the food comes out hot.. I just might have to admit the chowders are better here than my city.. lol.. Always a treat to re-visit..

I visit Las Vegas every August. The Tides is amazing. New England clam chowder and the lobster pan roast. The best I've had. I live in New Jersey and nothing compares to the tides. I may move here just for the Tides. Nick from Jersey.

It was a great day until we stopped @Tides for dinner last month. We frequent this location which has the same familiar faces years later- love this! Sadly, when Hubs went to order his regular "fried shrimp dinner" it's no longer listed on the menu. Then we notice how the menu has drastically changed @ Tides Oyster Bar. This seafood restaurant has removed ALL FRIED / GRILLED FOOD from their menu! The staff is great, the chef is talented- as were his specials which have also been axed! I witnessed several unhappy patrons as we browsed the new menu. We even watched as one table left before placing an order. Why would Stations send customers to other restaurants/casinos only to find what they removed from the Tides menu? The Stations execs who made this decision are only taking money from loyal staff members while losing customers. Why tie the hands of a talented chef while removing his excellent well crafted specials ? #makesnosense #dobetterstations

What a great oyster bar inside GVR Resort! I've been wanting to come here for a long time and we finally made it in. You can find Tides right next to the sportsbook. I made a reservation on OpenTable on 11/17/23 at 7:30pm. Upon our arrival, we were immediately acknowledged and seated by the hostess. Because it was our first time here, she suggested some of our favorite dishes to try. Afterwards, we were greeted by Jon, our host for the night. We were given a thing of bread to start off with, and though it was some good bread, I told myself, don't fill up on bread! I had my eye on the New England Clam Chowder, which I ended up ordering in a bowl. All my family is from New England...which, by the way, ALWAYS has the most amazing clam chowder, hands down. Though it was only a starter and not an actual entree, it was excellent and it was just enough to fill me up. Clam chowder is never complete without oyster crackers, which I was given to put in my bowl. My boyfriend ordered the seafood jambalaya, which was topped with mussels and clams. Other ingredients included shrimp, crab, lobster, and andouille sausage. Even after warning him that it was going to be really hot and that he should wait a few minutes, he ate it right when he got it and complained that he burned his tongue, because he didn't want to wait to eat it. Despite this, he commented that this was a great meal. He tried to finish the whole thing, but he couldn't and asked for a to-go box. This ended up being his lunch the next day. We really liked Tides! The food was delicious, the service was friendly and quick and the ambiance was cozy and enjoyable.

As middling as middling gets. Ate here 4 times. Never had a bad meal. Never had a great meal. Each meal was run of the mill which is a classic 3 star rating. Place is clean, staff is friendly. Want a quick solid meal.....this is your place. Want something more I would avoid. If the prices were cheaper the star rating would increase. Can't charge more than average for average food.

Food: variety of tasty stew selections ranging from gumbo to Cioppino. For spicy lovers, there are spice levels. Although pricey but not as bad. Service: Busy times require patience from customers. Employees do try hard to to please without looking grumpy. Tip wisely!!!! Ambience: nice decor and seating setups from counter bar to booth settings. Typical casino vibe.

I've been going to tides for two decades and missed a certain menu item that was discontinued. When I went last night, I was talking about it to the Chef Grant, then he went in the back and made me the best version of it I've ever tasted! So thoughtful, kind, giving and generous to do when he didn't have to! I couldn't believe how good it was! I ordered a second one haha what a gem of a chef! Thank you so much, Grant, for making my night! You are a gifted chef and kind hearted person! Thank you!

Ordered a straight up Tanqueray Gin Martini chilled. They brought me a tasteless swill gin martini. When I sent it back, the waitress returned to tell me the bartender said it tasted like that because the gin was served "out of the gun" that they have it on tap and not in a bottle. Even if Tanqueray could be served out of a gun or tap; you would expect that from a dive bar - not a nice establishment. Okay, insult me once. I then said please bring me a "double" Makers Mark, neat, instead. She brings me a single, and tells me it's a double. Strike two. The Oysters were obviously farm raised oysters - bland as the day they were produced. Strike three. We walked out after paying the bill. Never made it to dinner. For a place we were dying to try, we were never so disappointed by any eatery in GVR. And we eat in GVR often.

I hadn't been to Tides in quite some time, but used to frequent it for lunch and dinner. The physical location hasn't changed at all. The menu still has some old favorites but they dropped several items. No longer has sushi or crab legs available. However, the remaining menu items are still quite good. The staff here is always nice. Service can sometimes take a while but it's a great place for a relaxed dinner or lunch!

We haven't eaten here in years and decided to have dinner while at GVR. The hostess wasn't terribly friendly and I was pleased that our server, Shannon, was warm and friendly. My mate had a shrimp cocktail and a bowl of New England Clam Chowder and he was very happy with the shrimp cocktail but he encountered some very chewy clams in his chowder and said it was just okay as far as flavor. I asked a lot of questions about the menu since it's changed drastically since we were last there. Shannon was super helpful and patient with all my questions and ultimately was able to help me narrow my choice down. Her recommendation was the secret menu item Bouill-Roast since I didn't want anything too creamy and heavy. It has a lighter saffron broth and I even asked to have the mussels and clams left out and to replace them with cod fish. This was a fresh and delicious meal that I would recommend to anyone dining here. It was the perfect choice full of crab, lobster, cod and shrimp. Our server was an absolute pleasure and I'm happy we decided to stay and give it a try in spite of the menu changes. I'll be back to have this again, it was that good.

The clam chowder is absolutely wonderful, my absolute favorite in all of Las Vegas. The food is fresh. The crab & clams are a family favorite of ours:

New menu, tasty! Was a 3 for me, but now a strong 4. Clams on the half shell and the okra gumbo. It's not the best gumbo, but it's good for gumbo. Can't compare to N.O but great for Westcoast gumbo. No file but okra and rue, my style.

I got the linguini and clams and it was delicious. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the clams were free of sand. Price was reasonable. I'm coming back for sure.

We sat at bar. Service was great! Fast & tentative. Ordered some New Orleans style food: Charbroiled Oysters, Bouillabaisse, and New Orleans Gumbo. The oyster while not as good as our favorite place in French Quarter in New Orleans, it is surly the best in Vegas that we have tried. Bouillabaisse is very good as well. But our absolutely favorite was the Gumbo! Oh boy! It's even better than couple of popular places in French Quarters! Will order it every time no doubt!

Overall the food was pretty good. I always get a little weary when trying new seafood but everything was delicious. I got the linguine shrimp scampi and it was delicious! My dad got the cioppino and said it was pretty good, not the best he's had but still delicious. The waitress was super kind and the restaurant itself was stunning and elegant.

Hubby and I decided to have our dinner date at Green Valley Resort at the Tides Oyster Bar. The seafood was phenomenal! The restaurant is spacious and there was no wait! We got seated so quick and the workers were so nice! Our waitress Liza was awesome. Always tending to us and making sure we are ok. We ordered the special which was steak and shrimp. I watched my whole meal cooked in front of me as we sat at the bar. Hubby ordered the pan roast mild which was a lot in servings. As for appetizers we had the charbroiled oysters which was delicious! And our New England clam chowder in a bowl was a great serving between me and the hubby. Definitely was worth a dinner date!

Chef James's Roger's was amazing. His recommendations were on point. Everything was great. Our server Sheree was amazing as well. Can't wait to come back.

Food: The pan roast is delish! And so is the southern fried shrimp appetizer and beignet dessert! Service: The service is hit or miss sometimes. But overall pretty good. Ambiance: Very casual... nothing trendy or fancy but a good stop for a quick meal.

First time trying any type of pan roast. I had it with only chicken and sausage. Surprisingly, it was pretty good. However, they could add a 2nd scoop of rice for the price. Overall... food was good, service was great and didn't mind the restaurant location.

Yummmmmyyy!!! This place is a must for their gumbo and I love their shrimp scampi. Cocktails are good and the ambience is very relaxed and you can always watch sports on the tvs they have at the bar. Service is great and everyone is always friendly. We normally don't need reservations but if you have a party of more than 2 then I do recommend reservations or calling ahead to find out about wait time. Please try their gumbo and their bread basket is a nice touch!

We've gone to Tides a number of times over the years. I normally always get the Pan Roast because it is so good but I'm trying to sample most of their other dishes. Tonight's choice was the New Orleans Gumbo. It was loaded with large shrimp, crab, lobster, sausage, and okra. I wish there would have been a little more sausage, but I might be too picky. I liked the Gumbo, but I probably won't order it again as there are other entrees I like more, such as the Etouffee. You did get a large serving, I had to get a to-go container to finish it off at home. My wife got her usual fish and chips. They serve three pieces of haddock that are fried nicely. It is not loaded with breading and is quite tasty. The chips/fries are good, but nothing overly memorable. What is memorable is the delicious warm sourdough bread that is served upon your arrival. The service was good and it's fun to sit at the bar and watch the cooks in the open kitchen prepare your food. Just FYI, Tides is only open from 4 pm to 9 pm. It's located right next to the sportsbook.

Another lovely dinner, this time after seeing a movie (80 for Brady). Liza was an excellent waitress. The sourdough bread, which I had been looking forward to, wasn't very good; I think it was stale. Husband's Jambalaya was good but he was put off a bit by the way some of the meat was "burned" on the outside. He ordered it "mild" and was glad he did. You may also choose 'medium' or 'hot.' I ordered the salmon which was actually good but I assume it was farm-raised; otherwise, the menu would have described it as "fresh caught." I am avoiding rice, so Liza suggested putting the salmon on a bed of asparagus. That was awesome! We were celebrating a wedding anniversary, so the restaurant comped a dessert. I chose the beignets which I took home. Good, not great, but I do appreciate it. We'll be back in about six weeks to see another Lily Tomlin / Jane Fonda movie (Moving On) and we'll eat here again that evening. It's consistent.

No more sashimi or sushi rolls anymore. Focus is on oysters now. The yummy sourdough bread and clam chowder are still here and yummy. I mix the Manhattan and New England style 50/50! They have hot pots, salads, other seafood and specials. The vegetable sides are a deal, too!

I can finally say I've had the legendary seafood pan roast! I don't normally get this excited to try something new, but I'd heard of this dish through the years! Tides is located by the sports book in GVR. We had a reservation so were seated immediately. I had the combination seafood pan roast spicy and really enjoyed it! There were large pieces of crab, shrimp and lobster throughout my bowl. It didn't have a strong tomato taste to it which I liked. I did order mine spicy but it wasn't spicy at all. I'd at least like to work a little bit of a sweat! 4/5 people at our table got pan roast and we all liked it. One person got the fish & chips and I don't think he was too impressed. He said the fish was really greasy. Our waitress was very nice and attentive. If you haven't had the seafood pan roast yet, give it a try! I'm glad I finally did!

My husband wanted to go here for his birthday, he love the pan roast. I don't eat seafood I had a delicious chicken Caesar salad. Our server Liza was so warm and welcoming. She made our dinner special.

Ok so we decided to try this place out last time we stayed at GVR. It's an ok place to go if you're not wanting to do the traditional cafe or wanting to travel for seafood or sushi but by no means is it amazing. We started off with the sashimi appetizer. We have this a 3/5. The fish was just ok, not super fresh and the pieces were cut pretty thick. They have a crab leg special for about 25 bucks. Again, it's decent. Snow crab legs so not much meat and if you want to get your money's worth you'll need to work for it. We also tried a few assorted sushi rolls. Quality was decent and the rolls themselves were constructed nicely. But there wasn't really much that stood out. If you're staying here and don't want to travel then by all means give it a a shot. If you want to venture out a few blocks I'm sure you can find better quality sushi.

I come here for the warm sourdough bread with butter. I ask for the Manhattan and New England clam chowder together in my bowl. Wonderful to dip those sourdough bread into. Got the crab platter and it was sweet and delicious. Best to make a reservation.

My wife and I's go to spot for a Seafood Pan Roast. If you're a Vegas local and love seafood then you've probably been in one of the Station Casinos and seen the oyster bar open late. Well do yourself a favor and stop in, order the Pan Roast Combo and be hit in the face with flavor. The Pan Roast at Tides is so flavorful and always consistent. The rice is perfectly cooked and the seafood always fresh (the attached photo is when they split the Pan Roast, which I highly suggest because the portion is so large, my wife and I just share). We ordered the Jumbo Shrimp Cocktail and the Chargrilled oysters and were equally impressed. We've been coming to Tides for years and are never let down, so if you're near a Station Casino (if you live in Vegas you'll be near one anywhere lol) and get a hankering for seafood, stop in a for a solid meal.

We had a take-out meal of Crispy Soft Shell Crab appetizer (garlic ponzu, spicy mayo), Caesar salad, and Étouffée (shrimp, crab, lobster, cajun-seasoned nutty seafood velouté). I would actually rate the Étouffée at four stars. It wasn't spicy but it really tasted fresh and had a unique, not overpowering flavor. Good consistency too. The soft shell crab appetizer too, was about four stars, especially due to the nice sized portion. It wasn't the very freshest soft shell crab we have had though, which I am pretty sure most soft shell crab in the U.S. is frozen. The dipping sauces provided were very good. The Caesar salad had the dressing on the side, maybe because it was takeout. Without the dressing, it was just bits of romaine lettuce and croutons, not much else. Could have used at least some grated cheese. Three stars for the freshness of the greens, but over all, just a two star Caesar salad. The French bread provided was warm and good. Service fast, efficient and friendly.

Picture it: Christmas Day. You and your S.O. didn't cook. You decided not to travel to see family. You both have to work the day after Christmas. But, you want something good to eat because, well, it's Christmas. Enter: Tides. My second time visiting Tides and it still didn't disappoint. The VGK Roll is a heavy roll: 5 come in an order and between the two of us, it was definitely enough of an appetizer. The roll is too large to eat in one bite, but when you bite into it, it surprisingly still stays in place and doesn't fall apart. It has a good spice to it, too. The cioppino was absolutely delicious! Hearty, tomato-based, overflowing with seafood. You can't beat the amount of seafood you get for the price. You pick the spice level (I got medium) and it was just spicy enough. Get it with rice (or noodles, your choice) and it's a great meal for a cold day.

We asked for the special and the waitress told us - salmon with hollandaise and asparagus- the order came as salmon with teriyaki sauce and green beans- never even mentioned the change. Spoke to the chef after and he made no apologies - just said that was wrong and she should not have told us that. We have been here at least once a month - the menu has changed and each time it has less and less on the menu. Now only one dessert - key lime pie- they had beignets before that were great! They had fish and chips, grilled salmon, and fried shrimp too. We won't be back until they change the menu.

I went to Tides last Sunday with a family friend I was visiting in Henderson. We were mainly looking for oysters and Tides was close and casual. We arrived about 5:30 and Tides wasn't busy at all so we opted to sit at the bar. Sheree was our server and seemed to be in a rush in all honesty. She very quickly took our drink order and then immediately returned with our drinks to take our food order. We decided to start off with a dozen of the seasonal oysters. They were good. 6 were from the New York area and 6 were from Washington state. You could clearly taste the difference. The oysters from NY were much more mild. To add to the seafood extravaganza, we each ordered a bowl of the New Orleans Gumbo. The gumbo is big enough to feed 5 people. Seriously. It was almost two separate meals. It was packed full of shrimp, king crab, and andouille sausage. So good. The atmosphere at Tides is what you'd expect at a hotel restaurant. The staff isn't super friendly, but they are attentive. I would go back to Tides if I was in the area, but I wouldn't go out of my way to dine there again.

Location: Right in the thick of the casino action @ Green Valley Ranch resort and casino in Henderson. It is part of the 'Station' casinos off strip resorts. Venue: Located feet away from slot machines, this is a small nice area with an open kitchen, table seating and counter seating which faces the chef and all the cooking action. There are TV's which surround the kitchen, tuned to various sports channels. The large casino 'Sports Book' area is nearby. Resort Casual ambience. Fine Dining: Nope but it could be. It seems to designed for Casino patrons to have an above average meal in a pleasant atmosphere. Reservations recommended but usually not so busy that one couldn't put their name in to sit at the counter. While we were not rushed through the dinner...it is not the sort of place to linger for a couple of hours. Food: Seafood, oysters, catch of the day, crab legs, Lobster, clam chowder, fish and chips, jambalaya, seafood soups, stews and more. My wife decided on the blackened salmon which turned out perfectly. She was very happy with this and the spiciness was quite nice. She also thought the clam chowder and roasted oysters were excellent. The beignet desert was nice too but we have had better versions 'IMHO' so I went with 3 stars on that. I had the seafood pan roast which consisted of crab, lobster, shrimp, and vegetables in a spicy creamy sauce which was beyond excellent. Someone recommended this to me and it was a winner. Service: Excellent waitress who was helpful but who had a heavy work load. Like I said, this is not fine dining, and I don't think it is intended to be. We enjoyed our meal a great deal. Vegan: There is no vegan menu and unless you modify a salad or vegetable dish...there is nothing available. Being vegan, we decided to go here as my wife liked the seafood menu and i was willing to cheat on a very rare occasion.

Seriously. I couldn't believe it. My husband wanted to treat me to oysters for getting a new job. So I didn't want anything fancy. We went on Friday afternoon, We got the oysters and asked for two glasses oh house Chardonnay. I couldn't believe it when we were charged 22.00 dollars for a small glass each of Chardonnay. I called the next day to describe my experience. And I felt we were overcharged for the two glasses of wine. The chef was arrogant that I spoke with and told me in a haughtily manner we don't serve house Chardonnay. I've lived in downtown Chicago and in New York City. Also traveled all over Europe and dined at exclusive restaurants. To be charged for something we were not expecting and have this kind of service? Especially in a restaurant in a casino in Henderson?! What a joke. We will never come here again!
